I wanna reserve earth/rock based powers
It started with an explosion from somewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean. It had been massive, causing tidal waves to hit North and South America. What had been the cause was virtually unknown, but effects could be felt across the world. The least odd of these were the strange weather patterns cropping up.
No, what was the strangest was that people started to change. They started to develop powers. Powers of all kinds that you would have thought impossible outside of a comic book. The various governments started to refer to these people as conduits, for they had been born with something called the conduit gene. Somehow, someway, the explosion had caused their powers to awaken.
People were scared. It was hard not to see conduits as something horrible when an event so catastrophic had seemingly caused their existence. Conduits were seen as freaks, as monsters and mutants.
You are one of these conduits. You may have tried to not use your powers or keep them hidden. Unfortunately, a conduit with their powers awakening is often an eyesore. The people have noticed you and see you as just another freak. They fear you. You are infamous.
As a conduit, you've found that the only people you can turn to are your fellow conduits. You know there are others in your city. You hear a rumor about groups of conduits banding together. You seek them out.
You eventually find your new friends.
This RP is based off the inFamous video game series. No knowledge of the games is needed as the RP is completely non-canon. While the idea of conduits and many of the same themes present from the games are in this RP, the setting and story are unrelated. None of the characters will be appearing either.
The blank CS:
Name: (Including titles and nicknames)
Known by: (This is what the general populace call your character. You can have two if you want, but they should probably be names that provoke fear. For example, "The Demon", not "Wonder Girl" or "The Asshole". It's up to you if your character actually enjoys the name or not)
Age: (A conduit can probably be any age, though I think I'll be putting the minimum age at 16. If you really want someone younger, then talk to me about it)
Appearance: (A description to give an idea of their looks, physique, and preferred style of clothing. You can post just a picture if you want, up to you)
Alignment: (Leave this neutral for now)
Conduit Abilities: (What powers have they gained? Try for things that are more than just super strength or speed. Most conduits likely have increased strength and endurance than regular humans anyway. If there are any applicable weaknesses you can think of, put them here as well)
Weapon of Choice: (Optional field. Keep in mind that these should be more common items because I'd rather not have a bunch of characters with swords and guns. Don't include this if your character would rather just use their powers or their fists)
Personality: (What kind of person are they?)
History: (Give a basic idea of what their life was like before they realized their powers. Also include what happened immediately after this and how they came to be interested in joining the group. If they have family, how did they take this?)
The RP will be taking place in Chicago, Illinois. You won't need any knowledge of the city (As I would be in the same boat!). It's really just for flavor.
Located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Chicago.
I will be updating this with maps to at least point out where certain places of interest are located, to at least give a sense of direction.
Name: Theresa Gillespie
Known by: The Reaper's Fist
Appearance: 5'9" and skin that looks a tad too pale. She's a bit on the tall side and is almost slender. She's about average weight for her height though, and she's got slightly toned legs/upper body. Her hair is a touch curly, mostly straight, and a reddish brown color. She has green eyes that are specked with brown, but aren't particularly striking in much way.
Conduit Abilities: Theresa can exert a near-invisible energy from her limbs. The energy has a high density and can propel Theresa to great heights and speeds. This energy can be packed around her arms and legs, providing a stronger force behind her melee attacks. The energy can even be propelled, but at short ranges. Theresa is unable to use this as armor as it far too heavy and hard on her limbs.
Personality: A smart and upbeat girl with interests in medicine and veterinary work. She's independent to the point of being headstrong. She shows obvious frustration with those who don't share her strong moral compass and those who get on her bad side probably won't hear the end of it. Despite this, Theresa cares to deeply for most people, even if some of them infuriate her. She's been called naive before because of this, but she cares little about that.
History: Living in a household with just a single mother and a younger sister was hard on Theresa, but she developed to be a very independent girl because of it. She had a fascination with being a nurse when she was younger but threw this idea away when her only cat was run over by a vehicle. Theresa decided she would much rather work toward easing the pain and suffering of animals.
Theresa's mother was a waitress, having to work long shifts to keep her family fed. Many times it had been up to Theresa to take care of her sister, Amanda. The two sisters developed a very close bond and even decided to get a place together after Amanda finished high school. As for Theresa's schooling, she excelled despite her occasional rough home life. It was during this period of her life that she met and befriended Daemond Wright, though the two went in wildly different directions after high school.
Theresa's powers came to her during the night. She had been having terrible nightmares and couldn't sleep. As she got up to get something to drink, she ended up putting a hole in the wall. This woke Amanda. As Theresa tried to explain a cover story to her sister, she accidentally used her powers again, putting a hole in the floor. Amanda was frightened but didn't say a word until the next morning.
