Always bring a banana to a party... (Who-niverse RP)

The Plains - Winter Festival of the Tiffanae

    Kestrel Fox

The Swift Plains tribe had arrived to the main festivities early and had claimed a prime place on the eastern side of the small city that sprung up, their tents forming a lavender bloom atop the small hill. Kestrel Fox and her mother had spent many hours over the last few days, as they bundled herbs, watching the advance of the other tribes across the plains to set up their camps the long stalks of blue purple grasses parting like waves around the groups. Their own small tent had been set slightly to one side, not enough for an outsider to notice but enough for Kestrel and her mother to be set apart from the others. No matter how accepting and friendly the people were, Kes had always been a being apart with her paler then normal skin and less pointed ears. As they had worked, her mother humming all the while, Kestrel had smiled in pride at how strong and beautiful the woman was. She has done it all on her own and would do so again. How many women could say the same? Her mother had caught her eye and laughed, reading the young woman's thoughts upon her face and patted the ground beside her. Slipping back to the ground beside her mother Kestrel grinned and lifted her voice up, the two had sung softly together welcoming the night, the sounds of tools striking as camps were set, fires stoked and laughter as preparations were made for the main celebrations to come.

The Tardis Re-accelerated into existence with it's distinctive whooshes and drones. It appeared on a hill side overlooking a small tent city. The Doctor bursted out of the tardis with a smile on his face.
"We're here, Yves five at the time of the big winter celebrations!" He shouted as he paced around a fairly large rock.
"On my list of all time favorite planets Yves five is about number...2953, just above Antartices, that place was fun before it melted." He ranted giving a slight spin with his arm's out expressing the warm air that Yves five.

The Doctor walked happily the tent city, getting distracted at every stall. One stall sold fruit, the other cakes another one children dolls that he insisted on buying one
"I just love this festival. Tell me Smith would you like to know about the history of Yves five?" He asked happily as he bit into a rich purple citrus fruit. The Gallifreyian nodded to a group of Female of Yyves known of them very old. They looked quite shocked by the lack of pointed ears and pale skin.

Major Smith trotted down the stalls, looking left and right at all the bright colours, smiles and so on. This was a good sort of place for the Doctor to be at right now. The future soldier was able to let his guard down for once, reaching up to let Jasper - who was perched on his right shoulder - snuffle at his fingers. The couple got some odd looks for not being quite like the rest of people on Yves - none of the ears and so on - but it was a festival and a time to get together with lots of different sorts of people at this sort of thing, so the mood was light and happy even so. Mostly they were glad to see new people around their part of the space-time continuum.

"Go on then, Doctor." He smiled invitingly at the offer of a history lesson, and who better to give it than a time-traveller. While the Gallifreyan launched into the inevitable educational avalanche, he tossed some generic coins at a shopkeep - most people will take anything as currency so long as it's round, metallic and shiny enough - and helped himself to some sort of sweet baked... lizard?

Kestrel moved between the stalls, a woven basket resting upon her hip, eyes wandering from stall to stall as she searched out the merchant she needed. Each stall held a differentarray of goods and Kes let her fingers wander across a row of shiny pebbles used for crafting and then the length of an arrow, smiling in response to the stall holders banter. Today Kestrel wore her hair down, flowing freely about her shoulders as she moved, the cream toga falling to mid calf. Her long slender limbs were entwined with bracelets around her upper arms, her leather sandals weaving their way up her calves and it would have been hard to tell her apart from any of the others.

She paused for a moment to purchase some sweet bread, tucking her hair back behind her ears up avoid it becoming entangled in the honeyed toppings. She giggled to herself as a long strand trailed down her chin attracting the attention of the stallholder. The old woman first smiled then a frown quickly crossed her face as her eyes lit upon Kestrels small ears then her other obviously Tiffanae features.
"This is a bad thing.. What your parents they do.. This is a bad thing." Her voice was thin, reedy and grew in pitch as she spoke. "You are that one? The one with the much raking mother?"
A few other voices chimed in now, older women, cursing the girl and her parents. The previously peaceful market stall quickly growing more raucous.

Startled, Kestrel took a step back, it had been a very long time since she had dealt with these prejudices though it was much more common with the older ones.

