    Name: Rose Willard

    Age: 16

Height/Weight: 5' 9" (Tall for a girl her age.) and gangly.

Appearance: Rose is a tall girl, and a bit gangly as well. She seems like she has yet to understand how her limbs work, and she can often be seen flailing her arms around as she walks, and knocking things over in the process. Her hair is a medium length, curly and light brown. Her style is fairly terrible. She comes from a very impoverished family, and usually wears hand-me-downs from her mother (so they are always baggy on her), or clothing that she has sewn herself, out of old curtains and table clothes. The resulting look is always mismatched and ill fitting.

Place of Origin: Georgia (country side, a bit of a shanty town left over from the great depression).

Magical Abilities: Rose succeeds greatly in Herbology. In her second year of learning magic (age 15), Rose managed to create a Screechsnap and Mimbulus Mimbletonia hybrid, despite the fact that their pollination and blooming seasons are drastically different. She uses her stubbornness, and curiosity to accomplish things most adults wouldn't even both with. It is with these abilities that Middlemarch accepted her. Her current goal is to discover a completely new breed of plant, or to create an even more unusual hybrid. Mr. Fitzgerald (her parrot, named after her favorite author) helps however he can. This usually takes the form of gathering seeds (He tries not to eat too many before bringing them back to Rose), or locating the best growing environments from an aerial view.

Wand Core: Aspen Wood, 5" (It's barely a nub of a wand, hahaha), Ghoul Hair.

Bio: Rose is a muggle from Georgia. Her father is a coal miner, and her mother does the washing for their neighbors, to help pay for their amenities. They have never had very much money, and Rose has grown up used to eating whatever she is given, and not complaining on the days she has to go to bed hungry. Despite their hardships, Rose and her parents get along very well. Her father is kind, with a warm smile and a love for music. Her mother is more stern, less silly nonsense, but she will be the first to take care of you when you're sick, or feeling upset. You can imagine their surprise when Rose was invited to a magic academy at the age of 14. The fact that she would receive a full scholarship eased their fears, and they quickly agreed that should would go off to school (This was an unremarkable wizarding primary school). Two years later, and after plenty of improvements in her education (not common sense, unfortunately), she was ready for Middlemarch. She packed her meager belongings, and brought along the familiar she had acquired along the way (a quaker parrot named Mr. Fitzgerald.).

Personality Traits: Being so poor, Rose has had to grow up very quickly. She's mature for her age, and is quick to take responsibility for her actions. This attitude has not helped her make friends as a child, so she is currently a bit socially awkward. Rose would love nothing more than to have fun with kids her own age, but constant worrying about her parents back home, worrying about school work, and worrying about saying something wrong, tends to hold her back. But, if she does manage to befriend another girl or boy, she will defend them, no matter what. Whether it means jumping into a fight, or simply speaking up for them, Rose will give them her complete support.

Rose is not a withering flower, by any means, when it comes to herself either. She won't stand for being teased because of her clothes, her lack of money, her terrible etiquette, or her country accent. If you try any of that, you better expect a big wallop on the face.

Other: Rose is feisty, but loyal. She takes to magic quickly and naturally, but does work hard at it, to make up for lost time, since she's a 16 year old muggle. To do this, she would rather be outside testing everything out, than inside the library reading a book (Reading comes hard to her anyways, since she hasn't had much schooling). Naturally, this leads to getting into trouble quite often, and several hilarious accidents.

First/Last Name: Isadora Eris Black (Note: Isaodora is her first name, Eris would be her middle name and Black would be her family name)

Age: 13 (With approval of Lovejoy, Isadora is a special case)

    Height/Weight: 4'9", 86 Pounds

    Appearance: Attachment 3279

Isadora is like a pale ghost as contrasted to her livelier peers- Pale skinned with light blonde hair approaching the borders of white-gray, and even her eyes had the color of a striking, piercing silver-gray which tends to make eye contact difficult for anyone approaching her. Her brooding, distant outlook completes a picture that people would only want to view from a short distance away.

