Sorry, Byrd, but I'm dropping Slade. It was a hasty decision, and, after giving it some thought, I will be putting in an app for the original black hat you and I talked about. But that'll be down the road a wee bit, and considering if he's still available.

    Until the time is right...

Ultimate Fables, A Brief History: Existing in a separate dimension are all the characters of folklore and the myths. Called the Homelands, this mythical place is a virtually endless land of vast landscapes, brimming with magic and wonder. But the Fables world is suddenly turn on it's head as a massive army of storybook monsters arrive from across the Western Sea and begin conquering the Homelands. Led by a being known as the Adversary, the evil Empire seems unstoppable. The Fables band together, mounting what they can for a defensive, but their army is quickly wiped out. As the Adversary's armies march forward rounding up Fables as slaves and killing the rest, the Fables come to a drastic conclusion. They have to leave the Homelands behind.

Using the powers of the surviving warlocks and witches, the Fables create hidden portals across the Homelands. Portals that lead to the our reality. One by one they flee the Homelands, taking refuge in a small, closely-guarded community in New York City they call Fabletown. Run by Mayor King Cole, the Fables of Fabletown live in peace with the world around them, governing themselves and staying hidden by powerful magicks.

    Character you wish to portray:
    Bigby Wolf

Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero

Powers and physical attributes: In his wolf form, Bigby is massive, shown to be considerably taller than a human being, and at times substantially larger that that as well. In this form, he can carry people with no apparent stress and is a formidable fighter. All other wolves defer to him and call him "The Lord of Wolves". His mixed ancestry gives him the ability to blow massive gusts of wind (the "huff 'n' puff" of the Three Little Pigs story) and can also briefly command local winds to do his bidding. Bigby can drown but he is able to hold his breath for an extremely long time; it has been shown that he can hold his breath for three weeks straight. He also swam across the Bering Strait without getting cold (he even referred to it as "an enjoyable swim.") Every one of his senses is far above the normal human ability. He is also extremely quick to heal, and cannot be killed by conventional weapons. He can, however, be slain by silver or fire. As a Fable, he does not age.

In addition to his wolf and human forms, Bigby can enter an intermediate form similar to the wolfman of legend. In this form he possesses great strength, rapid healing, and the claws and teeth of a wolf. Bigby's father, the North Wind, has stated directly that due to his heritage Bigby could learn to shape shift of his own will (regardless of the lycanthropy-stained knife). Given that his brothers routinely assumed new shapes to try and impress the North Wind, the only reason Bigby lacks the technique is that he's refused to learn it.

Because of his extraordinary senses, Bigby is able to pick up on the emotions of thousands of nearby strangers, to the extent that he smokes cigarettes constantly in order to drown them out. The only one whom he cannot drown out, or tune out, is Snow White. Due to his rapid hair growth, he has to shave several times a day.

    (From Wikipedia)

Origin and backstory (as you see it):

Bigby Wolf, aka the Big Bad Wolf, is a powerful and ancient Fable. Known for his vicious demeanor and insatiable appetite for flesh, Bigby is one of the most feared Fables in existence.

The son of the North Wind, Bigby was a powerful terror since birth, hunting and killing anything in his father's kingdom. Displeased with his son's barbaric nature, the North Wind exiled him to the deep forests of the Homelands to live as he acted.
Here Bigby's reign of terror began with events such as the hunting and killing of the three pigs, to the stalking of Red Riding Hood. For centuries, Bigby preyed upon those foolish enough to enter his domain, devouring taunting them and instilling true fear before devouring them whole. All the while, Bigby felt nothing but pain and anger towards his father whom abandoned him. One day, the Big Bad Wolf was approached by an agent of the Adversary with an offer: join forces with his armies and be granted great gifts and riches beyond his wildest dreams. Bigby accepted, but refused the wealth. All he wanted was the chance to kill his father who cast him out centuries ago.

Given the ability to transform into a man, Bigby became a notorious huntsman for the Adversary, rounding up hundreds of Fables and slaughtering countless others. All the while he did his job with the notion that, one day, he'd sink his teeth into the North Wind's neck. One day though, all that changed. Shadowing a group of Fable refugees who were attempting to flee, Bigby caught the sight of Snow White. Her beauty and scent were intoxicating to Bigby, and his icy heart slowly began to thaw. He followed Snow White's group along their way, even going out of his way to kill game for them, placing it along their path to find so they wouldn't starve.

