    Into the Past OOC

The choice of races will be:

None are working together at this moment, but each is seeking some magical item that could alleviate their curse. Once they encounter one another they soon realise that the legends are bunk, and they have been duped. Eager to find the culprit go deeper into the forest only to encounter a sinister monster (pick Lovecraftian monster of choice), they are seeking to bring their master from the past, to the present. This all goes horribly wrong and a fight ensues during which the field is inverted and the heroes are sent into the past. To Hyperborea, and they can either take the long way home.....wait it out as immortal beings, or find a way. Cue an adventure in which they discover the sources of who, and what they are.

    Important
Firstly, forget everything you've ever learned in the VS forum. We're not ranking characters here and we're not adhering to any idea of power levels. SDs are narrative driven first and foremost, so, it doesn't matter how strong 'canon' insists that something or someone is. To explain: even if someone decides to play a Roman Centurion they are not going to get gunned down in the first conflict. Even if the group comes across a squad of pissed off Chaos Space Marines they're not going to rip half the party apart with chain-axes simply because this is not an antagonistic game between players and GM(s) where game balance and adversity is paramount. One caveat I would like people to keep in mind is that, in order for the SD to progress at a reasonable pace, the other posters must be able to understand your character and, therefore, be able to use them properly.

    History:
Born in a small town, there wasn't ever much for him to really do. He went to school, got a job at 16, his first car at 17. All in all just your average small town life, Until everything changed. One night while at a party in the woods with kids from school he went into the woods with a girl from his class, both of them "slightly" intoxicated. While fooling around in the bushes it happened, they were attacked by some sort of large monster. Jen, the girl he was with, was killed on the spot and he was left barley alive. He was rushed to the emergency room and put on life support, It was touch and go for the night. But he was soon stable, he was even recovering faster then the doctors expected. After a week he was able to leave the hospital, but had to take it easy with the stitches. While at home his healing started to go by faster, and he had also developed insomia, feeling wide awake at night and unable to sleep. Then it happened, the full moon rose into the sky and his body started to get wracked with pain. He could feel his muscles burning, bones aching as they started to break and reform. Running out of his house into the near by woods he looked at his hands as his fingers nails had grown into thick claws and his body was growing fur, and then...nothing. He woke up the next morning in surprise, naked and in the woods with the remains of, what he thought was a deer, but with so little left over it was hard to tell. He started to study werewolves in his free time, trying to figure out anyway you contain it, or even get rid of it. He started to wander the woods, looking for safe places for him to change on the night of the full moon. This is when he discovered a side effect, while climbing slipped and fell, crashing onto the rocks below. And his body started to reform, his bones popping back into place and his cuts healing. He started to test this, cutting him self and watching it heal almost instantly with out a scar, the only scar was the one from when he was attacked.

As the years went on he discovered that he could control the change, except on the full moon where he much change. The wolf was lost to him thought, uncontrollable, but it was how ever direct-able, or at least Jay believes because he has never woken up near a town, the wolf seeming to avoid people, once he even woke up in his back yard as it the wolf went there before the night would end. He learned that his condition was more manageable then the movies made it out to be, but also feared what might happen if the wolf was ever threatened by a human. He was able to keep something of a normal life, he went to collage, picking one with a large forest around it, and he even got a job as a bartender, deciding that he might as well use his insomnia for something productive, he only ask that he get every full moon off. When his employer asked him about this he simply shrugged and said he was Wiccan and the full moon was a holy event, his employer rolled his eyes at this but agreed as that was better then some of his other employees. So he started to ware a pentagram around his neck to go along with this little facade.

    Name: Anthropos

    Birthplace: The Ancient Mediterranean
    Born: 3,000 BC
    Type: A god
Likes: He likes craftsmanship, thus he and Hephaestus get along.
    Dislikes: Kinda obvious
Fears: He's afraid all the gods will be killed or die somehow in the future.
    Motivations: What motivates your character
    Personality: Key personality traits
Relatives: Are any still alive? If so, whom?
    Occupations: You may have three
    Key Skills:
Herc / Xena gods can teleport, have healing factor, and can throw energy balls,
    Powers:
Inanimate Magic: He can communicate with inanimate objects, and conjure magic based on inanimate objects. For instance, he can make those objects come alive and fight for him, and ask the ground where certain people have gone, instead of having to use tracking skills, etcetera. Things can get very weird when he placates inanimate objects to help him.
Other Magic: He can even communicate with animals.
    Immortality: He doesn't age.
    History:

Anthropos is a relatively unknown deity. He is worshiped alot in Ancient Greece but not thought of as many people's patron deity. He was born in 3,000 BC, a time when the gods were new(er). He didn't participate in the destruction of the Titans, he wasn't even around, but he has patroned a few villages, shrines and towns around the Ancient Mediterranean. Eventually most of those who worshiped him as preists and who had them as their main deity demoted him down to just an important god, but in Ancient Greece, they had alot of those. Recently he's been more depowered than ever due to some unfortunate curse, but he still has his main abilities.

