The World of Eden RP Topic

Life had been difficult since the day the virus spread. Even being at a medical school didn't even help your chances of survival either, at least for the people Abram knew. He was one of the lucky ones who hadn't been infected, but lucky wasn't the best adjective for it now. People had gone crazy, pillaging, running around, and basically killing others to live. There was no government to help regulate the world anymore for most have been infected with the virus too. Life was hard, and it was now survival of the fittest. There were little communities of people, but they were always targeted by little militias and guerrilla units for their supplies, so they hardly lasted.

Abe stuck with himself for the first year after the infection, but was soon joined up by two other men he met along the road. They were different than others he had met, somewhat kinder and more respectable than the rest. He respected them and trusted them enough to travel with them. Since that day they have been living and traveling together.

The trio had rough patches, but they never gave up. They were going to live through it no matter what, or at least that's what Abram hoped.

Now their current mission was to look for supplies. They headed into a town once known as Zanesville. Abram had only passed through the town on his old family vacations, and he didn't know much about it, but it brought back memories that he didn't really want or need to remember.

"What do we need again?" He said, turning to the two men in his group.

Dallas glanced up at Abe silently, sighing as he hadn't the patience to explain their goal once more. As if it had to be asked, day in and day out it was the same thing, to survive. He understood the younger man had some difficulties, he'd never been forced into situations like this, Dallas had minor experience with them. That's what he was here for though, he had decided a while ago, he was to provide the insight and guidance that Abe needed. While he wasn't quite a master at survival, he knew enough to keep them moving day after day. Supplies were always scarce, and for that reason he was glad they traveled in naught more than a trio. On some days they'd scrape by on a single can of pasta for each of them and a bit of water. Otherdays they'd feast, finding miraculous hordes of food, or occasionally catching somthing worthwhile during their sporadic hunting sessions. How ironic, Dallas thought with a smirk as he rose to his feet. He had left the military to settle down and have a calmer life, just in time for all hell to break loose. It's as if the universe was deliberately trying to upset him. Well... He'd answer everytime with a simple boot to the backside. He didn't survive his tours of duty to come back and die in his own backyard, he'd push on and live.
"We need some more water kid, canteens are running low," he replied, shaking the few sips of water in his flask with a cynical smile. It was hard to be cheerful in these kinds of situations, but sulking and dragging your feet wasn't going to save one's life, actions were. As such Dallas was very adamant about their constant moving, always looking for the next best place of resolve, for a few days at least. Towns would have little to no essentials left in them sometimes, so lingering long was not only pointless but potentially fatal. If one spent too much time on a goose chase trying to find a meal, they may starve. Or worse, he thought, his hand absentmindedly moving to the blade of his trusted combat knife, a possession he always had on him nowadays. Worse would be the infected getting you, or other humans he deemed as "bandits" killing you for your meager haul. Survival of the fittest, that's all it was now. Rarely was a friendly face seen nowadays, and even more scarce were friendly faces that wouldn't stab you in the back. "I'd say we haul ass towards the nearest city, should be plenty of stuff there."