Isadora, despite being a former (though one remains the same house) Slytherin, does not wear dark clothes or some such that stereotypically defines Slytherins but instead, despite her personality, she wears clothes that fit very well with her young age- Pink sweaters, skirts...

Bio: Isadora's past has been the subject of speculation and secrecy ever since news of her coming to Middlemarch has reached the ears of the institution's staff and students. The sketchy few sources provided by the few who knew her says that she was an extremely talented witch even before she enrolled in a school. That said, she does have a small following that is neither approved nor known by Isadora herself, as she never cared about her peers before.

Having been born and raised in London, Britain, of which by whom or how has been impossible to answer thus far, Isadora attended Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at a startling age of 8. The headmaster of Hogwarts then, having known of her talents and receiving some letters of endorsement, made her a year 2 student. Even then, her grades and performance in magic topped her class and house, and she showed no weakness at all in whatever discipline of magic.

While in Hogwarts, she was sorted into the infamous Slytherin school, but according to a former student of Hogwarts who also happened to have been transferred to Middlemarch, she was very unlike a Slytherin, having never picked on anyone nor shown any ambition to dominate others- Instead, all her time and energy past sleeping hours, which were fewer for her, were spent on practicing and studying magic. She was remarked to be always alone and made no friends, though this same former-Hogwarts student also said that it was not because of infamy and such. She was often found in the school library, forbidden forest or any place that is conducive for learning, practicing and experimenting with magic.

The circumstances that lead to her quitting Hogwarts and then travelling to the United States was unknown, but what was known is that she was pulled out of Hogwarts at the age of 12, while she was just entering year 5, though it was unknown if it was by her own volition or as a decision made by her unknown parents. After spending a year without formal education in the United States, she was finally enrolled into the school of Middlemarch at the tender age of 13, again a startling age compared to the requirement of the school.

Personality Traits: Isadora is quiet and highly contemplative, fitting for a prodigy of magic. However, she eschews social contact and any form of distractions as magic has become her only object in life. She isolates herself from everyone else, and whenever someone, anyone but those who were supposed to teach her, attempts to talk to her, disturb her or so much as touches her, they would be rebuked severely, though she would not abuse her magic- She considers it too sacred and valuable to be used that way. This causes other people to shy away from her, and she has no one to blame for this other than herself.

Magical Abilities: While Isadora's magical abilities could even outmatch that of a year 7 student in Hogwarts, her capacity for magic remains about as limited as that of a student her age. There will be adverse effects if she keeps practicing without rest, which was what she does anyway, ignoring all the signs of overwork and stress. Isadora's magical knowledge and proficiency lies mainly within the realms explored in England, which includes Hogwart, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry syllabus, as well as more advanced topics and subjects outside of its curriculum. So this includes, but does not just consist of (I may have missed out a few things):

    Hogwarts Subjects-
    Astronomy (O)
    Arithmancy (O)
    Arithmancy, Advanced (O)
    Apparition (O)
    Alchemy (O)
    Broomstick Flying (E)
    Care For Magical Creatures (O)
    Charms (O)
Defence Against The Dark Arts (O)
    Divination (E)
    Herbology (O)
    History of Magic (E)
    Potions (O)
    Transfiguration (O)
    Study of Ancient Runes (O)
    Muggle Studies (A)

(Note that while she crams everything into her brain, she didn't officially take every one of these subjects. For what she was unable to pack into her schedule, she would study on her own. The grades reflected would be the grades she would have gotten)

    Others-
    Feng Shui
    Duelling- British Systems & Rules
    The Dark Arts
    Healing
    Wandlore

Wand: Vine wandwood, Dragon Heartstring core, 10 1/2 inches long.

    First/Last Name: Ailsa Firth

    Age: 15

    Height/Weight: 5'2

Appearance: Small and lithe, her movements are graceful and she never uses unnecessary energy. She possesses a thin face, pointed chin and sharp eyes, a colour of yellow-green. Her hair is a shock of rich, russet-red down to her shoulders, thick and soft. She seems to have a perpetual grin. Generally, she just wears plain clothes; shin-length dresses in green, blue or brown- over which a cardigan or jumper or jacket. At her throat is a predator's tooth on a chain- small and canine. N.B: she has a small pinkish scar on her right jawline.

