Short Biography:
Samara is a Martian-born; having been raised on Mars for all of her youth. Her family did not take as great a hit as other inhabitants of Mars did, and remained financially stable well after Samara's childhood. Despite this, the Jensens held no strong allegiance to the UEC, as a series of political issues created a rift between it and Mars. The greatest event contributing to the tension was the UEC's occupation of Mars when a UEC vessel was reported as being under attack by ships of Martian design before communication was lost. The deployment of UEC soldiers on Martian soil created an unpopular sentiment towards the UEC throughout the planet. Relations were strained even further, when Mars was hit hard by waves of increasing taxes and economic demands. The Jensens decided no longer to put their faith in the UEC - "A Martian government for Martian people," was a saying of Samara's father, and she grew to share his feelings towards the UEC and its control over Mars.
While attending a Separatist meeting in a more remote section of her city, Samara met a resistance member by the name of Drak Orpheus - a friend of her father's, who also happened to be an ex-UEC enforcer. During the gathering, Drak revealed his membership in the Ultorian Cohortis, a pirate faction with a strong Martian influence. Drak was determined to use his position in the faction to help chisel at the UEC's foundation in order to aid the cause of the Separatists. Samara had received military-grade training when she had sought a job as a security officer, protecting property of Martian corporations. Unfortunately, she was denied after a more promising candidate earned her spot in the roster. Samara expressed interest in the Ultorian Cohortis, seeking to become like Drak and furthering the goals of the Separatists. Pulling some strings, Drak landed her a place in the organization.
While Samara had no real combat experience, Drak was very supportive of her and oversaw her training personally. It seemed unlikely she'd reach a position of prominence among the predominantly male, ex-military mercenaries, but she proved an aptitude for marksmanship, independence and a strong spirit which saw her through hours of physical and mental conditioning. Impressed with her progress, Drak pressed for her assignment to his own Special Operations Division and took her under his wing. Alongside another round of grueling tests, tougher competition and leadership courses, Samara nudged her way into A Team, to the surprise of her peers. Perhaps Drak had something to do with her favorable assignments - she'd certainly think so. Several years passed, and Samara had qualified to become a fully-fledged officer of the Ultorian Cohortis. A Team would be hers to command now, and she could start to involve herself more with the Separatist agenda.
