Alternate History of A Roleplay of Ice and Fire

It would be too hard to rewrite the entire history Martin created, and a lot of the history needed to provide the backdrop for this story would be lost so, the characters in this did the exact same things as what happened in the original history but with different names, so we can start off how it did in Game of Thrones, with different character names in history, to completely different characters in the present.

So it's the year 398 AL, 100 years since the scripted events of the Game of Thrones past, and there has been an entire new generation of characters, played by us, introduced into the Realm. Same standings in the realm as it was at the start of GoT, and the backstory for the peaceful 100 years after the Rebellion, is that the realm is in peace and nothing major happens, apart from the events that are shown in every character's bio.

If you don't know the story of Westeros and Essos, the land of George R. R. Martin's ultimate creation, no problem - this RP strays from the story of the original, sprouting all new characters and stories for the roleplayers to bring to life. The only similarity is the same lands and same House names, but in no way the same characters.


This also means Lannister's are Wardens of the West, Arryns of the East, Stark's of the North etc.

Some Basic Rules


I want to start it off basic, with no relationships between any other characters as of yet, so no marriages if you are creating a character.
Only one character per roleplay please, I hate multiroles.
If you want a good challenge for more experienced roleplayers try and pick one of the smaller Houses which don't have much known history of their area or basic history, or places we haven't discovered.
If you want to roleplay is Essos (The Free Cities - Braavos, Pentos, Qarth, Summer Isles etc...) then feel free, no bounds on who you want to be.
Don't all try and start the roleplay in court, maybe some people in the Night's Watch or the Iron Islands?
No restrictions on language or violence, but don't go overboard on the sex, remember kids have access to the website.

Bio: Cain Lannister was not born to became a handsome man, on the contrary his outward appearance had allways been more than slightly off putting. Nonetheless he was born a Lannister and one with great plans, ambitions and strenght of will to boot. Cain wasn't very keen on learning the ways of war, for he himself would have preferred poetry, or even diplomacy. To his minor chargin his wishes were not taken in to account and over the years the pale Lannister became quite adept at the skills of warfare - though he never dismissed a chanse to practice his speaking skills if an opportunity presented itself.

Four years ago his father died of an illness and Cain siezed the opportunity to take his place as the head of his house. The general populace likes the young Lannister over his deceased father, but there are ofcourse people who think him too young to carry all the weight of power and responsibility he has piled on his shoulders. Cain's own opinion on the matter is that he can carry whatever weight is put on his shoulders and those who argue against him on the matter had better find a more pressing matters to tend to.

Appearance:

Cain stands 7 feet tall, though his broad shoulders make him seem even more so. His face is rather... unappealing to say the least, with very sharp features that make him look like something that parents use to treathen their children with so that they would do their chores without complain or act politely while the grandparents were visiting - in other words his face looks like it has been carved with an axe and the finishing touches have been done with a mallet.

His large nose that has obviously been broken once or twice resembles a beak of some kind of a large bird - perhaps a hawk. The jutting, sharp chin and high cheekbones added with the very gaunt cheeks and a large brow really do not fit well with the nose. Deep from within the mans skull stare a pair almond shaped eyes, which are icy blue, like the unforgivingly cold winter nights, though if the sunlight touches them from just the right angle they seem emerald green.

His usually messy, shoulder lenght hair is kept away from his face with a red strap of cloth. The cloth covers a scar on Cain's left temple and adds some contrast to the blonde hair.

Weaponry: A thin bladed sword with a basket hilt that resembles the head of a lion. The sword is made of Valyrian steel and the words "Hear Me Roar" engraved rather skillfully to the blade. The pommel has a small ruby on it. Cain has given the name 'Debtpayer' to the sword