    ^Animagus-form^

Bio: Growing up in the highlands of Scotland, she has always been free spirited, with a love of wild places that runs heart-deep. Ailsa spends as much time as she can outdoors in the rugged hills and thick forests there; walking by the streams, climbing mountains and valleys and trees. She is a born explorer; and with her preference for the wild comes an even wilder spirit. Coming from an old, but seldom heard-of wizarding family; she has grown up with magic, knowing its limitations and its uses. Ailsa views it as another force of nature which, to use she must become one with it and respect it, letting it work with her rather than for her.

For her first years of magical tuition, she also attended Hogwarts and while there enjoyed exploring castles and riding brooms (she was never on any House team, but she was a competent Beater). During Hogwarts years she was in Hufflepuff; having many close friends which she was very sad to be split from. Once reaching the age of 15, however: her parents decided to send her to one of the most prestigious schools for magic; Middlemarch, because they wanted Ailsa to be around more children her own age; but mostly they wanted her out of Scotland, out of Britain; for the threats of bombs were always high during the War. Ailsa complied with their request, and off she went.

Personality Traits: Although Ailsa is a free-spirited girl; she does not have a quick temper. She is usually talkative enough, though she is sly and cunning; often tricky but not unfriendly. It is a bad idea to get Ailsa angry however, because then she becomes icy and she will hold a grudge and punish those she feels deserve it. There is an element of somewhat wild, cunning savagery to her; a fox-like quality.

    Place of Origin: Scottish Highlands

Magical Abilities: Animagus talent: a fox. Different to others, she can actually cast some simple spells in this form, although doing so lessens the time she is able to hold it for. Ailsa is good at Transfiguration & Broom Fllying, easonably good at Charms and Herbology, passable at DADA, bad at runes, arithmancy, muggle studies, history of magic and absolutely terrible bordering on disastrous at Potions.

Wand Core: 12 inch Willow wand with the core a tail-hair from a Cu Sith: a Scottish Faerie Ghost Hound.

Other: Ailsa is a skilled Animagus, preferring to be one with nature.

~ And yet, what subtle magic there was in them!
They seemed to be able to give a plastic form to formless things,
and to have a music of their own as sweet as that of viol or lute.

    Mere words!

Was there anything so real as words? ~

    First/Last Name: Peter Christe
    Age: 16
    birth date 01/09/1925
    Height/Weight: 5 foot 8

Appearance: Peter is of italian descent and bears the olive skin and jet black hair so stereotypical of his heritage. His eyes are a deep sea green, piercing from the darkness of his face above a strong sloping roman nose, his face thin with high cheek bones, giving him a look of haughty arrogance which in truth he does not bear. He is slightly short for his age, his growth spurt yet to spring but he is built well, his muscle lean but obvious, the result of an active and successful sports career and a wealthy father. His attractiveness is highly subjective to the person in question, the attraction a battle between the eyes and cheeky white toothed smile that carry hints of a soul much deeper against features that portray a handsome haughty disdain.

Bio: Born inrural Indiana, the only child in a pure blood family, his father and mother both high flying attorney's, their home based in an all wizard community that bordered with an expanding muggle housing estate, the frontier of the noveau riche's retreat into rural areas. Home schooled by an excellent tutor, Peter loathed the introverted and secretive nature of the wizarding community, forever longing to become part of the free muggle world, pressing his nose against the glass as he watched the children play in the parks, run the streets, no secrets... no boundaries.

Seated in the park one day at the tender age of 8, sitting upon the swing watching a group of older boys between 12 and 14 throw a strange object between them, a stray football overthrown by one of them came towards him. He seemed to move like lightening, his movements fluid, leaping to pluck the ball from the air. Impressed the eldest of the boys invited him to play, there jibes and teasing, at his lack of knoweldge forming the first bonds of friendship he had ever known. He flourished within the friendship, learning quickly, his sheer speed and agility aided by an almost supernatural sense of where his man was making him able to compete with the older boys, though there sheer strength and size made it challenging.

