Middle Earth (This time with a plot!)

Many years after the events surrounding Mr. Frodo's adventure the Dwarfs have returned to power, Elves for the most part have left, and the kingdom of man kind is spreading rapidly. The land for the most part has been prosperous and peaceful for nearly a hundred years but that peace would not last. Humans are hungry for power and have claimed lands that were left by the Orcs and b the Elves. Their armies grow large and their populous plentiful, even parts of the Shire now have human settlements.

War has broken out, not all of the human kings have the same beliefs and some believe in alliances and pacts while others believe that they are the dominant race and can lay claim to whatever land their sword could take. Dwarf kings have for the most part kept to themselves but as of late King Nicholas, one of the most powerful and ruthless of human kings, has demanded payment to prevent war. Elves who have begun to return have found their land torn apart and built over. Hobbits, a normally peaceful group of people have even had minor talks of taking action against the king for taking their land.

War is not the only plague that burdens the inhabitants of Middle Earth. Disease spreads and the forces of nature have begun to wreck havoc. When the trees began to be torn from the ground and mountains blown apart for the minerals inside guardians began to show. Powerful entities began to protect what was left and try to force those who had taken too much land to leave. King Nicholas paid no mind. These titans just encouraged him to train more troops.

These events would prove to be things that could be solved with the right leadership and proper guidance under normal circumstances but these were not normal circumstances. The Elves had returned, but not by choice. They were being followed by a dark and powerful force. One that would prove to be even more of a threat than Sauron.

So people of rpg we will be going on an adventure and like any good adventure of the Tolkein Universe we will have a bunch of unexpected heroes. I'd like to stick with tradition of a couple of each race, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs, Hobbits, and a wizard or two. So let's get to the details of each race...

Dwarfs: Powerful warriors who can rage and carry heavy armor and weapons. Their race is doing rather well but is still burdened by the years they went without their kingdoms.

Humans: The best all round in combat, their race tends to be the most advanced in technology (as far as tech goes in Middle Earth) and have a way of spreading across the land rather quickly.

Elves: Great with bows and they live long lives. They have the benefit of living long enough to learn many things but their pride tends to get them in trouble.

Hobbits: Peaceful bunch of lads and ladies who want no more than peace and to be left alone. Though as fate may have it they are the ones who are tasked with doing the impossible. They are quiet on their feet and small so they can get in places others can not.

Details arn't certain because what fun is an rp if everything is laid out for you? But expect to be on a mixed adventure of fighting the darkness and dealing with the Tyrant King Nicholas.

I'm relatively new to the world of Middle Earth. I watched the LoTR as a kid but I didn't retain many details on locations and such. I've watched The Hobbit recently but that's about as far as my knowledge goes. If anyone knows more about the land and its people and are interested in this rp I would love to work with you to make this a good adventure worthy of the books.

So we couldn't be one of the Maia? I have some ideas for an OC that's part of the Istari Council. Just so you know, Gandalf is not a human, he's a Maia. All of the wizards are Maia and members of the Istari Council. Only Maia can be considered true mages, since they're the only ones able to actively use magic. Anyway, I've been looking for a Lord of the Rings RP for a while. It's my favorite high fantasy setting (not my favorite fantasy setting period. That honor goes to the Cthulhu mythos.)

Well, the Maia are godlike beings created by the gods as servants. You could say they were avatars of the gods. There were only five, though. However, they're extremely hard to kill permanently, so the same five Maia have been around since the creation of Middle Earth.

Actually, there was a sixth Maia that I know of. Sauron was one of the Maia as well, serving Morgoth. There's so much more to know about Middle Earth and its history than the movies give you. Tolkein went a step further and fully fleshed out his fantasy world, making it feel like a real place.

Also, I do hope that darker, more powerful force than Sauron is not Morgoth. There's literally no way we could defeat him. Morgoth is literally a god. Also, it wouldn't make sense for him to threaten the mortal races. He's so unimaginably powerful that he finds the idea of destroying the mortal races boring. He considers the mortal races unworthy of his attention. Which is good, because he makes Sauron look like a little baby throwing a tantrum.

No problem. I'm not exactly the go-to source for Lord of the Rings lore, but I do know a good bit thanks to research and actually reading the first book. I need to finish the trilogy and read the Hobbit and the Silmarillion.

I might be an elf. Honestly I got to reading the LOTR wikis and started thinking, "Hold on, maybe I can swing a low power wizard...but being an elven warrior would be cool too...damn it!"

I might take the role of a hobbit. I think eating, drinking and partying sounds like my kind of life style.
