Oh yay~
I think we have enough to go ahead with an IC thread. Anybody who wants to play is still free to apply for whoever they want even after the IC thread goes up.
Oh yay~
Thank you Lillian!
Sure, why not. I'm not in enough comic games as it is.
Any issue with my 'Ultimating' the Atom to a female?
"Baby you're not anybody's fool."
Order of the (spacey) Advanced Roleplayer
By all means, go for it.
Character you wish to portray: Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke the Terminator
Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain
Powers and physical attributes: Slade is a powerful SoB, so, to save space, here's a link to the DC Database's neatly listing of his abilities: Deathstroke's Powers
Origin and backstory (as you see it): Slade Wilson's past before he enlisted into the USMC the day after 9/11 are a mystery, having been covered up and classified. Slade was one of the finest soldiers to come through the Core in a long time, displaying a keen tactical mind in the field, as well as astounding charisma in being able to rally his comrades in even the direst of fire fights.
It was in one such battle that Slade lost his right eye from an RPG as he saved the life of another marine.
Eventually, Slade caught the eye of some high ranking general and found himself under the needle as the first test subject in Project: Terminator, a secret government experiment to create a super soldier. The experiment worked, both increasing and granting Slade abilities that set him far apart from normal men.
But the serum also sent Slade into a state of insanity, and, in his mad state, Slade destroyed the lab and killed the scientist in charge of the project. After being subdued, Slade sat in an isolated cell for two weeks as the General decided what to do with him, the man who destroyed any chances of a potential army of American super soldiers when, in a fit of maniacal delusion, he murdered the man who created the formula.
Eventually the General, after realizing that the serum did indeed work, decided to spare Slade's life and make use of him while other scientists futily tried to recreate the super soldier serum.
Slade was given the best training possible, and became the United States' private assassin, Deathstroke. Slade served his country for years as Deathstroke, but left in 2010 when, upon returning from assignment the entirety Project: Terminator, including the General, was wiped out by America's enemies.
For the past couple of years Slade has been a freelance mercenary, taking on all manner of jobs. Over the course of his tenure, both as a military weapon and an independent soldier of fortune, Slade has garnered an almost mythical reputation as the planet's deadliest man.
And that is a reputation that Deathstroke has righteously earned, as well as one not many would argue against.
The burning question - Why this character?: I love villains, and Slade is a character I've never played as before.
How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: I kind of went the anti-Captain America route with Slade's backstory.
What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Experience in RPing and a much needed villain.
Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, two paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue:
The rain beat down on his head, and drummed rhythmically off of the blade of his sword which he held in his hand as he stood over the pathetically terrified form of Alfred Pennyworth.
"Time's up, Jeeves", Slade spat, his one wide eye looking down at the frightened butler coldly.
"Where's daddy?"
"Not here, and if you think you're-"
Alfred's sentenced was cut short as Deathstroke plunged his sword right into, and out the back of, his throat.
"Save the meaningless threats, old man. I've heard them all before", Slade tells the dying Alfred as he kicks him off of his blade.
Deathstroke walks away as he wipes off his blade, leaving Alfred to wallow in the rain and mud of the manor grounds as he gasps for air, futily clutching at his mortal wound.
There's a flash of lightning and Deathstroke stops as he sees the silhouette before him.
"Took you long enough", Slade smiles, "I was beginning to think you wouldn't show."
Deathstroke tosses something to the Batman's feet: it's the "R" from Robin's costume, torn up and stained with blood.
"Don't worry, he put up a better fight than your faithful servant did", Deathstroke chuckles as he motions to the dead body of Alfred lying amid the muck...
You're approved.

Character you wish to portray: Ghost Fox Killer
Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking the line.
Powers and physical attributes:
Fatal Touch - GFK can kill a living creature with a single touch. Unlike many other members of the ancient Celestial order, her touch being lethal appears a matter of her whims. (Limits: Conciousness, Belief.)
