Alright, lets start out with our source information. This is an RP from Safaiuke and it’s about a group of prisoners who live on a penal planet full of dangerous wildlife. It was started in late 2012, but as far as I know they are no longer active (the last post was roughly 2 months ago from this post). Safaiuke has a great sense of humor (check out her character sheets on her OOC thread for this!). She doesn’t seem extremely active at all, but she logged on four days ago from this post to add a picture to an album. Etc etc. . .
Okay, so the main theme of the plot is that most of our OCs will be criminals [or framed innocents or whatever excuse you want so your OC isn't a bad person] thrown on a desolate planet to fend for themselves. To make sure there is no hope of escape, the government force that put them there also put lawgivers on the planet in a single mega-outpost.
That’s pretty interesting. . .In my original world, governmental forms are just puppets to corporations. So “prisoner” can be loosely defined since many corporations might just scorch the rebellious and replace them with someone more genetically pleasing or generally more sedate. I like the idea of letting them free on the planet and I like the idea of having a single mega outpost, so I think I’ll use that.
These lawgivers will sweep the planet of contraband and then return to the outpost every so often, but for the most part the prisoners have the planet to themselves. In fact, there is so much 'freedom' on the planet that many of the gangs are fully equipped with weapons and treat the place like their own personal playground for mayhem. It has been such for so long that most of the prisoners prefer it on this planet despite its many disadvantages, simply because they are generally now paranoid about the rest of society that they would not stand to return. Our characters have a different view, and will gun down any number of these gang members and lawgivers to get their freedom.
Now we know a general idea of the prisoner culture, we know their level of freedom and their preference towards governmental forms. This makes the planet relatively dangerous because when Mercenaries (including our characters in the RP) arrive they’ll have to play politics and participate in gang warfare instead of just mercenary on mercenary warfare. That last part about gunning down gangmembers and lawgivers makes me think: what if one mercenary group got on the side (aka bought the permission) of the lawgivers? Tasty stuff!
Also, expect a few aliens here and there, and possibly an invasion from space which could cripple the government outpost long enough for us to make our daring
escape.
My science fiction roleplay doesn’t include aliens, so I don’t think I’ll add this part.
http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...plot+criminals
Now lets look at their OOC
It is year 3124.
The government that controls the Obcisor Galaxy funded a mass scale prison system as a means to rehabilitate the criminals that make up over a quarter of their total population. The program has made possible the construction of many gigantic fortresses in order to house these misfits. The largest institution is stationed on the planet of Desma 12, a planet that is known for it's two deserts that take half the planet's land and it's dense jungles that take the other half.
I’m probably going to scrap the “Obcisor” galaxy, but if someone asks “hey what galaxy are we in” I might mention it indirectly. Desma 12 is a nice name, but I feel like I want to just allude to it. I have some other raw sources that deal with primarily planetary that I want to use later, and I’m not too crazy about how “two deserts take up 50% and jungles take 50%” because that doesn’t feel realistic and my other planet I wanted to use is a water planet. So it’s a work in progress.
Every mile of this planet that is not used as part of the prison system is home to many indigenous feral monsters that make it impossible for the planet to be inhabited by anyone that was not deemed a criminal. That is why the planet was chosen to be the single largest prison in mankind's history.
That’ll add extra depth to battles. This just means our characters have to not only fight nefarious gang members and blood thirsty mercenaries, but also the wildlife in ABUNDANCE. This also sets up the world for specialized hunters (aka characters that are specifically trained to kill certain animals) and trainers who tame these beasts to fight our characters. Gladiator-esque culture also becomes more attractive with feral and exotic animals around. So I’m keeping this description.
The prison is guarded by an elite force named the Wardens. The reason why such force is needed is because Desma 12 is said to hold the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy, not to mention the obvious threat posed by the natives. The Wardens make sure that it is absolutely impossible for anything to escape, and this includes outgoing transmissions. The only thing that ever leaves the planet is the single spaceship which is used to supply the Wardens with food and ammunition as well as the new batch of prisoners, and this spaceship only comes once a year.
Once the corporation who owned this planet liquidated or went bankrupt—whatever it is that happened—this fact no longer applied. The ships stopped coming and all of a sudden mercenaries en masse appeared to gain control of the planet for the corporations who paid them. So this is how it USED to be. I’ll keep the ‘Warden’ name out of allusionary reference, but let it have an outdated and ornamental function.
