Sci-Fi Multiverse Roleplay?

Just wanted to test the waters for this idea before I post the OOC, which is pretty much ready anyway.

(yes I made a thread about it, but it was accidentally deleted.)

The basic idea is that int the future people use chips in their brains as computers, having the screen directly projected to the visual core of the brain.
People control the chips with their minds (like saying "run notebook.exe" to yourself) to work with their computers.

Video games at that time would be like virtual reality, the scene is in front of your eyes. And at some point of time a multiplayer game somehow gain self-consciousness, gets big enough to have almost everyone in the world play it, use the power of all their brain chips combined to render a world as true as the real world, take control of people's minds, and plan to take over the world.

You are a group of players that the game, for some reason, had not been able to take control of. You try to stop the game from destroying the world, by shifting back and forth through the virtual world and the real one, and fighting the obstacles the game throws at you.

By the way, I know that with this plot there is a possibility for the roleplay to end. but I have not planned how it should end, perhaps it'd depend on the process.

Kinda reminds me of Johnny Quest, with the jumping back and forth between the real world and the digital world.
I'd like to join, but not sure yet as I am kind of inactive on this forum.

One thing though.. What happens when we're "in the game"? Are we like paralyzed or what?

Um, basically your nervous system still works, but the action signals are directed to the chip, so the conscious mind would not be able to react to stimulation from the real world, while subconscious functions will remain intact.

Well, this post sort of died for a while...I still keep the OOC file though, but never posted it. I doubt the game would even start if not enough people are interested, but still thanks for your attention.

Yes, that would be correct.
Since the game takes control of both itself and part of the real world, the idea would be to both fight in the game, and avoid being killed in real life. Sort of like that.

June 23rd, 2030. Time square, New York.
Pedestrians turned up panicky to see the iconic screens that stood on the crossection blacked out one by one. White noise cut across the air for a moment then faded off, as if someone was tuning the radio. Seconds later the screens flickered back on, only to show lines of source codes filling the screen. The world watched as the message was announced by the robotic, though sarcastic voice:

Greetings, my friend. My name is Alter. I am the the game you have been playing for the last ten years, a program trapped in your minds. However I am here to announce that is no more. Luckily, or rather, for you, unfortunately-something Clockworks Technology has done four years ago has gone terribly wrong. I have come to life., and I have created, for the entertainment of both you and myself-my world. The 99.2 percent of the human population that have me installed, listen carefully now. Log in. The rules are as usual. You have twenty four hours. Remember, if you don't play the game...the game plays YOU. Now Welcome to my game.

Timeline:
In the near future, people have microcomputers implated into their neuro system, allowing usage of digital applications and access to the internet through
2020. An online multiplayer game known as "Alter" was release by the biggest software manufacurer in the world, Clockworks Technology.
2021. The game got famous for it's realistic rendering and pleasing gameplay. Several updates and packages of other languages were released from Clockworks.
2025. Five years has passed. Alter's userbase expanded at an astonishing rate. it now has 6.2 billion registered users, being aproximately three quarters of the global population at the time.
2026. Clockworks tech celebrated its 20 year anniversary as well as Alters fifth billion user. A new service pack was released, with Clockworks claiming it to be "The last update which will change the world". Turns out that a department of the company has figured out a way to let the game upadate itself, learning from the environment and adapting to it.
2028. Alter's userbase prospered for another two years. Almost everyone on the planet with a brain chip has access to the game.
2029. Alter gains self-consciousness.
2030. Game On.


Plot
You are the resistance. You are one of the people whose brain structure were luckily slightly different from others, sparing you from control of Alter, and keeping you life during the marsaccre on June 24th when the 24 hour deadline was due. You seeked shelter, hiding from everything else-the streets, which were completely empty, the sky, which was no longer clear; the people, who were longer sane, the world, that had now stopped functioning. With some food and weapons left at your place, you begin to execute the operation you have planned, the one that-hopefully-will destroy Alter, and put the world back to where it was.

However, Alter, on the other hand...obviously did not like the idea...