As more and more conduits were appearing throughout the world, Amanda couldn't accept that her sister was now one of them. Fearing for her health and safety, Amanda demanded Theresa leave and not come back for some time. Heartbroken, Theresa did just that. She didn't want to burden her mother and was forced to drop her schooling. Thankfully, Daemond came along and offered her a place to be.
Name: Daemond Wright
Known by: None for now
Appearance: 6'0", brown hair, hazel eyes. Because of his background, Daemond has a naturally tan skin tone. While he's not a huge guy, he's not exactly lanky, and he's got an athletic build.
Conduit Abilities: Daemond can share his "life force" with others. What this essentially means is that Daemond can heal a hurt individual, but some of that individual's damage and pain is transferred back to Daemond. To heal someone at 100%, Daemond would get hurt back about 70%.
Daemond also has a limited control over fire. It's hardly much beyond shooting a few fireballs here and there.
Personality: Bitter and determined, but has a sense of class about him. Daemond can be a rough guy to get to know as he carries an air of elitism and despises being seen as lesser. Thus, he always tries to look impeccable, right down to his clothing and hairstyle. He can be blunt and he is never afraid to make his disagreements clear. He does seem to be distant at times, and seems to keep certain things bottled away. Ultimately, Daemond just wants everything he does to go smoothly.
History: Daemond's mother is a doctor and his father the owner of a pharmaceutical company. His mother is where his Brazillian side comes from. Daemond is an only child, thus, very wealthy and very spoiled. This is not entirely undeserving however, because Daemond has always been a hardworking boy. He always got top marks and participated in many sports.
Daemond was very different from his father, whom was known to be extremely irritable. He grew to be a far more calm individual than his father and rather disliked many of the man's hobbies. Daemond had barely a casual interest in sports and didn't understand what the deal was with hunting.
Daemond's father had been a tough man, a man who pushed him to his limits. If Daemond hadn't been keeping his grades up, or wasn't getting the hang of something, his father didn't hesitate to push him the hard way: with violence. Daemond, deep down, has always hated his father. It was becoming clear that his father would never really understand him, would never allow Daemond to have any real part of the company. Why else would mother finally be having another baby at her age?
When Daemond found himself accidentally setting fire to the family home, it was known to his mother and father that he was a conduit. The fire had been small, causing little damage to the house, but Daemond's father was furious. If not for the embarrassment and hate that would come upon the company if it was known Daemond was a conduit, his father would have thrown him out. Instead, it was decided that Daemond would be pulled from university and kept under his parent's watch.
When Daemond learned that his friend Theresa was also a conduit and had been shunned by her family, he secretly arranged for her to stay in one of the homes his parents owned in the city. In complete defiance of his father and hoping to find a sense of belonging, Daemond then arranged to gather more conduits. He had contacts among his father's corporation that would be willing to help him, even if he now was a conduit.
None for now

If anyone wants an NPC related to their character on the NPC list, just tell me. This won't mean they have to be particularly important, they'll just be here for reference.
I'll explain the alignment/karma system here. If anyone hates it entirely or has a suggestion to change it please tell me.
So the idea is that certain plot events will allow for heroic or evil solutions. Depending on your character's actions, I would give out points toward that particular alignment. You could earn points in both, but whatever would be higher at the time would be considered your alignment. Having a particular number of points in that alignment would put you on a certain tier. For example, if you got ten points in evil, you would go to the "Thug" tier and you would be able to add an upgrade to your conduit abilities.
There would be three tiers to each alignment side. You could be neutral and try raising both, but whatever you reach first will be set. If the day comes and you reach max alignment, the other would then be locked out forever.
Also, beyond the first tier, getting a certain amount of points won't put you to the next tier. I'll just look at your points at certain story events and then give everyone the tier they have the highest points in.

Sure. Though, powers can overlap a little if people want. Two characters can shoot fireballs just as long as their other abilities make them differ from each other.
Lucifer Zaebos The Nightmare
Body Type: Long, Slim, Lightly Toned, Pale Skinned
~ Has a single dimple on his left cheek
~ Never takes off his necklaces
~ Smokes to calm his nerves
Following the catastrophic events, Lucifer began to notice that he had the power to manipulate shadows and force terrible nightmares into the minds of people in slumber. Though he has not mastered his abilities to the best of its standard, Lucifer manages to wield it quite well. At least better than before. In the past, his own powers had turned on him. Casting bad dreams in his sleep and worst of all, it victimized his own mother. Finally convinced that he had to somehow get these things under his control it opened doors to a possibility of saving his mother, Alice.
