    Elba: Fantasy Nation RP OOC

    The World of Elba

Elba, a world of fantasy and magic. Inhabited by numerous races, some classic to the fantasy genre canon, others more unique creations. A world lifted in glory by triumph and conquest, but also plagued with political fighting and all-out war.

Step right up, don't be shy. These are the times to lead a mighty kingdom to eternal glory, or perhaps die trying.

Sorry about the odd proportions. It was the only way it'd let me upload.

Step right up and make a kingdom.

    Character Sheet:

    Nation Name:
    Race:
    Location:
    Political Structure:
Capital City: Name and General Location (I'll add it to the map)
    Leader: (if applicable)

General Info: provide a paragraph or so describing where your kingdom is now. How are they economically? How are the crops? Trade? Are they worried about another race's military ambitions? Have they any general goals for themselves?

After you fill out the sheet, I'll add your kingdom to the map. Try and choose a general area specified by race on the map, although if you have a compelling reason as to why your kingdom should be made up of a race not typical to that area, I'll be glad to let it slide.

I'll try and make them of good size, although if you'd like to make your kingdom deliberately small, that's fine.

    Guidelines

No god-modding. You can't take over enemy kingdoms just by saying so.

Interaction is key. Don't just build your kingdom alone. You will need to trade, forge alliances, conduct battles, etc. Feel free to use backdoor channels (PM) to do more shady diplomacy, although for most things, I'd appreciate it if you posted enough information in the IC.

Be realistic. If you are raising an army for warfare, you're going to need a way to feed, clothe, arm, and transport them. This does not come out of nowhere. If you live in an area with few crops, I'm going to be curious how ten thousand men are being fed.

Try and post consistently and frequently. However, do not speed post. I'd rather not see the same name every other post. Give others time to react to your own moves. If you fall into posting oblivion and I don't here from you, I will not hesitate to transfer your kingdom to someone else. If your going to be away, post in the OCC so we know you haven't been abducted by river trolls.

And finally, tell your friends, co-workers, comrades, plumbers, parents, siblings, or home invaders! This works much better with a lot of players.

Here is mine. I'll be leading a tribe of courageous Giants.

    Nation Name: Baramul
    Race: Giants
Location: Midway up on the Giants Peninsula in The North.
Political Structure: Fiefdom, led by a Giant King.
Capital City: Arbodol, in the north.
    Leader: Heinren the Young

General Info: Baramul is a prosperous Giant kingdom, although not without its woes. It lost many Giants in the Great War, but Heinren the Old (father of the current King) managed to unite a number of them under a single banner. His son, Heinren the Young, now controls the kingdom, and has united the Giants into a single standing army. However, he is not unaware of the political situation throughout the lands, and has tried to cultivate relationships with the Humans and Elbans in order to secure some safety for the Baramulanders.

    Nation Name: Thirrmod

    Race:
    Humans

    Location:
The Human Island In The North Eastern Corner Of the Map. If Possible, The Entire Island, If Not, Then The Northern Half Of The Island. (Population Of Two Hundred Thousand Needs A Large Area)

    Political and General Structure:
Thirrmod is the land of the Longbow, it is considered an utter disgrace for any man to not be able to hit the bulls eye at a hundred yards. The range of a normal longbow is two hundred yards, while a Thirrmodian Longbow has a range of two hundred and fifty yards, and is famous for being able to pierce plate armour from a distance of one hundred yards, not any further, otherwise the force of the shot would be decreased.
It is very easy for Thirrmod to levy up a huge army, as pretty much all of its population – men and women – are experts, if not masters, in the use of the Longbow. The biggest trade here (other than being in archery competitions) is longbow-making, as Thirrmodian longbows are greatly demanded in Thirrmod.

There isn’t much of a class system in Thirrmod, which is strange for a nation with a population of two hundred thousand or so, as everything is decided with the bow, if you come over One hundred thousandth in the annual archery competition, then you go and work on the farms for the year. If you come between fifty thousandth and one hundred thousandth then you get to choose any trade and become a merchant. If you come from one thousandth to fifty thousandth then you join the standing army – making the Thirrmodian army a huge 49,000 men and women – if you come between tenth and a thousandth, then you instruct the young in the archery schools, a job which is very highly paid and respected, while the first to tenth become members of the Council of the Bow and rule Thirrmod until the next annual competition. It is a very simple but very effective system, centered on becoming better at using the bow to get any higher in the society.

The huge army is also maintained by the one hundred thousand farmers working in the fields, it's an even split of half farming and the other half doing whatever else must be done. It must be noted that the Thirrmodian army has nothing but Longbowmen in it, each and every one of the 49,000 soldiers wields a Thirrmodian Longbow, and has done so since birth.

There is however, one person who is exempt from this rule, known as the Senzero, he is trained from a young age in literature, history, languages, archery (of course) and many others, and sits as the head of the Council of the Bow, giving advice and sometimes denying the Council permission to do things which can have chaotic consequences, if the Council insists however (which has never happened) then the Senzero cannot stand in their way. Each Senzero gets a child with potential when he reaches his fortieth year, so as to train the next Senzero. Should a Senzero die earlier than expected, then one of the Councilors takes his place until a new Senzero is trained.