House Martell

Title/Occupation: Princess of Dorne and Sunspear
Family: The Princess of Dorne has three younger brothers, all of whom have many sons and daughters.
Basic Traits: Allyria Martell has, and always will, remain unbowed, unbent and unbroken. She is stubborn, outspoken and strongly opinionated, but also graceful, composed and outgoing. Her barbed tongue is known to get her into all kinds of political strife with the lords north of the Red Mountains, and even the lords sworn to her house. To her, legacy is very important. She has taken it upon herself to educate her younger nieces and nephews, the future princes and princesses of Dorne. Her progenies mean a lot to her, and no code of honour will stop her from protecting them. She is adamant that they are fostered in Sunspear, with her, and not with any other lord. She is manipulative, suspicious and always questioning motives. She is also known to refuse the kindness of other lords, because she will never owe anything to someone who isn’t a Martell.
Weapon: She’s no fighter, but she does own a steel dagger called ‘Burst’. Its crossguard is shaped like a sunburst, with a large topaz wreathed in golden needles that vary in length. Tennos Yronwood had it forged for her as a wedding present.
Appearance: Princess Allyria favours after her mother in appearance. She stands at five foot three with a smooth and slender body. She is olive-skinned with long black hair that flows down her back like a river of midnight. She has large, deep-set onyx eyes and thin black eyebrows. Her face is defined by high cheekbones and soft, pouty lips. Though youthful, the occasional wrinkle forms around the outside of her eyes.

When in the comfort of the Water Gardens, Allyria wears loose silks so that she can feel the heat and the wind upon her flesh. When attending to matters of court, she conceals herself with flowing silks and samite, jewels and other ostentatious flourishes of wealth. She always wears a golden chain around her neck that falls just below her collarbones where an oval amber gemstone dwells, encompassed by a frame of gold shaped to imitate a chalice.
Bio: Allyria Martell is the eldest child of Princess Elysanor Martell and Marius Dayne of Starfall. The Princess of Dorne lived a rather luxurious life, full of song and festivities and fond memories of bathing in the marble fountains of the Water Gardens. She also recalls travelling all across Westeros, even so far as the Wall. She took interest in song and dance, but had a strong penchant for writing. She wrote stories of talking snakes and giant scorpions that warred with men, as well as scribing her own renditions of classic tales such as the story of Florian and Jonquil. When she was six, her first brother was born, and after that her other brothers. Six years apart was not so much a gap, but as they all grew up, her brothers were all bonded with each other and she was just 'the other'.

When she was one-and-ten, her life changed. Her mother took the family to Blackmont on the Torentine in order to strengthen relations between the Dornishmen. Here, she met Olyvah Blackmont, the youngest of House Blackmont. She was immediately attracted to him, and they soon became inseparable. Blackmont brought out the worst in the young princess. He took her maidenhead and manipulated her into doing things for his own personal amusement. He often played games with her, amused by her tears and sadness, but still, he loved her, and she loved him.

Upon Allyria’s nameday three years later (at that point, she was four-and-ten), she was to be wed to Tennos Yronwood. She and Tennos got on well, and grew close, but only as friends. She had always figured that one day, she would love him for more. When she confided in her mother about this, her mother decided to foster her to the Yronwoods for a year, so that her and her betrothed might come to truly fall in love. It was decided that when she and her father returned to Yronwood, Tennos and Allyria would be married. Olyvah did not like this at all, and attempted to impregnate her several times in that year, though nothing ever came of their forbidden unions. He gave up and left her. Though saddened by his departure, she continued her life with Tennos Yronwood, and they married.

By the time she was seven-and-ten, Allyria had been pregnant four times. She could conceive, but all of her children were stillborn. A maester declared that she was barren, which upset Allyria greatly. Since finding out, she has always felt a void within her. Tennos soon grew to resent Allyria. She guarded herself and her body, until finally she gave up and left Yronwood, wanting to find Olyvah again.

However, she never did. Even in Blackmont, they never knew where he went. When she was eight-and-ten, she returned to Sunspear, disgraced. But she didn’t care. She was stronger now. She wasn’t the princess who bathed in the Water Gardens and wrote romantic tales and sang songs of mirth to her parents. She was hard as stone, and sharper than any spear in the Seven Kingdoms. Against her mother’s wishes, she remained in Sunspear, though still technically married to the Lord of Yronwood.

Her parents perished soon after she returned, which meant that she was now the Princess of Dorne and Sunspear. She married her younger brother off to a Yronwood maiden as an apology for her departure. Her brothers remained by her side in Sunspear with their wives, who Allyria resented. She also despised their children, but began to love them, discovering that they made her feel warm and happy. Her children, as she calls them, are her legacy now, regardless of what her brothers think. She refuses to foster them, even the boys, as she distrusts the other houses. Though the children have filled part of her void, she still yearns for Olyvah Blackmont, who she had never found.

