Hey everyone, this is a Choose Your Own Adventure that you can join at any time.

For those of you who don't know, a CYOA is essentially you leading a character through a story by picking available choices. This one has the same basis, but is a little different. There are two changes.

• You have 5 stats that I'll monitor and update as you make choices.
• You have more freedom of options than just the a/b/c ones that I list. I'll explain them to you during the game.

All you need to know to play in this CYOA is that you die if your Life stat reaches 0. I'll post the current player HUD at the start of each segment.

If you die, I will bring the story back 3-5 or so story updates and restart from there.

You hug the sidewalk, bat in hand and tiptoeing back home. On your back your carrying an important cargo: food for the rest of your group.

The trip your out on right now is the first you've taken in quite awhile; you and most people in the neighborhood stayed inside as advised in the early news reports. At least, until you all ran out of food that is.

You still have enough sense to rationalize the power and plumbing you and your group enjoy will go out eventually. Things just got so bad so quickly. The place you once called home became a ghost town. After a week, conservative estimates put the toll at 30 million in just the USA. This is a modern damn country.

And that wasn't even the worst of it. The infection wasn't even lethal, it just messed you up in the head. Made you a loon. And then those loons would make a murderer out of you when they inevitably forced your hand.

As you continue on your way back home you reach an intersection and are surprised to see a police car smashed into the side of the building to your left.

The driver side door is facing you and it is bulged open, enabling you to see the apparently unconscious police officer as well as the pistol on the left of her waist.
You can't tell whether or not the officer is alive from this far away.

You:
A)Continue on your way home
B)Go closer and discretely attempt to wake the officer with a whisper
C)Nudge the officer with your bat
D)Position yourself and strike the police officer with the bat.

Tip:
You can select an item in your inventory and choose to use it however you wish at any time. If you think giving a can of beans away or throwing them to cause a diversion is preferential to the options laid out for you, you can start another vote at will but people will have to vote for it in order for it to succeed.

B)Go closer and discretely attempt to wake the officer with a whisper

You continue to keep low to the ground and crouch-walk over to the police car. Coming closer into view with the dormant police officer you can see its a slender woman who looks sick.

Sweat is pouring down her face and the contours of her eyes are slightly darkened. She looks like she's burning up.

You drift off into your thoughts for a second and recall reports of fever being a tale tell sign of infection. You also recall specialists claiming the average human body can sometimes fight off infection given enough bed rest and liquids.

Honestly, the police woman doesn't look or smell nearly as bad as any of the loons you had to fight to get the supplies you have now, and your not really expecting a potential fight or altercation anymore. You loosen up a bit.

You still decide its best to know for sure whether she is somehow a loon, and stop a safe distance before attempting to whisper at her.

She wakes before you can whisper and weakly turns her head towards you, apparently sensing your presence. This sudden wakening takes you off guard and you have to steel yourself to not speedily strike her with the bat in your possession.

"Sam.. Sam is that you..?"

You have no idea who Sam is or what she is talking about. The woman's clearly not in the right mind, but the fact that she mumbled some English confirms to you she's not a loon, or at least won't be for awhile.

She subsequently relapses into unconsciousness and almost falls out the door, her seat belt awkwardly bracing her.

Your confident you can reach her fire arm with relatively no danger to yourself at this point.

Up till now your neighborhood of misfits (lets call it what it is) had been getting by simply by not being the target of loons or bandits. Your group has never had much in the ways of actual protection or armament or defense besides dull kitchen knives. The gun would be a very real boost to security and peace of mind.

On the other hand, you can unbuckle the police officer and walk her to your neighborhood where she has at least a chance of surviving. Home admittedly isn't really that far from here, but you can't really see the benefit of being heroic in this situation.


Before you can decide what to do, out the corner of your eye you glimpse what appears to be one lone loon approaching from through the passenger side window. You instinctively move out of the way so as to not also be seen through the window.

You can't tell whether its just wandering down this road by chance or has actually spotted you, but you definitely know its a loon by the way its moving.

It clumsily falls down, then gets back up and slowly continues down the road en route to you. Probably not a fast one.

You:
A)Unbuckle the police officer and try to wake her.
B)Free the police officer's pistol from her waist .
C)Get low by the police car and see if it passes by.
D)Crouch behind the police car and position yourself to attack it when its close.
E)Leave the area and continue home.
