    Vampire - The Masquerade

I recently came up with an idea for a sandbox Vampire - The Masquerade game, that encompasses a threat to all Kindred society and comes in the form of something even the unfaithful fear. The return of the Antediluvians.
I plan to make this game very open, a sort of every-Kindred-for-themselves theme to it, playing in about two cities on Earth (Two ICs). The threat comes to devour the world's Kindred as a whole, so everyone will be effected.
As it's sandbox, I plan to open up the Sabbat and other Sects for playability, not just the Camarilla, and I'll make a large thread elsewhere detailing each Clan and Sect so people who have never played can intergrate a little easier.

Because I plan for this game to be massive, I won't be releasing an OOC for a far bit, but most definitely before the end of January. I'm hard at work getting the details down, and am in the market for co-GMs.

Because it's the world of The Masquerade, humans won't be playable unless they are hunters, as that would be extremely boring UNLESS YOU PLAN TO GET SIRED! I've figured out most of the things I'll allow, but there are a few things I'm locking. For example, while Malkavians are awesome, I'm limiting how many there are playable in one city, as a city overrun by Malkavians will surely burn :P

What I have so far is

    - The Camarilla Clans are all playable
    - The Sabbat Clans are playable
    - The Independent Clans Assamite (Assassins), Giovanni (Necromancers) and Ravnos (Deceivers) are playable. Followers of Set are restricted and need special permission.
    - Non-Kindred races such as Ghouls, Gargoyles and Kuei-Jin are playable at a GMs discretion.
    - No canon characters are playable, and will hardly feature here unless I think it's appropriate.
    - The cities that will be played in (to start with) are Washington DC and Paris
    - Disciplines will be available, but weakened (you'll understand when the time comes)
    - Willpower (Humanity/Morality) is going to be used. So don't go mindlessly kill people... unless that's what you want.

So, what do you guys think?

I'll be gone for a few days... not sure when I'll get back, but the GMs of the game's I'm in will be briefed

I am interested, but I have absolutely no knowledge of Vampire: The Masquerade. I've heard about it, but I've never played it.

Would I be able to get by by reading a wiki?

EDIT: And if this is the case, what wiki would you suggest? There are a lot.

I have a Brujah primogen I've tried playing several times. Each time the game has perished after a few scenes. Generally, in addition to watching over his clan he also smuggles illegal weapons and serves as the Prince's war master. He's very much a team player as he yearns to rebuild Carthage. He also has a decided interest in Golconda but has no real idea where to start upon the path (plus its tenets are probably beyond him).

Edit: I rather imagine, if we're talking about the Anti-deluvians, that my Brujah would be working closely with the Tremere primogen

I might import the last Vampire I played - 8th gen. Lasombra antitribu who ended the campaign as Seneschal of Chicago, but that could be translated to Washington DC?

Interesting. I like that idea. I'm curious as to how a Lasombra managed to incur such trust as to become a Camarilla seneschal.

Trust? Trust? You've not been playing Vampire very long, have you? Hah, I'm joking.

Basically, there were a small gaggle of Lasombra antitribu that served the Camarilla with the protection of the establishment - by small, I mean one borderline-Methuselah Primogen and his three childer. Victor, the youngest, was a former priest who ran a women's shelter but secretly it was a discrete brothel for Chicago's wealthy and powerful - who naturally he was blackmailing the hell out of for fun and profit. When a fire set by Assamites gutted the power base of his Camarilla patrons, Victor not only essentially led the party investigation, but also exploited the power vacuum by becoming campaign manager to both the Ventrue and Toreador candidates who were running for Prince - simultaneously. No matter who won, so did Victor. He knew that being a Lasombra he didn't have the numbers or political support to last long as Prince, so he just made himself the obvious (indeed, only) candidate for Seneschal. Who actually became Prince was irrelevant. As long as he was Seneschal, that was a win condition.

The Toreador won, appointed Victor as Seneschal in gratitude and Victor fed the Ventrue to the Assamites to keep him quiet - and since he didn't actively diablerize the Ventrue, his aura is nice and clear of taint, though he did take a sizable Humanity loss for the act.

Then there were some shenanigans where actually we were being manipulated by a Torpor'd Ventrue Elder who was awakened by the Tremere Primogen. He woke up, drank most of the city Brujah in doing so and declared that now he was Price, our Toreador was now his "chancellor" or deputy prince - essentially taking the administrative bits of the Seneschal role from Victor - the Elder was perfectly happy with Victor as Seneschal, since he'd proven himself more than capable in the role. With the boring bits of being Seneschal handed off to the Toreador Chancellor, that just left the "head of the secret police" bits for Victor, a comparatively benevolent grand vizier ruling Chicago from the shadows at campaign's end.

    Moohahaha.

You're quite right. There's "trust" and then there's "Trust". The second being exceptionally rare. My personal favourite is putting bombs into vampire's heads. It doesn't quite work so well on humans, killing them more often than not, but on walking corpses... *whistles innocently*

That's quite interesting. I particularly like the double dealings, and political intrigue. In most games I've participated in the player characters all expect to work together which... of course, forced me to take advantage. *grins* I mean, how could you not when they're all so trusting?

Mind you, I think your storyteller was quite kind. For example, if the Assamites were a bit more intelligent they'd have divulged Victor's double dealings and allowed the Ventrue to run free instead of feeding upon them. It would have thrown the city into even greater chaos and would have been in the Assamites interests. For example, they might have been able to prey upon the remaining warring factions with near impunity and while doing so "sell" the city to the Sabbat for a regular supply of blood. (Ie. non-repeating donors as to avoid blood bonding)

The Assamites don't rat on clients because otherwise they wouldn't get work, and the party-Ventrue's diablerie was actually part of their price for their attacks - not such a kind ST, eh? As far as the Assamites knew, Victor was acting as an agent of their employer completing the transaction when he fed the party Ventrue to them, so he was covered by that discretion. And one of the first things Victor did in office (or rather, got the Prince to do) was gather the Primogens and declare a Blood Hunt on the Assamites - as public punishment for their attacks - so they'd take that knowledge to the grave anyway and if they did start blabbing, no-one would believe them. Victor was very good at exploiting existing circumstances to further his own agendas in such a way that no-one knew that he'd actually done anything.

Possibly the Ventrue Elder might have known, since he was the one who had the Assamites hired to clear the way for his return and get vengeance on his disloyal childer. And since Victor had been (unwittingly - he'd suspected the Toreador's sire as the one who hired the Assamites) serving the Elder's purposes and quite ably, he wasn't going to get rid of someone that useful.