Sorry dude, but you cannot have this.
Herc / Xena gods can teleport, have healing factor, and can throw energy balls, not including your domain power - which you've included.

    Name: Jason Nightwalker

    Birthplace: Montana, USA
    Born: 1956
Reborn: 1991 (as a vampire) - looks to be in his mid 30s usually
    Type: Vampire (Gary Oldman's Dracula)
Likes: the beauty and majesty of nature from forest to meadow to stars and galaxies
    Dislikes: pollution, ignorance
Fears: that the overly religious and the stupid will doom the human race, or worse, the Earth; that he will not make enough of a difference during his life – although a fairly recent change helps extend that time.
Motivations: self-sufficiency tempered with a desire to help others (who are decent)
Personality: On first meeting he seems very matter-of-fact. As you get to know him you find a depth of interests and knowledge showing he is curious and interested in learning.
Relatives: Mother, 2 uncles, 1 aunt, 7 cousins
Occupations: carpenter, plumber, architect (recent & still learning considering he researches many techniques)
Key Skills: tribal histories, tribal languages, science history, botany, mathematics (including phi & fractals)
Powers - being a fairly young vampire these powers currently take concentration and a bit of time:
    * Transform into: wolf, mass of rats (this one gets ugly when he doesn't get it right), greenish mist, werewolfish humanoid, batlike humanoid
    * Affect minds: mesmerize, invisibility, link to those he's bitten, influence/control carnivores
    * Wall crawling
    * Manipulating his own shadow to handle/move things at a short distance
    * Affect the weather (not up to controlling it yet)
    Weaknesses:
    * Transformation powers are only available at night.
    * Mental and weather powers are greatly lessened during the day.
    * Must drink blood every night to look young and be at full power.
    * Must sleep at his home location or on "native soil" to be at full power. Due to his wandering nature, he does not have a home location. But that has also changed the nature of his "native soil" to where he feels most at home, the woods, so he needs to find the richest loam in a forrest to rest in.
History: Filled with curiosity and an interest in his heritage from his youth, he kept hitting walls. Around him he saw the examples of what happens when you let the walls stop you so he decided to find ways around those blockades.
__ He found out he can not collect anything from the government for being a Native American because his ancestors travelled enough that there is little documentation of which tribes he is descended from. And that is the other problem: His most solidly known heritage is his paternal grandmother who is Mayan and left with his grandfather – he was 19 and she 16 when they met – so she could get away from the persecution by the Mexicans. [This is a fact IRL – Mexicans were (are still?) actively working to eliminate the Mayan language and culture.] He has the blood of many tribes in his veins from his heritage but not enough from any one tribe for it to be recognized.
__ Although having ancestors from many tribes makes him interested in learning what he can to try and help preserve those histories.
__ On the more practical side he learned carpentry and plumbing so he could help other Native Americans who couldn't afford to hire someone at the normal rates. And taking jobs with customers who can pay earns him a living.
__ As a hobby he studies the history of science and even reproduces some of the early experiments to see what it was like to make aspirin from willow bark or culture penicillin mold or make a solar stove.
__ In 1991 a former client of his contacted him with the offer of a job from someone over in Europe. Someone his client knew wanted just one good worker who could make a number of different improvements to his home and was willing to pay for that individual to come to Europe to do the work. He went. The new client was odd and lived in an ancient run-down castle. Jason did many repairs and some upgrades for as long as he was able. But the job seemed to just suck the life out of him. Then he awoke a new man – so to speak.
__ His client, now mentor, taught him his new abilities. His new mentor eventually told him how their powers came down to them from a rejection of God and an embrace of evil. Jason held his peace for a while learning more about his new abilities then finally told his mentor he was wrong in part. That the rejection of god was a good thing because it opened them up to nature's magic: being able to reach out to carnivores, being able to affect the weather, channeling the spirits of various animals to take their forms, influencing the minds of those blind to nature.
__ Jason shared his view that worshipping an object of torture (the cross) was obscene and should be offensive to any thinking person. And that Yahweh/Jehovah/God/Allah was a tyrant who wanted willing slaves bent to his will so all decent people should reject that perversion of godhood. His mentor having been brought up in one of those religions was shocked but some of what Jason said resonated within him. Jason stayed for a few years learning and teaching then returned to the USA.
Some of his struggles to fix up the castle prompted him to learn about architecture. He has the basics down but keeps trying to study a wide variety of architectures.
    .
Please let me know if this is too much in any area. Or if I need to provide more explanation. I left things vague about the mentor since I figured you'd want to decide what he's like.

I don't suppose I can join this as Doctor Emmett Brown looking for 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to power my flux capacitor?

    Great Scott!