After weeks of playing in the day, the summer ended and his friends dissappeared, slipping away back into the mundane life of school, homework and chores. Peter begged his parents to let him go, his mother unswerving in her refusal, his father silent yet perhaps he sensed how happy the very idea made peter, a small smile flittering over his lips. He consented under the understanding that Peter would leave and go to the same preperatory school as generation ater generation of Christo's had attended.

Peter agreed without question, his connections with the boys from the park meaning though he was an outcast, he was never without friends, there younger brothers bonding within him into a tightnit group. He was easily inducted into the school football team , cornor back and 3rd receiver, the star of his own age group, he quickly moved up to play with the 12 year olds he had met in the park. Little leagues began and Peter shone at his own age group, his ability to shut down an opposing receiver the pride of his coach and teammates, tarnished only by the absence of his parents smiling faces in the stands.

Years of training and effort ended in tears and anguish the agreement he had made with his parents turning into a sour reward, the taste of what he could have had so rich so fruitful, loosing it was unbareable. For the first few weeks he was sullen, disruptive and spiteful, canniving a way to remove himself from the school, bitter and twisted he rampaged, spending most of his time in detention. Yet something clicked, in the form of quidditch, the surly bruitsh boy that had cursed and thrown things in class melding seemlessly into the shy smart child he truly was. He had ridden a broomstick before, his parents searching for a way to occupy his time. An excellent flier as agile and speedy as he was upon his feet in the air, he made a natural chaser, specialising in disruption and interceptions, as the opposition came forth making the vital move to break down the move and set up the counter. As a team, his house barely conceeded, there overwhelming defeats the fault of a poor succession of seekers, who continuously failed to capture the snitch, much to Peter's frustration.

Academically he was found to be bright, the foundations given by his tutors making ancient runes, a history of magic and the very basics of magic a breeze, muggle studies beyond easy. It allowed him to divert his attentions to the subjects where he had little background and in doing so he found his passion for the simple subject of charms. He flourished in swishing and flicking, the multitude of spells and the complexity of the movements bowling him over with the sheer magnitude of possibilities within the subject.

The summers were always hard, a reminder of what he was missing, Peter slipping back into the group with football in the park, and various other new less savoury activities his parents were too busy to notice, each time he left a little bereavement. Yet the years progressed, and gradually the boys he used to play with faded away, the age gap meaning this summer many had moved away, to university, married, jobs leaving him alone once more, wishing for a normal life.

Now he goes to a new school, new opportunities and challenges await

Personality: He has the capacity for independence yet he prefers the company of a group, yet friendship has never been earned always handed to him on a silver platter due to his athletic ability. Thus he knows how to be a good friend yet has no idea how to make them. He is not the type to approach yet once approached he will open up completely and honestly, his soul and conscience an open book, his hopes and fears pinned firmly to his sleeve. Additionally as a friend he is loyal willing to back the other to the hilt, though he does not belive in second chances, screw him over once and you no longer exist. Generally though he is relaxed, calm under pressure and upbeat.

Magical Ability:An excellent flier, a very good athlete in general. Also very proficient in charms.

Wand Core: unicorn hair 11 inches willow. The wand is short yet it bearss great spring, the unicorn hair at its core a powerful elixir to his power. He holds it dear and has born it for years, the warmth he felt at its first touch still flaring when he holds it.

Well, now we know it isn't a girl's school I know that it looks like my character's effectively a Mary Sue, but you guys have my assurance that she's not I've pretty much put her shortcomings on a silver platter heh just not all of them.

I'm honestly really impressed with everyone's characters so far. It's pretty rare to not find a 'omg my girl is super hot and she likes shopping and all guys love her' type character, or the reverse for a guy. Everyone's really thought theirs out, which makes me very happy. hahaha.

