I would be interested. However, aside from scientists, could other professions be available as long as they aren't Rambos? Perhaps, the facility's janitor?
INTRODUCTION
Yeah, I know. Zombies, the horror genre's current obsession. Adored by some, annoying for others.
I love zombies, but I can't for the life of me find a novel/game/film that truly suits what I'm looking for. They focus too much on the blood, guts, and gore part of the apocalypse and not enough on the characters. Or even what caused the whole mess. That's where I draw the line. This story will focus on the characters, the backstory, and will not have Rambo-types as lead characters.
Instead, the player characters will be biologists struggling to balance the scales of survival in their favor.
Yeah, that's right. You are a scientist, armed only with that huge brain of yours.
Working in a sub-standard environment with sub-standard gear and with incredible dangerous test subjects; we will need to balance self-preservation with scientific discovery. That means that not only will we need to survive the undead, we'll need to understand them and decode what makes them work. Will we succeed and create a vaccine? Or will we simply perish and become what we fear?
DETAILED PLOT SUMMARY:
Working as biologists in a medical firm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the players find themselves trapped when the streets become overrun with the undead. Having been left behind by their fleeing comrades, only five members remain in the labs. Barricading the access door to the stairway, the remaining survivors discover that they are cut off to the rest of the world. With the status of the lower floors unknown, the team must slowly gather knowledge in regards to the undead and survive.
However, it will not be easy.
Focus must not shift too much, otherwise the survivors will endanger themselves or their progression to a vaccine.
How does that sound? Anyone interested?
The exact detail behind the science is obvious going to be fictitious, but detailed. I don't expect anyone to speak as if they were a med school graduate, but write as if you were writing for a medical drama show. Use correct terms for body parts, and use gruesome detailing.
Also, the game will not take place only in the medical building. We will need to scavenge the surrounding areas for supplies, and travel later on.
I am looking for five people to join. This is a story that is mainly character-driven, and deals with survival aspects. I expect character development.
(A detailed floor-plan for the medical firm will be posted if there is interest.)
Seeing as you're a janitor, you have access to pretty much everywhere in the building.
Not to mention, you're the only one that has knowledge on how to disable the elevator, and you have the ability to lock the staircase access door.
...and disable the front door from automatically opening.
Sounds interesting. I'm in, if you'll take me. Can I be a medical doctor who was brought in as a kind of consultant and trapped with the rest of the scientists? This way I can contribute with my knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology towards making a cure. It's pretty late here, but I'll log on tomorrow and see if you accept me. I can have a CS within a half hour of your acceptance.
I'll join this! After reading the intro, call me crazy or a lunatic but I am intruiged how this would play out if it were a movie. Would a chemist/medlab technician be a viable character in this scenario? I mean if a doctor is someone who treats the patients, then he would be the one to make what the doctor treats them with and comes up with the test results etc. In this case, an actual scientist. Ah, expect alot of chemical jargons (and explainations) from this if he's ever asked. I am fairly new to RPG, as you can see from my ...significant number of posts. So I would not mind writing a sample in case you're wary of my literacy, in fact ...I might judge you if you don't ask me for one! :3

The both of you are accepted.
I just need one more person to be interested and the sign-up process will begin!
I'm fairly interested. But a question first. Could I perhaps be one of the security guards? It'd be interesting to be the only one in the group with firearms training. I'm not saying I'd be an OP spec-ops vet. More like a simple guard with a handgun. Probably pissed at having to babysit a bunch of eggheads.
