Idolatry of the Logic (Seeking Male Character)

I thought I'd lay out the rules first, this way you can be the decider of whether or not I am worthy of your roleplaying time.


-Absolutely no one-liners or anything close. I post anywhere from 700 words to over 1000, and I'd be happy to offer you a sample of my writing if you ask very sweetly.

-This will have very mature themes and I require someone who is not afraid to play dominant, violent characters, as well as subdued NPC's or character's we invent together. It will be over PM's, no exceptions.

-This is my idea, yes, but that doesn't make you my bitch. You are supposed to contribute to the story, too, but please, make it realistic to the plot. If we are roleplaying about sheep, there isn't going to be a giant bunny that comes in to eat them. As for large twists, run them by me. I like surprises, but not ones that I think are going to run the roleplay into the ground. But please, have a mind of your own.

-ABSOLUTELY NO RUN ON SENTENCES. When you talk like this it gets really annoying and then it keeps going and going and going and then I want to find a gun and shoot myself in the knee and then hobble into the street to be run over by a car.

-I make grammar mistakes more than I'd like to admit, but we have spell and grammar check for a reason. Maybe write the post in a word document and then copy it into the PM box. I just don't care for having to decipher your posts. Improper comma use is my pet peeve, as well as "i"'s and "e"'s being mixed up. As long as you do your best at editing and re-reading your text before posting, we should get along perfectly.

-I may require a sample of your writing, so don't be offended. Also, OOC can be casual, and I love to get to know my partner. I'm not as up tight as I seem to be, and I love to joke around. Oh, and if you PM me to show your interest, tell me what your favorite dessert is in the title. That way I know you read all the rules.

-You don't have to be a male in RL. You just have to be aware that I don't want the 'I'm bad with violence and dominant characters' excuse.

-I will probably come up with more rules, so beware. Nothing absurd, though, just formatting rules that are meaningless to most people that aren't as anal as I am.

Plot, If you're still here:

Setting: Modern Day
Genre(s): Action, Romance, Adventure, vague un-themed Fantasy, (and most likely something I'm not thinking of)
Roles: Lauren, Derek, Liam (name can be changed) and NPC's that we can both operate and destroy simultaneously.

~~Derek, a man in his late forties had been through some sequence of life events. About five years ago, his wife and daughter died in a fatal car accident on their way to pick up his birthday cake. His son, whom was already out of the house by then, didn't bother showing up for the funeral. Derek had somehow managed to keep up his occupation as a medical examiner, living in alcohol flavored misery. Even with the consolement of co-workers, he had no family left, nor any reason to keep living.

This lasted for the forementioned five years, until he was called onto scene at an orphanage just outside of town. A child had stumbled down the stairs, breaking his neck. He simply did his job, and as he was releasing the body to be sent back to the lab, he noticed a small blonde girl hiding in between the couch and the wall. Derek took a moment away from his busy day to move over to her, crouching down to her level only to notice her painful resemblance to his daughter.

"Hi, there," he gave her a warm smile, noticing the bruises on her cheeks and the hitching of her breath.

"Hi," she had whispered back, moving an inch or two away, her chocolate eyes catching in the light to reveal the tear stains on her porcelain cheeks.

Derek decided that day, that he'd take her away. Later, when cleaning her up they found vaginal scarring and of course, bruises all over her seven-year-old body. Unable to shut down the orphanage, he angrily took his little girl away and didn't look back.

Present Day: Chicago


Derek and his beloved Lauren had moved across the country to escape his pained past. Lauren was now sixteen and blossoming in school, as well as in her relationship with her father. Derek found a steady job working as a manager at a bank, making enough money to support his teen's private school education and a nice vacation every summer. Lauren knew nothing of her past, either, making life so much easier on him.


One evening, as Lauren explained to her father the difference between postmortem and pre-mortem, there was a knock at the door. Lauren followed Derek to the door, appearing under his arm as their eyes were cast upon Liam. Derek hesitantly invited him in, demanding Lauren finish her dinner in her room. But being born into a world of mischief, Lauren sat in her doorway as she listened to her father and his son’s conversation. Of course, she didn’t realize he had another child until she tuned in onto the conversation in the other room. Nor did she realize she wasn’t his child, until she began eavesdropping.

A week after Liam arrives, Lauren begins to have dreams. Dreams about her past, in the orphanage, and all the things that had happened to her before being rescued by Derek. It turns out, everyone who is associated intimately (not sexually, but emotionally) with Derek are given a sort of sixth sense. The gift is always different, and this will lead to many different adventures with all of the characters. Liam comes back to tell his father of his gift (we can decide what it is together), and maybe to ask for help.~~

I was also thinking that perhaps the automobile accident his wife was in was a suicide. Maybe she could see dead people after marrying him, and they wouldn't leave her be, constantly threatening her family, and she ended up losing all sanity. This is just a suggestion, and could end up being an event that turns to roleplay in a new direction.

Liam’s story is something I haven’t completely planned out yet. Possibly a drug addiction, or even murder. I’d like to plan this out with my partner. I'm planning on having a romance develop between Lauren and Liam, and I probably won't budge on that. However, I refuse to make it fluffy and lovey dovey. Obviously there is going to be bad blood and jealousy between the two. I don't want this roleplay to be stagnant, so therefore I plan for them to move all about to different places, whether it's all three of them or simply two. One idea I had was them travelling to visit Derek's past acquaintances' and lovers to determine whether or not they've been suffering from immortal gifts.

The role I would like you to play would be Liam and Derek. I will be playing Lauren, and if we need NPC's we can take turns.

I'm thinking we should try running another RP. I've gotten too much into groups now and one on ones have kind of lost their charm to me. You opposed to trying a group?
