    North by Magical North

Linda Coal was a warrior queen if there ever was an example. She had raised three children while being a loving woman and maintained a highly successful business. The only down side her family could think of was that she was a worrier. To which she would always respond. ‘No dear it is pronounced mom.’ All the same to her children the worry and concern can be embarrassing. “Now you remembered to tell your teachers that you are coming home for the family reunion right?” Linda said to her oldest son Devin.

“Yes mom for the fifth time since we got in the car. Yes, I told you confirmation is different in the magical world. They don’t have … normal letters.” Devin said with a nearly perfect impression of a high school senior talking to his mother. The two were driving Devin to school for the seventh and now final time. It had become somewhat of a tradition of the Coal’s to drive Devin to his alternative school, and while his parents embarrassed him to no end Devin still loved the drive. While most took the gondola ride through the mountains he enjoyed the winding road and beautiful scenery from the ground just as much as he did from the suspended car on the gondola.

“You know how important this is to everyone so please make sure to pack your nice clothes. No robes though. I don’t want to have to explain why my son is dressed like a renaissance fair goer again.” Linda started to laugh as she remembered the last time her son had rushed home after graduation. Everyone was so happy they forgot to make him change until half way through the family dinner Devin spilled his drink after a rather hearty clink of his glass during a toast. All the same she loved Devin and the school made him happy. So driving him there was always a treat.

The rest of the drive was spent talking about the normal mother son topics. School, responsibility, and among other things friends and girlfriends were all discussed at various lengths. When they reached the end of the road an old sign said Road End. This was where Devin had been dropped off for years. Him and his mother knew there was far more than meets the eye but for a normal person this was just a dead end on the side of a mountain. “Bye mom.” Devin said giving his mom a kiss on the cheek.

“Bye sweetie!” Linda shouted back. And with those words the two parted. Devin made his way past the sign and then found the old nearly dead tree a few steps back. Pushing up one branch and then another he waited as the tree started to shake and ten finally a single large pinecone fell to the ground. Taking a deep breath Devin touched the pineapple and then went for a ride. The pineapple was a portkey that took him to the other side of the mountain. He landed with the grace of someone who had plenty of experience using a portkey and after his feet hit the ground he started walking towards the massive institute known as The North American Magical Academy. It’s progressive name definitely didn’t match the architecture of the place, but take it all in and even after six years Devin couldn’t get enough of what stood before him.

Ahead of him was the gondola area where all the other students were getting off. The ride was about 2 hours long and while a rather large ride and facility the whole thing was camouflaged as old power lines. Not that there was any real chance of a normal person finding anything. All the hikes had been set with a charm that made every hiker lose their map and somehow find themselves back at the tail parking lot. Seeing a group of his friends Devin trotted up to them and started catching up as they all walked up to the grand gateway.

Well. Here it was. The North American Magical Academy. The name certainly didn't have the magical ring to it that Hogwarts had had, that was for sure. It was so... formal. That was probably the exact reason her father had been drawn to it. The man was always looking for result, rather than hanging on to sentiment. No doubt, NAMA (as she had already shortened it to in her mind) would fit that bill.

Liv wasn't sure how she felt about the move, herself. She had liked it at Hogwarts. The castle was nice, the teachers friendly -at least, the vast majority-, and there was always something going on. Not to mention, Hogwarts was where her friends were. To be ripped away in her last year, well, it was almost verging on cruel. She had her N.E.W.T.s coming up at the end of the year. As if that wasn't time-consuming enough, she now had to get settled in a whole new environment. Really, she didn't understand why she had had to change, but from what she had grasped, it was something to do with some issue between her father, and Dumbledore. Really, she didn't even understand what the big deal was, but her father hadn't explained much.

He stood beside her right now, where they had travelled to the school together. As a new student to the Academy in the 7th year, there were a few matters that needed to be arranged with the head of the school to get things rolling smoothly. Liv genuinely hoped she wouldn't have to get sorted amongst all the first years. How stupid would that look? The one 17-year old entering the hallway along with a horde of ten-year-olds, waiting to get sorted. If things were anything like Hogwarts, anyway. Really, she wasn't sure how things worked at the North American Magical Academy. In her denial of the move -the girl being ever so reluctant to go to a new school-, she had refused to look up anything about her new “home” for the year. But, denial didn't change what her father had dictated, and standing at the gates of the new school, it was clear she would not be returning to the Ravenclaw commons this year.

