By any chance... could the "treasure" be aa Dragon?
NOTE: Until we get some droppage, this RP at the moment is now CLOSED; but I will always be updating this as characters come and go, so check back soon!
So here we go!
The RP Thread!
Etil. A Kingdom positively awash in peace. After accumulating a vast fortune under their Golden Age of Prosperity, it seems as if the balancing hand of fate has finally caught up to them. It all started when a group of ambassadors from an overseas empire known as Krad paid a visit to the King of Etil, in the capitol city of Regalin. Despite assuring King Regalin of their good-natured political visit, this meeting was followed quickly by the invasion of several fringe provinces of the Kingdom by Krad forces. Now with a firm presence in the city and a large, powerful military overseas, the normally-benevolent King is forced into a stalemate regarding the safety of his people. Slowly, the invasive reach of the Krad soldiers spreads along the continent, claiming villages and burning forests for fuel for their machines. But, what can be done? Why is this happening?
The only clue to the Krad invasion lies with the legend of the Treasure that sleeps buried deep beneath the royal city. Shrouded in mystery, it is rumored to be able to grant the wishes of any who wield it. It is also said to be able to decimate entire countries. Who knows, but its presence does little to dissuade Krad occupation of Etil.
The Kingdom of Etil. It is perhaps distinguished as the most generic of fantasy settings, consisting primarily of the Royal City of Regalin in the center of the huge continent, and primary landmarks extending in the four cardinal directions away from the city. They are...
----The Northrite Mountains, an imposing mountain range to the north, just as the name indicates.
----The Eastaire Plains, a huge expanse of arid lowlands that eventually becomes total desert
----The Southend Swamplands, an endless and treacherous system of marshes and mires
----The Westwind Hills, a system of foothills, coastal plains, forests, and several lakes that lead to ocean ports
The Kingdom itself is surrounded on all sides by ocean, and other Kingdoms lie far across the seas. It is from one of these foreign lands that the Krad hail. They have started their invasion in the west, seizing control of a few major port towns and villages in the Westwind Hills. They have radically changed the technological climate in the kingdom, wielding gadgets and low-grade firearms that make conquering a breeze. It seems as if the only thing stopping them from laying waste to the Kingdom is the cautious instruction of their ambassadors in Regalin.
In addition to all of this, Etil is only approximately a millenia old; it was at one point inhabited by a prosperous ancient civilization, but all traces and records of them simply vanished....It was as if they simply slipped away into time itself.
- So obviously, I'm not looking to break a lot of ground with this RP. But I'm just looking to have a bit of fun, and I think that's important. So the tone is somewhat light-hearted (can you tell with all of the locations' terrible pun-names?). If I could describe the feel for it in any way, I'd sort of consider it like a sort of Nintendo world. Things can be simple, and even a bit funny, but there's definitely room for depth and solid plotlines. In fact, I've already got a long-term plot in the works (PM me if curious!) so don't think I'm some simpleton. I want this RP to primarily focus on collaboration. The plot will start simple and hopefully expand exponentially from there. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to voice them!
There's magic, weapons, quests, war, all this good stuff to be had. So if you're the least bit interested, go ahead and hop on board!
Name: character name; as normal or crazy-sounding as you see fit
Race: hey you can be whatever you want! humans would be the "dominant" race in the kingdom, but if you can think it then you can be it! just make sure to include a decently-detailed description if it's an original creation. for that matter, try to keep it pretty original. (ex: an elf would be fine, but a moogle, not so much)
Appearance: racial description may go in this box, or in conjunction
Personality: how the character acts! try to write a few sentences maybe?
Bio: as short or as long as it needs to be....what are their goals in this RP? for instance, my character will be journeying to Regalin in order to request aid from the king, since his village has been captured by Krad soldiers.
Weapons/Equipment: any swords, bows, wands, etc. but also bags, bottles, snacks, and the like
Magic: pretty loosely-defined here--anything from fireballs to telepathy to summoning. if it's a mystical ability that doesn't go to your character's race, put it here!
