Leo watched her look him over, she was thinking hard about something. When she came to a decision she turned her back to him and opened a cupboard. Which was something he didn't expect. Who would have thought the Clock Tower is self winding because of some power 'source' that was located toward the top of the tower. (He didn't think it was the top of the tower because he noticed another set of wooden stairs leading up still.) And that said 'source' was in a cupboard. Leo secretly hoped it wasn't really in a cupboard because that would be less... well, it would make the whole experience less anyways.
Leo watched as the girl leaned towards the cupboard, focused on something. Then she seemed to remember him. She turned to him and gestured at the cupboard. Still a little skeptical Leo walked to it. All the while he was wondering what he was going to find. His hands were shaking and a little clammy. Of all the things he thought he'd learn about in the Clock Tower, this didn’t even begin to dawn in his mind. A renewable power 'source'. Leo stepped up to the cupboard holding his breath.
Leo looked at the gears inside the cupboard. He blinked his eyes twice in confusion. He pulled his head back and looked at the girl. Leo didn't think mechanically. At all. If anyone tried to describe how something worked, he just didn't get it. Sure he could repeat it back, or even offer suggestions on how to improve something. But he couldn't do it himself or even attempt to tell someone how something new worked.
"I don't..." Leo hesitated. This was obviously special to the girl. But he just didn't understand. "It's just a bunch of gears." He finished lamely. He was expecting something cool. Something magic. Something wonderful. But this, this was just ordinary. He found himself disappointed.
"Well, yes it's gears. It's genius. The power never stops. It's a continum. I don't see anything else that is built like this." Rapunzel told him slightly insulted in his lack of interest. How couldn't he find this amazing. He looked so excited before, but now he looked disappointed. ’The colck tower is incredibly interesting and perfect. How could he not have the same excitment I have for it' Rapunzel asked herself. She was confused. She didn't understand this boy with his expressions and curiousity. He wanted to see it and she showed him. 'He should be grateful.' Rapunzel thought whilst crossing her arms.
Leo blinked at her. It was genius as she said, he just didn't understand. How can something never need to be wound if it was made of gears? He half-smiled at her since she seemed upset he wasn't getting it.
"Sorry." He shrugged. "I don't get mechanics." He gestured at the 'source'. "The concept is pretty genius though." He watched her carefully incase she didn't like his apology. Something that could provide endless power, not only for itself but for an entire town, well it was pretty genius. He didn't even think something like that could exist, let alone be so small. Shame it was locked away. Imagine what people could do with works that never needed to be wound.
