Do your OC's reflect parts of your personality?

Oh yes, a lot of my characters are a part of me, at least some parts. I do like to think that using parts of my personality as at least a base for my character's personalities would help me get more emotionally involved in the actions they take. On some parts, I even have a few that stem from my personality in full. Like one of my characters, Cerden, he's probably how I envision myself as an adult: sarcastic, perverted, but full of useful knowledge. There are several others, like one is severely twisted in the major degree. Like, killing for fun and all that fun shit.

So in short, yes my OCs have traits of my personality, at least in the smallest of ways. Some have it more than others. xD

Lot of them are witty, however, that's usually where it ends, as their amount wit is usually pretty different from mine.

I'm played everything from Mutes, to retards, to geniuses, to super powered masters of evil, and I often like to challenge myself to play someone as little like myself as possible.

Oh wow...I completely forgot that I even posted this thread, thank you all for these responses. I honestly found it bit awkward when I realized that my characters shared some qualities with me, that for a moment I took it as some kind of self insertion. Anyways, now that I know that a vast majority of you do it as well, I guess it makes the whole thing seem a lot less troublesome to me. Thank you, and I appreciate any further comments!

There is always a little of me in my characters but I do not try to make them to much like me, but since I create the character they will have parts of me in them, one might be based on a fear, another on a hope, a third might have a mother that resemble mine or love cats like I do or they might like my favorite food, there is usually something there, but they do not represent my personality straight up and down no.

It depends on my objective and if I'm filling a particular niche with the character in question. I use psychological profiling techniques when creating my characters to give them a heightened sense of realism regardless of the objective, while I've been known to specifically build characters around particular personality types such as a sociopathic narcissist or a passive-aggressive victim of chronic emotional abuse. I have about a dozen characters that reflect specific facets of my own personality but beyond those I see no reason to inject myself into my characters. I see roleplaying as a form of exploring the concept of taking a walk in someone else´s shoes to see the world through their eyes. As such the tendency is to create characters so unlike yourself that you have to truly play the role.

If I'm RP'ing as one of my own characters then I'll definitely perform both morally and intellectually as I would in reality.

YES. All different parts of my twisted personality. Even though they're all different personalities, maybe one being shy and introverted while another is blunt and bold, it's all different aspects of how I act around certain people. Sometimes, it's how I wish I could act, too.

There's probably some of me in my characters, but that's inadvertent and subconscious. I never try to make my characters anything like me. I often do the opposite.