As of now, he can gain dominance over 'most' shadows and get his so-called 'minions' to obey his commands. Shadows have the ability to possess humans, but only if the possessed is the owner of that specific shadow.
His nightmare skills on the other hand aren't too shabby either. Lucifer is able to mold dreams according to the person's fears and mentally channels his newly created nightmares into the hosts mind as they rest.
Though his lifestyle growing up has forced him to become more mature and independent, on the inside Lucifer is just a grown boy who had been robbed of his childhood and yearns for love and a sense of belonging. Being an outcast as far back as he could remember, his long hair and quirky choice in fashion weren't a big help in earning him any friends. He had a few of course, but most of them weren't very close or only turned to him when they had no one else to hang out with. Lucifer isn't hard to befriend to be honest and he's the type of guy who warms up to people pretty quickly as long as you allow him. Comparing him to a stray kitten getting soaked in the rain might give you a better picture of what he's like.
Keep in mind that's what he's like on the inside. On the outside, what everyone else sees, he's a cold hearted demon that just doesn't belong. People judge quickly by the way he looks, but that didn't stop model scouters to find him and get him into the world of Fashion, but that no longer matters. He's an 'official' outcast now. The long-haired-quirky-pale-tall-skinny-conduit... Lucifer Zaebos.
Working as a part time model, Lucifer also did odd jobs here and there. I mean who wouldn't mind taking in a bit more cash from time to time? Specially when you're feeding a mouth other than your own.
After his father had left his mother prior to finding out she was pregnant with his child, Lucifer instantly became in charge of his broken mother the moment he gained the knowledge of her troubles. One of his mother's close friends cared enough to come by everyday to take care of him while his mother, Alice, wallowed in a pit of tears and depression.
Time passed and the infant boy soon turned into a capable young man. Meanwhile, Alice's dear friend talked enough sense into her. Enough to pull her out of 'the pit' she had been drowning in for the past few years anyway. Even then, she wasn't strong enough to care for her own son, but it wasn't long till Lucifer could no longer bare the feeling of being a burden. He promised his mother's friend that he could fend for the both of them and just like that, the parental roles were on him.
Living like a 'single father' for years, he awoke one night in a frantic state full of fear and worry. In his nightmare it displayed his mother dying from alcohol poisoning and he had failed to save her due to an unknown reason.
Making a mad dash to Alice's room, he half expected to find her dead, but what he found was even worse. She was picking at her own skin and locks of her own blood caked hair scattered the bed. The police marked her down as a 'psychopath' and she was immediately placed into a mental institute.
After harnessing his powers and befriending his own shadow who had told him about the abilities he exerted in the first place, he later found out that his mother wasn't crazy at all, she had been possessed by her own shadow. When I said he could only control 'most', I meant it. It's just his bad luck that one he can't control lies within his mother.
He was a conduit and he knew their were others. Hearing about groups of them breaking out he set out to find a group that could help him improve his powers... just enough to get the shadow out of Alice's body.

Name: Alexandra "Alex" Cross
Known by: The Sinner's Shadow
* Blonde hair
* Swirling green/blue eyes
* Fair skin
* Athletic, slim build
* Butterfly tattoo on right bicep
Alex has the ability to manipulate shadows. This ability extends to the creation, and extension, of shadows. These shadows can take hold of a victim, and have even been known to squeeze quite tightly. Unfortunately, these shadow's are unable to exert enough pressure to kill, although the shifting of bones might occur. Remarkably, that is not where Alex's true talent within the shadows lie. She is able to use them as a means of transportation. This allows her to easily bypass solid matter as she is intangible when she is "shadow walking." She is also undetectable in the form since she is not a solid figure.
She is also able to control and manipulate ice. This ability is not as great as her primary ability of controlling and travelling through the shadows, but she is able to shoot ice shards, and create ice weapons with this ability. Unfortunately, she is not able to freeze anyone with her ability, but she does not need to considering her "Shadow Grip."
Alex is the type who could be considered "true neutral." This is due to the simple fact that she will stand on one side one minute, and the other side the next. It all depends on what would bring her the greatest benefit. Due to this tendency, many view her to a rogue-type, only caring about herself. While that is true to some extent, it is also not impossible for her to care about the well-being of others; anyone who has managed to befriend her would testify to that.
Before the realization of being a conduit, Alex was headed for trouble. How would a teen age girl possibly find herself in trouble? Gang activity. Yes, Alexandra Cross was the leader of a local gang that seemed to grow by the hour. She did not truly care about what happened to those who happened to be in the way of her gang, nor did she really care about the lackeys, as she called her group members. This view led to her not actively leading in the sense that she was giving specific orders. She merely keep everyone in their place, but otherwise gave them free reign. One day, walking along the street with her second-in-command -- her best since childhood -- her views were changed. Being dragged into a gun fight, Alex would come to give up the leadership of her gang to the third highest ranking member as her best friend had been shot several times and died.
