Name: Elena of Rivergate

Title: Countess of Rivergate (via her deceased husband, Earl Erick of Rivergate. Her son, Arran, is the current Earl of Rivergate.)

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Appearance: Elena is around 5’6”. She’s slender, with pale skin and long, black hair. Her eyes are grey and framed by thick lashes. She’s quite beautiful and takes great care with her appearance; her dresses the latest style and her hair always done perfectly. At the moment she is still in mourning after her husband’s death and dresses only in black and grey.

Habits and quirks: She is very protective of her son and rarely lets him out of her sight and it is also with him that she is the happiest; otherwise she rarely smiles or laughs.

Bio: At twelve, Elena was promised to Erick, Earl of Rivergate, and at fourteen she married him. At this time, Westend was still at war and her husband, a knight, was rarely home. It took until she was almost eighteen years old for her first child, a son who they named Arran. Her husband was home for the birthing, but left only a few weeks later and was killed in battle shortly after that. Her son inherited Rivergate and is now the Earl of it. Since he is only a year and nine months old, however, Elena’s late husband’s brother now rules Rivergate and Elena fears that he wants to make that permanent.

Erick was the older of two brothers and as such inherited the estate. He married quite young, but his wife died in childbirth as did the child, and for several years after that he remained unmarried and without any other heir than his younger brother, Stefan. Then he married Elena but as the years passed without them having any children, Stefan’s hopes for inheriting grew. The birth of Arran crumbled those hopes, at least until Erick died.

Elena’s family is old and distinguished, but doesn’t have much power and in Rivergate she is at her brother-in-law’s mercy. Stefan cannot challenge Arran’s claim legally, but if he were to meet with an accident…

So fearing for her son’s safety, Elena travelled to court, knowing he would be safer there than in Rivergate. However, Rivergate is a large and rich estate, even after the draining war, and Stefan, being in control of it, has much more to offer than Elena, not to mention that he has had many more years than Elena to build connections and gain allies. Knowing this, Elena knew she had to go somewhere Stefan couldn’t reach her. When she heard of the expedition to convince the peasantry of the necessity of the war, she decided that might very well be her best option, since it would gain her the protection of knights loyal to the king.

If things had been different, Elena would probably have been content to remain a traditional noblewoman; embroidering, reading romances, caring for the house and raising her children. She would never have gone off on any sort of adventure if it wasn’t for the safety of her son.

Still, she does feel for the peasantry and wants to help. She doesn’t know much about their lives beyond what she has seen on her father’s and later her husband’s lands, but she knows they often lead hard lives and suffer much.

Possessions: Her wedding ring which she wears on her finger and also that of her husband, which she wears on a chain around her neck.

Appearance

As the public recognizes her.As all women born into nobility, Gabrielle is a paragon of both grace and beauty. Though not tall, her body is long and slender with curvy hips and plump, inviting breasts. Her thick red hair falls in locks over her shoulders and down her back. With a porcelain complexion, her high rosy cheekbones accent her intense sky-blue eyes and looking into those eyes there is no mistake that she is the King’s daughter. Despite the smile she seems to always offer, there is a sadness in her expression; a hidden burden.

As she rides the countryside, among her father’s knights and nobles, she appears as her Twin brother. During their long rides from village-to-village she rides atop her brother’s horse, and dons his armor and colors. His own sword rests at her side. Her recently shorn hair falls just to her shoulders, where she often lets the ginger waves blow across her face in the wind, when she is not wearing her brother’s helmet, or seeking the warmth of a cloak’s hood. At all costs she does her best to hide the finer features of her visage. Even those in the entourage who might know better of her true identity, she has sworn them to secrecy on pain of death; it is a dangerous secret indeed. In her pack she keeps a bit of charcoal from fires, and rubs it across her jaw and cheeks to give the appearance of a five-o-clock shadow.

Habits and Quirks

Despite her role and upbringing, Gabrielle has ever wished to please her father, the King, and just as often has found herself red-cheeked and speaking her mind to him. This has often gotten her in trouble. Despite this, she has always taken a keen interest in both the politics and governance of the nation. It is not a woman’s role to roam the countryside spreading the word and goodwill of the King, but she will do her duty nonetheless.

