hey, before i get started i just wanted to say that i wasn't sure if anyone had come up with this idea or something similar but here's my idea for an immersive Sandbox RP. Please bare with me as this is kinda long.

Immersive sandbox Idea:

I find a story can be boring when told by a single person. Stories seem to be better told if they’re told by more people, and different POV’s. I have a great interest in sandbox style games, stories, etc. I love seeing stories start out with a good beginning, and then blow up into this vast world of imagination, and creativity, from a lot of different aspects. The main ones I think are most important for a fun sandbox RP are; Creativity, Immersion, Depth, Interactions, Drama, Adventure, Action, and Romance. I’ve been working on a concept, and spent a lot of time doing so.

I think the best way to make a sandbox RP that has all the real elements of real life carefully put together into a vast world of ongoing imagination would be some of these key areas mentioned above; Interactions, immersion, and depth. Real life is how everyone of us live each day, we interact with new people everyday, we sometimes have bad situations happen, and have good and bad days. Real life meaning anything that would happen to anyone any day.

On the immersion side of it I thought,”how can we convey everything that happens in real life into a story or characters, and their emotions”? And “how can we make this type of Sandbox RP stand out”?

Well these are some of the things I came up with, and some of the things I noticed as I was writing this out.

Things I thought about: What is Immersion? And What does it actually mean?

Immersion is when you start to feel emotions, whether it be from a book, movie, a play, a game, or a piece of music. Immersion can be as simple as liking a song, or feeling happy at a certain part of a book because the character accomplished their goal, or it could be a sad event in a book, or movie.
Listen to this song as you read this example of what i'm talking about.

She looked at him, tears coming down her face. Her eyes piercing his as she leaves a key, and an envelope behind. She closes the car door.. *Slow Motion* he hears gunshots, as he’s hold his little siblings. He looks through the rear view mirror to see his father catch his mother as she’s falling. As his father was sitting there holding their mother… he was shot through the heart. Tears coming down his face, he looked at him, with that loving look, that says goodbye. As his father collapsed he began to tear up, like a glass of water that fell and broke, his tears began streaming down his face. He heard screaming from what he thought was his siblings, but his siblings had blacked out from all the stress. What he actually heard was himself screaming. He pressed the button that his father said to press, the car cloaked and everything went white and blurry. He later woke up, still in the car to a voice.. it sounded familiar, but he didn’t know from where, but yet distinctively different. The voice was soft, elegant, and very feminine. The voice Greeted him with safety, and tender word. He was safe now…

As you can see immersion can be the emotion you take away from that little story, combined with the music to add depth. The event or situation the character had encountered was traumatic. The added music on top of the little story is another thing I am going to talk about right now, which I like to call the 3D layers effect. I will be going into that in a few minutes, but for now lets talk about the other two aspects of this idea, interactions and depth.

Depth can be described like drawing. There are so many different ways to draw. You could draw realistically, or you could draw manga style drawings. Different style describe different emotions that their trying to convey. So depth can be called different flavors and levels of emotion. You can add different layers of varying depth to a story to convey different themes and events. For example you could take my example above and break it down into a few parts. Writing style, situations, and background theme. The writing style of which you use to convey the story is very important. You cant have a good story with a good plot and a cheesy way of writing that idea! Take some time to figure out what style you want to use to write the story. Different situations can be taken many different ways. Make sure you make your idea clear so that the reader can understand what you mean. Another thing to keep in mind or that I find helpful is music. Music is very inspirational when im writing. It helps me with my creative ideas. It can also add another layer of depth. Now lets talk about the last aspect of this idea, Interactions.

Interactions
occur everyday in real life. We go the the store to get some food, or someone comments on your outfit. Interactions are another very important feature for a successful sandbox story. There can be many different views on any particular situation. So lets use that situation from earlier to write a POV interaction.

He flips to the news station to see some BREAKING NEWS, “Military Destroys Reservation outside of major eastern US metropolis”.

The News anchor starts talking..

“Hello Folks, We have breaking news, An Indian Reservation outside of one of the major Eastern US Metropolis’ has been attacked by what my sources say to be the Governments “Science and Military Research and Development Special Unit”, or SAMRADSU for short. We are unsure if there are any survivors at this time, but what we do know is that former Technological R&D Scientist and Millionaire “Jordan Rhaptor” and his wife have been found dead 5 miles southeast of the reservation, with multiple bullet wounds on LynnBarrow PKWY. They have three kids, but the location of the kids remains unknown at this time.”

“Thanks, you heard it here folks, it is a sad day for all of us today. Jordan had the leading theory about a new element that would help us with possible new and reusable energy. Their memorial has yet to be announced.”
“ON another note, the world has yet to figure out the cause of the exponential growth of plant life over our major countries around the world.”
The man turns off the TV, not knowing what to think, or comprehend what he had just learned.. His wife comes in and asks him if everything thing is alright. He explains what was just on the news..
They talk about it for about 15-20 minutes…
“Hun, I cant explain how I feel. I feel horrible, those kids must have no clue what happened. It must be traumatizing.. poor kids..”
He Responds with.. “I know, if those were our kids, I wouldn’t know how to begin to think, or comprehend the situation.”

Interactions happen in many different ways, not just the physical ones, but also the reactions from what that family had learned. Three kids loosing their parents was unimaginable to them, but at the same time they thought about their kids and what they could have gone through. That’s another thing I love to see everyday. Its what makes us human, because we can have sympathy and compassion for people we don’t even know, but at the same time think about our own family as if we were put in their shoes. That’s one thing I would love to capture in this style of RP. If you haven’t noticed already im trying to make a realistic fictional world where you make the story but its up to you to make everything happen.

Now for the 3D Layers Effect concept. Basically the 3D Layers effect is a way to convey your story in a cinematic way by adding different layers of depth. there are 3 main types of layers. Main theme, background theme, and writing style. each of them have distinct and important roles in this concept. The main theme being your theme for the entire RP. The backgorund theme, whether it be a certain type of music or photos/art. the back ground theme is very important as i said before, because it adds a bigger layer of depth to the RP. And last but the most important one i find is the type of writing style you choose for your specific RP. Different RP's can be percipted different ways due to different writing styles.

Here is a brief summary and overview of this idea.

The Immersive Sandbox RP is a creative, and interactive expierence. which means it's your imaginations play ground. you get to decide the events, and the scenarios. you can have your own groups within the RP for differnet settings, and events. an example could be that you could want to make a character to add to the RP. Perhaps a relative or close friend that was mentioned in a previous post and you wanted to build onto that idea and bring more people into the RP. you would be able to do that because thats the point of a creative, immersive experience. So the Skys your limit.

This is just an idea, comments and suggestions are very much accepted. I am also working on an RP using this kind of sandbox style of RP, named “The Starlit Crysis”. I had to delete my past threads because I realized that I was eagar to start it. I rushed and tried to put it together too fast. But if you have any questions feel free to post them as well, or pm me.

The examples given are part of my new RP, and were put into this as an example to help get my idea out there.

Thanks for viewing this to whoever does.
