Game of Thrones: A Change of Balance

Welcome to my Game of Thrones RP! Posts are expected at least once a day, at least a paragraph long. (Try to cap it around three paragraphs, please.) Proper spelling and grammar is also important. Partial knowledge of the series is essential.

    THE HOUSES:

    (A brief summary...)

HOUSE BARATHEON: A strong, and relatively new contender to the game. Robert Baratheon brought this house to glory when he defeated Aerys Targaryen on the Trident, breaking the Targaryen royal line, and ascending the Baratheons to kingship in King's Landing. Other important Baratheons include Lord Renly and Lord Stannis, Robert's brothers. Their sigil is the stag,

HOUSE LANNISTER: A powerful and rich clan based in Casterly Rock, House Lannister is headed by Lord Tywin, a firm ruler who is said to "shit gold." His daughter, Cersei Lannister, is married to Robert Baratheon, making her Queen. Rumors are abound that she has relations with her twin brother, Jaime Lannister. Other notable Lannisters include Tyrion Lannister, also known as "The Imp," a disfigured dwarf with powerful intellectual capabilities.

HOUSE TARGARYEN: This house is one of the most distinguished, as they swept into Westeros centuries ago from Dragonstone, riding giant dragons and leading great armies. They swiftly assumed control and held it until Robert Baratheon wrested the crown from Aerys. All Targaryens following that point are believed dead.

HOUSE STARK: The steadfast lords of the North, these clans rule from Winterfell, where they keep watch on the Wall, supporting the Night's Watch in defense from Wildlings and Others. Eddard Stark is currently the King's Hand.

HOUSE GREYJOY: The ironborn, hailing from the iron-islands. These once-great conquerors are unmatched at sea, where they worship the Drowned God. Their power has lessened recently, and they meekly serve Westeros, awaiting the time to rise again.

HOUSE TYRELL: They rule from Highgarden in the south. Not much else to say.

HOUSE MARTELL: Rulers of Dorne, the kingdom south of Westeros. They have a neutral relationship with Westeros, although many of their citizens are angry at the murder of Elia and her kin by Ser Gregor Clegane following the uprising. Ruled by Doran.

Those are SOME of the details on MOST of the major houses. For more, consult: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Houses_of_Westeros

    Name of House: Duneadane

    House Words: "Order Above Chaos"

    Area controlled: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Torrhen%27s_Square

Sworn to: House Stark (Previously House Targaryen before Treaty settled the dispute)

History of House: Originally a city state the house of Duneadane were prized warriors of the region and it's past lord Haralo of House Beckenbek before the Targaryens started their conquest. They kept the peace and put down rebellions when needed and proved effective and shrewd traders and diplomats. They grew despise those who love the horrors of war when Beckenbek slaughtered his own soldiers and people for fun. They planned a coup but before it could be let loose The Targaryens killed all of the Beckenbek family and demanded to have all it's houses swear faulty to them. The Duneadane who fought fiercely despite the inherit hatred of their liege and earned the spot of lord of Torrhen's Square. They quickly rebuilt and the King of the North attacked them soon after it was finished. They fought with their new liege lord content with how they ruled as well but were defeated by trickery as a corrupt gate captain opened it for the Starks. The Tagaryens consented to allow the Duneadane's loyalty to be transferred to house Stark as a gift of faith in them and the old ways. The Duneadane have proved loyal as in the past but discontent that their loyalties can be shifted away so easily. None the less they are well respected for their ways and their views as well as their skills in war. They serve the kingdom with all the faith of any other house and seek to uphold peace at all costs.

Characteristics of House: The Duneadane are normally born with black hair and brown eyes with strong features in men and willful women. They are known to be inherently good warriors and tacticians especially in forests and by sea. They are trained to be calm and respectful and not let their heads get in the way of their choices. They don't normally march to war unless it's a good reason and prefer to keep order in their own house. They despise anarchy and chaos due to their roots as woodland rangers or guards for their liege before rising to lordship. They are excellent swordsman and fight with bastard swords (hand and half swords) and shields preferably and have not many archers. They take a moment of silence every battle to mourn the loss of enemy and friend alike for the fallen are no longer enemies.