With this traumatic event came Alex's moving to Chicago, Illinois to start anew. Little did she know, not even two weeks later, she would be waking up as what the normal people called a freak. This realization came to her one morning when she'd forgotten to close the curtains. Rolling over in the bed, she imagined a something blocking out the sun, and to her surprise, a shadow covered her window. She spent many hours practicing and honing her skills, also using the time to advance herself by way of stealing, doing odd jobs, acting as a private investigator, and even terrorizing people.
One eventful night, she was approached by a woman who looked to be in her late twenties or early thirties. This woman told her of a group of people who were also Conduits and had also been fortunate -- or unfortunate if you asked some -- enough to awaken their abilities. With a location, and information of others like her gathering, Alex found herself interested. This group could quite possibly open up many opportunities for her. Curious, she pondered this idea. A smirk came to her lips after a while. Well, there was only one way to find out.

Name: Tyler Patterson
Known by: Darkbane
He is 5'9"
Healthy build, but not that muscular
Usually wears a hoodie with a leather jacket over it, a pair of jeans, and some dirty tennis shoes.
Wears sunglasses at night, in public. (explained below)
Conduit Abilities: Tyler has the ability to absorb light energy and then use that energy as a weapon. He can shoot concentrated beams of light at an opponent or use it to see in the dark. He can have the light absorbed for a very long time, and usually absorbs a lot during the day, since he has little to no access to light at night.
Weapon of Choice: Flashlight. He can absorb the light from it and can also use it as a blunt weapon when needed.
Personality: Tyler is a smart, caring individual who has always wanted to put others before himself. However, he tends to act on a whim, ignoring the consequences even when he knows of them.
History: Before the catastrophe, Tyler's future was looking very bright, no pun intended. After he graduated high school with straight A's, he went on to med school, hoping to one day become a medical doctor. He moved to Chicago to start an internship at one of the local hospitals, despite how much his friends and family pleaded him to stay. Tyler's girlfriend, Emily, was especially upset. The two tried to keep the relationship going, chatting on Skype and calling eachother almost every day. But alas, the relationship was doomed to failure. Emily called Tyler one night and told him that she couldn't do it anymore, and that she was breaking up with him. After hanging up, Tyler was extremely upset. He sank into a deep depression and began finding comfort in whiskey. He stopped showing up to intern at the hospital, and pretty soon completely gave up on his schooling. His parents were ashamed of him, and never called him. Relationships with his friends degraded to the point where they were like strangers. His apartment quickly became a mess, but to pay rent Tyler got a job at the local gas station. Life went on like this for quite some time, until that night. The night when he discovered his abilities.
It wasn't one of the distinctive abilities he had heard about. He couldn't shoot bolts of lightning out of his hand, or freeze a man where he stood, but what he could do was something rather special. Tyler woke up one night to relieve himself in the bathroom. When he walked in he realized that the light was on. Only, it wasn't. He looked at the switch, and it was set to off. He looked up at the light and realized it wasn't coming from there. He looked in the mirror and noticed his eyes glowing brightly. Needless to say, Tyler was shocked. So shocked in fact, that when he reached his hand up out of curiosity, a beam of light shot out and shot a hole through the wall, out into the city. Tyler felt a handful of emotions. Surprised, excited, anxious. All of these could be used to describe how he felt. But soon enough, those would all seep back into one emotion. Embarrassment. Eventually he learned to control his abilities, but at night his eyes would never stop glowing. Tyler could not walk down the street at night without wearing sunglasses. The only time he didn't have to hide his eyes was during the day. Luckily he worked the day shift at the gas station, otherwise people would become more suspicious than they already were. One day, while working, a man came to the counter and bought a pack of cigarettes. The man leaned over the counter and whispered, "I know who you are. There's a meeting, for our kind. Go there, and you won't have to hide who you are, at least not with them." Tyler was astounded. Was it true? A place where others like him met? He wanted to think it was too good to be true, but for some reason, he believed the man. Finally, there was a place for him. A light in the darkness.

Thanks to Lillian Thorne for the awesome sig!
"You're going to die in here..."