Special Skills: maybe your character is an expert farmer or tree-climber...put it here
Character Theme: just a little something I like to do in my RPs. it's cheesy as hell, but I encourage you to find a song that represents your character! preferably something melodic, maybe videogamey. but that's up to you!

By any chance... could the "treasure" be aa Dragon?
Name: Nimh Cornel
Age: 81 years old
Race: Half-Dark Elf
Appearance: His eyes are large and red, and his skin are ash black. His hair is even blacker. He stands at 6'5, and is very slender and thin, this appearance hides his strength so well that many underestimate him despite his height.
Personality: He is an intellectual and cultured man. Despite his age of 81 years, he is actually more like 30 as a half-Dark elf, and thus he is still "young". He believes in fighting oppression and over-bearing authority even though he knows and accepts that law, order and organized society have a proper place in life. He has fought and killed many slavers throughout his "young" life.
Bio: He was born decades ago as the product of an illegitimate union between his mother, a Human, and his father a Dark Elf. From his father he inherited many unique talents, from his mother he gained even greater cunning than a Dark Elf usually would pass down to their offspring. He fought at the age of 60 as brigand and was captured at the age of 70 robbing travelers. He was tortured and made a slave for over ten years but since he was tortured so badly, he had un-recoverably damaged hands. The slavers realized that a Dark Elf would have unusual skills so they had a sorceress cure his hands after making him swear an oath to serve them. He served them as a Healer for ten years before he was finally freed by a squadron of knights.
He also retained his skill with the long sword. During the Knight's raid on the marauder's camp, he made his way to the chief's tent and kill him and his gaurds with the help of a few knights, and reclaimed his family sword.
Weapons/Equipment: He has a powerful, enchanted longsword named Bane and a large stash of magical healing herbs. His sword, Bane, is enchanted to be powerful enough to change it's effectiveness against different enemies. For example, once per day he can change it's enchanted effectiveness against a certain type of opponent, with the added enchantment being specific to what he wants done. I.E, one day he may have a bonus to harming undead opponents, and the next day he has a bonus to harm just vampires. The vampires would be harmed more by the sword, but the sword wouldn't have an extra ability to harm any other monster.
Magic: He's a powerful magic-user as well as a fighter. He can attack with lightning bolts, cast healing spells and has a bond with nature to call nocturnal monsters and animals. Some claim he can even raise the dead.
Special Skills: He is a master survivalist, herbalist, and swordsman.
I shall be making a cs sometime tomorroe afternoon since its very late right now :-(
Name: Kilaloa Fiere
Race: Fire-denizen/Sinshi hybrid. Fire-denizens are a race of people who come from volcanos and areas deep in the ground. This species is very rare. Sinshi are dark beings that appear as beautiful, winged ‘angels’ but are truly soul-sucking creatures.
Appearance: Kilaloa has black hair with red tips. Her eyes are dark grey and her skin bronzed slightly. Dark black wings with fire on the edges sit high on her shoulders with a full wingspan capable of complete flight.
Personality: She is happy most of the time but sometimes has a quick temper. When angered, her Sinshi side comes out.
Bio: Kilaloa’s family was killed when she was young. The fire-denizen people took her in and raised her as if she were a pure-blood. Now that the Kred are invading, the volcanos and fire-homes are threatened. She is journeying partly to save her people and for adventure.
Weapons/Equipment: Two scimitars crossed behind her. One can be lit on fire with her powers, the other has an old Sinshi poison on it. A bow and quiver of arrows ride across her lower back, unlike most bows. No armor to speak of.
Magic: Control of any fire around her. She can conjure flames but only in a limited amount. Her Sinshi powers include the wings and increased resistance to mental powers.
Special Skills: Surprisingly good assassin.
Character Theme: Will think about this
Name: Eau de Nocte
Race: Yelk. The Yelkan people are a race of light-beings that came into being long ago when the world was dark. When light came across the land, it diluted their special light and killed them. In order to survive, they took to dark places and the water, which diluted the effects of the light. Around the age of 200 they die and become part of the civilization beneath the oceans of the world.
