Born in a Lab IC (RedDusk x Raez) R.

The girl was afraid, but her instincts made her open her eyes. She laid flat on the white table, in the middle of the all-white room. With a bit of difficulty, she pushed herself up and sat there, as two people admired her from behind a table, in front of which the walls of her room ended. Her only concern was looking for a way out. She felt the need to see everything, and yet she didn't know how to get out.

Her name was Faye. She threw herself to the ground in front of the table, then stood up, confused. Stumbling on her feet as she moved, she ran into the window before the white desk the two people stood by, hitting her forehead. She was desperate to get out, but the window had harshly taught her a lesson. Confused, the girl put one of her hands against the window and touched it with each of her fingers, one by one. She hit it with her fist, but it wouldn't break. Unable to understand why she was trapped, she finally looked at the two men.
All I ever lead to is chaos.

If, after we have recognized intuitively a number of simple truths, we wish to draw any inference from them, it is useful to run them over in a continuous and uninterrupted act of thought, to reflect upon their relations to one another, and to grasp together distinctly a number of these propositions so far as is possible at the same time. For this is a way of making our knowledge much more certain, and of greatly increasing the power of the mind.

We ought to give the whole of our attention to the most insignificant and most easily mastered facts, and remain a long time in contemplation of them until we are accustomed to behold the truth clearly and distinctly.

The Meditator reasons that he need only find some reason to doubt his present opinions in order to prompt him to seek sturdier foundations for his knowledge. Rather than doubt every one of his opinions individually, he reasons that he might cast them all into doubt if he can doubt the foundations and basic principles upon which his opinions are founded.

“You did what?”- Hugh raised his voice, slamming his fist against the wooden table. The painful collision knocked some sense into his rage-clouded mind, bought enough time for him to continue his sentence-“This…This is madness. You can’t even consider doing something this…I thought better of you, father”-He spat out, the word felt foreign on his tongue. How long had it been since the last time he said it? He couldn’t recall.

-“Calm down, Hugh.”-The man behind the desk said softly, as if trying to stop a childish tantrum. His emotionless blue eyes locked tightly onto Hugh’s matching ones.-“You know why I’m doing this. And I need your help.”

He glanced back at his father, sparks of rage still lingered in his eyes. But he knew better. It took a few seconds for a proper sentence to form in his head. –“Fine.”-He was pleased with the result. His voice sounded much calmer, though still strained -“Show me the document

Hugh sat silently behind the glass, his lips pressed into a thin line. So it worked. She was alive now. He glanced over at his father, noting a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. The old man was smiling. Strange. He didn’t even thought his father was capable of doing such thing. At least, not anymore.

    Remind me why I’m here”

To teach her, son. Psychology is not my field of expertise, after all. Besides, there is only one person in the world I can trust her with”- There was a hidden meaning in his words, but Hugh wasn’t interested in finding out. He had his own plan to work with.

“Just burn it into her brain. I have all the basic stuffs in here if your scientists haven’t prepared it yet. And I double-checked it. No porn in there.”- He took a small CD out of his left pocket and placed it on the table before exiting the room. That should be enough. It had to be.

He stepped into the all-white room, his hands stuffed inside the pockets of his lab coat. And there she was, as real as ever. Unfortunately, this didn’t seem like one of those bad dreams where everything returned to normal as soon as he woke up screaming. Yes…How unfortunately for him. Ignoring the freezing air pricking at his skin under the white coat, he leaned forward, putting on a small smile for the girl.

-“So…Hi, I guess”- He felt like a idiot for saying that. It wasn’t like she could understand that anyway.

(man I love the way you write so bad.)

One of the people left and the other one stepped into her room and approached her. Faye watched closely. Her white eyes, now open as ever, stared at him, as she struggled to walk closer to him, holding herself against the wall with both her palms. Still afraid, her hands shivered a bit. Stopping for a moment, she watched her arms tremble, then moved her sight back to the man dressed in white. He talked to her, but she didn't have the slightest clue what he was saying. She smiled.

(just speed things up a bit)
Hugh leaned down and offered her a hand. She seemed to have some difficulties walking. He felt a knot tightened in his stomach. No…It was just probably because she wasn’t used to her new body yet. No point worrying over silly things like that. He sighed, trying to calm his raging nerves. It wasn’t like he was helping his father with a project for the first time. This shouldn’t be different. Except last time, it didn’t actually involve illegal human cloning, hacking top-secret information or scheming against his father. He frowned, shrugging the thoughts off. This was stupid. He had to stop freaking out soon, or risked screwing up his plan and faced his father’s wrath.

“You know how to smile. That’s good…”- His gaze was drawn back to the strange girl before him. Aside from the hair and eye color, she looked pretty normal. No unusually sharp teeth. No pointy ears. This was going to save him some effort in getting her out. All of sudden, he found it difficult to tear his gaze from her smile. It made her look almost…human. Wait…Wasn’t she already one? It was a fact he had to get used to. Lest risk going down the some road his father had.

