Luxumbrae Academy OOC

Docendo Discimus. Peering at the wrought iron gates--just tall enough to prevent anybody from climbing over--through the rain, you can just barely make out these words of a foreign tongue. You are a new student to Luxumbrae Academy. You push a button labeled 'call' on the security panel attached to a wall next to the gate. It's sheltered by a small metal covering. The gate itself is padlocked, and there's no way you can get in without unlocking the lock, not with your suitcases. The speakers crackle, startling you, and the voice of a woman is suddenly audible.
"Hello," the voice says, "How may I be of assistance to you?"
"Uh.. I received a letter telling me to come to this address today a week ago," you answer nervously. Maybe you've got the wrong address?
A contraption sitting on top of the gates whirs to life, telling you it's a security camera of sorts.
"Alright. We will just be a moment. Please wait there patiently," the woman's voice comes again.
So you sit on your luggage and wait for someone to come. Suddenly, there's the sound of clopping hooves. You look up and see an interesting sight--a horse-drawn carriage heading towards you. A man is driving it, and when he arrives at the gate, he stops the carriage and jumps off. Pulling out a key from his pocket, he unlocks the gate and ushers you in, picking up your luggage and putting it in the vehicle. He locks the gate behind you and helps you up into the carriage after your belongings. You assume he's gotten on, too, since the carriage starts moving. After what seems like half an hour of clattering over a cobblestone path, you stop and are helped out by the man. Your luggage, you're told, will be sent to your dorm. The dorms appear to be the two large buildings off to the right of the main building.
"Head straight ahead and go inside," the man says gruffly. You do as you're told and, pulling open the grand doors, find yourself in a huge building--larger than the dorms--with three floors, a domed room, and marble floors. A woman with wavy shoulder-length amber hair and matching eyes sitting behind a large desk (everything seems to be large here) stands up and comes out from behind her desk.
"Hello. You must be the new student," she says warmly. Her plaque reads “Miss Jane Palmer, Secretary”. You notice that her voice sounds the same as the one from the speaker outside. Putting her arm around your shoulders, she guides you to a closed door. Another golden plaque informs you that this is the office of “Miss Elizabeth Hampton, Headmistress”. Miss Palmer raps softly on the door. The door opens, and you see that Miss Hampton, who has dark brown hair tied in a bun and black eyes, is wearing an apricot-colored, one-shouldered form-fitting dress.
“Good morning. Please call me Miss Elizabeth,” she says in a no-nonsense tone. Pulling open the door so that you can enter, she nods to Miss Palmer, who nods in return and exits. Miss Elizabeth shuts the door and motions for you to sit at the chair facing hers. Once you sit down, she does the same. She slides a thin packet of papers over to your side of the table. You notice that her nails are perfectly manicured and painted with French tips.
“This is a map of the school grounds,” she says, pointing to the first page. She flips the map over to the side.
As she points to the second, she tells you, “This is a map to the girls’ dorm.”
She continues to flip through the last three pages of the packet and says in turn, “These are a few contact numbers, a list of electives you can take, and this is your schedule.” Handing you a key, she adds, “This is your key. Do not lose it.”
A knock comes from the door. “Come in,” the principal says. A tall boy with sandy blond hair and blue eyes comes in and smiles at you.
“This is Tristan,” Miss Elizabeth says. “He’ll show you around the school. The rain’s stopped now.” You nod at her and stand up, taking the papers and key, and follow Tristan outside of the office.
“This is the main school building. Over there—“ he points to a row of rooms along the back wall, “is the 100 wing. Those are math classrooms and the storage room and teachers' lounge. Mr. Ramirez doesn't have math 3rd period, 'cuz that's when Ms. White, the art teacher, uses his classroom. That hallway connects to the cafeteria. Upstairs, on the second and third floors, are the 200 and 300 wings, respectively. The 200 wing is Language Arts, or English, and the Foreign Language classrooms. The 300 wing is History and Science.”
He leads you outside into the chilly weather, though the rain has stopped, like Miss Elizabeth had said. “Over there are the gym, auditorium, and other elective classrooms,” he says, pointing to the left of the main building.
“And of course, the dorms. The girls’ building is on the left and the boys’ building is on the right. You’ll have a roommate, too,” he finishes. “Oh, wait. Behind the main building are the stables where they keep horses. If you’ve had previous experience, you can take horseback riding after school. And beyond the buildings,” he says, gesturing to all the grass areas and forest on the eastern side of the campus, “are places you can hang out with your friends. They’re all part of the campus. We even have a private beach, over looked by a cliff on the north side. There’s a small path leading there. You’ll know when you’re not on campus anymore.” To this, he adds a sly smile. You absorb all this information silently, then thank him and return the smile. Tristan leads you to you dorm, then with a final smile and wave, heads to his own dorm.