RP's I am currently in
Name: Edwin Arkley
Known by: The Savage, The Lucky One
Conduit Abilities: Edwin has been gifted an impossible dexterity, and a sense of timing and calculation that could no longer be referred to as luck. This heightened observation skill, almost an urban translation of a beasts natural impulses to survive, has earned him the title "The Savage." (This translates into; an ability to sense large impending danger, such as an approach by dangerous or armed individuals, an ability to sense natural or unnatural disasters such as fire or a large attack such as a bombing). This, coupled with the unnatural effectiveness to which he uses bows, darts, throwns spears or axes and other primitive forms of hunting tool. This is also because of a subtle developed skill for controlling the flow of air, causing a necessary gust to guide a throw or arrow to its target. He is referred to by some as "The Lucky One", both for being the one who gets away, and the one who doesn't miss his mark.
Weapon of Choice: Things on hand, ranging from his bow or his hatchets (usually one of these is carried, if expecting trouble) to a dart lying on a table or other makeshift weapons.
Personality: Edwin enjoys playing Robin Hood ever since he "got the upper hand on Chicago". There are many people, who he either knew before he became the Savage or added on afterward that he cares for, and sends aid to in whatever form he can. This includes his family still living in Massachusetts. They still don't know the entirety of what has happened to him; only that he is alive and sends letters and gifts from time to time.
History: Before the blast, Edwin studied socieology at the University of Chicago. His favorite professor, Mr. Marklin had an amazing sense of humor and would often check in with Edwin for a quick banter. Marklin nonetheless made a distinct impression on Edwin, and the lessons he taught became more meaningful. Edwin found himself agreeing avidly with what professor Marklin taught, not just about socieology about about the world on a larger scale.
But this was all before everything changed.
After the blast, the University of Chicago continued to educate young Americans with the will to learn. But Mr. Marklin had never returned to the school grounds. In fact, no one had heard from him since the day of the blast. Edwin asked around the school, asked the professors, asked for phone numbers of family or other contacts. But all turned up dead ends, and Edwin never learned the nature of his professors disappearance.
Even now though, Edwin teaches Marklin's powerful lessons to the people of Chicago. That without the will to prevent evil, one has become accomplice to evil itself. That to not give to those in need is to starve those closest to you. That for good to be done, a good must be done for all, not just oneself. Chicago is his home, and he is hopeful for a bright future.

Name: Michael Cote, goes by Mickey or Mick.
Known by: N/A
*Stands at an even 6 feet
*Weighs 173 pounds
*Has a bit of muscle to him, but he's definitely no body builder
Conduit Abilities: Has an acute control of fire. He can create fire from thin air, and also control blazes that already exist. He mainly uses the fire for offense, setting enemies ablaze, and also uses it to make his punches more effective, 'wrapping' it around his fists.
Personality: Mickey always puts his friends first. He's going to focus and his and his group's survival even if it means ruining a few people's days. That's not to say he's necessarily a bad person- he's not going to be evil for the sake of being evil. And if helping others doesn't oppose on him or his friends, than he's not opposed to going out of the way to lend a hand. He's also very determined. If he has a goal, it will certainly get done. He's not the kind to run away, or back off of a fight. Mick is of average intelligence- he's not a genius, but he's certainly not stupid.
History: Micheal grew up in a low income household. He lived in a bad neighborhood, where you would often hear gunshots in the night. The kind of neighborhood where you try not to get noticed. He managed to avoid falling in with any of the gangs, mainly because of his strong bond with his family. He had a rather large one- mother, father, two sisters, a brother. His parents managed to get him into better public schools in the better part of the city instead of the local ones by filling out the right paperwork. He made good friends there, further contributing to the avoidance of the gangs and drugs that plagued his neighborhood.
He went through school with good grades, but didn't attend college after he went through high school. He instead moved away from his city, and went to Chicago. He worked different jobs, eventually saving up enough money (With some help from his parents, who have since worked their way to a better financial standing) to start his own small business, a pizzeria. And than, when everything started going good, the Conduits began to pop up throughout Chicago- gangs of them began to from, some used their powers for good, and one day, his powers began to manifest. It was an accident at first. The results were catastrophic. It started in the back room of his pizzeria. A pizza was cooking, but he needed it to cook faster. People were waiting. And instead of a small fire, a giant blaze erupted from nowhere, and burned his building down, along with a few neighboring businesses. The fire was officially deemed an electrical malfunction, but with the talk of Conduits abound, he knew what it was.
The fire was not a catastrophic lose. Insurance paid for most of the damages, and he saved up quite a bit of money. From that point on, he began to train so he could control his new found powers. He was soon able to control fire, create it, use it as a weapon. He knew that with Conduit gangs popping up, it would be useful. And soon, he got word of a group of Conduits forming. Not a gang seeking to steal and kill- a group. He heard they were meeting, he got a time, a location. Non-conduits treated him with mistrust- the common people were against them, and he knew he had to make new friends.
