    Evil Rises IC

Todari awoke in the tomb where he had been sealed in the middle of the forest that had once been his. He stood up and stretched reveling in the feeling of cold and the gentle light of the moon. A much welcome change to the heat of hell and the bright burning lights of it's flames. He glowered in wrath as he remembered how the demons tortured him. They tried to take him one on one. Once. They learned to attack in groups from then on. He stepped out of the now shattered tomb, and looked around, searching for something to drain the life out of to make sure he had not lost the skill.

He saw a deer and her fawn a distance away. Smiling a malicious smile, he drew shadows around him and crept over behind them. The deer never noticed a thing. Quickly, he grabbed them by the necks and snapped them, his hands glowing red as they drained the life from the deers. He then dropped the lifeless corpses to the ground and sent out his call, waiting for the remnants of his forces to come. After a few minutes they arrived, the imps through the top of the trees, and the remaining trolls walking through the shadows of the ground.

Leading them all, much to Todari's satisfaction, was Gromet Ironfire. The first and most loyal of his original generals. (For reference, he looks like this:
). He had created Gromet from two of his imps and one of his trolls. As such, the general had the intelligence and cunning of two imps, backed by the power of a troll. The perfect leader for his forces. Gromet took a knee with the rest of his meager forces, bowing his head and saying "Master." Todari gestured for him and the rest of them to rise, saying "Rise my loyal servants, and join me. There is much work to do before we can come upon the world once more." With that, he lead his small army in the direction of the ruins of his castle, plans for revenge just beginning.

Sornic awoke in a long abandoned battle field, where, he knew not. The last thing he remembered was fighting against an elf, and slaying the bastard before he was set upon by a group of young, upstart, heroes. He slew 2 of them before the others struck mortal blows upon him. To avoid certain death, he buried himself in a tomb of earth set to release him when the threat of death had left. Unfortunately, he was caught up in the sealing spell, and was trapped to hell with the rest of the Overlords. Not an experience he enjoyed. Though he was able to avoid the brunt of the demons in there torture by fighting back, and running, the inevitably captured and tortured him. Oh how I'm going to enjoy summoning them. Sornic thought with a vicious smile, hidden by his helmet.

As it was, he was not powerful enough to summon those who had tortured him for any length of time, but he could summon 2 minor demon imps for a short time and 1 minor demon imp permanently. This he knew instinctively. Sadly his skill, and power, with that talent was not enough to summon an army at the height of his power he could summon two major demons permanently. With a sigh, realizing that it would take a good while before he could do that again, he got up from his position on the ground and grasped his blade. The blade light up in an orange glow at his touch. Sornic smiled again. "Loyal to the end my friend. That's what you are." He said, strangely enough, to the blade. It appeared to intensify it's glow in response, but that may have just been a trick of the light. Sornic summoned a permanent demon imp, and began walking out of the battle field, the imp following behind it's master. (

"Hurry up Cormac we are almost there" A human said excitedly as he walked up to the ancient mountain temple he had been searching for ever since his great-grandfather had given him muttering some wrds before dyeing the he never could tell what he had said so the man asumed that there would be great treasures guarded by a dragon so he had convinced this drunk idiot that called himself a dragon slayer to come with him. inside the temple they had to get through several already broken traps slip past some anchent spells which were more powerful than he could imagine. Arriving at the great hall he found it empty deciding to take another look at the map he saw on one edge glowing following it he stopped when the map was glowing completely stomping he discovered that this part of the floor was not solid under neath and in fact the wood had turned to dust ages ago, falling through the now broken floor he landed about twenty feet below with Cormac. "hey Jindon look at that coffin I wonder what it has in it" Cormac said pointing at a coffin Geting up he went over to it hearing several thinks Jindon guessed that there were traps which had broke along time ago, unfortunantly for Cormac some were still in working condition as the man fell through a fake tile (the tiles ar about 2 feet * 2 feet) splashed and screamed for a bit than died looking at the maps back Jindon guessed that the grid with dots on it was this room and the ones with the dots were the safe spots stepping carefully he made his way to the coffin. Reaching his destination he risked chances and smashed his staff against the gem in the center of the coffin the gem literally exploded in a flash of blinding light, blinking a few times he saw a dark elvish person in perfectly fine condition who appeared to be asleep.