    Notable members:

    • Lord Paul Duneadane - Current head of House Duneadane and wields a bastard black sword (The handle, cross guard, and blade were dyed or painted black and has a Onyx Pommel) by the name of Order that was passed down from the start of their line and its origins are unknown only that it's made of Valyrian steel. He is known for his decisive strategies and policies as well as governing his hold faithfully and well. He has a respect for both the Houses his has served. He is a tall man with short flat military style black hair and dark brown eyes standing at six feet two inches tall and weighs 225 lbs. He dislikes archery and is known for being indifferent in politics saying what he thinks and bluntly saying what he believes is the best course. He is unmarried and has no heirs yet and is aged at twenty nine. Though still young at age 29 he is fairly wise and tries his best to honor his house. He is the only child of Lord Grendel and his mother Lady Seyria and has only two cousins Rexal and Sarenal. Both his parents are dead and thus he is the currently unopposed for his leadership role.
    • Ser Saxon Jeros - 'The Knight of the Sea' - A knight of the Duneadane house and is known as the "Sea's Bane" by many people as he is an accomplished naval commander serving many lords as a trainee and was one of the men responsible for making a small fighting force in terms of naval ships. He also was known fighting off bandits who attacked his lord's hold on horse back but was only a above average rider and not exactly a master. He carries a spear into battle with a back up short sword which he dislikes with great emotion but had to consent to carry it. and has short blond hair and blue eyes. He was originally a squire to Paul before becoming a Knight after exemplarily combat skills in tournaments and bandit fights. His skills are known as once in a life time when it comes to combat however he dislikes politics and stays far away from them as he can. He is an extremely loyal man almost getting himself killed to save his squad in an ambush near the wall when they were making a trip to give them more men. He has served faithfully as commander of all Duneadane forces and as the head of the Jeros House which is a sub house to the Duneadane. He is age 33 and stands at 5 foot eleven inches tall and weighs 232 lbs. He is a good dancer and ladies love his poems some call him a womanizer. The reason he was placed as a squire to a younger man was because he kept pleading to be able to show his worth and thus gained a strong friendship with his new lord.
    • Maester Kindal Henerhar - Very little is known about Kindal's past but it's assumed he grew up in the free cities and learned to become a maestar out of desperation. He was originally a merchant who had little luck supposedly as his story goes and has served three generations of House Duneadane. He is presumed to know magic and pyromancy but its unconfirmed if he does or not and he rivals the grand maester of House Targaryen in skill. He is quite and gives his council only when he thinks its best. Many are suspicious of him and he worships no gods saying that "A world as cruel as this has no gods." He stands at 5 feet six inches and has a long white beard and silver eyes his age is 68 years old. He is highly intelligent but ugly and wizened. However despite his old age he only barely uses his walking stick to move along. He is an exceptionally good politician but his days are of youth are long behind him and refuses to go near a battlefield unless his young lord is also going in which he always accompanies him.

    The Thorn and the Rose

    Work in Progress

Name: Aemon and Aiyana Tyrell - The Thorn and the Rose
    Age: 19
    Location: High Garden

    House History

Quote Originally Posted by Wiki of Ice and Fire

Additionally, if they call the fleets of their bannermen the Redwynes, the lords of the Shield Islands, and the coastal lords, they can command a navy that equals if not surpasses the royal fleet.
Highgarden is an ancient seat of rule and the heart of chivalry in the Seven Kingdoms; the Tyrells style themselves 'Defenders of the Marches' and 'High Marshals of the Reach', and traditionally, they have been Wardens of the South. Their sigil is a golden rose on a green field, and their words are "Growing Strong."[1] Members of the family tend to have curly brown hair and brown or golden eyes.
    Appearances

Personal History: The younger siblings of the current Lord Tyrell, these two are night and day, they hold much favor with the Lord. Having been born from a much celebrated union between their late father and his second wife, Valia of Dorne, the birth of the two brought peace to the Reach. Having always known their places in life these two have known no burden and seek only to further Highgarden. Beloved by the people Aemon and Aiyana have known a life of privilege and yet covet life beyond the Reach. Their relationship is complex and extreme.

Aemon is gruff, manly and has been taught all things war. He is a Knight, Envoy and his brothers trusted confidante.
Aiyana is ladylike, composed and devoted to the Seven. Darling of the Garden she is more then she appears.
This is my fav Roleplay that I'm playing right now. Great writers and zombies. what more could you ask for?

    Name of House: House Highwind

Place of Origin/Current Home: Resides within the Eyrie, at Highwind Hall.

House History: House Highwind is a relatively new house, made of young knights who proved their valor in battle and earned a lordship within the safe valley of the Eyrie. Formally, the house is headed by Olivar Arryn, an elderly man of little repute, but most of the decisions are made by Grif Highwind, a younger man. Although they lack a standing army, House Highwind plans to seize control of the Eyrie from the young, sickly and most likely mad "Lord Robert." Highwind currently mobilizes in secret to capture Robert and Lysa Tully and unite the Eyrie under their banner for a brighter future.