After a few years of being Princess of Dorne, Allyria became the 'Viper of Dorne'. She is highly opinionated, especially when it comes to the other houses. She is regarded as a political menace, who relishes in the provocation of the other houses, especially the Tyrells and the Redwynes. Often, she will frequent King's Landing to sew a bit of chaos. She also hates the Lannisters, the Baratheons and the Targaryens. During the War of the Usurper, one of 'her children' (Elys), wedded to the eldest son of the Mad King, was raped and killed with her two children. She believes the Lannisters and Baratheons responsible, and blames the Targaryens for letting Elys die and not bringing her to Dragonstone sooner.

House Redwyne

Lady Joanna Redwyne — Played By: Ladybella

Bio:
The first born of Lord Theodin and Lady Alyssa Redwyne. Soon after her brother Orren was born, but by then Joanna had grown into a toddler who, any chance she got, was caught with a sharp weapon in her hands. Lady Alyssa thought Joanna should be raised in the house, and become a lady like herself. Lord Theodin believed Joanna should be taught the ways of war, she was afterall the first born. Lady Alyssa got her way for sometime, but as soon as Joanna understood what each path meant for her life, she automatically chose her fathers. Lady Alyssa was horrified, and went to the extreme of ignoring her daughter for a week to try to convince Joanna to become a lady. It didn't work; Joanna was so thrilled by the sword fighting and the jousting and the archery, she wore out her trainers. She became her fathers apprentice, going through the motions to become a knight herself. This included taking care of her fathers horse, his armor, weapons and clothing worn during a tournament. She didn't mind the work because while she worked she learned. She picked up everything at such an alarming speed, she was knighted before the customary age; 21. Although not by much, Joanna became a knight in her twentieth year.

Amongst all of this training, Lady Alyssa insisted that Joanna be taught how to properly act as a lady. Joanna didn't like the idea, but for once, Lord Theodin agreed it would be a good idea for the young girl to learn something more ladylike. As she practiced holding her tongue, and using the words 'my lord' and 'my lady' she also practiced her sword fighting, archery and jousting. By the time she was knighted, she was a beautiful young woman, practiced in the art of dancing, humility, battle, game, drink and food. She was all the best of a Lady and all the best of a knight in one person.

Bio: Victor Reyne was born to his mother in the nurse's infirmary of the great castle Castamere. His mother was a Hightower, the great and powerful house of Oldtown, and his father a great man of honor - high up in the Targaryen court, with wealth to last them several lifetimes. Victor himself was the first-born son of the Reyne lord, so instantly he was destined to be head of House Reyne. Victor had a decent childhood, but not one of freedom like only the peasant children of the great cities's backstreets had; Victor was always accompanied by an adult, we'er it be his father, another family member, the city maester, the master-at-arms. At the age of none-and-ten Victor began all kinds of training, with seldom enough time to even try to play anymore. Swordplay, writing, mathematics and lordship - Anyone knew Victor was being bred and trained to rule the city, it was obvious, and it told it in the family tree.
Five years of rough, hard training, one tourney against other heir boys, second place and then he was off sent to squire for a knight. This knight was the second son of the Tyrell lord, one Ser Jaroh Tyrell, whom was six-and-twenty but fought valiantly we'er he went and became a good inspiration to Victor. The young Reyne spent a year and a half in the walls of Highgarden, and another year off around the realm with the Tyrell knight. They had a run-in with a petty group of outlaws once, just the knight and his squire against four armed outlaws, but Victor drove an arrow through one's throat while two others attacked Jaroh, but he drove one back and at the same time chopped another's leg off. Victor had aimed at the fourth outlaw who also had a bow out, poised and ready to shoot, but Victor was faster and the brigand was writhing on the floor with a feathered arrow through his gut. The last standing outlaw was caught with a sword to the throat and an arrow to the balls. When they returned to Highgarden, Victor was bid farewell by everyone he knew of the Tyrell garrison, and of Jaroh - and then Victor was sent to King's Landing to claim his knighthood. Victor was then sent out into the east, on the King's orders, he was supposed to be fighting in the Vale against the Mountain Clans as the Arryns were so completely against them they sent others to do their dirty work.
A raven flew to the Gates to the Eyrie, and soon enough a rider came to tell of the news, and that Victor need return home immediately to look after his father. He arrived back soon after and looked after his father at an old age, until sadly, The Lord of Castamere died in his sleep, acceptable for a great man's standing. Victor was five-and-twenty, almost as old as the Tyrell knight had been, and Victor too was soon set to gain a squire. Not now, alas, as being the first-born son of the his father, Samwell Reyne, he had to put aside his knightly duties and become a lord. So, with some regret, Victor claimed his lordship, and was again sent off to King's Landing to honor it. There, he was urged to stay and take part in the Small Council, by the current Hand, the now elderly Lord of Highgarden, the father of the knight he squired for. So there Victor learnt some more, made alliances, some enemies, may have got a whore or two with child, and then that day came, that crazed and confused day. The Lord of Highgarden, the Hand of the King died. And when the matter of the new Hand arose at the following Council, which the King attended that day - all eyes had turned to him. He was almost three-and-thirty then, having gained a good place in the court, higher than ever his father had rose.
Victor accepted. He had to.
And from there it was heavy loads of work day in, day out, with seldom any time to do otherwise. He saw the Council change and form, under his own command. He was the second most important man in the realm, but Victor didn't realise it.
The realm was in peace. But for how much longer?