On the planet, many Warden facilities are scattered about, but for some reason most of them are abandoned or held solely by a prisoner gang. Among the prisoners there is a distant rumor that there was a great uprising which would have caused this. There is another rumor that the Wardens were being starved and eventually they were overpowered by the prisoners or fled to the Ensys Tower, the Warden headquarters. No one knows how many are left in Warden control, and only a handful know of their downfall, and their mouths aren't very chatty. The only thing known for certain is that Ensys Tower is still crawling with Wardens and it is the most impregnable fortress on the planet.
Totally adds depth to the general idea of the planet, so basically everything here sounds great to me. I’ll probably change it from “Ensys Tower” to something else from another RP just to keep it from being too unoriginal.

This is a really cool, almost tongue-in-cheek Hitchhiker kind of RP, so I instantly love it. It was written in 2010 and I found it because I was stalking on Zran’s profile (who’s swag in terms of science fiction RP is unprecedented). Run Away! is written by SamTheGingerNinja and while his RP only got a whopping 3 posts, it will be invaluable to our endeavor. He’s a real cool guy (I don’t actually know) and his avatar makes me love him (as a brother). He logged on three days ago from this post, which is cool. Run Away! looked totally cool and had a plot, but was unfortunately dropped due to a lack of commitment (I think).
The Olympian Energy Corporation, the biggest, yet most relied on, ass wads in the Milky Way. If a gas giant suddenly loses a large amount of it's atmosphere or a ringed plant suddenly looks like a cake with a missing slice, you can probaly blame them and their schemes to make more energy and money. While they generally hate and don't like their workers much, they have to ignore the Talos. With it's somewhat skilled crew, the Talos is the only Asteroid Harvester that's pretty good at it's job... and as they can't be horrble to them, the O.E.C. chooses to pretend the Talos doesn't exist when possible.
So, we’ve got two companies here; the Olympian Energy Corporation and the Talos. This is our outer-planetary information for around the planet formerly known as Desma 12. While the O.E.C. are the big dogs and probably own the planet, they’re now out of business and the Talos want a piece of that cake. Most specialized workers (engineers, security personnel, pilots, etc) joined the Talos workforce, but non-specialized (janitors, miners, etc) were either liquidated into serfdom or sent down to the planet. So the description above is what things were like before the O.E.C. liquidated.
I want to keep the names just because I love SamTheGingerNinja’s avatar. Sorry if that’s not a legitimate reason. I might change Talos to something else just because Talos is a little generic.
Asteroider - nick name for someone who works in the lower levels of an Asteroid Harvester. They work the machines down there and also climb over asteroids sometimes to help them get broken down via use of tools. Usually wear a protective suit.
This will be the specialized miner. Some of them will be unjustly sent down to the planet, and they’ll teach their craft to anyone down there to take advantage of the resources on the planet. This’ll allow a whole new culture of refugees to emerge and have a fighting chance by trading and bartering. I’ll add more to this faction once I look at some other RP’s.

This RP, written by BigBullCrocker, literally started within 24 hours ago from this post. He’s got a Jamoroquai avatar and an 80’s rock signature, so I like him already. You can actually join his RP right now. Infact, you probably should because it doesn't look like it's generating a lot of interest. . .
A planet filled entirely of water, it just appeared out of the blue if you'll pardon the pun. The strangest part about it wasn't the fact it had just appeared it was the fact that there were life forms on it and they already had a strange sense of technology.
I’m not going to make my Desma-like planet be all water or just appear out of nowhere. Instead, it was originally an all water planet and most of that water was sucked up in the terraforming process.
Half of the planet was rather primitive, they got around on wooden boats and lived in small shacks or shops that floated on the river. The other half was a bit more modern, they had underground cities that were made from glass to see the water above.
So we got pre-existing technology. We’re adding another layer of depth to this planets ancient history. The initial corporation (name yet to be decided) colonized half of the planet with underground cities made of glass and rejects, degenerates and prisoners were sent to the other half, only able to make due with shoddy structures on the waters surface. This might serve as possible “prophetic” foundation seeing as the current condition of the planet is largely the same.
Also, there’s definitely going to be “ancient, gang-held glass fortress cities”. That’s going to be really cool.

Project Goliath was an RP by Vanilla Fire, who last posted in a Twisted thread within hours of this being posted. Even though this is a Zombie RP, I still want to add this RP to my planet in order to bring a sub-plot into play. While the RP doesn’t look like it got anywhere, she tried to add something original by creating an alpha zombie.
Dr. Lovell turned and watched his creation rise.
'I've done it,' he aplauded himself, and quickly checked his statistics 'is he alive?'
Dr Madison checked the pulse and brain waves of the subject. She shook her head slowly.