    Personal History:

Olivar Arryn: As a young man, Olivar was raised to be a maester at the Citadel in Oldtown. However, at the age of 26, he grew bored of his career and left Oldtown with dreams of becoming a knight. After proving his valor in several battles he was knighted by Jon Arryn in the Eyrie. Since then, history has forgotten him, and he is content to sit in his solar and read. He is currently four-and-sixty years old. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...RT8k7R3y-28TKQ

Grif Highwind: This dashing young man is both the brains and the brawn behind House Highwind, as well as the leading figure in it's representation. Grif is one-and-twenty, a tall young man with green eyes and silvery hair. He is sought after by many of the ladies of the Eyrie and the surrounding lands. So far he is unmatched by sword, and the sword he wields is "Hurricane", of green-white Valyrian Steel. He seeks to end Lord (not king) Roberts tyranny and bring unity to the Vale. http://www.renders-graphiques.fr/ima...der_Rasler.png

Name: Lord Rodryck Elmen, The Laughing Boar

    Name of House: Elmen

Place of Origin/Current Home: Overwood Keep

House History: House Elmen is a small, almost irrelevant house that has pledged to act as wardens of the Summering Wood, one of the largest and wildest patches of forest in Westeros. Legends say that the founds of House Elmen were fathered by First Men who lay with children of the forest. Traditionally, they stay neutral in inter-House conflicts, pledged to serve the Crown no matter who actually wears it. The men of House Elmen are knights in title alone; rather than plate, they were boiled leather and rather than armoured cavalrymen they are rangers, with arrows instead of lances.

Personal History: Rodryck Elmen is a tall, powerfully built man nearing his fortieth summer. As a boy, he was made a ward to House Duneadane, with Lord Grendel as his foster father and the infant Paul Duneadane as a foster sibling. When he was first made ward to Duneadane, Paul had not been born and would not be for several years, thus leaving Rodryck almost alone for several years. He was raised as if heir of Duneadane, groomed in riding, swordsmanship and diplomacy until a blood scion came along. When Rodryck was fifteen - and Paul six - he was called back to Overwood Keep to assume the mantle of Lord Elmen with the death of his father, Lord Marwick. He found himself somewhat unready to rule Elmen due to the differences between the two houses, forcing him to rely heavily on his maester for council for the first few years. He wedded a Frey woman as part of a political alliance at his maester's bidding, and came to love her after a fashion. She gave him sons and daughters aplenty until she died last month, in childbirth.

    Sigil:

Anything else you feel necessary: Rodryck has the so-called 'green sight'; he believes his dreams are sometimes symbolic visions of the future.

    Name: Rolyn Hightyde

    Name of House: Hightyde

Place of Origin/Current Home: Great Wyk

House History: The house of Hightyde pays allegiance to House Merlyn of Great Wyk Isle. The house holds a single port accompanied by a modest keep with one tower, where it builds longships, the house’s main source of income (often traded goods instead of coin) other than raids. Surrounding the keep is a town (~1500 population) of Hyghtyde folk.
Often, house Hightyde will raid westeros for timber to build its longships so it can be said each ship was built by paying the iron price. House Hightyde also holds one galley, for the use of transporting raided lumber.
The house words: Roll Tyde! (I couldn’t resist)

Personal History: Rolyn Hightyde holds to the ways of the Drowned god. He is twice drowned. The first time he was drowned was as a young man when he joined the Damphair and folowed him for two years learning the ways of the Drowned god. The second time he drowned was when he took his first command as captain. Rolyn has three (living) trueborn sons by his rock wife and eight (living) bastard sons from five saltwives. Seven of his living sons have been drowned and captain a longship (2 trueborn, and 5 baseborn). Once the remaing shipless sons come of age, they will be drowned and if the Drowned god deems them worthy, they will have a ship.

Sigil: Battle Axe with a Sea Serpent coiling up it on a black over blue background

    Anything else: TBD

    Name: Crippen Snow

    Name of House: Bastard (Elmen)

    Place of Origin/Current Home: Highgarden

House History: Crippen is an unacknowledged bastard, of Elmen by blood but with the name Snow because he was born in the North. He will likely not inherit a manse nor does he have any right of succession.

Personal History: When Rodryck Elmen was ward at Torrhen Square, he was still a man with a man's needs and so he sired a bastard on one of the castle maids. The boy was born in the castle, but almost as soon as he was old enough to survive away from his mother's teat, he was given over to the castle Maester for education - always best to keep an eye on a bastard, in case he got ambitious in later life. To that end, the boy was sent to study and become a maester and has been recently assigned in Highgarden to serve, study and forge more links for his chain. Currently, he is seventeen years old and studies in the Citadel in Oldtown, but often has cause to come to the castle as part of his training. Thus far he has three links in his necklace - black iron for ravenry, copper for history and silver for the healing arts. He is no longer a novice, but an acolyte, though he will not be a true Maester until his chain has enough links to be worn around his neck fully with one link for each metal.

    Sigil: None.

Anything else you feel necessary: Like his father, Crippen has the green sight. Unlike his father, he has the wisdom to interpet his dreams...