Shanith woke up form her seemingly eternal sleep, finally someone ether had the guts or stupidity to break her free from the spell holding her in a frozen state. Seeing the man who had freed her in front of her she instantly grabbed him and drank him dry and read his mind for all of his knowledge so she would know the current state of the world in a word it was pitiful, humans, elves, dwarves lived without warfare totally care free no fear no Lich to show them what fear is no demon to show what pain is no warlords to show what death is the world has fallen into an age of weakness and she planed to change that in whatever way posable. stepping out of her coffin she walked acros the now inert room where the hole inthe ceiling is leaping up onto the flore above she walked over to the throne with skeleton on it she laughed "so in the end you did die immortal lord of the Ramine dwarves" making a mock bow tot the throne than going around the throne to the other side she picked up her sword still sharp as ever and and opened up the stone box which was enchanted to preserve whatever is in the container and pulled out her hand xbow and went out and followed the path that the two men had been on a few hours ago.

The armoured figure sat itself along the mountain ledge, plain long sword stuck into some rock behind them. The armour was made of blackened metal, jagged with dangerous looking points, something that contrasted with the calm stillness of its wearer. The helm was another striking feature and a match to the armour, dual sets of horns attached…the ones coming out from the side reached skywards, while the ones coming out from the back reached forwards. A tattered cape hung lifelessly off the figure’s back as they watched…and seemingly waiting on their seat at the ledge. Only tilting their head slightly, they looked up at the sky to see what amount of hours it would take before night fell.

"Now, BEGONE." Thundered a mysterious booming voice. Suddenly, for seemingly no reason at all, a large fiery chasm opened up at the bottom of a large clearing in the mountains. As soon as it had opened, something that appeared vaguely man-shaped was expelled. And then, just as quickly as it had opened, the chasm had shut mere moments before the figure hit the ground. "That was... unexpected." the figure said as he slowly rose. He was an incredibly imposing being, though whether that was him or merely his armor was entirely up for debate. He wore well maintained blackened armor, with a crimson cloak. His features could not be seen behind his plate helm, but his build marked him as unmistakably male. He turned and scanned the nearby mountains, finding yet another armored figure waiting not far off. "Ah... that must be the one..." He said. He turned and walked toward the other one, stone pillars rising before him and falling as he passed, acting as a sort of stairway. "I apologize if I was late." The man said. He had a deep, intimidating voice, but behind it all one could sense the barest hint of weariness.

In the pitch black forest, the warmth of life could not be felt. The tall and thick trees blocked most light, an eerie place to be. There was no sounds, not even the sound of fauna. It was so silent, an inner monologue would have the effect of a painfully shrieking banshee.
Who knows how many years it had been since anything living moved through the area. The dark green foliage on the ground started to subtly move, even though there was no wind. It moved in an even rythm, more and more, until it rose up with the sound of cracking bones. A humanoid figure, covered in moss, grass and rust. Reeking of blood and murder.

Like it was nothing, the figure tore off the plants growing on it's body, revealing a putrid ghoul moving in hectic movements. It growled, in pain, or maybe it was happiness? It was hard to know, since it's vocal chords were destroyed long ago. It fell to it's knees, where a long sword rested along the grass. The figure took it, probably breaking a few bones in the process.

With the haste of a dead body, it shuffled towards the small lake in front it. With no hesitation, the body let itself fall into the water, sinking. After a few minutes it stood up again, but this time it looked different. The body that rised was the body of a young woman, her armor and weapon showing no sign of decay at all. The woman stretched to confirm it, she felt revitalized, there was no more bone breaking sounds at every little movement she made. She couldn't stop a silent laugh escape through her lips.
Looking around her was the place where she meditated. The foundations of an old village still remained. A village she burned herself.

