Death Note - 4 year time skip

Taking place a year or half a year after Mello leaves the Wammy's House. Near stays in the orphanage a little longer, but is soon moved to start focusing on the Kira case by joining the FBI. The SPK was established after Near reveals the info to the president. It is mentioned that Mello has been part of the mafia for one and a half years after the 4-year time skip, so before that he was probably working on the case by himself. More likely, trying to find a place to live, money, etc. Maybe Mello was working on other private cases, not as serious as the Kira one (BB?), and once he manages to stand on his feet he joins the Mafia and finally focuses on the Kira case. Before that, in about half a year after he leaves the orphanage, he ends up living with Matt. Matt is now being the top ranked Wammy's House child, since Mello and Near have left the place. He discovers that he is literally bored in the orphanage and contacts Mello. They've always been friends and Mello trusts him, so they end up living together and working together. Matt's purpose is to mostly monitor and make sure there is privacy and safety for him and Mello. Matt never becomes part of the mafia but is always there to help Mello.

Name: Mihael Keehl (known as Mello)
Age: 14-15 (When he leaves the Wammy's House)
Date of Birth: December 13, 1989
Short info and History: Mello is the oldest of L's successors. He is introduced as a young teenager at the orphanage (Wammy's House). He is first seen playing with some children, and is later taken to Roger's office to learn that L has died. Mello leaves the orphanage after rejecting working together with Near on the Kira case. After that, his actions are unknown before he is seen working with the mafia 4 years later.
Character: Mello is a genius, more intelligent than the average human. Due to Near being top in the Wammy's House, he develops an inferiority complex. He is acting way too much on his emotions and wish to surpass Near. For that reason he tends to take risks very often to get to the solution quicker ("I will do whatever it takes..."). By taking drastic strategies, similarly to L, he confuses and foces the hand of his opponents. Mello is not going after the Kira case out of sense of justice, but he wants to prove to himself and to the world that he is the worthy successor of L and in that sense, better than Near. Even though he absolutely despises Near, and in some cases might even be jealous of him, he is aware that due to him he has a reason to fight for the better.
Habits: Mello, just like L's love for sweets, is almost always seen eating chocolate bars. He is often seen bending his right leg up while sitting, often with his left leg turned outwards. He tends to alternate between that pose and simply crossing his right leg over his left leg.

Name: Tono Okkaeru (Changed the names of some words meaning replacement and mature/ grown up)
Appearance: Short, black hair. Black eyes. Always seen in black clothes/ uniform when next to Near. Only similarity is the skin tone, pale.

Age: 17 (when Near's 11 and Mello's 14-15)

Story (please help me out if you have any ideas!) : Tono is one of the children that grew up in the Wammy's House. Born in England, her parents gave her away as soon as she was born, unable to raise her. She has always been a quiet child, but was never completely anti-social. She would hang out with the other kids, but never actually become friends with them. She is aware of her parents giving her away by choice and that led to her never trusting everyone 100%. She is extremely interested in the Kira case and would secretly come up with theories and do personal research about it at night. When she learns that Mello and Near are leaving the Wammy's, she suspects their relation to the Kira case. She secretly admires Near, but despises him at the same time due to his inability to express emotion. Part of her knows that this is because she just seeks recognition from him and also tends to get confused if he agrees with her theories or not. She is an intelligent girl, ranked in the top 10 of the Wammy's House children. After Near leaves the orphanage, she begs Roger to privately work and help Near out, even if she has to stay in the orphanage, as a feeling of justice is running through her. She can be pretty impatient when it comes to solving cases, especially when she is almost sure that she knows the answer. Roger, even though stunned by her passion to work on this and even being so aware of the case, tells her that it's impossible as only certain people are allowed to access that kind of information, and even being aware where Near is at the moment. Tono gets angry and announces that she herself is leaving the orphanage to focus on the case. Roger warns her that she will most probably end up dead, but she ignores him. Tono finds a way to get in contact with Near herself. Near recognises her from the orphanage and after a lot of begging and revealing everything she has come up with, Near agrees to have her around but under watch. She accepts the offer. Slowly they both get used to eachother's presence and even start working together and sharing ideas. Near's obviously much more intelligent, and most of the time Tono's information is useless. But she will come up with 1-2 things every once in a while that Near hasn't thought of yet. They have their flares, as Tono can get quite passionate and angry. But she starts trusting Near more than she has ever trusted a person before in her life. Eventually she will disappear in some way, as she is obviously not present after the 4 year skip. I'm thinking of maybe Near letting her go, claiming that she has become useless. Truth is, he just wants her to survive and start enjoying life.