They had arrived at the edge of the schoolgrounds through a portkey, arranged by her father. With his connections within the Ministry, it had been all too easy to gain clearance for it. From there on, they had met up with the caretaker to go straight to the head of the school, before the ceremonies started.

Part of her was embarrassed that her father was escorting her. Really, nobody showed up with parents! But, the circumstances were different for her. After all, normally, students came here in their first year, got settled amongst their peers, and learned the ways of the academy from there on. She came in on the last year, a rather unusual thing. Transfers didn't happen all that often. She certainly hadn't noticed it ever happening at Hogwarts.

The castle looked nice, though. She had been somewhat relieved to find that the Academy was in a similar setting as Hogwarts. With the rather straight-forward name, she had expected something perhaps a bit more “modern”, though she wasn't sure exactly what she had imagined to that, either. Muggle-born wizards always went on how their schools were often mere square boxes of concrete. She thanked the heavens that wasn't the case. She'd have hated it.

“Looking forward to your fresh start?” Pius spoke beside her, giving his daughter a slight smile. Liv had always thought his smiles were peculiar. His lips always remained in a thin, straight line, merely tipping slightly in one corner. He didn't smile often, either. He was a rather serious man.

She forced a smile of her own. “I'm sure it'll be... interesting.” she muttered, her voice more perky than she truly felt. Really, the answer was a heavy, resounding “no. No way.” She kept that thought to herself, though. Her father had enough on his mind. Even though she wouldn't pry -nor would prying ever get her anyway-, she knew there was something big going on in the ministry. Something grave. Of course, her father wouldn't speak about it, or give her any clue as to what it was, but judging by the way he came home, tired, weary and looking drained, she was sure it was something big. Something serious. But, until it was resolved, she knew her father wouldn't tell her anything about it. And truthfully, she wasn't sure if she wanted to know. There were other matters on her mind.

As he passed through the Grand Gateway with a group of friends Devin saw the standard sights and sounds that came with the first day back. A large board was in the center of the court yard with a giant list written on it. The list had ever students name along with a small box. The box told the student where they would be living this year. With the roommate system seemingly based off the same system of college dorm assignments it was not difficult to find out who your roommate was. Thankfully student working towards their NEWTS didn’t have roommates. Instead they were spaced out among the younger students and acted as Resident Advisors.

Within the Academy there were five main groups of students. Similar to fraternities these different groups would invite second year students to join them. To get invited a student would normally have to pledge their second semester of their first year. The five houses had their own house leader who was often times a professor as well as different internal positions held by students. A student house president was always a NEWT level student with the other positions filled by 4th and 5th year students normally. The five different groups each had their own bitter rivalry and were often at odds with each other in mostly harmless competition.

The five houses were Water, Earth, Sky, Wood, & Fire. The values held within each house are more or less social groups, but each has their own internal value system. Wood values the academic and has a tree of knowledge as its mascot. Earth values the strong and holds a mountain as its mascot. Sky values wanderlust and has a bird as its mascot. Fire values passion and has a giant bonfire as its mascot. Water values tradition with its mascot being the salmon.

Each house was out in force since the first few days are the best to find and recruit first years into wanting to join a house. Every few years a student becomes a prize to one house by winning them over after another house was trying to bring them to their own house. Still it wasn’t uncommon for a student to change their mind once or twice. The biggest rivalries are between Fire & Sky as well as Wood & Water. Though sports, school, and anything else these groups will likely become highly competitive. Most of the time it is in good fun, but some years have seen prank wars that reached nearly biblical proportion. Granted those years seemed to be more common since Devin arrived, but he wasn’t the only reason after all trouble always comes in twos.

A member of Sky Devin seemed to float from group to group like a social butterfly. His easy going personality seemed to draw people in. As a member of sky it would have been normal to have few friends from earth, but in his case Devin was friends with nearly all members of earth save their president, but that was a whole different story. All the same Devin was a deeply loved member of the student body. So it was no surprise that he saw he had been selected as the transfer student go between. Having gotten a letter informing him that there was a late year transfer student who would likely require some hand holding as she got used to the new school.

Walking down and along the walkway towards the east wing he reached the sky dorms where his room was. Throwing his small bags on his bed and seeing his larger luggage had already been brought up he walked the hall and said hello to his old friends and classmates as he made his way towards the administration hall in the north part of campus. He reached the main office where the headmaster and several tenured professors would meet for school meetings.

