妖怪 (Yōkai) - Meaning ghost, phantom, or strange apparition, Yōkai are a class of supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore. Yōkai range eclectically from the malevolent to the mischievous, and occasionally bring good fortune to those who encounter them. Often they possess animal features, other times they can appear mostly human. Some look like inanimate objects and others have no discernible shape. Yōkai usually have a spiritual supernatural power, with shapeshifting being one of the most common.
Yōkai
This RP, simply known as Yōkai for the moment, is going to be a modern fantasy styled RP taking place in modern day japan. As the name states, this RP will revolve around the concept of Yōkai, spiritual demons, and the like. This RP will be a relatively open world RP featuring a couple of young adults or students and their Yōkai partners. This RP will be a High-Casual/Low Advanced Kind of deal, so I won't be expecting entire essays of words, but I will expect somewhere between 2-4 paragraphs. That means of course, no 1 liners.
Though this will be relatively open world, there will still be a story line that I'll usher us along subtly.
Unlike the earth we are used to, Yōkai been around for hundreds of thousands of years. Most Yōkai live in the Spiritual Realm, a separate plane of existence where millions of spirits reside. Spirits in the Spiritual Realm don't have a physical form, but upon entering the human world, they take on a form that coincides with their nature. The physical shape of a spirit however is not permanent, and a powerful enough spirit will be able to change its physical form at will.
Yōkai commonly travel between realms, and have become an integral part of human life. Many human's choose to become Shōkanshi, or summoners. Summoners are humans who make pacts with spirits to be able to wield their powers. These pacts vary by spirit, and many if not all have some sort of cost, ranging from a food offering or a relic, to blood and the promise of one's soul. Typically, the more costly the pact, the more powerful the Yōkai. However, the more powerful Yōkai also tend to be more cunning and dangerous.
Shōkanshi are found all over the world, doing various things. Some Shōkanshi are politicians, others are monks, and a several band together and form Shōkanshi-Senshi groups. Shōkanshi-Senshi usually work as freelance peacekeepers or mercenaries, though they have been known to be involved in crime as well. Police forces around the world regard Shōkanshi-Senshi's with a careful suspicion, though the majority of Shōkanshi-Senshi are respected for their abilities.
This RP features a group of Shōkanshi-Senshi known as The Tengu Hunters, a relatively new, small band of Shōkanshi-Senshi. The majority, if not all of our players will play as new recruits in the Tengu Hunters. As Shōkanshi-Senshi we will take on missions normally involving Yōkai, be it fighting Yōkai, or saving Yōkai.
Though helping keep rogue Yokai or Shokanshi-Senshi under control, there is a deeper more sinister group hidden amongst the whispers of the world. If they are left unchallenged, a terrible fate threatens to overtake the world and bathe it within a calamity that has not touched the Earth for over many centuries.
There are three main types of Yōkai.
Akuma - Akuma, or Demon. These Yōkai are typically more malevolent than other Yōkai, though this is not always the case. Akuma are generally faster, stronger, or more cunning than their other Yōkai brothers and sisters. Akuma typically require a blood price to seal their pacts, but they reward their Shōkanshi with considerable physical strength as well as the Yōkai's considerable spirit powers.
Seirei - Seirei or Spirit. These Yōkai are typically the simplest or most complex in nature. Seirei are the largest group of Yōkai though for the most part are generally neither benevolent or malicious. Seirei come in a multitude of shapes and sizes, and generally possess an average spattering of all types of powers. Seirei Pacts are generally the simplest as well, many requiring something as simple as offerings. Seirei often give their Shōkanshi small bits of their powers, or enchanted objects for their use.
Kami - Kami or Deity. These Yōkai are typically revered or considered holy or benevolent, though this may not always be the case. Kami are generally considered the most spiritually powerful of the Yōkai. Kami spiritual powers include feats like shape shifting and spiritual fire. Kami Pacts typically entail very complex and delicate rituals involving valuable relics or objects of some sort. Furthermore these objects are typically required to be the Shōkanshi's person at all time. As the rituals are very difficult to perform, Kami often reward their Shōkanshi with a basic grasp of spiritual powers.
I don't really think I need to go over the basic rules that everyone gives, but its as you would expect:

Cs's can be PM'ed or posted directly on the thread, the latter is preferred. I enjoy well written and diverse characters that show the effort and writing abilities of the player. I also have some difficulty when it comes to running larger scale RP's, so I'm only accepting up to six people.
Though this may be self explanatory, I just thought I'd say it anyways. You have to fill both fields for your characters, I'm not usually one for doubling characters, but you can't have a Shōkanshi-Senshi without a Shōkanshi and a Yōkai... Right? Unless you want to partner up with a player and have one play each role ^^!

