Write it up all you want. We'll see about that whole approval thing...
I'll write up an app. Should that be approved, Superman'll be dropped.

Still working on my character. Having a little trouble, so I'm putting this on hold until I can get her sorted. Man, what a bitch, amirite?

It's fine. Things happen. I know how fickle creativity can be at times.
Hello to all here! Byrd and a few others in this thread know me as Carnage at another site, but I'm glad to find a new, active community here.
THE ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
Character you wish to portray: Aztar/The Spectre (alias Jim Corrigan)
Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking the Line
Powers and physical attributes: Spectre is a fallen angel, and as one, is immortal. However, his immortal soul is encased in a mortal body, which if destroyed, will send him back to hell.
But Spectre's body is no mere human-like form. His body has levels of strength, speed, agility, dexterity, and endurance at super human levels that help him fight demons, though these are all below heroes like Flash and Superman. Spectre also has the ability to heal from gun wounds, stab wounds, broken bones, etc. Though it is possible to destroy his human form by doing enough damage before he can heal.
Spectre is incredibly versed in the occult, and has the ability to use low-to-mid magic at will without great concentration.
Origin and backstory (as you see it): In the beginning, there was the Presence. It was the be all end all. Until the Creation. Using all of its vast wisdom and creativity, it created the entire Universe, filling it with light and life. But it did not stop there, it also created beings known as angels. They were to be the Presence's confidants and workers, keeping the Universe in line and in order. They would take care of problems deemed beneath the Presence.
Unfortunately, not all of the angels were content with their lot in life. A group rose up against the Presence, led by Lucifer Morningstar, with intentions of taking over Paradise and shaping the universe in their own image.
The battle was ferocious, but short. In the end, Lucifer and his cabal were struck down and banished, forever to lament in the realm of Hell.
After eons locked in the torturous prison, one of Lucifer's lieutenants, Aztar, began to regret his actions against the Presence. Secretly traveling to the gates of Paradise, he threw himself at the mercy of the almighty, begging for forgiveness. Instead, he was once again cast back into the Pit, never to escape again.
Seeing no other option, Aztar sought out Hell's greatest sorcerer, known as Eclipso. Together, the two of them created a spell that would send them to the mortal world. Eclipso thought it was to cause mayhem for the Presence's new chosen races in the mortal plane, but Aztar had another plan up his sleeve. He would go to the mortal world and wipe out its evil, earning his entrance back into Paradise.
When the time came to perform the spell, Aztar betrayed Eclipso, closing the portal behind him before the other fallen angel had the opportunity to follow. The spell gave Aztar a mortal body to encase his mortal soul, which if destroyed would send him back to Hell. Alone in our world, Aztar adopted the name Jim Corrigan as a front for his Earthly operations, and has set about hunting down evil under the guise of The Spectre.
The burning question - Why this character?: I've always wanted to try my hand at Spectre, and I think I've got an interesting plan for him. He will cross paths with the "dark sector" of the DC universe, dealing with the supernatural agents, but would also be up for other interactions.
How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, obviously, he's a fallen angel that's escaped from Hell, rather than God's divine wrath sent to Earth as atonement for his part in the rebellion against God. Also, the Spectre was also incredibly powerful in the true DC universe. Here, he will be powerful, but not overly so.
What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:An interesting take on a classic DC character, as well as a dedicated and experienced RPer.