“I'm sure you'll love it here” Pius Thicknesse continued speaking to his daughter, seemingly oblivious to her less than genuine interest. “You no longer have to share dorms. They've got rooming down differently, here. You'll be getting a room all to yourself. So, you'll get some good, uninterrupted sleep!”

“Great.” She smiled, though her eyes rolled slightly. Though the privacy of an own room would be nice, she hadn't exactly disliked the dorms. There was a nice camaraderie within them. She had been close friends with the few girls she had shared a room with back at Hogwarts. Of course, the downside to that was that some nights, they'd chat until the late hours about all kinds of things, giggling until near dawn. Something like that wouldn't happen here, it would seem.

A slight sigh escaped her lips. It looked like she was up for one hell of a change. Everything was so different. So much to get used to. And, worst of all, none of her friends would be there. This was a journey she would be taking all on her own. Why couldn't she just finish her last year at Hogwarts? She just didn't understand the point of moving just for the last year. Yet, her father had been adamant. He insisted she'd switch, but he would not give her a reason. In the end, she had stopped asking after he had burst out in anger, declaring she was to go, and that was it. End of discussion.

“You'll notice it's a lot more progressive over here.” He then added, that odd smile of his still drawn on his lips, though his eyes remained dark. They had been for months now. Liv knew something was bothering him and she figured it was something work-related, but that was her best guess. She knew better than to ask. Her father was a secretive man. “Better the feet slip than the tongue.” was a quote he seemed to mutter quite often, whenever she'd enquire why he'd not tell her something. He certainly was tight-lipped about anything work-related. Didn't want to risk letting out Ministry secrets. “Loose lips sink ships”, or whatnot. It was amazing the amount of sayings he had at hand to drive his point home.

“Well, here it is.” Her father spoke as they came to a halt. Glancing up, she found herself standing before a door, a small plaque upon it declaring it to be the main office, where they were to meet up with the headmaster. She had barely even realised they had wandered that far into the castle already, as lost in thought as she had been. She hadn't really paid any attention to her surroundings on her whole trip there. It was almost a miracle that she hadn't stumbled over something, or walked into some object.

Her father rapped his knuckles over the door, three brief knocks sounding as hand hit wood. Moments later, he stepped in, the man not waiting for an answer. He hardly ever did. Back home, Liv had become used to the way he'd barge in almost completely unannounced, his knocks always followed by a direct invasion. She'd had learned to anticipate his arrivals, had placed certain triggers along their hallway when she wished for privacy, so she would be alerted of his presence before he barged in through the door. There were certain things she didn't wish for him to see.

“Come on, now Liv. Don't keep everyone waiting.” Her father spoke as he held the door open for her, a slight impatient twitch crossing his lip. Forcing a slight smile, she gave a slight nod, following the man in, the door soon falling shut behind her.

The room was large with a rather striking solid oak table in the middle. To the right was a wall made completely of glass exposing a fantastic view of the valley that stretched out below. The other walls were filled with art of important people. Many were easily recognized as they made appearances in their other paintings throughout the school. The entire room was brought together with a well places and fantastic smokeless fire set in the middle of the table. Controlled with magic the fire burnt steady, but didn’t spread.

Devin was sitting at the table facing the class wall while the schools headmaster, Professor Decker, was standing near the far wall talking quietly to one of the paintings. The two had finished explaining what would be required of Devin to help with the transfer student. Mostly it was the Professor asking for him to give a tour and be ready to answer questions, but the fact that he was also possibly going to have to help her enter a group was a little perplexing. Still if there was a word to describe the way Decker went about things perplexing was definitely the words most commonly used.

Even as the knock was heard Devin got a slight shock as the doors to the room swung open in a somewhat violent action considering how loud the knocks were. The older student and Professor looked over to see a man walk in with a young woman following behind him. “Hello Pius, how are you dear fellow?” Professor Decker said with a giant grin. The two men shook hands and exchanged mild pleasantries. Pius then stepped back and introduced his daughter to the headmaster who gave a gentle smile and a warm welcome.

“While not my own I do have a young man I would like to introduce to the two of you. He is a 7th year student just like you Miss. Eluvianna.” At this point Devin stood up and started walking over to the group. “This is Devin Coal and he has volunteered to help you get around the school for the first few days. If you have any questions it is more likely he will know the answer than any of the professors.” Decker started to laugh at his own joke for a moment before continuing. “So Pius what say we leave these two to their own work and take our talk into my office?”