Appearance
Lord Stark stands at an even six feet tall with a muscular but toned body. With a pale skin tone, his dark brown eyes seem to darken against his pale skin. His shoulder length dark brown hair and the full jawline facial hair and goatee at the chin conceal most of his face and head, with a fair sized scar etched from the bottom of his chin and jaw up to his lower lip in a straight line, cutting at the dark brown goatee. Lord Stark has another visible scar above his shoulders; a scar that runs up the back of his neck that looks similar to a wound inflicted by a blade, although his long hair usually covers this from view.

Mason prefers to dress warmly for the chilled northern winds. It’s a rare sight to see him in armor for battle and more likely to see him in sparring armor as he interacts with the boys of Winterfell in the training yards. Lord Stark has taken to wearing a boiled leather vest under his clothing for protection at unsuspecting times. Over top of this vest he wears a black and dark gray tabard with lengthened sleeves. Covering the tabard, for sake of warmth, he also wears a black and dark gray surcoat, with the House Stark coat of arms embroidered onto the left shoulder. Fastened around Lord Stark’s neck are the leather strap and clasp of his long cloak, which is also dark gray and black. The cloak has been made of a thick fur, with the fur thickest on the exterior of the garment. Beneath the surcoat, Mason has taken to wearing a pair of matching vambraces, black as onyx to match the tabard he wears above the vest. To protect his hands from the bite of the winds and the cold air, he wears a pair of thick leather gloves over his hands at all times unless changing out of his casual clothing. Covering his legs are two pairs of trousers, usually, and then his undergarments. He wears a thin pair of trousers to keep cozy and then a thicker, wool woven, pair over top of those to keep his legs warm. To protect his feet and ankles, Mason wears a pair of hard boiled leather boots. Lastly, Lord Stark keeps a variety of weapons on him at all times. To keep his long sword close by, Lord Stark has a sword belt fastened around his clothing, keeping them pressed down while the sword sheath is at his left hip to allow for his dominant hand to reach over and pull it free. On occasion he also wears a back strap and sheath for the long sword, although he hasn't worn it for casual wear for a while. Tucked into the belt of his trousers, at his pelvis, he also has two daggers sheathed, with only their plain leather strap grips shown.

Weaponry
Overall Lord Stark has a single longsword, two daggers, and a dirk. The longsword is, usually, at his left hip and at the perfect place for his right hand to grip it when needed. It’s held within a smooth leather and wooden sheath, with a trim of dark gray down the center. The two daggers are sheathed at his pelvis, tucked between his trousers and the belt that holds them in place. Their grips are made of steel but have been wrapped tightly with leather strips and mended to form a single grip, although some of the straps have broken free from the wear and use. Lord Stark keeps the long thin bladed dirk concealed within his right boot, held in place and protected by the sheath also fastened within the boot. In times of imminent battle or when battle is possible at any time, Lord Stark carries a different load out in weaponry.