This is where you start in the IC—heading into your dorm. Of course, you can start a little before. Two people share a dorm, and no you can not request the person, since you don’t know anybody at the Academy.

1. ABSOLUTELY no godmodding, powerplaying, or Mary-Sues. Basically, no being invincible, knowing everything, controlling other characters, or being flawless and perfect.
2. The students at this school are hardworking, obedient students who don’t cut class. At least during school time. I don’t care what you’re like after school, but you need to do your homework and come to all classes.
3. You can make NPCs, I just ask that you make a CS for them. You don’t need to fill out things that aren’t important, like crush/bf/gf unless that’s why they’re involved in the story.
4. Text talk is NOT allowed in character. In OOC, yes, it is allowed.
5. You are allowed to talk OOC in the IC as long as it is in parentheses, as long as it has to do with the RP. If it has nothing to do with the RP, please talk in the OOC.
6. Mature scenes are allowed, but if there’s sex scenes, do a minor time jump for your characters till the end OR take it to PMs.
7. I am the GM. I may appoint a 2nd in command, but my word is law.
8. You must use the CS format given, otherwise you will not be accepted. If I merely say “not accepted” to you without suggestions, that means I don’t like your CS. If I give you suggestions, feel free to fix it and then resubmit, but if not, then please don’t keep submitting CSes.
9. If your character doesn’t have previous experience in music but they take Orchestra/Band, they are required to come to practice every day after school.
10. Please don’t destroy the school or defile any part of it. Otherwise I’ll kick you out.
11. Don’t kill a character off without permission of the player.
12. To be Chosen you MUST be a First Year. Later on I might allow you to make upper year Chosens, but for now, only me and a co-GM (possibly) are allowed to make characters (including NPCs) that are Chosen already, so we can guide our and everyone else’s characters once they are Chosen. *You ARE allowed to create upper year non-Chosens, though.

Each dorm building has on the first floor:
-A main common room with:
~3 long sofas and a flatscreen TV on the wall;these 4 objects form a square together
~A small coffee table in the middle of the 'square'
-A kitchen that has:
~A sink, large refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, countertop toaster, brewer, blender, and pantry. The pantry and fridge are both stocked with some good stuff. There's also the utensils and plates/bowls/cups/dishes/etc. Basically, whatever you need to have a meal.
-A sparkling clean bathroom with 4 stalls, marble walls and floors, and 4 sinks
There are also stairs and an elevator.
Each dorm room has:
-2 comfortable beds on either long side of the room
-Carpeted floors
-2 desks with pencil holders, drawers--stocked, with a swivel chair
-A mirror on the back of the door
-A closet separated into 2
-A window on the wall without a bed, with white curtains
-A phone on the wall next to the door
*You will find a jacket and pin uniform on each bed in every dorm room, with a note: "Please wear these to class starting Monday. If you do not wear the jacket, wear the pin. If you don't wear the pin, wear the jacket."

-There are breaks in April, the summer, over Thanksgiving, and December.
-I don’t care how many characters as long as you can keep track of them all.
-Please use a hider for pictures. Let me know if you need to know how to make a hider.
-There are school ‘uniforms’, but they’re a jacket and pin. The jacket has ‘Docendo Discimus’ written on it in fancy letters with a gryphon sitting proudly under it. The pin has a smaller version of the image. When you don’t wear the jacket, you have to wear the pin.
-All your stuff is kept in your dorm. No lockers.
-People are Chosen because they can see the tower from which the ritual is performed.
-The Chosen Ones go enter the Gateway once a weekend to train.
-Type ‘EbonyNightmare is the GM of this RP and her word is law’ if you have read everything.

