    Forging the Second Empire [OOC]

"And in the child's forehead was the Chim-el Adabal, alive with the dragon-fires of yore and divine promise,
and none dared obstruct Sed-Yenna when she climbed the steps of White-Gold Tower to place the babe Reman on his Throne,
where he spoke as an adult, saying:
    I AM CYRODIIL COME."

It is the year 1E 2703. An ambitious warlord by name of Reman is attempting to unite all of Cyrodiil under one banner once more in the face of an impending Akaviri invasion by the Tsaesci snake-race... but the petty kings of Colovia and the Nibenay Valley are content with their own rule and oppose this young upstart and his plans. Their arrogance threatens to become Cyrodiil's undoing.

However, there's progress being made. The King of Skingrad, Baurus, has pledged to support the young Reman, who is staying behind in Skingrad to work out the details of the arrangement between them. Meanwhile, Reman's lieutenants and militia march for Kvatch, the ruler of which, a duke by name of Sagatarrius, has made it perfectly clear that he doesn't intend to support Reman one way or another. The time has come to remove him from his post.

    Copied from the interest check:
And that's where we come in. A pretty simple premise based on the by now near-mythical early years of Reman Cyrodiil, the Worldly God. My attempt to give this fantastic period in Tamrielic history solid shape and tap the potential it has for great storytelling. This is a time in which Cyrodiil was still a jungle before Tiber Septim changed it with his Voice. A time in which the Cyrodiilic people were more like Romans than the medieval people we saw in Oblivion. This RP will be about humanity's second rise against its enemies, the ruins of the Alessian Empire scrambling back up to their feet with Reman as their leader.

You will be playing the lieutenants of Reman, some of his closest confidants and specialists of great skill. Remarkable people that were instrumental in his victory over the Tsaesci but whose names were lost to history. While it's possible for one or two people to play a different race, the lion's share of you will be Imperials. Be creative about how you got where you are or learned your particular skills, since this takes place in a time before the Fighters, Thieves or Mages Guild existed, nor was there a Dark Brotherhood. The lack of detailed lore about this period means you get a lot of creative liberty here. Make good use of it.
That's the introduction. I'll set up the starting situation more in the first IC post. But first, time for you lads to create some characters.

Name: (last names not necessary; many historical figures of this time seemingly didn't have any)
    Age:
    Gender:
Race: (Imperial and one or two Nords, Bretons or Redguards)
Personality: (remember that your characters are part of the leadership cadre of this whole crusade)
    Biography: (be interesting!)
Skills: (don't give me a list of skills, like One-Handed and Destruction -- describe what your character can do somewhat specifically)
Inventory: (any important or defining items your character has, but no Daedric artifacts or some shit like that)
    Misc: (anything else?)

Feel free to ask questions. I didn't elaborate very much here because I'm not sure what to put here. I'll do more exposition in the first IC post, as I said. But ask anything you want to know here.

These Lieutenants, are they all combat based? Is there an age range? What about history wise? Have they been with Reman for a while?

No, combat skills are not a must. Reman's inner circle includes tacticians, diplomats and the like too. They're likely to be young and visionary people but I'm not setting an age range. Reman's crusade is in its infancy at this point and has only been in the works for a few months, but feel free to make a character that's known Reman for longer.

That made me realize I made a mistake in the character sheet. I will only allow human races, period, preferably Imperials, with one or two of the other types, but what I wrote in the sheet suggested I accepted all human races and would make exceptions for the other races. I'm not sure why I did that since it's not true.

Anyway, write a sheet. If I think the character's good enough it can stay.

    Name: Tor'keli
    Age: 26
    Gender: Female.
    Race: Redguard.
Personality: Tor'keli is not a stereostypical woman. She has no desire to clean, and cook, instead she has always wanted a life of action and purpose. She has a tough aggressive attitude about her, something that makes some take pause when they interact with her. She's quite pirdeful and alway's wants to be right when she's in a debate. She likes it when she starts an argument, especially when it is between two other people, and she has the chance to watch them argue. If the diagnosis was around in this world/time she would have ADHD, considering that she never can stay still and always has to be on the move. She doesn't like to stop when she could be somewhere discovering something. She's quite reckless and will often run into problems and fights before she even registers it herself. She's sarcastic and cynical, and not afraid to tell anyone to shut the hell up.
Biography: Tor'keli's mother died during child-birth, and her father was quite distraught after that. Though she managed to be raised well, she still was a farmer's daughter and was forced to work the land for most of her younger years. Though she had always sought out a life of adventure and action, and her thoughts always drifted away from that tiny farm. So when she was eighteen she left the farm, and became a bodyguard/warrior. For the first couple of years it was mostly her doing mercenary jobs, and protecting criminals, but once she heard of Reman's plan, she joined his cause. It was hard at first, being seen as not a warrior but a woman, and she was forced to prove herself over, and over again. But still nothing seemed to come from it. That was until there was a high scale bandit attack on their group. Tor'keli defended Reman, when the man had become disarmed and in trouble. Thus giving her the man's trust. Since then she's moved in the inner circle of Reman and his top followers, and has become a trusted and loyal member of their cause.
Skills: Tor'keli is a warrior through and through, and is quite skilled in the art of combat. Though she's not good at ranged weaponry she's good at close hand-to-hand combat. She's also an exceptional blacksmith, and some could argue that this is her best skill. (However she would hope to think that her fighting remains at lead.)
Inventory: She doesn't have anything too interesting. Her armor is Steel Plate (however she does not wear the helmet unless in combat.)
    Misc: N/A

Biography: Tor'keli's mother died during child-birth, and her father was quite distraught after that. Though she managed to be raised well, she was also raised in a home that worshiped the daedric prince Molag Bal, since her grandfather who apparently got help from the prince to save him of vamprisim, in exchange for the worship of all his desendents to come. (Though Tor-keli came to her own opinion to worship Mora as well, even at the fears of her father that Molag would become angry. However nothing as of yet has happened.) Her early life was as a farmer's daughter, but when she was in her teenage years she sought out the life of a warrior, and a blacksmith, working for whomever she believed deserved her assistance. So she's joined Reman's force to help remove the threat's that Cyrodiil faces.