Traits
Mason Stark to the core is a family lover; he puts his honor as a father and husband before his honor of a lord. He would always make sure his family is out of danger before acting on any one thing. While he is a family man, he is also an honorable man. If he needs to shame himself for his family’s sake, he makes sure to redeem himself twice as much later on in life. On top of his honor is his duty. With his duty as a father he has always made sure to be there for his family when they need him before running off to fight a battle as a Lord. Because he is so centered on his family, he is also neutral when it comes to democracy and politics, more notably belligerence. He would not voluntarily send men of the north off to fight a battle that doesn't concern them because he knows that it’s not just the men he’s sending out being affected. On top of being honorable and loyal to his duties as father, warden and lord, Lord Stark can also be a bit negative. When battle cannot be avoided or when he is confronted physically, he has been known to show little mercy but only fights to prove a point. If he has to bring physicality to a criminal who has committed murder, he would see to it that the criminal is punished by execution, in example sake. Mason Stark is a man of the Northmen and as such he believes in the way of the Old Gods, he treats all fellow Northmen with kindness and respect, offering his roof to them when they come seeking while those who pray to the Seven are treated just as kindly and offered the same, but trusted less than the Northmen.

Bio
Mason Stark was born to Lord Edmure Stark and Lady Piper Stark in year two-fifty-five (255). He grew up with a simple life. Being born in the War of the Ninepenny Kings made his life growing up hard without a father there to help him through, but after the Ninepenny war life was simple. He took up his training by time he was eight, starting with swordsmanship and then moving onto the basic education process put a real sword in Mason’s hand by time he was zero and ten. He wasn't so quick to get the hang of reading, writing and mathematics but the nobleman within him was shining with his sword by time he hit three and ten, almost a man. Over time he eventually managed to familiarize himself with reading and writing, while mathematics was still lacking. When he finally became a man grown he was anointed as the heir of House Stark and Winterfell. The Mad King had taken his rule a year or two before Mason was anointed the heir of House Stark. Ten years after becoming heir to Winterfell, his father was killed in court at King’s Landing by the Mad King. Soon after came the War of the Usurper, when Mason Stark fought with the Stark House and its fellow Northern and Eastern houses to rebel against the Mad King. After the Mad King is thrown from his throne and the remnants of the Targaryens are chased off to Dragonstone, Mason Stark returns home as peace takes over the land.

A few more years pass before House Greyjoy rose up in rebellion. Once again Mason Stark found himself involved in a war he had no interest in. The war lasted under a year and once again Mason Stark returned home to Winterfell, where his family waited for him. Peace time came again and this time it lasted for several years, with Winterfell growing and expanding as time went on and Mason’s own family took up the Stark lifestyle. Two sons and a daughter in twenty two years’ time, each three years off from one another in name days. Will Stark was the first born and named heir of Winterfell and House Stark while Walter Stark and Maeryn Stark were still young. Walter Stark came next and then the only daughter, Maeryn Stark.

Maeryn Stark — Played By: Micro Horse

Full Name: Maeryn Stark
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Title / Occupation: Daughter of Lord Stark
Bio: Throughout her life Maeryn has tried her hardest to be as ladylike as possible. Succeeding at this by a margin has allowed her to dodge scoldings from her mother and disapproving looks from other ladies although it has given her the chance to secretly learn the basics of sword fighting. She has honed her skill since she was eleven years of age and did this by watching the young men training and copying their movement and their tutors.
She was always holding grudges against siblings and friends for the actions they took against her and this would mean a bit of trouble because when she younger she would hit people or take something that was precious to the offending person. Life in the north has given her a tolerance to the cold but she still takes comfort with the blanket and fireplace. Due to hearing the stories of the Targaryens and the mad king and the battle for the throne, Maeryn has come to find herself not very trusting of the royals and other noble houses.

Title / Occupation: Eldest son of Lord Stark

Bio: As his father's eldest child and heir to Winterfell, Will constantly feels pressured to make his father proud. He is loyal to his father and gets on famously with his sibling(s). Will began learning the art of combat from a young age, attaining the necessary skills to wield a sword, shoot a bow and ride a horse. This gave him a great sense of freedom (and perhaps over confidence). As an adventurous teenager, he often rode outside the protective walls of Winterfell alone, galloping onwards into the woods tracking animals and climbing trees. His father didn't much care for this behaviour, but he liked his son's enthusiasm. Will also learned to read and write at a young age, and, with the help of his father, developed the mind of a worthy tactician.