Liv followed at a slight distance as her father entered the room, the man soon exchanging pleasantries with what appeared to be the headmaster. Even there, the differences with Hogwarts were striking. Where Dumbledore had often appeared as a rather old, maybe even raggedly dressed man, Decker was much more formally dressed. The room itself was nothing like anything at Hogwarts, either, large windows allowing the light to flood the room, making the smoke-less fire almost unnecessary for any purpose but decoration. Still, she had to admit, it did look nice, and its warm glow did keep the room pleasantly heated.

Her father motioned her forward, introducing her to the headmaster by that dreadful moniker he and her mother had saddled her with by birth. Eluvianna. She gave a polite smile, mumbling some words of thanks as she was welcomed to the school.

“Pleasure to meet you.” She spoke politely to the boy as he was introduced to her, hazel eyes scanning over his features. He looked like a nice enough guy, if appearances were anything to judge character by.

“Al right then, Eluvianna. I trust you'll be al right in the care of this young man?” Pius spoke as the headmaster suggested for the two men to return to his office. At that, she nodded slightly. It wasn't really like she had that much of a choice, any way. Either way, her father would leave her behind to get settled. He wasn't one to coddle. Not that she wanted to be coddled, any way. She was old and mature enough to deal with this on her own.

“Of course, father.” She spoke, still forcing that slight smile of hers. She was certain she would be fine. It wasn't really that big a deal, transferring to a whole new school, on her own... Well, perhaps it was. It certainly felt like it, anyway. But, she wasn't going to be a little crybaby clinging to her father to hold her hand throughout the year. She was bigger than that. Even if she hadn't really wanted to come here, she would adapt. Reluctantly.

“Good. Good.” Pius muttered, already distracted as he turned to the headmaster, waiting for the man to gather any required items before they would make the trek to where-ever the headmaster's office was. Liv was sure she'd learn where that was in good time, though she doubted it was something she really needed to know. She didn't plan on spending any time there. After all, wasn't the headmaster's office the kind of place where you'd go when you were in serious trouble?

“So... Where to start?” She spoke with a slight awkward laugh as she was left alone with the black-haired boy, a hand moving to tuck a stubborn strand of blond hair behind her ear. It seemed the slick lock of hair always escaped any constraints she tried to stick it back with. Almost the moment that she had tucked it, it almost instantly fell back in her face again.

With the two adults gone the atmosphere between Devin and the girl named Eluvianna became similar to those awkward first date moments where no one talks. Devin's hand moved to the back of his neck as he looked down and gave it a sort of massage rub. It was a classic nervous tick of his that was rare, but a common tell of his. He laughed along with the girl who asked where a good place to start would be. He leaned against the back of a large chair and crossed his arms. Looking out the side wall and down onto the scene below he started to think about how to answer the question. "Well I suspect you would like to know where you will be living. Room I mean, but since you are a transfer it might be best to just say you have already been recruited."

As he continued to think aloud until he saw that what he was saying was somewhat confusing to the woman. He waved his hands and started to shake his head. "You don't have to worry about that right now so lets just get you settled. We can go down to the courtyard and see if they have you assigned or if you are going to need to go by the admissions office." Devin walked over towards the door and opened it. He waited for the woman to exit the room and then closed the door. The two started to walk down the hallway with Devin's voice echoing slightly.

"So seventh year transfer..." He then paused and thought about what would be best to say. "Couldn't pick a better school if you had to do it. We got a lot of stuff going us here that I think you are going to like. Well, at least we have fun here." They turned the corner and started to see the outer terrace of the professors office area where they just were. "Academically I figure Hogwarts is mostly the same. We get our scheduled tomorrow with our books later in the day. You shouldn't have to worry to much since you are going for your NEWTs, but the tutor system is different I think. Some people said we may be the only school that has it as a mandatory part of post OWL education. Again I'll talk to you about this later."

The two were now walking down the stairs and nearing the north entrance to the court yard. Walking though the archway and seeing the massive group of students still walking around and chatting by the room assignments and gathering area. When he was spotted by a few friends they started to walk over and share a few pleasant words. Devin did the respectable thing and introduced Eluvianna to them then told them they were a little busy and that they should be looking and helping the first years. The small group snapped up and started to head back towards the room chat area with them. "You just watch out for Sarah, Devin. Last I heard near the gondola she still has a chip on her shoulder from last year." Another student added to this by saying. "And basically every year before that."