About: Tono will most of the time appear as a quiet, serious girl. Pretty much the quiet geek of the class. However when she strongly believes something she can become quite passionate about it, raising her voice tone, which sometimes shocks people. She is intelligent, but never as close as Near, Mello or Matt. She decides to dedicate her life to the Kira case after she discovers Near and Mello's department from the orphanage.

- Date of Birth: August 24, 1991
Personality: Behind his cold and almost emotionless face, Near is just a child seeking to find his place in the world, raised practically from birth solely to become a detective, Near followed the role he was given to a T.
Skills and Weaknesses:

• Near's primary skill is his extreme intelligence. Near has been praised by the likes of L, Watari, and Roger Ruvie as the smartest child in Wammy's House, and it shows by his ability to solve even the most difficult of cases at such a young age, to the point where L himself was considering picking a child rather than the more mature Mello as his successor should he die.
• Near is almost entirely codependent upon those he works with, and requires their complete support, otherwise he would be unable to solve the vast majority of cases he is assigned, as he lacks the motivation to do things hands on like his rivals and predecessor.
• Nate also withholds the ability to speak a multitude of languages, from English, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, and Arabic.
• The boy now known as Deneuve's biggest weakness is his extremely sensitive nature. Truly, Near takes most everything people say about him directly to heart, and, after his constant bullying at Wammy's house, Near hides his sensitivity behind a cold and emotionless personality, and refuses to trust anyone, whether they be from Wammy's house or not.
• Above all, Near is one of the most arrogant people you'll likely ever meet, as he never openly admits that he might be incorrect. He is self-dependent in terms of solving the case in his head with the evidence that his team brings him, and despises the thought of having to theorize and deduce things with a person of lesser intelligence, as he prides himself on his deductive skills.

Quirks:

• Near is never seen without some sort of toy in his hands or nearby, whether they be robots, finger puppets, or legos, he often uses these toys for deductions and theories on the current situation.
• He also has a penchant for stacking dice, cards, and matchsticks to extreme levels, once going so far as to make an L-shaped stack of matchsticks in the main hall of Wammy's house when he heard that L himself might make an appearance there.
• When thinking heavily or put in a nervous situation, Near will begin twirling a strand of his hair around his finger, this in particular is the only way someone might be able to deduce when Near is depressed or saddened by the current situation.
• Nate almost always sits on the ground with his left knee upwards and his right leg strewn behind him, he most often rests his arm on his knee.
• When seated on a chair, Near always pulls his left foot onto the chair while letting his right leg linger wherever it goes. He also places his left elbow on his knee and rests his head in his hands more often then not.

True Name: Cole Williams

Gender: Male

Age: At the start of the RP (the year of L's death), 16 years old.

Aliases: Recherché, later known as Rue Ryuzaki, Beyond Birthday, or simply RR.

