Maybe she is just joking around. My grandpa says things like that all the time.
So one of my grandmothers is very racist. And I never know what to say to her. The conversations are just... wow... Like last night this was our conversation:
Me: Oh that's a cute little house, you're thinking of renting it?
Gran: Yes. But I don't like the neighborhood.
Me: Why?
Gran: I can't breathe this air.
Me: What?
Gran: There is too many blacks.
Me: ...
Gran: That is why I love the wall between me and Petagaye. I don't breathe the same air as her. I'd die.
Me:...
Gran: I'd need a mask to live here.
Me: Well... Thanks for the ride. I'll see you later. *runs away*
Like what do you say to that? Shes my grandmother! I can't be like you're a dumbass, you need help. I've told her before not to be racist, but it goes in one ear and out the other.
:/

My dad says shit like that all the time, except against latinos.
"You can still love someone and be wrong for them..."
Part of it is generational. My grandmother is extremely racist and an egotistical bigot (No offense, Grandma!). But there is really nothing you can do other than realize it is wrong and not do it yourself. Don't let the vicious cycle continue with you, break it by being a better person.
Really? Did you really just say that Zuk?
What?
Dude, you just said you would get with my mom.
Well, she IS hotter than your sister.
I knew an old man once who used to refer to asians as 'them chinks we used to pile up and use for sandbags'. His name was something like... Clint Eastwood, or something. Not many people have heard of him.
"And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.'"