She turned her face towards the refreshing skies and let out a warcry, as if she was challenging the world. She had woken up, a sure sign that her lord had raised as well. It was just a matter of time before she bathed in blood again. It's warmness and taste of iron called out to her.
Before setting off, she made sure she hadn't lost the touch of battle. The swordwoman took position, holding her sword still in it's sheath. Without even tensing her body, first there was a spark in front of her; Suddenly, the lake that was in front of her was parted in it's entirety, leaving a scar on the ground. She scoffed, disappointed in the little damage it did. With a cape that laid next to her sleeping place she covered her entire body, muttering "Did that demon fool me?"

Omega paused, not quite sure what to make of this armoured man before her, a man she knew automatically as her lord and master. Moments ago, he had been spat out from the earth and rock of the mountain, and then proceeded to greet her like it was an everyday occurrence. Getting up from where she had been seated, walked over and sheathing the plain long sword, then found a spot to bow on one knee before him, “Not at all, my lord, I have not waited long for your arrival…I hear and obey, tell me your will and I will follow without disobedience.” Words were clear to hear, but speaking out the last part…she was unable to hide the bitterness in it as the words were spoken.

"Indeed." He began to walk down the path, motioning his new general to follow. "I had a castle in this area, once. A long time ago..." He said as they walked. Along the way, various piles of rock and stone began to animate themselves around him, becoming roughly man-sized creatures of stone. "I call these Stonelings. They are only good for construction. Do not allow them to be destroyed." As they walked further, another group of creatures began to poke out of various caves in the area. "Those are the Galeb Duhr's. Sadly, I cannot take credit for their design, for they were forged by Gaia herself." That was Markul's way of saying that they were natural. They appeared to be squat creatures with stony skin, but their eyes were very much organic. "They are our most basic footsoldiers. they do not require babysitting, but do not allow them to be destroyed either." Eventually, they reached what appeared to be a ruined castle. Markul gave out a slight clicking noise, and the stonelings rushed forward and began to climb all over the structure. "They shall be done with the repairs in due time. For now, there must be at least one intact room in which you can stay. Feel free to choose your quarters, I shall observe." with that he moved toward a better position, and with barely any effort, he made a small throne. And as you can imagine, he sat and watched his creations skitter about the structure.

Ranoch had been hungry. Ranoch had eaten. The Powers That Were did not like having their prize garden eaten. Ranoch got expelled, right into the realm of mortals, just as had been planned. Ranoch was pleased. The Powers That Were should not have held the Lord of Eat. They should have known better.

The young woman was happy. Her family, prosperous merchants in a medium-sized village a few days' travel from Dantin, had approved of her marriage request. She would marry her one true love.

Ranoch checked its surroundings. It was underwater. It did not know where in the realm of mortals it was. Breaking the surface, Ranoch saw many trees, swift-moving waters and some golden fields. Forest, river & farmlands. Still location was unknown. Ranoch knew it needed a host. Ranoch was hungry. Ranoch swam up the river, searching.

The young woman passed beneath the lofty branches of the oak trees. She would bathe, just as custom dictated. No woman should be married without washing properly first. It was a rare treat, for even for her prosperous family, soap was not to be squandered. She would go to the traditional female bathing hole, where no man would dare approach.

Ranoch slipped rapidly upstream, traversing the strong current as if it wasn't even there. Ranoch was oblivious to the rest of the world. Emerging into a deep pool, the current was suddenly gone. Ranoch looked around the bottom of the pool. Not a single creature within it. Then Ranoch saw the stepped rocks, the stairs. Ranoch knew then that the pool was used by mortals. Ranoch was pleased.

The young woman entered the clearing around the sacred bathing hole. She was alone, nobody else present. She carefully set the basket of soap down upon the ground so it would not be spilled. With practiced ease, she loosened the ties on her fine woolen dress, pulling it over her head and hanging it on a branch cleared of twigs for just that purpose. She unlashed her boots, placing them beneath the dress. She then checked to be sure there were no others around. There were none, so she also removed her undergarments.

Ranoch approached the stairs, but saw no suitable host. Moving casually, Ranoch lay itself on one of the steps, waiting.