Tristan is fun guy to be around. He’s kind, outgoing, and funny. He’s responsible, though, and keeps his promises. He respects the fact that everyone has emotions and problems, even if they don’t seem like it. Tristan is also willing to try new stuff all the time and is a daredevil.
History (before coming to Luxumbrae) :
Tristan is the youngest of three siblings. He has an older sister and older brother, who like him, loved surfing since they were born. They weren’t like the siblings his friends complained about, though. They were nice to him and helped him with whatever he needed help with. Sure, they sometimes got annoyed with him, but they weren’t constantly snarky and mean to him. But his older sister left for college, and then his brother died in a car accident—at least that’s what everyone thought. Upon coming to Luxumbrae Academy, he found out that his brother’d been killed when he’d jumped into the Gateway. There were demons waiting for them, and the professors and Miss Elizabeth, who’d guided the students up to the Gateway, closed the portal they’d made so that no one else would get killed. (The portal they made is how they get to the Gateway. Closing the portal does not seal the Gateway—they’re 2 separate things.)
Experience at School:
He spends a lot of time surfing either by himself or with some friends. He’s made a good deal of friends here and finds the school more appealing than some do.
Strengths/Skills:
Tristan is a surfing pro. He’s smart and has a near-perfect GPA.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Responsible though he may be, he likes to procrastinate and hates doing homework. He often has to stay up late to finish homework he didn’t want to do earlier.

Felix is sarcastic and quick to anger as well as criticize. She also has a sharp tongue with a mind and wit to match. She’s often the first person to make a witty remark—however, she is serious and realizes what’s going on around her is real. Felix may sometimes stare off into space, due to her overactive imagination.
She resists authority and won’t do anything she’s ordered to do unless she thinks that’s the best course of action. She is more than willing to speak her mind in front of others and won’t back down, especially when she believes in something.
Finally, Felix is amazing at keeping her mouth sealed when it comes to secrets. If you haven’t betrayed her, she won’t ever spill a secret of yours. But if you have, beware. She’s not below blackmailing people by threatening to reveal their secrets to the world.
History (before coming to Luxumbrae) :
She grew up with parents who were pretty average. They weren’t always nice to her, but they weren’t tyrants, either. They didn’t spoil her and valued working to earn what you need and/or want. However, her mom was killed in a car accident and the woman her father married was a witch. She hated Felix, which was clear to the 16-year-old the instant she set eyes on the woman. Felix was relieved when she received a letter from the Academy, as much as she can bitterly assume her stepmother was.
Experience at School (only for upper years) :
Strengths/Skills:
Felix is talented at music, horseback riding, acting, archery, ice skating, singing, and writing, as far as hobbies are concerned. She’s also really good at learning new languages. But other than hobbies.. She’s amazingly good at staying hidden and avoiding being seen. She’s also skilled at not revealing information and dodging questions asked.
Sometimes, strangely enough, she seems to be able to read what people are thinking through their faces and body language.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Felix can be too impulsive at times and doesn’t always take the time to think things through. It’s hard for her to concentrate on anything for too long—she always gets distracted easily, unless she’s in a fight. That seems to be the only time she can concentrate on anything.
Also, defying authority often gets her into a lot of trouble.

Victoria is a go-with-the-flow type of person and usually tries to weasel out of doing anything unnecessary. But sometimes that proves to be a challenge when curiosity kicks in and she goes to the ends of the Earth to satisfy her curiosity. She can be extremely lazy sometimes and likes sleeping, reading and lying under a tree while sleeping. Victoria keeps away noisy people and generally has no reaction to most things. She does things that are absolutely necessary like research and homework but prefers to avoid things that require extra energy.
History (before coming to Luxumbrae):
Being an only child, Victoria grew up lonely despite her parent's endless affection. To cope with her loneliness she started playing video games all day long, not even bothering to see the sun. In school, Victoria hung out with a few select people dubbed 'The Wierdoes' by the rest of her class but they ignored the names and often studied or played video games together. It continued that way for several years until her parents moved to another town. This left Victoria utterly alone at school with no friends and when her parents banned her video games for health reasons she drew into herself and refused to speak to anyone. This is mainly what caused her blank personality and although she later found another friend, she remained that way ever since.