For the love she bears for her family and her nation, she will stop at nothing to do what is right and just... regardless of her naivety.

Biography

Gabrielle is the second born of twins, and is the prized eldest daughter of King Reinhard. Many refer to her as the “jewel” of the Court, but just as many whisper that she is far too strong-willed for her own good. Despite her status as a woman she has never been afraid to speak her mind, and it has caused her trouble and pain more than once.

As was expected, her upbringing was filled with the typical studies of any woman: how to run any household, and act as any graceful lady. Though much of these youthful years are unremarkable, the princess showed an unnatural interest in both ruling and courtly intrigue. perhaps in part due to her kinship with her twin brother William, with whom she has shared much. For many years the princess would sneak into feasts and parties, and from the shadows she would watch, and listen.

When she came of age, she often sat alongside her father and brothers at Court, listening to his governance of a nation. Gabrielle has never had any lack of suitors seeking her hand in marriage, even during a time of war. She was often presented at Court to her many suitors. King Reinhard has not yet secured a Marriage Contract. That Gabrielle just recently turned 16, and remains unmarried, has caused much discussion at Court.

Regardless of her choices she sincerely, if rather naively, believes she will make her father proud.

Possessions

Much of what she carries are her brother’s possessions: his sword, his horse, even his clothes. They were not at all difficult to obtain in secret. However, beyond all she required to maintain her disguise the most notable item is her family signet ring that she wears on her left ring finger. It is an old heirloom given to her by her mother, and it is never seen off her finger.

Gabrielle also carries a small jeweled dirk secured around her forearm, and (semi) hidden beneath the sleeves of her garments. Though she has no skill in fighting, she keeps the blade close… just in case.

She also carries a satchel, and inside she secretly carries a finely made dress of dark red satin.

Habits and quirks: Brushing his hair behind his ear with thinking, quite, unnoticeable often seems skitsh and almost afraid of weapons and fighting. Telth is the opposite, very sure and calm always analyzing and watching, sizing everybody up looking for weaknesses, in both the physical and mental of a person.

Bio: Much of Telth's past is unknown as he was an assassin of the highest caliber during the wars, never having failed an assignment. working personally under the Prince he reported to nobody else, as very few even knew the spook existed. Using the role of Asten, the humble servant, as his cover for being close to the prince and in the castle. Telth has little thoughts on the grand scale of things, the war just means work, and to him the there is no difference between noble or peasant, as their blood is red either way.

But as asten he is a simple servant who believes that the war was just and righteous, for the borders to remain safe and to bring peace to the land. Those of the nobles, who fought for the country were the heroes, just as much as the peasants who fought next to them. This mission of showing the lesser classes that they are cared fore is a noble venture and one that he is proud to be apart of. A spry if some what slow lad he easily moves unseen and un-noticed.

As for the real reason he is there, Prince Dietrich was concerned for the mission so he Sent telth with the gourp disguised as Asten, who could move unnoticed in a town, would could listen and hear what would never be said around knights and nobles. He could also act, preventing anything that might happen



Possessions: His assassin gear is tucked away in a hidden compartment or the princess' Wagon, including his cloak, daggers, throwing knives, smoke bombs, and rapier. On his person he wears two special made leather bracers, in which are two knives known as punch knives. A blade with no handle, just a skinny neck and the bottom Ts so that he can hold it between his fingers and when he makes a fist the four inch blade sticks out under his knuckles. The cover is that it is all the remains of his dead fathers armor.

We now have five player characters, easily enough to start the roleplay. Please do note that if you are holding up the RP by not posting for several days and another player decides your character has a heart attack... well, I won't contradict them. You can recover from a heart attack if you rejoin the roleplay and post in time though!

Please keep in mind the Advanced RP Rules. While I won't be a stickler about them, they are a good guide, and having a small goal in mind for every post is helpful.

Since no one picked him up, you want me to do the Prince? I have no issue doing two characters, although if the Prince I would need to take some direction; like, where are they going? Any ulterior motives to this quest? Things in general the Prince might know or have an agenda for.

I think Merlot wants to use the prince, although I'm still clarifying some details with her through PM. You can act as though the prince is with the group if you want to post.
