The world ended long ago. Roughly a century, I've heard from people. Humanity has not been able to climb itself from the depths as was predicted. Killed we were, and dead we stayed.

"But wait, how are you speaking to me now?" You must be asking yourself. Well, I guess you'd be right. We weren't entirely killed off. We've been hanging on the brim. We've used our superior intellect to supersede the torments of nature. We have been pushed into absolute tribal nature. The most base level of human civilization. This isn't for lack of trying, oh no. Everytime humans begin building the technology we had so long ago, we get smacked back down. People used to say it would take us less than a half century to get back on our feet if an apocalypse ever occurred. They never predicted what we have been going through. An electron pulse bomb is set on a fifteen year alarm which releases a global pulse, rendering whatever we have done up to that point, electrical wise, useless. The latest pulse was two years ago, so much progress lost. I was the personal bodyguard for a scientist who was a leader in the field and had come up with a way of fixing the problem. Before the pulse went off he, his name was Jefferson Philips, got a satalite up and running, found an uplink to a military GPS. He found the location of the bomb and wrote it on a map and specific directions to get there. All his life's work ended up on some loose leaf and a cowhide map. Then he died, because I failed. Before he did, he gave me all this information and taught me all I had to know to get the bomb offline.

And now you all, my staff provided by the good scientist, must help me get there. It won't be easy, and I have reason to believe we will receive military resistance, but it must be done. You need to be ready to die to send that information to our destination. Now, grab your equipment, we have a mission.


The apocalypse occurred in the year 2183. The world was flourishing, a total technical marvel. Beam weapons were existent and the driving force of firepower, androids were a common thing and intersystem travel was becoming a possibility. Then the electron pulse bomb went off and everything collapsed, we depended on electrical equipment far too much. Without beam weapons there were only less than a hundred-thousand gunpowder based weapons in the world. Now people fight with their fists mostly or martial arts weapons. There has been a significant increase in the education of martial arts like Kung fu, Krav Maga, Judo, and the like. If a firearm is ever used there is likely to be a death, and no one is immune to a bullet to the head. So a small group of mercenaries and scientists and doctors and whatever else could be scrounge up head through the former united states through to south america. Their journey is long, and people are likely to die, but as long as the group keeps the information flowing in the right direction, it should finds its way into the annals of history, marking the resurgence of old world society.

Age: 35

Race/Ethnicity: Caucasian

Appearance: Gen is tall, standing in at 5 foot 11, weighing a total of 146.8 pounds of muscle. Her hair is a dark brown, long, tangled mess of locks. Her big chocolate brown eyes can either comfort you or make you shit your pants depending on the way she's looking at you. She prefers men's clothing, and usually always wears her favorite cap and aviator sunglasses.

Personality: From an Italian American family, Gen is brash, brilliant, and often prickly but also a confident and independent woman. She is the tomboy daughter of an overprotective mother. She is also extremely competitive, especially with her brothers.

Equipment:
-Police Uniform (when she isn't wearing her civilian clothing);
-Detective's badge;
-Shoremill's Police issued sword;
-Aviator glasses;
-Branded Flask;
-Shoremill Police Cap;
-Black work boots;
-Home-made axe which she forged herself;
-And an Alice pack.


Biography: Gen was born in Shoremill, a small town with a few thousand habitants.The town's children all had to attend to lessons twice a week, which Gen gladly participated in. As the years went by, the town's learning system was upgraded to a few towns people who were in charge of teaching useful everyday tasks such as martial arts, blacksmithing, cooking, writing and reading. All of this was very nice, but it wasn't enough for Gen, she furthered her learning by reading books in her spare time.

When Gen turned 19, Shoremill's police force had just started recruiting young and capable people to train and take the place of older folks who's bodies aren't able to keep up with the town's criminals. She wasn't disregarded because of her gender, as she could keep up with the fittest new recruits -and often surpass them. Her efforts paid off as she was quickly given a position as a patrol officer in the town, much to her parent's dismay who found this occupation dangerous for a young woman. She is now occupying the position of detective.

Being excessively gifted in police tactics such as infiltrating buildings, defusing bad situations or simply talking someone out of hanging themselves, made a now 36 year old Gen a useful candidate for Dr. Philips. Shortly after technology's downfall, Gen began training in Aikido as well as boxing. Knowing how to throw a punch and knowing how to make it hurt certainly useful, but sometimes you must disarm an attacker, or use their own strength against them in order to come out on top.

The bomb happened almost a century ago so I don't think her mother would have been worried about her getting shot at since a "cop" at this point even a cop would just carry around a sword or some other melee weapon. I like the idea of a post apocalyptic police force though, a town could have definitely developed something like that after a century of having to deal with it. I suggest you stick on the path you were on but keep in mind the time constraints. Great character, though.

You can certainly have homemade weapons, however, after everyone understood that the best way to protect ones self is not with a firearm but their own hands and their weapons, blacksmithing became a huge thing. She would probably have a combat axe with her or something like that. Imagine if the distant future were faced with this sort of apocalypse, the equipment would be based on futuristic designs but be simplistic things like swords and stuff like that, I really like to think of what these weapons would look like.

Isn't that cool to think about?

Anyway, can't wait to see everyone else's character sheets. I'll deliver a special message to everyone one in the morning, telling them to join the party if they don't do it while I'm asleep

A couple questions actually,

What kind of transportation are we looking at? Do we still have cars or are we back to feet and horses?

How about communication? Is it safe to assume 15 years is long enough to set up a network?

The way the pulse works is that it fries electrical equipment, rendering it unusable again. So a person would have to rebuild a mother board and the like in order to get electrical things working.

Unfortunately, the pulse does not allow for a consistent communication network. Every time the pulse goes off people have to go out and rebuild their computers and radios and the like and reform communication. An uplink wont be available for quite sometime in the story. Transportation is a very interesting idea; as in, i havent thought of it yet. I suppose there would be trains. I cant see cars working unless they become steam powered which begins to head down a steampunk vibe that I dont want. I'm trying to devise of a way for there to be gliding planes but I cant think of a proper propulsion system.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be open to them.

Oh right, I guess that part slipped from my mind. Whoopsy. But yeah, I guess she could be some sort of peace officer for a small town-ish place.