Lovell stared at her.
'How can that be?' he shot her with quesions 'He's breathing, his heart is beating!'
Dr Martin checked again for Lovell.
'He's ice cold, Dr,' she said quietly, and Lovell looked over his project.
'Isaac? Can you here me?'
Isaac opened his eye, and Lovell walked backwards. His eyes had become a solid milky white from the beautiful brown he used to have.
'What is this? Destroy the project,we'll start again.
Dr Madison nodded, and flipped the electrical systems switch. An ungodly roar filled the room, and Isaac, or Project Goliath, ripped the constraints off, and held Madison by her throat. He constricted it, and he felt it crush with the slightest touch.
He turned to Martin, and with his mind, he made her heart stop. She fell instantly, dead before she hit the ground.
At last, he turned to Lovell. He clicked his tongue.
'Dr,' he said mockingly 'you could have been legendary'
Isaac shoved Lovell into the chair, and strapped him in.
'Wht are you doing, Isaac?' he shouted 'Stop at once'
Isaac just smiled, and flipped the electrical systems, filling the room with screams of pain.
Isaac smiled once more, and snapped his fingers. Madison and Martin, both who were dead before, rose up, their eyes the same colour as his.
'This world will burn, he whispered grimly, and walke out of the room, the corpses shifting after him, leaving the electrified wreck of Lovell behind.
Alright, no one’s going to be raised from the dead this way, but I still find this highly valuable. I want to rewrite this little excerpt and have it as an emergency video ‘broadcast’ that the players can find. . .Rewritten to be a little more descriptive and purple. Something much more devious and robotic should be put in place. Hopefully there’ll be other RP’s that’ll supplement this idea.

Lost Beyond the Edge of the Known is written by Alkeni Synair who takes influence from the Twilight Imperium board game.
"The edges of the map are not often pushed by those who set out to do so. They are pushed by those with no other option: Refugees, runaways, criminals and the lost. There is no such thing as a successful explorer.
-Xxcha Proverb
I’m assuming Xxcha is a fictional culture. . .this is actually really, really cool. I want this quote verbatim in my planet as a popular philosophical concept.
The Red Giant Star known as Mallice is a wholly unremarkable sun. It is orbited by one planet, also called Mallice. The planet Mallice is a rocky, desolate place, without any native life beyond a few species of very resilient moss near its poles. On a surface look, it would seem an entirely useless place, to be ignored by the space faring races.
This is actually a really cool description. The sun above the ‘Desma’ planet will be called Mallice to add allusionary reference. I like it. Another planet, maybe also called Mallice will share the description provided above.
Were it not for its location, that would be a valid assumption. But it is in a location of immense strategic military and economic value. It is a wormhole nexus. The Xorrlain Sector, a region of space named for the first civilized (now extinct) race in it, possessed many wormholes that lead all over it. And many of them also lead to the Wormhole Nexus that is near the Star Mallice and its planet. Millions of light-years away from the Xorrlain Sector, the space around the Nexus is completely unexplored, and the only settlement of any note on the planet is Leer's Retreat, a smuggler's clearinghouse, trading supply-point and hideout for rejects and criminals from across the Xorrlain sector.
While most of this wont actually exist in my world, I want to use the Leer’s Retreat as a smuggling hotspot on this secondary “Mallice” planet. There will be major trade going on between “Desma” and “Mallice” (who will both be renamed sometime), especially since the O.E.C. liquidated.
Two years into the war, the insectoid Sardack N'orr launched a massive invasion of the Wormhole Nexus, seizing control of Mallice and the wormholes near it. There was only one surviving group of human warships: a five-ship force that had been near the planet Mallice when the first parts of the battle near the wormholes broke out. They knew the enemy was coming, and outnumbered them by a factor of at least twenty. Unable to flee through the wormholes, and unwilling to fight a battle they were guaranteed tp, they had no choice but to flee into the unknown space around the nexus.
I want these five ships to be O.E.C.’s last line of defense in its liquidation. They’re controlled by the “Authority” or “Wardens” that reside on Desma, and the corporations who buy out the Wardens also get this sort of inter-planetary defense. Lets look at the specifics to these ships below. . .
OOC: EFS = Earth Federation Ship.
The EFS Townsend a Dreadnought class warship. (Dreadnoughts are 3-mile long monstrosities that bristle with guns and turret and are slow-moving, heavily armored behemoths)
The EFS Nelson and the EFS Sundown, two fast moving, medium-armored and medium-armed Cruisers, the main staple of most fleets.