The young woman walked towards the ceremonial stairs as naked as the day she was born. In her hand she held the treasured soap basket. Though underwater, the stairs were not slippery. She placed the basket on a pedestal designed to hold such, then threw herself into the water to take care of the initial cleaning, not really paying attention to anything.

Ranoch was pleased. Prey had entered the pool. It could feel the currents created by the host-to-be. Ranoch tasted the water, quickly establishing that the prey was a young human female. Not the most imposing host, but it would do. Few would expect a being by many considered evil to take such a weak-looking host. Ranoch left the step, seeking a suitable approach vector to the host.

The young woman swam leisurely through the pool, oblivious to the world, knowing she had hours yet before she had to return. She did not feel the slight waves generated by something else moving through the sacred pool. She ducked beneath the surface, swimming down to the rocky bottom, the pressure building up in her ears as she went deeper and deeper.

Ranoch observed his host-to-be. The water was crystal-clear, so the sight was unblurred. The human was average in appearance, not too tall nor too heavy. Ranoch watched her swim down into the depths, then shoot back to the surface. She appeared healthy. She was suitable. As she swam along the surface again, Ranoch shot upwards, opening its jaws at the last moment.

The young woman felt something hit her right between her breasts. The pain was unimaginable. There should not be anything alive down in this pool. The sacred wardens and the nets at the entry mouth made sure of that. Yet something hit her. She rolled over in the water, seeing a strange snake-like creature attached to her sternum. Blood was everywhere. She screamed in pain even as it gnawed its way in. The serpent, for (her) lack of a better word, was about three quarters of a meter in length, had sandy brown skin and was quite thick, though it had a distinct tail. All this she saw as it gnawed its way into her chest cavity.

The agony was beyond anything, she had nothing to even compare it to. She tried to pull the creature out, but her hands found no hold on the slippery skin. With such agony, there was no way she could swim to shore, not that there was anything useful there. She doubted a fingerblade dagger would be of use. Before she could think on other solutions, she felt more than heard the crunch as the creature broke through her sternum. Though she expected it to bite again in some other spot, it did something much, much worse. It entered.

To say the feeling was unusual would be making light of it. She could feel its slippery body slip past her organs, not even scratching them. To her horror, the entire creature slipped in. She somehow could feel as it wrapped itself around her spine, extending tendrils throughout her body. Suddenly her body stiffened as if paralyzed.

Ranoch slipped into its new host, pleased with the taking. The host had fought back, but it had been utterly without effect. Ranoch sent out the nerve tendrils to hook into her vital systems so that control could be assumed and her body be adapted to work as it needed to. Once the tendrils were in place, Ranoch sent a pulse through them, assuming full control over the extremities. The host slipped beneath the surface, but Ranoch paid that no mind. Humans might need to breathe air, but the host was already changing. Ranoch would keep it alive while it changed.

The young woman thought she would drown as she felt herself sink to the bottom. She thought that death would be peaceful. Instead she felt her body ache, particularly in between her breasts and her mouth. The ache was like growth, only more intense. She could not make sense of it. She could feel time slip by, but she had no idea how much. All she wanted was relief. Moments later, she felt her consciousness floating away, as if lying upon a cloud.

Ranoch needed to observe before striking further. It needed to gather what forces remained to it in the world. Thus, once the changes were complete, Ranoch did not assume full control. Instead it erased all memory of itself from the host and forced the host to leave the pool. Ranoch would observe from the back of the host's mind for now.

The young woman woke up. She knew something was off, but she had no idea what. She had never before fallen asleep during the day. Never. She knew she had entered the sacred pool, but she could not remember anything since. She looked up into the sky and saw that several hours had gone by. Looking into the pool, she saw that the basket of soap still stood there, undisturbed. She moved to recover it. Her body felt strange, almost energized. Every movement was effortless.

When she got to the basket, she got a small shock. She had not used any soap at all. On some strange urge that she could not explain, she took up one of the pieces of soap and bit into it. Her teeth felt different, yet they also felt right. Swallowing she found the taste of the soap intriguing. She took another bite and soon the entire bar was gone. Moments later, she could literally smell the soap upon her skin.