Bludhaven
Mortals disgust me. If there's one thing I've learned form my time on Earth is that these...things are the worst kind of creation. Jealous, petty, ugly, and selfish, they rush about their lives in a mad dash to gain as much wealth and power as they possibly can. There is no greater purpose in their existence. It's steal, backstab, and lie from birth until death.
But they are the Almighty's chosen at this point. Why I will never understand. But to return to Paradise, it is my charge to protect them from the evils that have invaded this world.
Pushing the door open to the bar, I step into the dank, musty room, the smell of stale beer stinging my nostrils. I take a seat a the bar, accidentally bumping a man with his hood up next to me.
"You got a problem, pal?"
"That depends," I respond in a raspy voice, "what can you tell me about Midnight?"
And that's when the hood falls back, revealing the decaying flesh of the zombie within.
Character you wish to portray:
Wally West. The Flash.
Hero, Villain or Walking the line?:
Hero.
Powers and physical abilities:
Speed, and lots of it.
Wally West is the fastest man alive, capable of tapping into the mysterious extra-dimensional energy force/source. As such he has tremendous control of his speed both in a general sense; where he can run at seemingly limitless velocities, and on a molecular level; allowing him to vibrate his molecules “through” solid objects or allowing him to steal or lend “speed” which is a pivotal factor in how time is perceived. All in all Wally’s power over speed and thus time are virtually limitless!
…or would be. If it weren’t for his own limitations.
While Wally has access to almost boundless power, he’s still very much limited by youth, inexperience and the troubles these things bring. He’s still coming to terms with the responsibilities these powers bring and also physically manifesting these powers himself, despite knowing that they can be done.
Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Wally West is perhaps the greatest example of a legacy character in the DCU. He represents the strength of the family bonds. Wally is an affable, light-hearted cheery guy. Optimistic by nature, and with a strong sense of humour he’s grown up reading comics and with his family pedigree viewed them more as vocational research than an escapist fantasy. Having the previous Flash, Barry Allen, and “Grampa” Jay close by whilst growing up left him idolatrous of the pair, particularly Barry.
Wally shared a love of science with Barry, not surprising when you factor in that both relatives of rapidity gained their powers through scientific means and when young Wally stumbled upon his uncle’s journal at a family re-union and found a page detailing a certain fatalistic experiment the conclusion was inevitable.
While a random bolt of lightning granted his uncle a means to tap into the mysterious speed force, the deliberate forced current which Wally used “perfected” the method and provided Wally, unbeknownst to himself, with the first direct unbreakable mainline to the Speed Force. With the potential to do more with the power than anyone ever before. If only he could figure out how to access it all. But there’s plenty of time for that, and Wally intends to enjoy every last second of it.
The burning question – Why this character?:
Well, I’m fairly new... Not exactly accurate, I’m completely new, here. But in my past experience in similar games I have played quite a few flawed, dirtbag, blurring the line scoundrels in the past. I think it’s about time I make a grab for a pure hero with heart before I turn completely anti-social and start standing on street corners shouting obscenities to people who pass by.
Wally’s that hero and I intend to play him as such. Besides, where would a superhero game be without a speedster?
How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
Wally’s landing neck deep in a world he doesn’t really understand. He’s read about it in books and heard sunny stories by his uncle and grampa, but they’re fairly sunny accounts – particularly with wives and family who fret enough for their safety sitting around the dinner table with them. Barry and Jay weren’t the sort to complain about much. But Barry had time to get used to it…
Wally’s entering a world where villainous types abound. Where the most scurrilous sort; the self-named “Rogues”, have formed their own society as a way of dealing with Wally’s predecessor. Barry’s had time to adjust to their ways and likewise the Rogues have fine-tuned their methods against the old-head Barry, but how could the new kid on the block handle landing in this?
It’s mainly Ultimate because Wally lacks all experience, he’s jumped straight from gaining his powers to being the main event with his uncle’s passing. No Titans history, no growing into the role next to Uncle Barry.
He’s going from zero to 60 in no time flat.
What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
More experience than Wally has. :-P
Hopefully a good humoured lighter addition to a game which has just lost it’s Superman.

My feet pound the asphalt heavily, my heart pumps hard in its chest, I’m panting deeply.
...and I’m still probably going to miss the darn bus.
My backpack rises and falls heavily as my legs pump, I slap at the rear fender as it accelerates on the green light.
“Hey! HEY!”
The front door folds open, but the bus slows rather than stops.
“Wally, Wally, Wally.” the friendly face tuts “Running late, just like your uncle Barry.” Mr Fincher wasn’t just commenting based on rumour. The nice old man had been driving the school bus for as long as anyone can remember, which was certainly long enough to recall when he used to take Barry to school.
I kept running to the front door and matched pace with the slowing bus, but still it didn’t stop.
“Maybe I’m not running late. Maybe you’re running early?”
“Heh, and maybe you’re running yourself to school.” The old man smirked. Gave me two more seconds chase to think about it and then pulled the bus over to the side of the road.
“Alright Wally, on ya get.” He smiled warmly.
“Thanks, Mr Fincher.” I return in earnest.
The seat right behind the driver was free, so I sat in it. In fact it was pretty much the only seat which was free, most of the other kids crowding the back so they could best get away with whatever nefarious activity came up. You know how it is.
“Gonna join the track team this year, Wally?”
“Huh? Well, I hadn’t really been planning to.” I say politely, understating it strongly, it’s my senior year. The last thing I’d have been planning on doing is adding to my extra-curriculars.
“’Cos if you are, I’d be happy to help you train if you decide you want to catch the bus at this time every morning. Hah hah hah.” His laughter warm and hearty with gentle ribbing and not a trace of mean-spiritedness.
“Aww... I think I’ll give it a miss.” I grin.
That was two weeks ago.
I don’t think I’ll have too many problems catching the bus now.
Alright, you're approved!
Is there like a Batman curse or something?!