And two carriers, filled with fighter-craft. The EFS Gagarin and the EFS Brazil.
I’ll replace EFS to OEC and I’ll have to change “Brazil” to something else. . .and I’m not too crazy about carriers. I’ll look into it later.

The Versprach Cataclysm is written by Dxoh, the Lord of the Beards. What started out as a vague idea suddenly gained lots of cool details in the OOC, so I’m excited to explore what I could use.
I'd like to try something I had an idea for just the other day. The setting for this would be similar to Chronicals of Riddick. In the future, on a desolate, isolated penal planet, within a giant prison. I would need players to RP as prisoners and correctional officers. I would like to have approximately even numbers of both. All players would be human, and female and male would both be acceptable. Technology would be your typical sci-fi, advanced tech, but as it is a backwater prison, with mainly prisoners too dangerous for normal prisons(aka hell), the tech wouldn't be all that high quality. What I figured would be interesting to play, would be a group of prisoners and guards attempting to survive some terrible cataclysm that completely cuts them off from outside help, and kills most of the other humans on the planet. What that would be, exactly, I'm not sure. But if anyone is interested, post here! If I get a few interest posts, I'll flesh the idea out more and get working on setting it all up.
So, from this, I get a general description of the actual “prison” on the world that the Wardens had originally guarded. A cataclysmic event happened, which I’m sure I’ll find out later in the next raw source, and that’s how we got to where we are today.

The year is 2299, on the planet of Serenity. The planet is considered inhospitable, but the metal known as Starke is in abundance deep within the planet's crust. Workers to voluntarily mine the ore were scarce, so a prison was created above the mine to use the inmates for forced labor. The prison is known as Versprach.
So, the Astroiders came down to the planet and they were able to teach other refugees how to mine, and this sustained their ability to trade and survive. The metal of importance was known as Starke.
The facility consists of eight levels, the only civilization upon Serenity. Above the surface are levels one and two. Below lie three through eight. Level one consists of the spaceport, warehouse for Starke storage and spare equipment, along with labs, recyclers for air and water, and food production facilities. The main fusion generators, databanks and computers to control facility processes are here. Level two contains personnel quarters and accomadations. Level three is a security buffer with checkpoints and reinforced barriers to protect civilians from the dangers below. It also contains the medical bay for prisoners and personnel. Level four is the inmate cells and accomadations. Level five is the forges for smelting Starke ore into rods for tranport off-planet. The forges are operated by low-security risk inmates. Level six are the mines, operated by high-security risk inmates. Level seven contains backup generators, databanks and computers to control the facility processes. Level eight is classified eyes-only.
This facility, which is currently controlled by the Wardens, is very valuable despite its dilapidated state. A deal might need to be struck between the Refugees and the Wardens, or the Wardens might need to be cleared out for occupation by the Refugees. Either way, this increases the value of the mega outpost and gives me a general floor plan to it.
Available positions are prisoner (specify low or high- risk), correctional officer, maintenance crew, or scientists. I would like a good mix of all. For your Character Sheet, I need only name, age, gender, position, cybernetic enhancement (for officers, and only two), crime committed (for inmates), and a description of physical traits. A picture may be used IN ADDITION. Bio and personality, I would prefer to be revealed in the roleplay.
The scientists from before from the Project Goliath RolePlay can originate from this facility. “Isaac” (who will probably be renamed) can be a former high-risk prisoner. This works out pretty well.

The Secret Academy Of Felours is a Sci-Fi Action/Romance drama RP written back in 2009. Yurick, the GM, hasn’t been on since 2010. While obviously my own RP isn’t exactly a “School Academy RP” with miniskirts and all that, I want to see how well I can adapt this to my setting.
But first things first... Humanity has spread throughout the galaxy, and have in total, somewhat settled on 27 different planets. The deomocracy is in ruins, and the UC have lost the most of their control on all of the planets under their control and supervision to the EF. The EF holds them in tight positions, where if they as much as move a muscle in the wrong direction the workers will be shot. Another group of rebels have taken up the war, but they are loosing their planets as well, faster than should be possible with the technology they have at the present time.
But rebels are coming to get the EF, and before they know it...
Alright, lets replace “EF” with the ancient corporation that originally colonized the water planet. Scrap the 27 planet bit as well. The policies of control in this original colony grew much like what we see in the EF and rebel groups have rose to combat the oppressive regime. . .
The secret organization have successfully kept a hidden acedemy, 500 feet below the earths surface for 10 years. Now what would an organization need an academy for?