    Capital City:
    The City of Lonrrow

    Leader:
Unofficially, it is the Senzero, as he holds great power and sway over the Council of the Bow. Officially it is the ten Councillors of the Bow, who also hold great sway should they insist to unite against the Senzero.

General Info: Thirrmods economic situation is steady, and at a rise, the Thirrmodian merchants have been becoming much more confident in recent years, and Thirrmodian Longbows are demanded from any nation with a military wanting a semi-decent ranged force. Thanks to the rich soil, crops rarely ever fail, although recently their has been less surplus, and so not as much food has been exported as usual, this has caused income from selling food to other nations drop slightly, and some people have had to cut back food spending due to the increased demand and limited supply.
Having a pretty weak navy, Thirrmod is a very exposed island, although its Longbowmen are ferocious and have never been beaten, this cannot continue for long however, what with the advancements in smithing and all, soon their will be armour which not even the legendary Thirrmodian Longbow may not be able to pierce through. Thirrmodians also suffer the misfortune of not having a single Elban amongst them, making them vulnerable to other nations which may have Elbans in their ranks. The Senzero has been pushing the Council to find a way to persuade some Elbans to make Thirrmod their home, many longbow makers also think that with Elbans, the Thirrmodian bow can be enhanced to have even greater range and power, they have not been successful in this, but they persist.

    Nation Name
    The Republic of Cyperia

    Race
Humans mainly, with Mantor being common mercenaries and Kreel being a minority. Dwarves are rare but can sometimes be found in Cyperia.

    Location
Central Elba. (North of the Mantor place with the bridge and south of the Elban area.

    Political Structure
Ruled by a "council" or "senate" of sorts elected by the people every 10 years or so.
This council or senate make the decisions of the nation, and usually pass bills by voting.

    Capital City
    Gloria

    Leader
The leaders of the nation are generally referred to as "The Senate".

    General Info
Economically, Cyperia is a thriving nation. The capital are filled with merchant peddling their goods out on the streets, and hums with life from craftmen and workers hammering away on their craft. Beggars and the poor usually crowd to the bigger cities and towns in search for a meal and a coin or two. Out on the farmlands, the nation is kept fed with rich farmlands from the central soil of central Elba, and fish from the sea and many rivers and lakes found in Cyperia.
With merchants going far and wide, Cyperia experiences a lot of trade, and is not unfamiliar to other races visiting to trade or the like. Although thanks to the heavy trading in and out of Cyperia, bandits are common out in the forests and hillslands, often raiding caravans. Because of this, mercenary-work is very common in Cyperia.

The Senate keeps the nation going, however many senators are power-hungry, or paranoid. As such, a heavy military has been raised in Cyperia, meaning weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, siegesmiths and masons thrive with their craft in this military nation.
They protect their borders with castles and walls, and to the south they have a fortress guarding the bridge-pass.

Yeah, I'd like to have at least six people to begin. Ten would be ideal. We could always have others join. I'm going to leave room for future kingdoms/expansions/etc.

    Character Sheet:

    Nation Name: Mezetine

    Race: Elbans

Location: Top left corner of the Elba (The Top Left) area, the protrusion into the ocean.

    Political Structure: Monarchy

Capital City: Confracta, (At the tip of the protrusion at the top left)

    Leader: Zianni Alvise

    General Info:

Mezetine is the nation of inventors, thinks, and creators. Their economy is strong from years of producing the highest-quality magical tools and products. Additionally, all sorts of springs and gears are sold in the market meaning easy access to materials for the engineers who create their miracles. The crops are plentiful due to the large expanses of land set aside by King Zianni, many engineers were hired that day to increase the harvest rate and quality of the goods grown there. Unfortunately, due to being set near the ocean they have little access to precious materials such as Gold, Silver, and other metals.

Trade is easy to come by as many Caravans find themselves in need of goods that will awe those in the east, or those generally known as the Humans. While they share many traits with other races and a wide understanding of their cultures, Mezetine chooses to ignore each nation as to keep a level stance on each relationship. There is the good and there are the bad. Mezetine acts as a Peace-Breaker vowing unstoppable war upon those who attempt to conquer the innocent. For who would dare stand against Mezetine during it's Engineer Big-Boom?

The Mezetine Goal taught to all of age is to improve and research what has already been created. Or overall, the pursuit of improving the basics.

    Nation Name: Serenia
Race: Serpent-Men (I assume I was allowed these despite these not being in the OP.)
Location: They are on the the island beneath the "Kreel".
    Political Structure: Pharoah (Absolute Monarchy)
Capital City: Thakeus (IN the center of the island)
    Leader: Pharoah Thakk'asha

    General Info:
Serenia is built on a fertile river that runs from south to north on the island. They are surrounded with lush rain forests, and they have a thriving and abundant agrarian society. They know how to cut rubies and gemstones, and have ancient monuments called "Pyramids" throughout the jungles. They possess great wealth, abundant crops and advanced metallic tools to help them fight. They also possess great sorcerers and preists throughout the land. Their weaknesses come from the fact that they are not popular among other races. They are uniquely socially inept in dealing with other cultures than their own. They are tired of having too many conflicts with their neighboring Kreel pirates which are hardly any distance to the north.

    Notes:
Astronomy in Serenia is impressively advanced, on par with the Maya. The Serenia are a mix of Cambodian/Khmer, Mayan and Egyptian cultures.
