Kita was one of the few cat mutants (or Felinians) who dared to venture into the human town. A long time ago their breed emerged but since they weren't particularly dominant nor predatory, they eventually fled to the forest where they were able to survived on the river and it's fish. Their lifestyles could be secluded and not many even knew they existed. And yet there was only so much that the Felinian catgirl village could do to sustain itself. Winter was coming and to prepare, the Felinians needed human medicine. And thus Kita, being one of the elite, was sent to get medical herbs from the town.
Kita hid her ears under the hood and her tail was underneath the rest of the cloak. She bartered a prized gem in exchange for the medicine and kept a lookout for those humans which may seek to do harm to her kind. She was a fighter, yes, but even then she didn't want to end up in a fight that could be her last. Taking the bag of precious herbs, she stepped outside only, to stumble from the shockwave of the large explosion. Kita immediately leapt into the shadows and then onto a roof where none would really see her unless they looked.
These mutant hunters... they were attacking brutally - not giving a care for life at all. How could they be so cruel? Kita's heart raced as she tried to decide what to do. She could see the leader down there - he was more elaborately dressed and the men answered to him. Kita wanted to bring an end to the slaughtering of her kind, but right now there were no other catgirls to back her up. To attack alone would be plain suicide. Even if she used her crossbow, the other men would hunt her down. No, attacking wasn't an option. And she had to get the medicine back to the village.
Kita looked towards the distance... If only she could get out of the town without being noticed. But what if one of them saw her and tracked her back to the village? It would only bring death to everyone. So escaping wasn't an option either - at least not yet.
Kita tried to hide herself in the shadow of a chimney. She would wait there until there was a chance to escape. But then the cries of those being killed down below was horrific. Sure, they were of a different species, but still... Kita tried to block the sound from her ears. Unfortunately, that lead to a small tear in the medicine bag as a single vial fell out and rolled down the rooftop...
Kita was quick enough to catch the vial before it fell too far over the roof, but in doing so she had let out a meow. At the same time, her hood slipped off her head, revealing her black cat ears.