They need pilots, agents and soldiers to take the controls of different kinds of mechas and exoskeletons. They are building up manpower enough to destroy the UC from the inside, and they are using the other rebelling group as a distraction. But due to the UC's progress, they've made haste. They needed to take more people in at the academy than those who had the maximal potential. Several strange invites were send to people all over the world.
Underwater Mechas. That’s my big excitement about this now. We’re talking submarine-mecha warfare that gets really cool. And now that the world is dried up, bases can be made inside super-submarines and mecha’s originally meant for underwater warfare can be used now as a major tool of destruction for either the players in the RP or the gangs that inhabit the planet.
The invite is a simple letter with a strange handwrote note in it.
"We, the ones who will save this galaxy from the dangers to come, invite you to take the train or ferry. Pack your belongings, and wait outside your house at 12PM. Tell no one about it, or we won't be able to ensure their safety"
Those who do agree, is escorted by a member from the secret organization, to either an underground trainstation, or to a small submarine. Once inside, they will be locked in a room with no windows, so that they can't tell where they are going. In other words- There is no turning back.
If I really wanted to write an account to be able to translate the history of this academy to the players, it’d probably be like this. I might change up the wordings a little on the note card to make it feel a little more formal, but that’s about it. I like the literal allusion. Also, I find it humorous and cool that they said ‘submarine’. . .
Those who go by train, arrive in a big basement, where all the agents come and go from their daily lives, to their secret lives.
Those who go by sea, will be forced to walk, unable to see the outside of the academy, to go inside the academy, through a big door. Once inside, is a big hall called "The welcoming hall"
Now you have gotten an invite. will you take it? Will you leave it, and never take the chance of becoming a hero or a villain? will you go against the order when you grow up? Or will you go against the EF as you're supposed to?
I guess these are all different paths the characters could’ve taken. This group could’ve been revitalized by newly placed prisoners, it’s many practices reinvigorated. . .Got some potential.
Explanations:
Exoskeletion: A robotic suit, fitting tightly to the body, enabling the person inside to gain incredible athletic abbilities. that, and some even enable space travelling.
Mecha: A robot controlled by a pilot like seen in many animes. (Just a bit more realistic size)
UC: United colonies.
EF: Earth forces.
Story and plot explanations:
You, we, all of us, are, or will become, students of the secret academy. Wether you're on of those whom have great potential, or those they took because they just needed you. The plot will advance with weekly events, that WILL affect your characters. In some cases you have to actively accept the difficulties, and in others you will be forced to join the event (Since invasions on the academy and stuff, arn't very easy to avoid~)
Not everything here will be used, but if I run out of ideas I think this is a good place to look for them.
The academy:
Basement:
The basement is a gigantic underground trainstation, where the secret society's teachers and so on, arrive in from their normal lives. Students are not allowed to be in the basement, and the security is difficult to get through. Not saying it's impossible though...
First floor: The first floor is one gigantic hall, with a lot of tables and so on. This is used as the dinning hall, and the party hall, and the "welcome!" hall. There isn't a lot to describe here, except the nice little bar, and the high ammount of toilets.
Second floor: Students quarters. Here you live, breathe, eat, kiss, make out- whatever you want to. As long as you don't injure anyone else, the secret organization couldn't care less. But if you do, it might not be very nice to be you...
Third floor: The third floor is used for practicing. Classes takes place here. On this floor, you can find simulation rooms, and exoskeleton-traning modules. From there, you can also access the arena, through a long window-less hall. In other words, the third floor, is for traning you in using the machines.
The Arena: The arena a fully interactive hall, where everything can be changed to any setting you want to. Sadly, it takes some time to set up settings, so often when teachers uses the hall, they use the "blank" version, with only steel boxes and so on to train their students. Near the arena, a storage with traning and spare robots and exoskeltons can be found, often used to train students. That, and some goggles that are to train agents to focus in different situations and to train them in getting the enemy closer...
Fourth floor: Fourth floor is the boring floor. A lot of classrooms and so on, where math and other things like that, will be given to the students brains, wether they like it or not.
Fifth floor and above: Who knows? It's all extremely restricted once you get here. But rumours say, that the second and third year students can be found up there...
This is just a general plan for me to use if I ever need to reconstruct the academy. It would probably serve as a really cool ancient ‘dungeon’ that the players could explore.
http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...Sci-fi-Action)
Now you see, I wanted to write a general synopsis here about everything I've learned. . .I probably will later some day. But by looking at other RP's, I'm able to stimulate my imagination and collage together a realistic world that WILL be fun to discover from a characters point of view.