Appearance: Stands at a height of 6'0". Icy blue eyes and chiselled features. Rusty brown mid length hair which hangs freely. Trimmed full beard of the same colour. Quite pale (but not unhealthily so) simply due to his Northmen descent. Typically wears hunting/riding leathers; rarely dresses up in any fancy garments.

Family: Maeryn Stark (sister), Lord Stark (father)

Weaponry: One handed sword, bow, hunting dagger.

Basic Traits: Loyal, cheerful, mischievous, daring, a little over confident, and a touch of arrogance (though only very occasionally).

Trying to fight back Stephen was brutally injured and scarred and left to die. A mercenary company came upon him and took him under their wing, healing him, and training him to fight as they do. He learned his dual swordsmanship from one, his speed from another, his stealth from another, and he gained his strength through daily training. Then the company was wiped out in a battle and he became a free agent, currently in the north.

Bio: Victor Reyne was born to his mother in the nurse's infirmary of the great castle Castamere. His mother was a Hightower, the great and powerful house of Oldtown, and his father a great man of honor - high up in the Targaryen court, with wealth to last them several lifetimes. Victor himself was the first-born son of the Reyne lord, so instantly he was destined to be head of House Reyne. Victor had a decent childhood, but not one of freedom like only the peasant children of the great cities's backstreets had; Victor was always accompanied by an adult, we'er it be his father, another family member, the city maester, the master-at-arms. At the age of none-and-ten Victor began all kinds of training, with seldom enough time to even try to play anymore. Swordplay, writing, mathematics and lordship - Anyone knew Victor was being bred and trained to rule the city, it was obvious, and it told it in the family tree.
Five years of rough, hard training, one tourney against other heir boys, second place and then he was off sent to squire for a knight. This knight was the second son of the Tyrell lord, one Ser Jaroh Tyrell, whom was six-and-twenty but fought valiantly we'er he went and became a good inspiration to Victor. The young Reyne spent a year and a half in the walls of Highgarden, and another year off around the realm with the Tyrell knight. They had a run-in with a petty group of outlaws once, just the knight and his squire against four armed outlaws, but Victor drove an arrow through one's throat while two others attacked Jaroh, but he drove one back and at the same time chopped another's leg off. Victor had aimed at the fourth outlaw who also had a bow out, poised and ready to shoot, but Victor was faster and the brigand was writhing on the floor with a feathered arrow through his gut. The last standing outlaw was caught with a sword to the throat and an arrow to the balls. When they returned to Highgarden, Victor was bid farewell by everyone he knew of the Tyrell garrison, and of Jaroh - and then Victor was sent to King's Landing to claim his knighthood. Victor was then sent out into the east, on the King's orders, he was supposed to be fighting in the Vale against the Mountain Clans as the Arryns were so completely against them they sent others to do their dirty work.
A raven flew to the Gates to the Eyrie, and soon enough a rider came to tell of the news, and that Victor need return home immediately to look after his father. He arrived back soon after and looked after his father at an old age, until sadly, The Lord of Castamere died in his sleep, acceptable for a great man's standing. Victor was five-and-twenty, almost as old as the Tyrell knight had been, and Victor too was soon set to gain a squire. Not now, alas, as being the first-born son of the his father, Samwell Reyne, he had to put aside his knightly duties and become a lord. So, with some regret, Victor claimed his lordship, and was again sent off to King's Landing to honor it. There, he was urged to stay and take part in the Small Council, by the current Hand, the now elderly Lord of Highgarden, the father of the knight he squired for. So there Victor learnt some more, made alliances, some enemies, may have got a whore or two with child, and then that day came, that crazed and confused day. The Lord of Highgarden, the Hand of the King died. And when the matter of the new Hand arose at the following Council, which the King attended that day - all eyes had turned to him. He was almost three-and-thirty then, having gained a good place in the court, higher than ever his father had rose.
Victor accepted. He had to.
And from there it was heavy loads of work day in, day out, with seldom any time to do otherwise. He saw the Council change and form, under his own command. He was the second most important man in the realm, but Victor didn't realise it.
The realm was in peace. But for how much longer?