Appearance: When in his mostly corporeal form (at night or in the dark), he takes the vague shape of a male human. He is tall and lean but none of his features are clearly discernible. When inside his ‘container’ he appears to be a small golden fish in the water.
Personality: Wise, but strangely humorous considering his situations.
Bio: As part of an ancient race, he worries for other races and the status of the world. With the invasion of the Kred, his people are afraid the oceans may become polluted, which would effectively destroy their civilization and many others. When he met Kilaloa, she agreed to carry him in an urn full of water, at least during the day.
Weapons/Equipment: None to speak of. No armor because he can become non-corporeal at will.
Magic: Has the ability to control light sources to a certain limit. Can make like solid temporarily, though only he can wield these weapons. Very good at lighting up dark areas.
Special Skills: A very good scout and very knowledgeable of the world.
Character Theme: Will think about this
This interests me greatly. If your still accepting, I could have a CS up by tonight or tomorrow?
aaand my bio:
Name: Rezo Emeril
Race: Human! (/werewolf)
...And a bit on werwolves: There's very little romanticizing the age-old monsters in this RP. Come the full moon, anyone afflicted by the werewolf's curse (it is magical in nature) will turn into a savage, rampaging beast, with all of the instincts of a feral predator. In human form, they pass for normal enough, aside from a few curious physical traits: maybe slightly hairier, reflective eyes, good night-vision, subtle mannerisms, etc. Not a lot is known about them in Etil, as any known werewolf is usually cast out from society or otherwise killed. Perhaps, in other countries, research is being done on the curse...
Appearance: A tall, brown-haired young man with a round face and soft green eyes, and tan skin. His hair is usually kept short, and has a bad habit of sticking up if it gets too long. Usually wears a set of leatherware armor, which can be belted around the torso but otherwise hangs as a loose vest. He also wears leather fingerless gloves, sturdy work pants, and hiking boots. Carries around a brown animal-skin rucksack around his shoulders. Rezo isn't exceptionally tall, nor very short...so he's pretty average! A bit burly though, as a life of hard work is wont to do.
Personality: "A good kid" describes him well. Rezo is very soft-spoken, but when he speaks it's usually polite and very straight-forward. He isn't exactly shy, but is certain to not draw the wrong kind of attention to himself. A hard-worker, but solitary by nature. He doesn't seem to long much for a tight-knit group of friends, nor a large-scale crowd scene, instead more comfortable in the countryside. Very unlikely to swear or be crude in any way. All-in-all, sort of forgettable. Maybe even a bit of a doormat at times. He doesn't leave an impression on people in most situations, but there are certain things he excels at. Also has a good moral sense and understands an objectivity of right and wrong. However, this calm and nice attitude can sometimes snap when the full moon approaches.
Bio: Born in the small rural village of Torden in the Westwind Hills, somewhat near the coast. He lived a relatively normal life with his family: a mom, dad, and three siblings, being the oldest of the three. Responsibility came naturally to him, and Rezo was an adept hunter and could work for a decent living as a trapper or selling things he could harvest from the woods. However, life got much more complicated when he was attacked one night by a large animal coming home late from a hunt. Getting knocked unconscious, he at first thought nothing of the wounds, but then learned the truth: doomed to wander as a victim of the werewolf's curse, he struggles to keep his life relatively normal. That incident was approximately one year ago, and soon after, the Krads seized control of Torden and the surrounding area.
The townspeople all had a secret meeting one night and decided that they would send a representative to the city of Regalin in order to get an audience with the King and request support in resisting the Krads. Fighting them off proved useless, and the invaders were monopolizing the village's resources. Rezo volunteered to go, as he knew it was the right thing to do. He was young and strong, capable of the journey, and it was growing impossible to keep his facade going--only a matter of time until one of the villagers grew suspicious of him or caught him in a transformation. Also, this meant one less mouth for his struggling family to feed...
-A hunting knife, which is roughly six inches long and used more for utility than combat, but certainly capable of deep wounds.