One day, Snow White and her fellow Fables were ambushed by the Adversary's legions. Caught in a crisis of conscious that he never thought he'd ever have to worry about, Bigby chose to break his ties with the Adversary and saved the Fables. Despite saving their lives, the Fables were terrified of him and wanted nothing to do with Bigby, the Adversary's hunter. Bigby was silently cursing himself for being so stupid when Snow White walked up to him and smiled. Thanking him for what he did, she kissed him on the top of his head before running off, leading the surviving refugees to the nearby portal.

No longer driven by hate and anger, Bigby went about hunting down and killing the Adversary's soldiers wherever he found them and helping hundreds of Fables to escape the Homelands. He became a terror to the enemy, the unseen marauder who could strike from anywhere and at anytime. Even the Big Bad Wolf was unable to help stem the tide of the Adversary's legions, and Bigby was forced on the run. Not knowing the location of the hidden Fable portals, Bigby resigned himself to his imminent demise, determined to take as many of the Adversary's troops down with him.

It was then that a young blond man dressed in blue appeared before him. Introducing himself as Boy Blue, the Fable told Bigby that he had made up for his crimes against his own kind enough to be allowed a passage to freedom. If he accepted, he would be given a fresh start in Fabletown as the Sheriff and Chief of Intelligence. Bigby first was skeptical of the offer, even ready to turn it down due to feeling that he didn't deserve it. But when Blue said that it was from Snow White, Bigby eventually accepted. Following Boy Blue to the portal, Bigby escaped to the Mundane World.

Now the sheriff of Fabletown, Bigby is in charge of all problems in the small, tight-nit community, as well as the extensive intelligence network that the Fables have set up around the globe, as well as the Homelands. Bigby has slowly gained the respect of his fellow Fables whom he polices with an fair brand of justice, though many are still fearful of him given his past as a murderous monster.

The burning question - Why this character?:
I'm a big Fables fan, and I would like to try and integrate them into the game.

How will it be Ultimate?: Little tweaks in the origin, such as this Bigby being a agent of the Adversary originally, and his falling out with his father.

What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
Experience in RPing. Oh, and Fables, bitches!

Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, two paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue:

    "Is that...Darth Vader?"

"What? You thought all Fables were from old stories books? If enough people believe in us, we exist"
, Bigby said as he jumped aside to avoid a blast of lightning.

"Fair point", Hector replied as he quickly raised a shield to deflect the Sith Lord's lightning attack.

Bigby snarled as he bounded in towards Vader. Leaping to slash the villain's face, Vader grabbed Bigby with the Force, his claws only a few feet from Sith Lord's face.

    "Bigby Wolf"
, Vader states as the snarling wolf's snapping jaws reflect in his emotionless mask.
"You were once the Emperor's finest huntsman...and now you are nothing more than a worthless traitor. Oh, how the mighty have fallen."

Vader flicks his wrist and flings Bigby into the cliff face. The force of the impact shook the ground, and the snapping of Bigby's neck echoed across the area as the Sheriff's body falls limply onto the snowy ground.

Vader turns and raises his lightsaber just in time to deflect a magical blast before it connects.

"You are no Fable", the Dark Lord surmised as he took hold of a massive pine tree with the Force and brought it crashing down onto Fate, burying him beneath it.
    "You are a Mundane."

The tree shatters apart as Hector Hall, surrounded by a shining aura, stands unharmed.

"You want to play with trees? Okay, I can do that too", Fate says as he eyes begin to glow a bright green.

Almost instantly, the trees and plants surrounding them come to life. Vines and leafless limbs elongate and ensnare the Sith Lord, wrapping him so tight that he couldn't even twitch.

"You are powerful for a Mundane", Vader commented, not a hint of worry in his cold, mechanical voice.

"This excursion will prove most informative"
, Vader says as he opens his hand, releasing his grip on his lightsaber.
The blade swipes as though it has a mind of it's own, freeing Vader from the snare. Immediately, the Dark Lord unleashed an assault of Force lightning at Hector Hall.

Fate raises his shields and once again deflected the attack, but Vader continued to pour it on.
As the lightning continued to assault the wizard, the Sith Lord grabbed hold of his lightsaber with the Force and launched it at Hector. The blade dug halfway through his shield on impact, and continued to slowly force it's way in.
Hector gritted his teeth as he battled wills with Darth Vader, trying to keep the lightning at bay, and force out the lightsaber at the same time.

