"Thanks for visiting, Jun!" The kindergartner teacher, Mrs. Clemens, clapped in unison with the children as Jun concluded the performance. She organized for them to re-enter the school building, as their recess was now over and they were to return to their classroom. While he packed up his acoustic guitar into the gig bag, Mrs. Clemens laid a hand on his shoulder and stopped him in the middle of the process with a worried expression. "How's Daniel doing in the hospital?"
"The doctors told me that he was in a stable condition..." Jun paused, biting his lip momentarily before continuing. "But they wouldn't let me visit him yesterday morning, or this morning for that matter."
He looked to the ground, somewhat frustrated but nonetheless calm and composed. It had been two months since Daniel fell ill with the same sickness that took his father's life and became bedridden by it, but what could his mother do? She was already suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, and as for his older sister, he didn't know where the hell she was. Probably moved across the country to enroll in a good college, get completely wasted, and meet some guy who would fuck her brains out every weekend. No big deal, considering that she never called to check up on things with the family. Yeah, she must've been living the good life while he had to pick up the pieces that she left behind.
"I'm so sorry, honey. I haven't even heard of this Lesch-Nyhan syndrome that he has..." Mrs. Clemens gave him a quick hug, quietly reassuring that everything would be alright soon. "God bless you and your family, Junseok."
Jun nodded, saying goodbye and quietly making his way out of the school's park, now walking to nowhere in particular.