Strengths/Skills:
Victoria is a very opinionated person who has her views on everything. She often ends up arguing with people over their clashing views and 95% of the time she wins. She’s also a very accomplished liar, although she refers to it as ‘good acting’ and is extremely good at telling whether people are lying or not. She’s also a good lock-picker but she prefers to keep that to herself. Victoria is skilled at drawing, singing, sleeping through anything and avoiding things she doesn't like doing.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Victoria’s so blind without her glasses it’s not even funny. Whenever she takes them off all she can’t see anything past half a metre. She describes it as looking into steamed-up mirror after a shower. Also, her go-with-the-flow kind of personality sometimes delays her reactions to things that are extraordinary/horrific/etc.

History (before coming to Luxumbrae) :
Tristan is the youngest of three siblings. He has an older sister and older brother, who like him, loved surfing since they were born. They weren’t like the siblings his friends complained about, though. They were nice to him and helped him with whatever he needed help with. Sure, they sometimes got annoyed with him, but they weren’t constantly snarky and mean to him. But his older sister left for college, and then his brother died in a car accident—at least that’s what everyone thought. Upon coming to Luxumbrae Academy, he found out that his brother’d been killed when he’d jumped into the Gateway. There were demons waiting for them, and the professors and Miss Elizabeth, who’d guided the students up to the Gateway, closed the portal they’d made so that no one else would get killed. (The portal they made is how they get to the Gateway. Closing the portal does not seal the Gateway—they’re 2 separate things.)
Experience at School (only for upper years) :
He spends a lot of time surfing either by himself or with some friends. He’s made a good deal of friends here and finds the school more appealing than some do.
Strengths/Skills:
Tristan is a surfing pro. He’s smart and has a near-perfect GPA.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Responsible though he may be, he likes to procrastinate and hates doing homework. He often has to stay up late to finish homework he didn’t want to do earlier.

Felix is sarcastic and quick to anger as well as criticize. She also has a sharp tongue with a mind and wit to match. She’s often the first person to make a witty remark—however, she is serious and realizes what’s going on around her is real. Felix may sometimes stare off into space, due to her overactive imagination.
She resists authority and won’t do anything she’s ordered to do unless she thinks that’s the best course of action. She is more than willing to speak her mind in front of others and won’t back down, especially when she believes in something.
Finally, Felix is amazing at keeping her mouth sealed when it comes to secrets. If you haven’t betrayed her, she won’t ever spill a secret of yours. But if you have, beware. She’s not below blackmailing people by threatening to reveal their secrets to the world.
History (before coming to Luxumbrae) :
She grew up with parents who were pretty average. They weren’t always nice to her, but they weren’t tyrants, either. They didn’t spoil her and valued working to earn what you need and/or want. However, her mom was killed in a car accident and the woman her father married was a witch. She hated Felix, which was clear to the 16-year-old the instant she set eyes on the woman. Felix was relieved when she received a letter from the Academy, as much as she can bitterly assume her stepmother was.
Experience at School (only for upper years) :
Strengths/Skills:
Felix is talented at music, horseback riding, acting, archery, ice skating, singing, and writing, as far as hobbies are concerned. She’s also really good at learning new languages. But other than hobbies.. She’s amazingly good at staying hidden and avoiding being seen. She’s also skilled at not revealing information and dodging questions asked.
Sometimes, strangely enough, she seems to be able to read what people are thinking through their faces and body language.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Felix can be too impulsive at times and doesn’t always take the time to think things through. It’s hard for her to concentrate on anything for too long—she always gets distracted easily, unless she’s in a fight. That seems to be the only time she can concentrate on anything.
Also, defying authority often gets her into a lot of trouble.