    "You are beaten", Vader stated
    "It is useless to resist..."

Suddenly Vader howled in pain as he suddenly stopped the attack.

    "Forgot about somebody, did we"
, Bigby questions into Vader's ear as his left hand is sticking out of the Sith Lord's chest, his clawed hand wrapped tightly around what is left of Vader's abominable heart.

"You know, you always were a cocky little ***hole", Bigby states as he tears his arm out of Vader and allows him to fall face first into the snow.

Bigby knelt next to the fallen Dark Lord of the Sith, placed his fingers along the back of Vader's neck, and drove them clean through. Bigby tore off Vader's head and held it up high, letting out a bestial roar that rang out throughout the entire wood.

Bigby looked back down at the body and tossed the head next to it.

"Let's go, Doc. Vader was one of the Emperor's Knights Imperial, so if he's here, chances are that something big is going down."

"I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Bigby sighed and shook his head.
"Let's just get inside and destroy the portal before the Empire can put it to use."

Character you wish to portray: The Atom

Hero, villain, or walking the line?:Hero

Powers and physical attributes: The ability to shrink down to microscopic size, and the ability to shift her weight so even at (for example) six inches tall she can have weight and strength as though she were her normal size. Can also shift her weight so that she can float on air currents and travel along cell-phone signals.

Origin and backstory : Rhiannon Palmer was a doctor of molecular biology at Wayne Enterprises' Medical Research division. She is strong-willed and fiercely independent because her parents are so well known in Gotham so she wants to prove that she can do things without having to rely on her parents' name (Father was the QB of the Gotham Knights died of Cancer, Mother was a well-known writer died in a boating accident). Rhiannon graduated from Central City Tech with a PHD in molecular biology at the age of 24 and moved back to Gotham took an entry level position at Star Labs satellite office in Gotham. She was on the verge of a major breakthrough in Diabetes research. Her intention was to shrink a specialized computer chip to help the pancreas secrete insulin. Rhiannon did not realize that if she had succeeded the Pharmaceutical Division of Star Labs would lose Billions in research grant money from the Government, and her superiors (unknown to her) tampered with the laser that would be used for the shrinking process and re-aligned the targeting mirrors so when it was fired it would fire at her automatically. When she test fired it struck her. Her superiors thought that she would be killed, but instead the laser blast had no noticeable effect on her at first. Rhiannon was blamed for the laser misfire but was told that there would be hearing to determine what happened in the interest of fairness. Rhiannon decided to sneak back into the lab to study the laser. She was studying it closely and thought that she saw something in the targeting mirrors she was certain it was there if there was only a way to see it closer. Then suddenly Rhiannon noticed that the room was getting bigger and bigger until the targeting mirrors were as big as the Washington Monument. Rhiannon Palmer discovered she now had the ability to shrink at will. That night she conducted a series of tests upon herself and discovered all of her powers. Rhainnon Palmer knew that she had been given these powers for a reason and was determined to make a difference. She then took a bio-suit that had been moth-balled and created her costume which would appear only when she shrank otherwise would disappear when she returned to normal size. Rhiannon took her evidence and proved there had been tampering with the equipment. Rather than drag the events out she would agree to resign and keep quiet in exchange for letters of recommendation and a "healthy" severance package. Rhainnon was able to gain a job at Wayne Enterprises' medical research division as a research scientist. She eventually left there and took a position at STAR Labs in Metropolis as the Head or Micro-Biology R &D. However after dealing certain Government Agencies she left there and tried being a PI but hated it, and is now a Professor at Met-Tech.

The burning question - Why this character?: I have played this character for a long time and I have a lot of fun with her, and I'm looking forward to interacting with some new RPGERS

How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: This character is a female, and while she is a scientist she enjoys the adventure and danger aspect of crime fighting unlike the actual DC character who is more scientific and works out of Metropolis. Plus she will also be an expert in Judo so she does know how to defend herself.

What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I have almost 30 years of experience and couple of the others already know me (and yet haven't run away in fear and panic).

Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, two paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue

The Atom begins floating away on the night air. She smiles feeling a sense of confidence and strength.

All-right Metropolis...bring it on...I am so ready. For the first time since I got my powers I finally feel like a real super-hero...and it feels awesome!

She spots a mugging in progress.