“Yeah, I guess that would be good to know.” Liv spoke with a slight laugh. It probably was. It would be good to know where she would be sleeping. And living. Still, she wasn't sure what he meant by saying she was already “recruited”. What the hell did he mean by that? Recruited for what? By who?

Before she could ask the question, though, the boy waved it away, as if he knew what through was passing through her mind. “Okay...” she muttered, a little bit unsure, but trusting him that it was indeed not important for now. It could wait until later. It probably was best if he kept the information coming at a slow pace, as not to overwhelm her with a sudden influx of all kinds of new facts for her to remember. She was clever, but there was only so much the human brain could process at any time.

She moved towards the door as he held it open, muttering a quiet thanks as she passed through it. He joined her in the corridor not too much later, the door once again falling shut. Moments later, they were on their way. This time, Liv did try to pay some attention to which way the corridors twisted and turns, and which routes to take. After all, the last thing she wanted was to get lost in the castle. Hell, even Hogwarts still had its confusing nooks and crannies were one could easily get lost if they didn't pay much attention. That was the thing with castles. They could be complete mazes from the inside. Hopefully, she would learn to find her way around the academy soon enough.

“To be honest, I would've preferred to just finish my last year at Hogwarts. Transferring in the seventh year is such a hassle. I mean, I've got N.E.W.T.s coming up and all sorts of stuff to deal with, so really, it's the last thing I need.” She shrugged, adding a slight shrug to the end. Really, she didn't want to come over as a whiner, but truth was, her heart wasn't in the change of school. Already, she missed her friends. She had had a life at Hogwarts. Here, she had to start all over again.

“But. I guess this place is as good as any.” She shrugged. “It looks nice enough.”

The hallways made way for the courtyard, where the rays of the sun illuminated the stone and grass. People were gathered all around a large board, upon which information of some sort was displayed. Almost the instant they appeared outside, they were greeted by a couple of others. Or, more precisely, Devin was greeted by his friends, and he introduced them to her. She offered polite greetings, though she did hang back a bit as pleasantries were exchanged, not wanting to bud in as they reunited. Luckily, Devin didn't take too long to explain that he was a bit busy, his friends soon dispersing once again, leaving the two of them once again on their own.

“So, I guess Sarah isn't a friend of yours?” She spoke dryly, an eyebrow slightly raised at the somewhat odd turn the conversation had taken.

When the word friend and Sarah were put in the same sentence Devin couldn't help but start to laugh. "I think someone said something along the lines of her being a force of nature actually. It has been widely believed that if she wanted she could be nice, but the right situation hasn't come up." As Devin talked it was clear her was not being serious. More like a playful quip conversation than anything else. Still there was no shortness of history between Devin and Sarah. A rivalry was the best way to mark it and it had been so since the first day they came to school. A series of events and a few bad timings had made what had once been a pretty healthy little competition had started to turn ugly and as such Devin had started to try and avoid it.

"Anyway it isn't something we need to get into. What we do need to talk about is how you are going to get to your first class." Devin said. He had looked up at the board and saw that Liv had been assigned to the Fire group living quarters. He let out a heavy sigh and couldn't help, but suspect that things could get a little messy. Still it was involving someone out of the whole thing so the fire group should understand that. At least Devin hoped they did. "Well the fire area is nice in the winter so you don't have to worry about being cold. Still they are kind of far away from the classrooms so we will have to find someone around there that can help you map out your morning route. Shouldn't be too difficult." Continuing to look along the line with her name on it Devin cracked a smile and saw a fun fact. "Looks like we are also teaching a class together. Application of Magic 3/4th year."

Devin wasn't sure if the transfer know what that meant, but he remembered it being in the information packets sent to everyone before classes. Liv looked smart enough to have gotten it and read though so he just continued on his way with talking about other things. "So if I remember Hogwarts is broken into four houses or something like that. I guess you could say we have a similar system; however, there isn't actually any sort of sorting. Remember how I said to tell people you are already recruited? Well that means one of the groups has convinced you to join their group. Here we have Fire, Water, Earth, Sky, and Wood. You tend to see similar personalities go to the same groups, but that said it is completely up to you where you end up. Being a seventh year is pretty big since it means you vote for all major student body issues." Devin stopped

"Already seeing who you can hook this year Devin?" A woman's voice shouted. A few people around the chart went silent as everyone turned to see who was making all the noise. Devin; however, didn't have to turn to see since he already knew. As others looked they saw a strikingly beautiful blonde standing in a very strong stance. Sara

"Hey Sara." He said while turning. No surprise to him he saw Sara standing tall with a few of her normal friends. She had a look which matched her fire groups bonfire and had a seemingly upset tone in her voice. "Just giving out some orientation to the new transfer. Sure you remember the notice we got..." Devin was cut short by Sara who began to talk again.