Introduce Yourself: Stella Asakashi
What kind of person are you?: Stella is a reserved daughter of the influential Asakashi family, a great import and export company. Her demeanor radiates gentleness and patience. She often listens more so then speak, but when she does it’s usually a quick answer or a simple complex answer. She is diligent in what she does and meticulous in every detail. When an assignment is given, she completes it to the best of her abilities.
Tell us about yourself!: Because of Stella’s position, her friends are limited. She is often the student where the others are tentative to talk to because of her status of being the senior class president. She spends most of her free time connecting with different powerful families as well as representing her family through meetings and compiling assignments for her father.
On a less rigid note, Stella enjoys a stroll through the cities as she enjoys the variation of people and energy that she often forgets exists. Whenever she gets the chance, she visits an orphanage a little ways away from her usual routes and interacts with the children there. She usually brings little treats for all the kids as she helps out whenever she can.
In her mind, the life of a normal person is more appealing, for she can meet people who don't see her for her power but for who she really is.
Where do you come from?: Stella's family has many estates around Tokyo proper. They have a rather large estate in the countryside where the building itself is much bigger than the conditions would allow if they were to build in the Tokyo itself.
They have another estate in Tokyo itself connected to her families tower.
The last estate is on the coastal part of Hiroshima. It's used more so for a vacation home rather than the main housing for the family.
Because of her school and the need to be close to the tower, Stella lives within the urban estate.

Put your best foot forward!: Stella is great at micromanaging and seeking out small minute problems and providing solutions to them. Her ability to persuade and dissuade are adept because of the constant need for them.
Favoring grace and beauty, instead of joining school sports activities, she participates in the dance club where she, with the use of two traditional hand fans, practices gestures that show off her ability to move with precise movements. She flows with the rhythms and sometimes loses herself within its unparalleled tranquility. Her form is often raved about with the members of her dance club and the students who have seen her performance.
She also participates in many Shinto ceremonial skits and ceremonies, for she adheres strictly to respecting the Kami and the spirits.
Extra Stuff!:
This necklace is a family heirloom that her mother passed down onto her. In her family, it is custom for the passing of the heirloom from mother to daughter. The object itself has been in her family for six generations dating far back in their history.
It is this object that she has offered up to her Yokai, Ira. Though the official reason for their bond is for the interest of her families agenda, she secretly wishes for a being that can protect her as well as something to confide in where others cannot.

Name Yumi-Nyo the Water Nymph Type Seirei Personality
Light hearted and somewhat fickle, Yumi-Nyo is known for her bubbly(ba-doom tss) personality and somewhat vain nature. As most water spirits do, she values beauty and grace above all other qualities and for the most part tries to exemplify it. Like most Yōkai, while she acts fairly kind and benevolent, she also has her own ulterior motives, and self preservation is probably her top priority. Oddly enough, she has an affinity for pacting with shrine maidens, finding their calm personalities a good match to her more active one. She dislikes dirt and grime and is not a fan of dull and overly serious people. Though she is loathe to admit it, as a water spirit she is also fairly quick to anger, and steam can be seen raising out of her when she is angry, likewise her personality cools off equally fast and mist and frost can also form around her. The process of creating a pact with Yumi-Nyo involves finding a necklace inside the depths of a shallow creek. In order to begin the pact, one must take the necklace to a shrine or some other sanctified place (there should be many in this fantastical japan..) and making a small offering of spiritual energy. The offering must be renewed every year in order to maintain the pact. Powers
As a water spirit, Yumi-Nyo possess the ability to transform into a solid body of water, which can have a humanoid form, or just be a large volume of water. As a spirit she also has well developed control over water and liquids and can freeze or boil liquids as she pleases. Upon her pactmaker she bestows moderate control over water, and her pact necklace allows the wearer to breathe underwater.

Is there a difference between a Main Character, and a Player?
As in, are you only accepting six people in total?
Or if say, Me and a friend wanted to play a Shokanshi and a Yokai together, would the number of players allowed be increased to 7?
Oh man, this concept is really good I must say. I'm a sucker for well structured and/or unique RP's, and I must say, I love this premise. Consider this a placeholder for a CS. I'd like to join if possible.
Lol shin, to answer your questions, while this may be a bit presumptuous of me, seeing as this is a remake of one of my earlier RP's I believe I has the answer to your questions,
Players refers to the actual writers such as you and me, while main characters refer to the characters we create,
and I also believe there is no problem with a pair playing as a shokanshi and yokai, I believe Cel did that with someone else in the original as well, very good characters too may I add.

To be honest I wouldn't mind playing two characters, but I personally think I'd enjoy this concept more if I teamed up with someone, opposed to playing my own little tag team. Going to wait and see who else joins though. In the meantime, I guess I'll go stalk Celes and see how the original version of this RP played out.

Thanks Cele haha. I just recently finished Persona 4 Golden and I had to show my new love for it. You're gonna make me think hard about this set of characters though haha. This seems like something that calls for much creativity.
