Space Battles RP - OOC Thread

This will be based around the cartoon Star Blazers. However, knowledge of the show is NOT required.

In the year 2201, a war between Earth and Gamilus ended. The Terran space battleship EDF Yamato and her crew made contact with Gamilus' leader, Lord Desler, and they managed to make peace between their planets. They even worked together in the following years to fight other enemies. However, in the year 2203, the Yamato was destroyed in a desperate act of self sacrifice to save Earth for what they thought was the last time.

Fast forward to 2205. The surviving crew of the Yamato have taken up positions in a new Earth fleet. The newly rebuilt UN Cosmo Navy has now rebuilt a grand fleet with Gamilus' help, just in time to come under attack by a new mysterious enemy called the Alfort Empire. Their ships come seemingly out of nowhere and destroy everything they come across. The Earth fleet sets sail to confront Alfort, led by the battleship EDF Amagi.

If you're from Earth, write what country you're from. If you're from another planet or colony, write that here instead. Gamilus is a prominent allied alien planet. Earth also has some colonies throughout the Solar System, the largest being on the partially terraformed surface of Mars.

Human races apply here. Also, Gamilons have first class and second class races, first class being very humanoid and of blue skin, second class being completely identical to humans.

If your ship belongs to Earth, it should be based on a WWII era oceanic warship (i.e. USS Iowa or KMS Bismarck). If it's a Gamilon ship, it will have a letter-number designation such as EX-657, rather than a name. You could also be a pilot or squadron leader operating fighters or bombers off of a spaceship.

Basic ships from the bottom up are as follows: Patrol Ship, Scout Ship, Corvette, Frigate, Destroyer-Escort, Destroyer, Light Cruiser, Heavy Cruiser, Pocket Battleship, Battlecruiser, Battleship. The bigger the ship, the bigger the guns. Smaller ships have more missiles and torpedoes to make up for their lack of big guns. There's also Carrier types including those with multiple levels of stacked flight decks. The newly developed Space Submarine is considered revolutionary - They have the ability to temporarily enter subspace and become almost impervious to attack, then launch torpedoes through a rift to attack enemy ships. However, this can only be done for a few minutes at max.

Character Background: A hero of the galactic war against the Gamilons, he was unable to return to normal life afterwards, so he re-enlisted several times. He's still recovering from the destruction of the Yamato (on which he served for several years) and the death of his mentor, Admiral Okita.

Describe your ship: A warship built to replace the recently sunk EDF Yamato as the flagship of the UN Cosmo Navy. She is the first ship of her class. She boasts 5 turrets sporting 2 large 50" main guns each (3 turrets lined up in front of the bridge, 2 in back). Her broadside contains a multitude of quad-barelled anti-aircraft lasers and rapid fire guns. She has a decent aircraft compliment, launched from 4 deck catapaults and hangars on the aft broadside and belly. Amagi also sports 6 torpedo tubes on the bow and a ballistic missile silo in the "smokestack" behind the bridge. On her bow is the opening for the Wave Motion Gun present on every EDF capitol ship. She is powered by a Type 19 Wave Motion Engine which also generates her shields. Amagi has a minimum crew of 3500 but can hold up to 4850 crew members.

Secondary Characters: Yuki Mori, Wildstar's wife; Shirou Sanada, ship XO and Chief Engineer; And the rest of the crew who I won't put here because they are probably going to be minor characters at best. Also - Lord Desler, leader of the Gamilons, will likely make an appearance.

Basic weapons: Your characters will carry the Astro-Automatic (officers' blaster pistol) as a sidearm, but every ship has a security team called Paratroopers or Commandoes who will carry heavier weapons for instances such as boarding or landing parties.

Im very interested in this. Im not an amazing writer though :P . Will ships be armed with heavy last resort weapons like railguns that deplete energy supplies or emp weapons? Also will there be such things as, dont reallly want to use this word, mech like armored suits used to fight, sometimes, instead of humans or gamilons? Like an armored mechanical soldier controlled by a pilot aboard one of the ships. After seeing that submarine ship couldnt there be a ship like that except made to get near an enemy ship without getting spotted to safely place the suits on the ship?

Well, you actually caught my interest with this- I do not know where this series came from, or where the background is from- But I will do my best with the information provided.

Unfortunately, the HALO universe and the Star Blazers universe aren't very compatible. Maybe you could modify this? Sorry for the trouble.

Ok, heres my Ship. I'm looking to Homeworld (classic PC space RTS) for a lot of my inspiration here.

Character Sheet:

Ship Leader's Name: Illia Jennings


Ship Leader's Background: Illia was the lead researcher for an experimental project that combined computer guidance and control systems with biometric computers, specifically the human brain. The project was based on the planet of Vendaris, a barren world high in heavy metals and raw materials, the perfect place to build starships. The project was progressing well, with the prototype ship nearly completed and the integration system ready to begin testing. A test flight was to be underway, with Illia as the pilot, using the Interface to control the ship with her mind. That was when the Alfort Empire attacked. As a last ditch effort to save her team and their work, she activated the full potential of the Interface, melding her mind completely with the systems of the ship, and managed to escape. As a side effect, she is not permanently linked to the ship. If she is removed, she will die. She has total control of all ship systems, battle and otherwise, and her awareness is projected through it's sensors. For all intents and purposes, she is the ship. After escaping from Vendaris, Illia brought the ship and crew back to Earth controlled space and outfitted the ship for war. Most of the research team is still aboard, along with military personnel.

Ship Class:Battlecruiser/Strike Carrier


Describe your ship:
The Ecthelion is a heavily armed and armored carrier designed hold off enemy attack for a long period of time, and provide support and tactical assistance to the rest of the fleet. It has two main RailGuns that fire down the ships spine, along with numerous smaller opposible cannons. It is also equipped with anti fighter and missile suites. As a carrier, it holds 10 wings of interceptor fighters and 10 wings of bombers. It also docks several frigates designed to perform repairs and resupply during battle. Illia's total control of the ship and it's systems gives her the ability to plot highly efficient maneuvers and co-ordinate other ships movements to be the most successful. In battle, the Echthelion would plat a support role to the heavier ships, while still being able to lay down considerable firepower. The fighter wings aboard the ship are among the best in the fleet, especially the 501 Raptors, a squad made entirely of Ace pilots.

How's this? If it's okay, eventually I'd like to add at least one more character, the squadron leader for the 501st Raptors. I wanted to get this up first tho, lemme know what you think.

NT was designed to act as a artillery embankment that could pick out targets and blast them to peaces and still be out of range of there weapons for this to work it is a elongated box like shape with a vary broad side with extremely long ranged guns sticking out the side it also has forward ones but those are hardly ever used on the "top and bottom" there are fighter bay doors which inside there is an assortment of fighter craft, and boarding ships along with a large bay at top that has a Corvette fit in there with enough room to make repairs it docks using magnetic forces and is launched the same way it is hardly ever put to uses but like the rest of the ship it is kept clean need and tidy.