-A hunting bow, which Rezo is quite adept with. He has an uncanny knack for aim and can usually take out larger game using one arrow.
-Rucksack full of lots of great things: herbs, a rain block, some dried meet, a canteen, small paper bags for tea, and a couple other things like rope and flint.
-None to speak of, but likely has a decent talent if he was to try and learn any. Definitely has an "eye" for magic, and can usually get a feeling when something is enchanted, or if magic is happening around him.
-Awesome at tracking, hunting, and identifying plants. At least those in the Westwind Hills area, but is good at cataloging new discoveries. Also, quirkily enough, he's obsessed with tea and is great at fashioning homemade tea bags. Expert herb identification helps this along.
Rinn: haha, can't say what the treasure is! maybe I haven't even thought of one yet!
ActRaiser: nice character!
Blue Moon Queen: ooh, I love them! the fire/water duality is so creative
Denver: always accepting until further notice!

My computer once had over 300 cookies. So I put it on a diet.
Name: Lars Kelstadt
Appearance: Lars stands at a mediocre 5 foot 10 inches. He has brown eyes and a head of very short quarter-inch black hair. A scar dominates across his left cheek. He is muscular, with little body fat. Lars' upper body shows signs of rigorous sword training, calloused hands, thick arms meant for swinging and broad chest for extremely exaggerated movement. His legs are made for sprinting short distances, covering ground in the blink of an eye. For his particular sword style, Lars wears little in the way of body armor, preferring to keep it light with a tough leather tunic fused with chainmail. His outfit is completed with padded leggings and hide boots. His twin shortswords rest on his hips.
Personality: As a child, Lars would be a very patient and quiet person. He did not go to the creek and stone frogs on school-off nights or laugh and mock the village witch like his fellow peers did. He obediently did all his parents asked of him, until a severe epidemic broke out in the surrounding area. During his training in the mountains to the north, he became more angry and resentful. Finally when he came down from the temple he trained at, he learned the art of staying centered. Nowadays, Lars tends to have an impassive look on his face, as if ever contemplating whatever is in front of him. He dislikes magic, viewing it as an art that is unbalanced with the way magic users gain power.
Bio: Lars was taken in by a group of traveling Kensei monks whilst he was being moved around in the city of Regalin. This happened after a virulent disease that wiped out mostly everyone living in the general area of his village ran its course and eventually died out, going as fast as it had struck. After he was adopted by these martial artists, Lars quickly grew hateful and full of spite because of what happened to him. By the day he reached his 16th winter, Lars had been taught the ways of meditation, focus, instinctual awareness and balance. This tough, yet spiritual training molded his feelings of loathing the world into impassivity, as if he was a rock in water, splitting the turbulent stream of emotion around him and letting none touch him too deeply. He was trained to believe that extreme anger gives way to carelessness and too much calm dulls the senses to the environment. The trick is to be completely in the center, collecting all feeling and avoiding putting too much weight on one emotion.
After completing his trial of arms, where Lars chose his choice weapon to dedicate his life to (the way of the short sword: the generalist), the young man of 23 years of age found the royal city of Regalin in turmoil with the recent invasion of the Krad. Viewing this as an opportunity to test his skills, Lars is now thinking of a way to participate in the conflict that would maximize the use of his skills.
One leather/chainmail armor piece
A set of twin shortswords
Rugsack full of supplies
Special Skills: Lars is an expert in wielding his trusty shortswords, he can move very quickly when he needs to. In battle he is a blur, trying to end it as hastily as possible with definite results. This usually comes down to him trying to end each fight he encounters in an expeditious fashion. His kills are brutal and merciless if it will bring an end to the conflict.
He can use his weapons in short to mid range combat, being the generalist. His mastery of his weapons shows when he effortlessly glides between these two modes of combat.
Character Theme: I actually don't think this is cheesy as hell. I think it's pretty damn awesome. Anyway, here is the theme, I happened upon it by pure random, dumb luck. Me think it fits this character pretty well.