He immediately straightened himself when the door behind them opened, but still keep a hand on her arm. Two men in white lab coat stepped him, one carrying some documents and the other had a tray with him.

“Yes?”-He glanced at them, raising an eyebrow. Hadn’t his father already given full control of this project? And he didn’t remember asking for anything.

“We’re just going to collect some data. Mr Mercer’s orders.”-One men answered, while the other set the tray on the nearby table.

Crap. He hadn’t thought of this. If they managed to get their hands on even the smallest bits of information, his plan was going to crumble. He couldn’t let them do this. Not once he had managed to proceed so far without any problem.

“ Wait a minute. What about the data I gave you? Shouldn’t you be going through that first?”

“There are already people working on that, yes. I’m just here to gather materials for…cloning”

So they already had plans for her if she didn’t meet the requirements. Couldn’t say he was surprised. It was his father here, after all. He left nothing for chances. Unfortunately, this time, the odds weren’t in favor. A smirk appeared briefly on his lips as the red light filled the room. So they finally activated the CD. Took them long enough. Before the other men could react, Hugh grabbed the tray from the table and hit the nearby scientist with all his strength. Only when his body dropped to the floor with a loud thud had his partner realized what was going.

    “What ar—“

But the poor man didn’t have the chance to finish his sentence before Hugh charged at him, pinning him to the floor and began whacking him with the tray. It took a few more hits to put the scientist to sleep, but he got it done anyway. Straightening himself up and panting softly, Hugh suddenly realized the girl’s presence. Well…Maybe he shouldn’t have done that. Displaying violence in front of children was never a good idea.

“…Hey. Look I’m not gonna hurt you, okay? But right now, we have to get out of here before more bad men come. See? Bad men are going to harm you.”-He quickly gestured to the syringes laying across the floor, praying that she understand.-“We have to leave now”

(Alrights. And since when the fuck do you write so much! Hah.)

Faye watched silently as the man beat the scientists up. Yeah, they seemed like some harm, but she didn't know what violence was anyway. Alarmed by the flashing red light and the alarm sounds, her sight moved to the opened door. In an instant, her feet began to run towards it, as she grabbed Hugh's arm and dragged him along. She ran through the hallways without the smallest doubt that she had to get out, and, surprisingly, she didn't fall. Reaching a metal door, she stopped and looked over to the man, confused.

(We haven’t rped for quite a while, have we?)
Hugh grunted as the girl’s grip tightened around his arm. She was quite strong, for someone her size. Must be because of the enhancement. Though he really didn’t expect his father to tamper with the gene that much. Making a mental note to reread the documents later, he glanced up at the girl, wondering. What else could she do? It might take time for all her powers to emerge, though. And he wasn’t sure she would be alive until then.

A metal door appeared, blocked their path. Hugh stopped, giving the confused girl a reassuring smile before turning to the door. So they had finally managed to upgrade the security? He snickered, reaching inside his pocket for a fountain pen. After all, he didn’t just keep the old thing around for sentimental reasons. With the pen, he easily unscrewed an outlet plate on the nearby wall and proceeded to tamper with some wires. Shortly afterward, the door opened.

“This way.”-He put the pen back to where it belonged, then shouted over his shoulder. The exit shouldn’t be far now.

(Yes, a shitload of time, actually. oO)

Before Faye could even smile back, the door was already open. She rushed through it and stumbled on her feet towards the next door, this time a double one. Mimicking what Hugh had done before, she dragged it open and the bright light hit her eyes. The noise outside was alarming and all the things she could smell amazed her.

The girl let the door crash back before looking towards Hugh, demanding explanations. Her least thought were the alarms and the bright red lights now, as all she wanted was to know if that was what she called out.

This wasn't part of his carefully crafted plan. But Hugh didn't even have time to act as the girl rushed past him toward the large double door. He had read the document. He knew better than exposing her to the outside world that fast. Wasting to time, he quickly moved to her, noticing her confused gaze before throwing his white lab coat around her shoulders.

“Okay...This is sudden i know. But i need you to calm down. Don’t have to trust me. Just calm down first. Like this”- He placed his thumb over her left eye, gestured her to close her eyes. Worked ever time for him. After a few seconds, he gently placed a hand on her arm and led her along the sidewalk. No sight of the guards yet. Good. Which meant the lockdown was still in effect. His car was just a few alley away. Once they got there, he would take them to the dock and board a ship to get out of this city.

Faye looked around her as she struggled to walk on the street. There were so many things around her to observe that she didn't even notice how barefoot and almost naked she was. She admired the beauty of every single thing around her, walking as fast as Hugh had rushed her.

When they reached his car, the girl took a step back, frightened. It made weirder noises than the others now that she was closer to it.
