i have decided. I shall play a brazilian swindler and former favela boy who uses his skills to make scared people surrender money. a medium and a extortionist. a Extortixist. Totally a word.
It depends really, so far there's the people who've posted here and Mr Odin who's been keeping in touch but two others put their interest the check and I think two more is as many as I'd like to have. So what'll do is message them again for first refusal and if they don't get in touch I'll let you know.
This is something I need to add to the OP but the overall plot will be the emrgence of more malevolent ghosts which will have further reaching consequences. Now how things will start out I think ties into this too, so I had the not entirely original idea of Lance arranging a dinner where he's going to try and organise them as best as he can.

Character Sheet
Name: Samuel Klein
Age: 46
Appearance: Samuel is an older man with dark skin and brown hair. His hair, wild and unkempt is more often than not hidden under a brown cloth form hat that looks like it could have been used on the set of a Crocodile Dundee movie. His face is sullen and weathered, near a decade of living as one of San Francisco's homeless has eroded away any of the natural joy he carried in his features since his youth. Heavy eyebrows rest above chocolate colored eyes that always seem to be a little blood shot from the hair of the dog that bite him last night. His nose is broad and the entirety of his lower face is covered in a curly beard that is shot through with strands of white. His body once may have been strong but the years have taken their toll. His shoulders are typically slumped under a heavy wool pea coat and the simple backpack he wears looks to weigh on him heavily. His shirts, trousers, shoes, and gloves are of whatever make, color, brand, or quality he can come by as refuse on the streets.
Personality: Samuel was once a jovial college professor focusing on comparative philosophy at San Francisco University. He was always a bit extrinsic even when he was a productive member of society, always concerned with concepts of the afterlife and what it meant to be dead. Despite this he was dependable, erudite, and friendly. In 2001 that all changed. He became a recluse, hardly speaking to anyone on campus but people always heard him speaking in his office and he said the strangest things. He began to be seen drinking almost anytime he was seen outside his office and became hostile towards some people shouting manic things about his understanding of their true nature and capabilities, that he knew what they did. Now after ten years on the street Samuel's manic shouting fits have been calmed by a steady diet of whatever hooch is available. More often than not he seems to be in his own world wherever he is, having quiet conversations with himself that are barely above a whisper.
History: Samuel Klein was born in 1966, a San Francisco native his whole life. He came up in an academic family his father a high school math teacher and his mother an art history professor. His childhood was normal enough, growing up in the middle class suburbs around San Francisco with loving but firm parents lead Samuel to be a well adjusted youth that did well in school, was a high school football star, and was a part of an extensive community network. The only odd part about his young life were troubling nightmares about relatives that had past away, they would visit Samuel at night. Years of being told it was nothing and just a nightmare developed a mental wall in his mind and soon the nightmares where shut away. After high school he went to San Francisco University and was there until 2001. First he studied Philosophy for near a decade becoming a member of the University staff in the philosophy department by 1997. For four years he lectured at San Francisco University and around the nation and in September 2001 he was at NYU as a visiting professor when the attacks on the Twin Towers happened. The flood of death from that event changed Samuel, the mental block he had built by psychological denial was shattered. The world of the living and the world of the dead came crashing together for Samuel and his mind barely remained intact. He returned to San Francisco and began a downward spiral into mania. He stopped lecturing, began drinking heavily to abate visions he couldn't understand, distanced and cut himself off from fellow professors, friends, students, and family. Soon his bills were going unpaid, his department stopped covering for him, he was fired from the University, lost his home, car, life savings, everything. For going on ten years now Samuel has been wandering the streets of San Francisco, quietly mumbling to himself after each sip from a bottle of hooch.