Misc: She worships the daedric princes; Molag Bal, and Hermaeus Mora.
Reman wields the Amulet of Kings, the very object that lights the Dragonfires created by Akatosh, chief of the Eight Divines. It's possibly the most potent example of the rule of the Divines you can find in Tamriel. I find it hard to believe a Daedric worshiper would follow Reman at all and I find it even harder to believe Reman would pick a person like that to be one of his lieutenants. My version of him in this RP wouldn't, so I'm not going to accept the Daedric associations. I like the character though.

Additionally, the sheet doesn't tell me how Tor'keli became part of Reman's inner circle. Just joining him and his forces won't do the trick and I'm curious to know how a Redguard (and a female, no less) won Reman's favor.

    Name: Claude
    Age: 21
    Gender: Male
    Race: Breton

Personality:Claude is a smart, seductive young man who is totally dedicated to hedonism in his personal life and to the betterment of humankind both publicly and personally. Claude is incredibly personable with quite a debonair quality about him. He is generally calculated but loyal, sophisticated but progressive. Claude is a revered diplomat and tactician despite his hedonistic lifestyle and sexual deviancy. He is immensely loyal to Reman due to his fathers connections with Reman's father and their friendship as children.

Biography: Claude's father, Devlyn, was a close companion to Reman's father, who's name is now lost to history. Devlyn was a talented Sorcerer before his son was born. He had mastered arts which took Tamrielic society centuries to understand. Intense, mind-melting illusions, mind altering magics and crippling forces of undead derived from necromancy. This is how Devlyn and Reman's father became so close, Devlyn would provide the warlord with hordes of undead troops to assist in a variety of his battles. Devlyn's wife was a cleric who traveled through Hammerfell using her magics to heal. Eventually she made her way back home to Highrock where she met Devlyn. The two conceived a boy who, like all the males in Claudes family, killed his mother because of his intense magical forces. Devlyn went insane trying to resurrect his wife who he, all along, knew would die. He began working on spells to bring people back from the dead in their original forms, rebirth; a huge explosion in his lab killed him at the height of his insanity. For a short time, as toddlers, the two were inseperable friends. Claude was sent to family in Choral who taught the boy how to be a proper Aristocrat, as the family had been directly connected to the regency there. At the young age of fourteen Claude left his home after getting in some trouble for having an affair with a local blacksmith. He signed on with a band of performers and became famous due to his "mind tricks". Five years after joining the group, Claude finds himself face to face with Reman, the man who was once the boy who would play hide and seek with Claude. The mere sight of eachother forced a subconcious link to be obvious. The two immediately knew who the other was. After the two caught up, and Reman felt the potential of Claude, he immediately asked him to join his forces. Claude accepted and from then on was Reman's lieutenant of diplomacy and a helpful tactician. The bond which had been formed by children was solidified by men. Claude was not without combat skills however. His father always trained him in the arts he was so masterful at; also, the family magic combat technique. Long before Devlyn went insane he had constructed a small magical gem as a necklace and given it to his son. He knew that once the boy had grown to understand magical forces he would unlock what had been hidden in the gem. And so Claude did, at the age of twelve. The gem held all the family secrets which helped him become the masterful sorcerer Reman employed. Claude has since become an invaluable part of Reman's plot to unify Cyrodiil.

Skills: Illusion magic regarding perception and understanding, this can range from little, visual, illusion tricks, to causing subordinate behavior within weak minded people. Claude uses his skills with Alteration magic to allow him to transform his skin to a scaley material which makes it very difficult to hurt him with a sword or any other stabbing weapon. Claude is able to summon creatures from the deadric lands as well as rise dead beings to fight for him; however, due to the fate of his father, he is afraid to use it. He uses destructive magic loosely as it depletes his magika reserves greatly with, what he refers to as, "less than spectacular effects". Mostly he uses his skills at destruction magic to reinforce his magical combat technique. The technique is something passed down from father to son in Claude's family. It centers around the use of magical aura to supply one with superhuman strength and take the fight right up close and personal. Claude is rather uncomfortable with weapons, having had to use them as an aristocrat as a show of manhood. Half of this technique working is the ability to make his skin into a tough material, while the other half is supplementing the casters own strength with magical aura in order to make him or her stronger. In a sense, Claude uses pure magika in order to destroy his foes. For those who would say this is a foolhardy method and is sure to leave him wanting of magika, Claude generally responds, "You must not know my family, we have a knack for making magika last...". This quote suggests Claude's family has a secret shared within their bloodline to make the trick work. Claude is trained, at his own bequest, in almost every known martial art known to Tamriel; even without his magical assistance Claude is quite capable of taking someone down with his bare fists, feet, and other parts of his body.
Inventory: Claude generally wears fine cloth. On the battlefield, if he feels like it, he wears a leather armor suit fitted with the ability to carry plenty of potions. Plenty of potions. A magical gem necklace given to him by his father.

I'm sure there are plenty of mistakes up there, I didn't read it over. Let me know if anything has to be changed.

Biggest mistake is that Reman isn't old enough for that story to work. He's only a few years older than Claude now. Other than that, the character's fine.

Was there someone who Reman took after, perhaps his father? Is there anyone Devlyn could have been indebted to that would have an effect on Reman?
