Jurassic Park OOC Thread (A RP 65 Million Years in the Making)

On June 11th, 1993, an incident at the InGen research and resort island Jurassic Park left multiple workers and civilians dead. While most information of this incident has been closed to the public, including the actions of the Costa Rican military, questions still emerge. How did the park undergo such a catastrophic system failure, and who were all involved in the incident.
Those involved included respected author and paleontologist Alan Grant, paleobotanist Ellie Sattler, Mathematician Ian Malcolm and InGen Founder and CEO John Hammond. However, reports have been released that other cases also occurred on the island, dealing with a group of park workers and civilians that survived on the island from June 11th to June 13th.

Welcome to Jurassic Park

This roleplay takes place as a story separate from the stories seen in Jurassic Park the film and Jurassic Park The Game. The characters that appear in this roleplay are completely new and original, and are park workers, family enjoying an early stay at the park, or investors coming to visit the park. These characters are all lodged in condominiums located on the west side of the island, only a mile from the visitors center, and a short distance from the standard lodging: the Safari Lounge.
While events of the movie and game will affect our characters (i.e. the power outage from the movie; power returning to the park, mercenaries arriving and dying on the island) our character’s journey will take them across the island, through the park, and to places unexplored and unseen before.

The reasons the characters are at the park range from bringing family to have a weekend vacation, or for an investor looking to dump money into a new world wonder. Each of these characters has their own reasons for coming to Jurassic Park, but each all have a shared goal: survive and escape the island.

The Story

The story will follow the characters as they attempt to avoid dangers in their way through the park. Of course the first course of action will be to attempt to get to the visitor’s center; but problems will occur, of course. The early course of the story that I have planned out does bring our characters from the fictional beach resort section of the island (an area not in the book or movie, but instead a planned area seen in posters in the film) to the Safari Lodge, which was never ventured to in the films. The main idea of the story is to create tension and fear, as unarmed and fairly weak humans attempt to navigate the dangers of a park where all of its specimens are let loose, and left to hunt and kill as they please.

Any dinosaur seen in the film or the Tell-Tale game are fair game to appear. Also, dinosaurs mentioned in extended materials are also fair game.
Places

The Jungle Cruise, the aviary, possibly the bone shaker, the safari lodge; places not seen in the movie are areas I would like to move characters to. Especially once the characters are broken up into smaller groups, finding different areas and landmarks will be interesting.
Maintenance shafts, scaffolding, unfinished areas; all will be important to human characters. Being able to climb and reach areas unobtainable or hidden from the more dangerous predators adds to one’s survival.
People

While we will not be interacting directly with characters like Alan Grant or Gerry Harding, their actions will bear merit on the adventure. Once Ellie Sattler re-activates the power on the afternoon of June 12, things will get very interesting for the characters.
Our characters are not protected by plot armor, however. Due to the danger of the park, death lurks around every bush and corner. This means that roleplayers are allowed to have multiple characters, with the express knowledge that if their character makes a mistake or a bad decision, they may not escape.
