    Typical roleplaying mechanics here?

What is commonplace for roleplays here?

I get a little uncomfortable with SUPER free-form roleplays. I am quite used to the DM handling all NPC interactions, and I like it like that; gives all the characters and the story the flavour desired by the creator, and it tastes better than when everyone throws in all of their own ingredients. Is that usually the case in the guild?

Also, what is (usually) the minimum length requirements for posts in advanced roleplays? I like writing a paragraph, maybe two per post. But...Not an essay, and not just a quick blurb.

Anything else I should be aware of?

You'll find that its really, really hard to handle all interactions in post by post. Not to mention overly convoluted. That only works IRL or over chats because you can get a quick answer, you think on your toes and the responses end up beingg shorter. To force that upon a player in a forum environment would be inane and quite frankly counter productive and stifling others creativity, I suggest you start to either get used to it or find a IRC playgroup wich would probobly suit you better. This is obviusly my opinion from my experience mostly, but forum RP's have a fdeffierent focus. its about collaborative storytelling rather then a GM deciding everything. Different mediums you see.

Yeah the forum games are different beast compared to the tabletop games unless you're running one on the forum but that's not the focus. Also while disagreeing on the stifling creativity part, what he said is true. Trying to control all the NPC chatter is going to be a hassle unless you're in a very small group game. Played a game where a dude did that with his posts having sections for each regions players were in, didn't last long.

Also two paragraphs is fine for every section above free which is roleplaying chatroom without the realtime

It depends on what you want out of it.

We have role plays that vary in all senses here.

We have ones heavily built upon numerical systems (like Nation role plays), and others which tend to go free form.

So, really, it's what you want out of it and on a case-by-case basis.