I love him, I imagined awhile back that the homeless community might be a little more in touch with the spectral one, so that's a pretty good reason to have him there as well. And it's political, I adore political. I'm going to rush over to add him OP.
Thank you, from what research I did it seemed the homeless in San Francisco are a serious issue and the 9/11 attacks being his triggering point also brings in a bit more of the political material into it, especially his ramblings. I didn't know how ghosts "traveled" but I figured I could play a small angle where a ghost or two from NY followed him (maybe they lived or worked in San Francisco) because he could see them and they were obviously very confused at being between worlds.
Yeah homelessness is a massive thing there, I was reading an article the other day that pretty much compared Golden Gate Park to depression era central park. As for ghosts travelling they can do it instantaneously if need be but most will walk/float short distances. The limitation being that it doesn't occur to a lot of them, they often return to old haunts so to speak and stick to familiar places or the place of their death because they can't get over the fact they're dead and if they do they move on. There are exceptions though, I imagine quite a lot would make some sort of pilgrimage to visit loved ones before passing on. And of course 9/11 victims aren't exclusively from New York so some would be local.
I will throw my character into this then, seeing the above discussion. This is going to be alot of fun.
Character Sheet
Name: Elaine Robinson
Age: 35
Appearance: Time has wrinkled her face a bit more than she'd like, even at her somewhat young age, but her green eyes shine brightly and dance with light, like two emeralds might. Her black hair falls neatly to her shoulders and she lets it go no further. Her smile is bright and can light up a room, but it has lost some of it's luster, with age taking some of the whiteness from her teeth. Her love of jewels should not go unmentioned, either. She is often wearing a necklace and earrings, sometimes they match her eyes, sometimes other gems are displayed. She does her nails painted, mostly from her days as a "psychic reader" of sorts. Clothing wise, she opts for dresses that completely cover her up, long sleeved and usually cloth or some other soft material. In winter, with the biting wind and cold air, she will switch to jeans and a turtleneck or sweater and scarf combination.
Personality: Having developed what she could only describe as a "strange gift" Elaine had studied psychology in her years at Denver University. She never realized that full extent of her gift, and much like any other student, she was outgoing, but yet serious. At the time, she just assumed the few strange visions and nightmares she received were nothing too serious. But, after graduation, she became more fully "aware" of her gift when she continued to receive the same vision over and over again for a week straight. This caused her to start keeping a log and her once promising career quickly changed directions unexpectedly. She began a journal, which she still keeps, of her visions, mostly drawing out the letters or numbers or writing detailed descriptions of the places she sees. Friends and family who had been around her began distancing themselves from her, calling her crazy and other such things. Instead of shunning her gift, Elaine embraced her ability, reaching out to the police to "assist" with the more odd cases of murder, which gained her some new notoriety, and an interview for a radio show. This captured her mostly trying to explain her gift to people who could not and did not wish to begin to understand what it was like. The fiasco, along with a great personal tragedy that befell her, resulted in her retaining only a small number of trusted friends and her decision, at age 29, to move to California, where she hoped to find a more accepting community and make a new start. San Francisco seemed the perfect place to move to, and so that was where she ended up. Her "career" was now reduced to telling fortunes and conducting "readings" for people. The most frightening thing, at least to her, was the sheer accuracy of some of these readings. Her demeanor changed as well, she became much quieter, only speaking when either asked to do so, or when the time was right; but her words were more thoughtful, to some more untactful and profound.
History: Elaine grew up in a musically inclined household, her father a lawyer, and her mother professional flutist and violist. Thus, her childhood was always filled with either studies or music. Her initial encounters were gifts came in the form of oddly colored or shaped letters that she saw reflected in mirrors and other surfaces or what the doctors termed were "flashbacks" or "her imagination running wild"; brief vestiges of places she'd never been to, as if some painter had painted the landscapes in her mind and then simply allowed her to see them. She, along with her parents and the medical professionals at the time, simply dismissed these things as something that would fade away in time, and simply ignored their occurrences and by the time she'd gotten to high school, the visions had stopped. Her father had ascended to become a prestigious criminal defense attorney and her mother's career was taking off as well. Upon graduating from college and gaining a good reputation within the community for her police work, even if she was hardly given the proper credit. Her studies of Psychology once more brought out the visions of letters and Elaine resolved to try and embrace the gift. What she didn't know, was that someone else was hiding in the background. Well, not so much hiding as just sort of floating there. A ghost, unable to move on, who had seen to guide the woman in the pursuit of her gift. Elaine was totally unprepared for the next few years. The radio interview was a series of thinly veiled insults, awkward questions followed by answers that left the hosts and a few call in guests unsettled. That would be minor compared to the unexpected and violent deaths of her parents at the hands of one of her father's many enemies, which would cause her to have a psychic episode. She grew quiet and closed off the world, shutting out all offers for help and attention, even from her closest friends. Elaine made the decision to leave Denver then, for San Francisco. She used what money she had left to move herself there and began to provide a few "services" of the occult kind to anyone who would listen to her words of prophecy about their lives or descriptions of places she'd never been to, where they'd lost something or someone was buried.

Sorry for delays I've had the bug going about. My main concern with your CS Howler is the nature of Elaine's gift. All of them essentially work the same on a basic level in that the medium sees and senses the dead and the dead are aware of this. From there ghosts may approach them and one thing they can cause is visions and dreams, often for their own purposes or for the mediums if bargained with. Perhaps she has one ghost as her companion and aid for her visions but the ghosts have to be the first link. Your CS implies the visions come from her and it's kind of my fault as well for not really clearing it up in the OOC as I did in the interest check. Other than that it's great, I hope I've made things a bit clearer in this post but if not you can ask me to clarify anything.
