StarCraft II and League of Legends possibly in 2020 Summer Olympic Games(Forbes)

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/johngaud...-summer-games/

You’re probably already laughing at the notion of professional gaming as an Olympic Sport, but if you watched any of the 17 days of international competition, there’s quite a list of “sports” that make you wonder, “How exactly did that make it into the Games?” There are already machinations in play
Given the international popularity of eSports and the young generation of gamers that embrace huge events with large cash prizes, the leap to playing video games for gold medals isn’t as far-fetched as it may sound. Daniel Grzelak, the CEO of Gamer Institute, explains why League of Legends and StarCraft II pro gamers could be vying for Olympic gold medals sooner than you think in this exclusive interview below.
What are the odds of eSports actually making it into a future Olympics?

I’d say they’re pretty good. It’s really a matter of when. When will the shift in popular culture occur to the degree required? If you go back 20 years, you won’t find many people taking the odds to back BMX as an Olympic sport, but those who felt the coming shift in popular culture had the vision. London marks the second consecutive Olympics where BMX has made an appearance.
Is this a terrible idea? Wonderful? Would you want this to be an olympic sport or does it offend you on a personal level?

It's actually a fairly sensible move. I don't see why it couldn't happen.

The Olympics have been the stage for a variety of bizarre events. Even poetry used to be an Olympic event, so why not video gaming? Seems the logical next step to me, and I welcome it with open arms.

We both know I'd be perfect for an Olympic LoL match. ;D

eSports, sure, but if LoL is becoming an Olympic sport I think Dota 2 deserves a spot too simply because it's better.

I think he was just using them as examples of competitive games, Hank, not that they should actually become Olympic sports.

LoL is much bigger than Dota 2 though, so his suggestion makes sense. I just don't like it.

Eh... Don't get me wrong, I love LoL and video games in general. But it is in no way a "Sport"

Well the key word here is "used to". I'm guessing poetry isn't an Olympic sport anymore yes?

Besides, you make LoL into an Olympic Sport... the next thing you know you're going to have whiny 12 year old CoD players on the Olympics as well... Oh god forbid! :Shakes Head:

The point is, weirder things have been part of the Olympics.
