    Messiah OOC

*DISCLAIMER* Though I, myself, associate with Christian beliefs, you do not by any means need to be a Christian or religious of any kind to join this game. The hope for the future of this role play is more historical than religious. That being said, any sacreligious comments, spoken either in character or in good taste, will not be condemned. Adversely, any religious comments should also be made in good taste. As in any other role play, I expect all players to respect the beliefs of others. If you feel unable to do this civilly, please refrain from expressing your interest. That being said, let's begin.

    c. 5 BCE: The first part of a two part census is announced, and all of King Herod's subjects are required to participate.
    c. 4 BCE: Citizens begin migrating for the census.
    c. September, 4 BCE: Jesus Christ is born in Bethlehem.
    c. 3 BCE: Six to ten months after the birth, maji visit the infant.
    c. 3 BCE: The Holy Family escapes to Egypt.
    c. 2 BCE: All infant boys in Bethlehem are killed, in accordance to Herod's decree.

You are a Judean, either living in or visiting Bethlehem during the first census during a very important time in history. Of course, you are unaware that you are going to be changing one of the most impactful stories in our world's history. All you know is what you see. You see the crowds of people invading this small village. You see a large star in the sky, shining like the sun. You see babies being killed in the streets. What are you thinking; how are you feeling? Is this the end of the world, or the beginning of a new one? What does it all mean, especially to you? You could be anyone from a shepherd to a innkeeper to a maji, but the impact is the same. No matter how this infant touches your life, you will be forever changed, for better or worse.

I plan to begin a couple of days before the holy family arrives in Bethlehem. So, that will give everyone an opportunity for character development before all of the major events begin. I have made the decision thatt the story for the maji will be located in a separate IC until their arrival. At that point, I will create a third and final joint IC. However, all OOC activities will take place on this single thread. So, welcome, and thank you all again for your interest.

I realize that in my character sheet, I omit personality, history, description, and other standard requirements. It is my personal opinion that good writing includes all of these within the story. I enjoy creating character sheets, but I don't find them relevant. However, I would like to remind everyone that this is still an advanced role play. If any player is unable to create a well thought out response when the game begins, I, as the GM, reserve the right to remove him from the story. I would like at least two paragraphs (of 3 to 5 sentences well built sentences each) per post. I also expect my players to read over each response before posting. I don't expect anyone to be perfect. I, myself, never create a perfect post. However, I do expect a basic understanding of English grammar, and hope that all of my players respect this. I am not evil, and I understand that this is just for fun, so don't let me scare you off. I just like to play with writers who are as invested in the game as myself. Don't run away yet; I promise I'm not as daunting as I may appear.

Great, guys. Act, since your magus will be from such a far land, I would like for you to consider two things before the game begins. First, what attracted him to Zoroastrianism enough to lead him to become a priest of sorts? Since it was not a relevant religion in that area during that time, it would have been rare to have found any magus or places of Zoroastrian worship. So, I'd like to see that back story fleshed out a bit more. Also, being from so far, he would need a particular reason for having loyalties to Herod. I don't expect all of these things written out here in the OOC; I would simply encourage you to dwell on them before we begin.

Ladybella, I can already see your backstory forming, and I love it. I can't wait to see this played out. I'm eager to begin with you both.

Basically this is the basis of my idea that the three Magi came from China.

Well, friends, I began this thinking my life had finally settled in some way, shape, or form, but I should have known better. I should just refrain from GMing games. So sorry to all of you, but thank you for your time! Hope to see you in other games soon.