Necromancy - GFK controls ghosts of those her ancient society has killed over the years. She likewise appears capable of communicating with other lost souls. (Limits: Magic.*)
Enhanced - While not superhuman, GFK has proven herself at the height of humanity's physical ability. Whether due to the mystical nature of her Order or it's Shaolin like training regiment, it is a common thread among the Order's Killers.
Martial Artist - A master of numerous. Most notably favoring various forms of Kung-Fu.
Marksman - Trained in weapons ancient and new. Uses pistols non-lethal, lethal, and mystical in nature.
* While magic has at times cut off GFK from communicating with the dead, her link to the souls her Order has slain appears unbreakable even for the Lords of Hell.
Origin and backstory:
Ghost Fox Killer belongs to an ancient Order that has longed dwelled in a dimension tied closely to Earth's. There is no written history; only the artifacts of ages past knowing, the traditions of the Society, and the training regiment of the Killers themselves is left of their past. The old stories tell of Spirits coming to Earth from the Heavens a thousand years after the dawn of man upon the planet. Dismayed by man's core moral flaws the Spirits established a line of women to safeguard humanity from itself by finding and putting down the most evil of them.
There is no firm answer on why the Spirits choose woman over man, though countless in the ancient Order have their theories. For nearly the entirity of man's history there have been Killers from the ancient Order stalking the Earth, shadows among shadows that look to help the helpless and remove the worst of mankind from the surface of the planet.
Recently the elders of the Order pronounced their tradition nearing extinction. Fewer and fewer Killers had been made over the last century, though most assumed this was due to dwindling numbers of worthy souls. A small but loud number within the Order blamed the Order's growing sense of entitlement and lack of respect for humanity in which they were established to serve.
When the Order polarized in varying opinions of what to do the only result was another three centuries of in fighting and stalemates. What began as disagreements on the future of the Order eventually turned into something darker; the Order's first violent split among members. The bloody incident backfired on each major group within the Order, allowing the once small but loud number within the Order that had abstained from any violence.
While changes for the better came to the Order quickly they were all nearly undone. Forces outside the Order began to reveal themselves in the background, manipulating members of the Order through their unconcious. The plot was revealed by a neophyte of the Order still in training, a British-Chinese young woman named Selene. Selene was joined by Daniel Bard, an aspect of Dream, when she discovered demon lords of Hell were attempting to destroy their order in order to acquire some of the most desired evil souls in human history. The duo was ultimately successful; Lucifer Morningstar bestoing Selene the dubious title of demon lord as a mocking tip of his hat.
Little remains of the Order after the assault of the demon lords. It's timeless dimension has been 'resecured and hidden' by Bard, a new young crop of recruits and barely enough to train them remaining behind as the only active Killer in the Order, Selene, is sent to Earth to resume the Order's sacred mission.
The burning question - Why this character?:
Duh; I got a blank check. I first thought a simple gender switch for Atom...but why not go full out creative and take someone obscure and try to turn them into a character people can enjoy on a larger stage? Not easy, but that's okay.
How will this version of your character differ from others?
She's the last. She's also British-Chinese, and more a citizen of the world than restricted to any country like other versions of the character. This is also a character with more of an interest in the world than some techno-General, a dynamic personality that somehow manages to juggle the dealing with the dead so much and remaining something of a lively personality.
How will it be Ultimate?:
Stories of places with past glory, or dying breeds, or even dying planets, have always fascinated me. Something about the end game that occurs in the shadow of what was once great has always appealled to me. GFK is the last of a line that may not survive. Kinda Luke Skywalker in Jedi; naturally gifted but alone. Hence the tweaks to her abilities. And, honestly, the change of the character's very purpose and outlook.
What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?
That depends on how much time I have and how many of the mechanisms 'behind the curtain' I'm allowed to play with. But if nothing else decent writing. If I get time and allowances, anything from massive story arcs to minor side stories.

Nice choice! You're approved.
Well fuck, I ended up burning my hand while putting wood in the burner, so I'm afraid I won't be able to play for a couple days at least, too difficult to type really (I'm killing my left hand while I do this).
So, I'll just go ahead and drop this, since I know I'm most likely holding shit up.