Biography: Cole's parents died in a house fire when he was a mere two months old, leaving him homeless. A family close to his took him in, but, in time, realized that they weren't providing an adequate home for the infant. They took him to Wammy's House, where, unbeknownst to them, he would be raised to become a genius. At the age of nine, Cole (then known as Recherche, because of his penchant to discover things he shouldn't know) began to research his past. Knowing nothing about himself other than his age, he dug up records on the year of his birth. Discovering that a house burned down, killing a couple and leaving their infant son an orphan, he then began to research the couple who had died. After flipping through several pictures of them, he decided that he bore a striking resemblance to the man, and his eyes were the same tint as the woman's. Although he could find no records as to the child's name, he decided to forego searching for his birth certificate; his name is, perhaps, the only thing he has ever purposefully avoided knowing. He wished to become Recherche, both to others and himself. He realized that, while the idea of a "purpose in life" was clichéd, he felt the need to live up to his namesake. Like most other Wammy's children, he revered L. However, he had heard whisperings of another name- not L, but B. He decided to remember that other name, keeping it in his mind for future reference while he tried to surpass L. When Near was selected as L's successor, Recherche's life began to fall apart around him.The one thing that he had devoted his life to- taken from him, and by a younger child, at that! Recherche decided that Wammy's House was smothering him, ignoring and repressing his talent. After Mello abandoned Wammy's, Recherche decided that he had no reason not to do the same.

Personality:

• Genius-level intellect
• Manipulative, cunning, very charismatic
• Devoted to mystery and logic

It should be noted that Recherche was left with mental problems after his life was stolen from him by Near, and needed an object of fixation to keep his life together. He made that object proving that he was better than Near, along with discovering more about Beyond Birthday, the man who had a similar vendetta with L. His mental issues slowly begin dominate his personality.

Appearance:

Recherche was always a sharp dresser, often wearing suits and ties in his everyday life. His eyesight is bad, so he wears glasses constantly. His hair is long and black, but he keeps it out of his eyes; his face is sharp, angular, and extremely pale. He is five feet and eleven inches tall, very thin, with the fingers of a pianist. He keeps himself well-groomed. His eyes are vibrant green and his teeth are bright white.

Additional info: "Recherché" means "Searcher" or "With elegance" in French, which is why it suits Cole.

Beyond Birthday

True Name: Unknown. Referred to as B. Known as "BB", "B", "Backup".

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown. Second child to be brought to Wammy's; likely of an age similar to L.

Biography: Not very much is known about Beyond Birthday. He was the second child brought into Wammy's, along with A, to be trained as L's successor. A committed suicide, and B left Wammy's (likely soon after). Beyond Birthday devoted his life to proving that he was better than L, and did so not by proving to be a better detective, but by creating an unsolvable crime. He committed a string of serial murders in Los Angeles, known as the Los Angeles B.B. murders, in which every victim has the initials "B.B.". He wanted L's attention, and got it, in the form of a pawn sent by L to investigate. Beyond Birthday aided this pawn in solving his complicated puzzles in the guise of Rue Ryuzaki, a private detective. After he had helped this pawn, Naomi Misora, determine why the murders were committed the way they were and who the next victims would be, he attempted to add the "unsolvable" element to his crime; the last victim was to be himself, and the killer would die, therefore becoming un-catchable. However, he underestimated Naomi Misora, who apprehended him and took him into custody. It is believed that Kira killed B.B. during one of his mass-prison-murders.

Personality: Unknown. He acted like Rue Ryuzaki, who, in turn, acted and dressed like L; it is unknown what was his actual personality, and what he took from L. It is known that he was either criminally insane or on the verge, as he often looked at himself in the mirror and practiced evil laughter. He seemed to feel no remorse after his murders, and often experimented on the corpses. He had a penchant for strawberry jam.

Appearance:



Beyond Birthday's actual appearance is unknown, but he dressed like, walked like, and wore makeup to disguise himself as L. He is often portrayed with red eyes.

Additional Info: Beyond Birthday was born with the eyes of a shinigami. He can see people's names and death dates. Beyond Birthday seems to have a love of wordplay, as he often uses acronyms to suit his own purposes. For example: L.A. B.B. (Murders). Los Angeles Beyond Birthday. Or, if you'd like: L is After Beyond Birthday. Another, more complex one: Rue Ryuzaki. R.R. In Japanese, there is no "L" sound, per se; rather, there is eru, which is comparative to the English R. Therefore, R.R. was similar to L.L.