Oh, and LoveJoy, I forgot to add any specific magical strengths. Is that necessary, or are we going to be developing that later?

If so, I think she will have a knack for herbology, since she's used to growing a lot of her own food at home, as well as flowers to sell at the market. And can she also have a familiar? If so, I would like her to have a Quaker Parrot, with a limited vocabulary so he can repeat simple phrases/messages.

i have to be honest i was going to do a young female teacher but my exploits into female charactors have ended poorly and with the absence of guys in the ranks, i thought i'd toss one up.

Looking forward to getting it started, very curious how the timescale of the rp will work.

    First/Last Name: Alexander Astor
    Age: 16
    Height/Weight: 6’2”
Place of Origin: Northern Rocky Mountains

(This is older and heavier than Alexander would be, and the demeanor is vastly different, but it was the best I could find.)

Appearance: Alexander is an exceedingly nervous looking boy, pale with slicked back gold-brown hair and eyes that are such a pale brown that they almost seem yellow. He has strong, square features and has the potential to be “classically handsome.” He is taller than almost all of the students in his year, but you would not realize it by looking at him due to his thin frame, permanent slouch, and nervous demeanor. He has a tendency to wear more expensive clothing, even when it isn’t necessary (or appropriate) and has tendency to wear exclusively dark and muted colors.

Bio: The Clan Astor is famous throughout the wizarding world for their immense power, vast wealth, and infamous secrecy (which is often attributed to rumors of dark magic use). As the last heir Alexander was raised in a secluded estate, only having his family (going back three generations) to interact with. Rather than go to a primary school, Alexander was privately trained in magic by his family, and as such was taught some techniques that were not traditionally covered in wizarding education.
He was sent to Middlemarch this year at the request of his great-grandfather, who had attended there himself.

Personality Traits: If Alexander were living in the present age he would be diagnosed with both generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. Being the 1940’s however, he is described as merely being “prone to worry,” which is a huge understatement. This causes Alexander to be incredibly shy (which is exacerbated by his inexperience with people) and to stutter. In addition, despite being a talented spell caster, even the simplest spells go awry if he is even slightly flustered.
Despite all of this, Alexander has a incredibly strong sense of honor which, if properly provoked, can completely change his demeanor to that of a confident and powerful leader.

Magical Abilities: When not flustered, Alexander is about average in most magical disciplines. When nervous, however, it can be a miracle for him to correctly cast a lumos spell correctly. The exception is Transfiguration, which he treats almost like an art, and can cast complicated spells under almost any condition.

Alexander has some unorthodox training, which allows him to (under the right circumstances) cast spells without the use of a wand or verbal commands, though he tends to avoid using these abilities in order to not stand out. He is also naturally talented at Transfiguration, and can change remarkably small details with amazing precision.
Alexander is an Animagi. His form is that of a Golden Eagle. His nerves can sometimes cause him to “get stuck” in one form or the other, especially when being watched or under pressure.

Wand: While most magically talented children chose/are chosen by their wand, Alexander had his wand made specifically for him by his paternal grandfather. It is made of Black Oak around a core made from a hair from seven generation of his forefathers wrapped around a blood feather from a young gryphon. It is both incredibly powerful and incredibly fickle, which may be why so many of his spells go wrong. It is loyal exclusively to the House of Astor, and will not work for anyone else.

Other: Alexander is self conscious and inexperienced with people his age, which causes him to be nervous almost constantly during his first couple of days at Middlemarch. This causes his spells to go awry, which causes him to be even more nervous.

Hopefully none of the "exceptional" qualities are pushing it, if they are I'd be happy to edit around them.

@ Toska: Animagi-five? xD (I hope it's not going to be more than a few people doing that...)

Yes, I agree. The characters are pretty cool so far. I'm pretty excited to get this started; don't worry about "mary-sue", briannova- it all comes down to how Isadora actually deals with her powers, and their limitations, which you've clearly indicated there are those.

@ deathbringer: a football player in a magic-school?!?! This will be interesting!