She lifted the basket and left the pool, somehow sure she was clean. She dried herself with her cloak, then dressed quickly. She needed to get back home.

Ranoch smiled within her. The taste of soap was new to it. The lord of Eat was content to watch her. Soon enough she would consolidate Ranoch's forces. Not that Ranoch's host would understand much of it. She had more changing to go through. By the time Ranoch finished with her, she would not be a human in anything but outer appearance. She would, to all intents and purposes, be Ranoch.

The forest, it was a place where neither he nor anything living belonged. Each of his steps, soft as they may be, disturbed the silence so carefully preserved by the lack of life within. Why was he here? The whims and rumors of the people which spoke of a forest so massive yet devoid of any life that it must have been a domain of some monstrosity.

The rustling foliage caught Basaris’s attention though as the only being in the area, or at least the only living. He paused to watch and in the distance, if faint, he could just make out sounds of old bones rising to move ago. Friggen undead, he thought as he began to move again, cautiously and with care, through the eerie forest.

A splash echoed through the air as Basaris stepped into the remains of what had used to be a village. The buildings must have once stood tall, but what remained seemed to have been damaged by flames, and the years had not left much. Though the lighting was dim, he saw a few drops of water splash against the earth, an unearthly energy surging near the water. It seemed the rumors had indeed been true, a monstrosity awakening right before his eyes. Despite her feminine guise, there was no hiding the inhuman strength, the dark energies that swirled around her.

Her cry did not intimidate Basaris, but rather it invigorated him. It seemed this one was not a mindless machine, but rather a Blood Knight. One that lived to fight, craving a worthy opponent it could throw itself against. Better than the ones who slaughtered indiscriminately for fun or pleasure at the least. Her strength didn’t seem to be a joke though, parting the waters and gouging the earth beneath with a single slash. If this was her strength when simply newly awoken, what would she be like at full strength? The question was enough to send shivers up his spine and enough for Basaris to throw peaceful negotiations out the window.

Gathering his energies, a faint tap of Spellstrike against his chest plate had all forms of magic surging through him and his equipment. Flames wreathed his armor and blade and danced through the air while his mind and body were sharpened and honed beyond possible heights. Granted, you’d have to be utterly blind or magically inept to not notice Basaris, but if you were well then it sucked to be you. His steps were silent, his posture calm, his mind clear. There was no one-liner to open the battle, only a quick and powerful leap that brought Basaris from one end of the village onto his target, his blade slicing downwards through the air at inhuman speeds.

Credits to FoXus for this awesome set.
If I could take up 10 minutes of your time I'd be grateful.

Feel free? It was a nice, but unnecessary sentiment, there was never going to be a feeling of freedom. At the moment, all her lord was doing was allowing her a few moments away from his side, time to put them to good use. Omega bowed onto one knee once again, this time before the stone throne, the armour covering her knee making a metal ‘clang’ sound as it touched the floor, “Right away…my lord.” Waiting a few minutes before getting up, she made her way through the ruined castle. It was quite apparent that not many rooms remained intact, as she could see into and over most of them since there were very little wall left. Finding the room that was decidedly her lord and master’s bedroom, she picked her as the small one furthest down the hall from his.

Stepping over the ruined wall and towards a rectangular frame of might have been wood, she stepped carefully over to what looked like…a fully intact mirror. Ah, yes, a full length mirror made of flattened and polished silver. There was a dent in the corner, but she paid no mind as she checked for armour damage—none. Well, time to check for head damage, since she had been ambushed by a surprisingly tough archer on her way to the mountains. Pulling her helmet off, and tugging a bit towards the end, it finally came off. There was black blood staining both sides of her head above each ear, where the arrowhead had entered and finally stuck out from…Omega broke off the arrow head and the fletching, and replaced her helmet onto her head at that time, but the shaft was still very much stuck in it. Removing a gauntlet this time, reaching up with her thin fingers, she began to pull out the wooden shaft.