The doctor gave a sly smile, as he bought a stick of fried lizard. "You see Yves 5 is a home to 5 races. The 5 races all live on a single part of the land, the hills of the Tiffane, the Racdal of the desert, the Biltair of the seaside and the Kor of the seaside. They occasionally war with each other but theres never anything serious. In light of there last war, they made the Ying-ra-lan a giant peace festival and I come every year." A Biltar walked past and the doctor nodded to him
"Ral, alpa tarry." The Biltar said as he walked past.
    "Retal, bel,ren." He replied.
The Doctor heard yelling and began to walk to the stall.

Roland noticed several old people were yelling at a yound girl. The Doctor fumed a little as marched in front of the girl he put his arms up in a defensive pose.
"STOP, STOP RIGHT NOW!" He yelled at the old women.
"...How dare you? This girl may be a half caste but she must not be excluded. This is a peace festival and you are the most peaceful of the five races." He took the girl's hand.
"Do you have family around? I'll buy you some shrimp, I just love shrimp." He asked a warm smile on his face.

Smith's enjoyment of his honeyed Lacertilia was somewhat soured when he and the Doctor somehow managed to stumble across the one display of unpeacable behaviour in a peace festival. He hadn't let on that the technology injected into him had automatically translated the language the Doctor and the aliens had been speaking and instead acted suitably impressed, but when it came to serious action, things were a bit less passive. He watched the crowd as the Doctor made a scene, rushing forward and grabbing the girls' hand. Naturally, most of the people involved weren't exactly happy to see what was going on and Smith walked slowly backwards, not quite wanting to take his eyes off of a crowd that could turn violent at any given moment.

"Um. Doctor." He affected a casual, even tone of voice, wondering just how far this could go. "How quickly could you get the TARDIS to us? We might need to get those shrimp to-go.."

The hand upon her arm was the first indication Kestrel had of the Doctor's presence. Stumbling backwards with her hands over her ears, basket perilously hanging askew, Kes had been expecting to back slowly away and make her escape into the rest of the crowds.

She heard his words as though from far away and wasn't even sure she had heard most of it properly, his voice was strangely accented and when Kestrel hazarded a glance up to his face she was surprised to find an off worlder. It made sense when she thought about it, how else would care.

The emerged from the thickest part of the group and she managed to gasp a reply that seemed highly inadequate.
    "Whats a shrimp?"

Kestrel's light eyes flickered to the other man speaking, uncertainly, they were both so foreign to what she knew. She opened her mouth to speak when one of the old women threw a piece of fruit their way.

The Doctor spun a little when Smith felt threatened.
"There's no need to be worried I really much doubt it might turn violent." He smiled and slapped his hand a little. He looked around and gave a weak smile it seemed this might turn violent.
"Alright, Smithy, it seems running might be a good option right now." The doctor voiced squeaked as he said this. A young male Tiffane had picked up a small baton and was staring the Time lord down.
"What's a shrimp?" The girl asked almost unaware how the Doctor had just put all there well being in danger.
"Oh, I like this girl, right in the face of danger and she's still curious about shrimp. Oh joy, Oh joy..." The doctor said almost ranting.
"...and a shrimp is a small shellfish, Australians call them prawns." He muttered before turning around and hightailing back to the Tardis which was located about 500 meters outside the tent city.
"TO THE TARDIS!" The old Gallifreyian yelled sticking his finger in that direction.

Sure enough, it was time to run. The crowd had turned from being merely disgruntled to actively... was there a word for "picking up weaponry and bits of rocks to beat and bludgeon you with"? Well, they were that. That was the word that best described what they - "RUN!"

Smith broke off in a sprint in the direction of the TARDIS. The problem with a big crowd like this was that there wasn't really any place where you weren't running towards some angry villager, so the best you could hope for was less of them. Smith ran ahead - assuming the Doctor would be dragging the girl with him by the wrist like he usually did - jinking left and running through one of the tents in the hopes of cutting through some of the crowd and getting to safety a little quicker.

Kestrel was dragged along with the Doctor, her hand entwined with his, though his enthusiasm alone would have prompted her to keep up with him. She cast a look back over her shoulder and tightened her grip upon her basket, eyes growing large at the usual peaceful people swelling into an extremely angry mob.
"You didn't even shoot at them!" She exclaimed in disbelief, ducking her head as they passed a little near to a market stall.
