    Tower of God RP

Lately I’ve been interested in doing an RP based off the manwha Tower of God by SIU. Even if you haven’t read it, I’d be willing to answer any questions and it won’t be hard to learn it as you go.

    A brief overview:
Basically, the world of ToG consists of a massive tower with more than a hundred floors each the size of an American Continent and trillions of residents of all shapes and sizes. The tower is divided into three main sections, the massive Outer Tower where residents typically live their lives, the Inner Tower where Regulars live and take tests, and the Middle Area which connects the floors and only Rankers are permitted to freely travel through. Frequently, talented people, called ‘Regulars’, from all over the tower are constantly gathered by a mystical guardian known as Headon and sent to the second floor where they take tests to be given the right to move on up to the next floor by a guardian, growing stronger the higher they go. It is said that reaching the top of the tower will grant any wish, though the highest anyone has ever reached is Floor 134. Anyone who reaches that floor is ranked depending on their performance and abilities and given the title of ‘Ranker’ which brings with it immense fame and riches. The chances of a regular becoming a ranker are said to be 1 or 2 out of tens of millions.

Battles in the tower are typically fought in teams (but 1v1 and sparring matches are not uncommon) and all regulars are assigned positions which represent their role in the team. The main fighting position typically specializing in mid to close range combat that lead the team into battle while receiving support from other positions is the Fisherman. The second position, the Spear Bearer normally specialize in ranged combat that involves throwing, supporting the frontline by either putting pressure on or destroying the enemy from the rear and also tend to possess immense pure physical strength. The third position, the Scout usually specializes in either separating from the party to gather information or providing combat support to the frontlines. The fourth position, the Light Bearer is a backline position that uses floating devices called Lighthouses to collect and share information among the team and light up the surrounding area, though there are more advanced offensive capabilities as well. Since most battles in the tower are fought in the dark, a Light Bearer is a vital position to any team and they tend to be tacticians who coordinate the fight. The final position is the Wave Controller which is basically the wizard/sage/magic user of the team, specializing in manipulating a substance known as Shinsoo that fills the tower and allows its residents to breath in order to achieve a large variety of effects. Wave Controllers are a very versatile position, but are also very rare. You don’t have to pick out a position right away if you’re unsure which to go with since they aren’t assigned until a bit of the way through.

As for how the RP would go, my idea is that it would be similar to the 2f arc of the manwha in that a large number of recently chosen regulars are teleported onto a large field where they must compete with each other in a large free for all test, forming teams of 3 at the end and then required to go through several more tests together until they are confronted by the test administrators and assigned their positions. Afterwards, the regulars will spend some time in a school-like environment learning the basics of their positions under experienced rankers, getting to know one another better. At the end of the classes, the top-graded regulars of each position are allowed to continue on to take the 2nd floor's final test and then continue on up to the next floor. It would probably take place a few hundred/thousand years before the start of the series.

Tower of God is a very action-oriented series, though its smart plots, character development/relationships, and extremely fun/creative tests are what really make it stand out and the reasons why I think it would make for a fun RP. To start with, we would rp as regulars meeting up, conflicting, and eventually forming a group on the 2nd floor, trying to make it through the tests together. From the 3rd floor on, tests become repeatable (unlike the 2nd where if you fail you're out) and regulars are free to take tests and continue up at their discretion. From that point on, we could form a team based around a particularly strong regular (possibly a Zahard's Princess, if anyone is interested in playing one) as they continue up the tower on their journey to become rankers.

Anyone familiar with Tower of God and willing/capable can be a co-GM since the goal would be to get a decent-sized party and we’ll be divided into groups of 3 at first, though the groups can still interact with each other. The accepted characters might have to be limited a bit since we’ll need to have a fairly balanced number in each position and 2f regulars typically won’t start with any crazy powers (though they can be developed later on). Anyone interested?

Never heard of it but it sounds somewhat interesting at least from the aspect of the physics breaking towers

I've read it, and it is a great manwha to RP about. I'd be interested. Send me a PM when you have an OC thread and a few other people. ^^

    Good to hear!

I've been talking to a couple other people who are interested and went ahead and made an OOC thread here. Check it out and give it a chance if it interests you. I'm open to feedback, so let me know if you have any questions or issues and I'll be glad to take them in mind.

That's the general idea, yes; though other plotlines I have in mind could be developed along the way if people are interested to keep things fresh.
