Either way, I'm still interested and will keep an eye on this

Eh...School has finally started and I really have no idea how much homework I will be getting in the future. Posts likely will be slow.

Yeah, the giant walls of text aren't what I'd call organized ... while they get the general idea across, there's still a lot of information that seems a little confusion and it's hard to go back in the reading to try and find information. Otherwise I'm interested in seeing what the OOC looks like, but as of right now, it's sort of a chore trying to follow exactly what's going on.
Will be moving to 12-hour shifts (7 days a week) until November. Posting will be slow!
Also if I fall behind - send me a PM!

    Hi Lydyn,

As I have mentioned earlier, the RP is currently undergoing some remodelling, including the things that are in the first post as some of the things haven't been updated in 3-4 years, in order for it to be more easily understandable (that plus the plot itself was, and I'll admit it, completely rushed in order for the RP to be completed when it was created). Hopefully I'll have a chance to write the plot more coherently while I'm waiting on a couple more interests so it is more easily understandable than what has been posted.

Hello everyone, my name's Attila and Mercinus and I go way back.

I'm the one he mentioned as having first founded the steampunk technology that created this fascinating fantasy steampunk world that Gelbaron is shaping up to become. He and I worked out much of the implications that a booming industry of magic-powered steam machines are bringing to this world on levels both great and small. In this post, I'm pretty much simply confirming my involvement, interest and endorsement of this RP and the IP behind it.
Additionally, I'm also using this post to provide a definitive answer to questions posed previously by people with regards to technology. This will by no means be an exhaustive information source; that will in turn be found in the OP once all revisions and additions have been effected.

In the current time of the RP, steam machines are limited in their availability by two factors: scarcity of materials critical to the functioning of certain parts within the core of the machinery; and the difficulty in treating, handling and fabricating these materials and general parts required to assemble any device. One needs crude tools in order to build progressively more sophisticated tools. While there may be artisans that are capable of crafting certain items by manual labor, sometimes to a degree not attainable even by machined fabrication, this is a skill developed through many years and offers nothing in the way of making an item more expensive.

With these two tenets in mind, therefore, whenever one encounters an individual using some steam device, they are either:
a.) Wealthy (bounty hunters, industrialists, aristocrats)
b.) Employees of someone with sufficient wealth (military, personal guard)
c.) Crafty (able to use their intellect and savvy to create items of their own, given they can get a hold of the right materials)*

    *-bloody rare

Large cities are typically more advanced than the countryside, even though the higher population density provides a generally much lower standard of living. Slums and crime is very much a thing in cities and some have a very bad reputation. People who leave the cities tend to become bounty hunters, or (read: when) that fails; brigands.
Country towns offer a stable, more or less serene life. They have a significant output of materials, and depend on trade with the cities to sustain themselves. Some countrymen commute between the city and the country, working as tradesmen in guilds or merchants. Country towns are under the protection of whichever aristocrat happens to own them at any given time and are very much treated as a financial asset and bargaining chip in the upper echelon political game. Not only do they provide goods, but also the bulk of recruits in the army of the empire at large.

Once the RP will launch, I'll be hosting a dedicated discussion thread where, whoever has an interesting idea for an addition to the technology, can make themselves heard there.

    That's all for now!
    - Attila

By all rights, I should take a look at the interest check more often. As it is, I was pointed out the existence of the reinitiation and I still take a day before I go and confirm the fact and give sign of my existence.

But granted, I'm here, and if possible and it takes off, I'd bring back my old character. (...The one who had wings, not the one who was a freak occurrence. I don't think the forum is prepared for the latter.)

I'm glad to see another member who was in the first incarnation of the RP joining up.

When I get back from work this evening, I'll get the OC thread up with all of the information that I have done so far (there are still one or two things that I'll need to work on as well, but it's suitable for posting now) so characters can be created and, once that's done, get the RP on the road.

The OC thread is now up here. It has a link to the extra information there as well (since it is too big for the first thread).

More info on the other races that are playable would be welcome. I would like to understand them more before saying whether or not I would want a character fashioned after a different race.

There is some information about them in the link provided (though they will be updated in due course as I got the info out on the forum so people would have an idea). However, if you would like to know more about them (or a particular race that has your interest), then I'll be more than happy to elaborate on them ^^ You can also have your character be a race of your choosing (as long as it's a suitable choice for the setting) as I don't usually fancy restricting what people what their characters to be.