Okay so it's not exactly a big name Super Villain but hey I got to do what I have to do. This idiot is breaking the law and he needs to be stopped.

The Atom floats down and lands on top of the gun barrell.

The mugger is stunned looking at The Atom.

She says, "What's the problem? Can't find a date?"

The mugger begins to swipe at her with his free hand and she shifts her weight. The mugger stumbles and falls forward. As he is falling The Atom clocks him the jaw and he is now unconscious.

She floats up to the victim and says, "Get his gun. I'll call the cops."

The Atom gets to a pay phone and calls 911. The police arrive as she leaves the scene.

    Okay who's next?

    THE ULTIMATE DC RPG
    Character Application

Name: Lian Harper | Alignment: Walking the Line | Alias: Red Hood
Gender: Female | Age: 19 | Costumed Appearance: It Looks Like This

    Powers and Physical Attributes:

    Marksman
Lian learned the art of archery literally at her father's knee and was performing at an Olympic level by age seven. At nineteen, she has an accuracy and precision bordering on inhuman.

    Agility
Failing super strength, Lian is an expert acrobat, having inherited her mother's triple jointedness. She is quick, light on her toes, and, like a cat, always lands on her feet.

    Combat
Though she prefers to use her bow, or else just avoid combat situations, Lian is a highly skilled martial artist, having studied taekwondo, karate, capoeira, and others.

    Speedster
After 'stealing' speedster abilities with her mother at age 11, Lian can move just shy of the speed of light. She cannot vibrate through walls, however, or access the Speed Force.

    Origin/Backstory:
This iteration of Lian Harper has an origin influenced by:
    Lian Harper
    (Young) Roy Harper/Speedy
    Cheshire/Arrowette/Artemis
    Jay Garrick/Flash
    Wally West/Flash/Kid Flash
    Damian Wayne/Robin

Like the original Lian, she was born of a brief affair with future villainess Cheshire (Jade Nguyen) after her father, Roy Harper (in his early days as masquerading as Speedy) fell in love with Cheshire during what should have been a tracking mission. However, instead of rejoining her father at a young age, Lian stayed with her mother, Cheshire, until age five, where she was instilled with her mother's greed, selfishness, and acrobatic ability. When he learned that he had a daughter and she was being raised as a villainess, Roy (who had by then become a very low-key 'hero' known as Arsenal) took custody of her and took her back to Star City where he began teaching her archery and some vigilante justice in hopes of turning her from the 'evil' roots that had taken up inside her.

Lian is ten when she loses her father in the explosion that should have taken her life. Let's say Roy got into his heroine thing later in life after the stress of having a semi-delinquent daughter started getting to him. There was an explosion in his lab ((do people have heroine labs?)), and he just managed to get Lian away before various injuries took his life. The ten-year-old Lian, distraught, angry, and confused, went to live with family friend Barry Allen, who would later become the Flash.

After her father's death, Lian became reckless and errant, a kind, but rebellious girl more focused on having fun and playing with her bow than justice or villainies in particular. She broke into Barry's lab one night, where, like Jay Garrick, she fell asleep, inhaled some special water vapors, and woke with speedster abilities. When Barry discovered this, he sought to train her, though she ran away at sixteen, and has not had contact with him since.

She now lives on her own, often squatting, or at the very least, couch surfing (generally with boys she gets drunk and leaves in the morning), doing as she sees fit. She has the makings of both good and evil in her, and which will prevail, if either, remains to be seen.

    Why?
I tend to play archers whenever 'powered' characters are available, just because I'm horrible at writing fight scenes. Also, I had the hugest crush on Roy Harper/Red Arrow/Arsenal during the early-2000s JLA publication run. GAWD, issue 11 where he and Vixen got trapped under that building? I was hoping for some hot interracial power sex. No such luck. *ahem*

Finally, I was pissed and saddened when they killed Lian JUST TO MAKE A BUCK. So, I'm bringing her back. With a little extra on the side.

    How?
As the modern amalgamation of Red Arrow (Roy Harper), Cheshire (Jade Nguyen), and the Flash (Jay Garrick, to avoid any confusion with whatever Flash may already exist in this universe), she'll be a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll. By which I mean, she'll by an archer who's just a touch evil, with some speedster abilities. BAM.

    What?
Moral ambiguity, mostly. Failing that, since there seem to be quite a few 'walk the line' characters, drama. Lian is fucked up. Mostly because she should have been killed.