"Yes, Devin I know. What I don't know is why you were asked to show her around. As you can see she is living across the hall from me." Sara had crossed her arms and started to look like she was thinking then after something came to her she walked forward and walked right up to Devin who started to look away while she spoke to him in a lecturing voice. "Just remember that it was Fire who ended up with the Student Cup last year and it is going to stay that way this year." Her tone had gotten softer, but her eyes were still burning. Sara then turned to Liv. "Welcome to the North American Magic Academy. We call it home and we welcome you."

Devin saw that Sara didn't introduce yourself and was confused until she looked over at him and then saw what it is she was expecting. He rolled his eyes a little and smiled. "Sara I would like you to meet the new transfer student Liv. Liv I would like you to meet Sara. She is the student president of the Fire group and as it turns out your new roommate." The group of students surrounding the little scene had started to lose interest when the conversation become more mild and soon enough people were back to their normal self.

[Just so you know I am not wanting Sara to be seen as a bitch or Malfoy like character. She is more just upset at Devin and her character will be a rather nice person. Still this will be interesting to see how Liv reacts. Just wanted to add this little bit of OOC so we don't instantly make her a evil bitch lol]

Devin's reply skirted around an actual answer, declaring the girl in question to be “a force of nature”. Exactly what he meant with that, she wasn't entirely sure, but she took it as a confirmation that they weren't on the friendliest of terms. The latter part of his statement certainly seemed to angle at that, the way he stated that the girl could be nice if she wanted to, but that it was yet to happen. Obviously, he wasn't the biggest fan of her. And, given the fact Devin was warned about her, she obviously wasn't a fan of him, either. So, what was she to him? An ex, perhaps? Not that it really mattered, it was none of her business.

Devin came to that same conclusion almost the same moment that thought occurred to her, stating to her that it wasn't something they needed to get into. Message received: it was none of her business. She shrugged, turning her eyes to the board to study it, as he did. Spotting her name, she soon found where she was located, while Devin offered information.

“Wait. We're supposed to be teaching? What the hell.” She spoke in confusion as Devin stated that they were supposed to teach Application of Magic to 3th and 4th years. What the hell indeed? She was in her last year of study, had to focus on her N.E.W.T.s, and the Academy demanded she'd use some of her precious and little time to teach younger students a subject a teacher surely would make a better job off? It made no sense to her. Such non-sense would never fly at Hogwarts. The school employed teachers for a reason. There was no way they'd make students do a teacher's job. It was insanity. She wondered if her father was aware of the strange way the school dealt with its students. Surely it couldn't be right. She'd probably heard it wrong, or something. Had to be.

“You know, I'm not sure if it's even worth joining a group for just one year. Not like I'm going to be around long enough.” She shrugged. Really, considering dorms weren't connected to houses at all, what reason really was there to pick one above the other? And frankly, if she truly had to teach class, she wasn't sure if she wanted to waste time picking.

Before an answer could be given, a voice cut through the courtyard, belonging to a rather miffed-looking blond. At those words, Liv's brow piqued up in an arch.

“Excuse me?” She muttered, not entirely all too pleased by the girl's suggestion she'd be a potential hook-up for Devin. Did she look that easy, that she'd just hook up with the first guy who'd cross her path? The two spoke -or perhaps, bickered- slightly, before Sarah turned to Liv.

“...Thanks.” Liv offered, perhaps somewhat coolly as the girl welcomed her to the school, demeanour suddenly changed to overly friendly, as if she hadn't thrown an insult only moments before, insinuating that Liv was easy. “Nice to meet you.” She then added, politely, as Devin exchanged names in a formal introduction.

“Considering you're my roommate and student president, it really doesn't make much sense they make someone else show me around. This place makes no sense.” Liv then offered, though she wasn't entirely sure whether to be relieved about it or not. Sarah, to her, seemed rather two-faced, slipping from the offensive to acting sweet in the blink of an eye. Often, You couldn't trust people like that.
