Thread: Idea for an Ultimate Majora's Mask RP

Idea for an Ultimate Majora's Mask RP

When I use the word Ultimate, I'm using it the same way as Marvel does with the whole alternate reality/universe thing going on. Anyone who has played the game knows that time travel (a loop centered around the same three day period to be exact) is the main staple of the story and during the game countless timelines are created with pretty much all of them leading to Clocktown being utterly destroyed and many of the the citizen's problems being solved or completely ignored. My main idea is to create an alternate reality (not a timeline) all together which is created by Link failing to retrieve his ocarina before the Moon crashes into Clocktown therefore negating any and all actions that would have been completed had he retrieved it (i.e. The whole game.)

In this alternate reality Ganondorf is still defeated by Link and Zelda (Dream team '98), the difference is that Navi never leaves young Link's side. The whole reason he began travelling through the lost words in the first place was to find her and then subsequently gets attacked by the masked Imp Kid who steals both his horse and instrument which results in his chasing the kid into the parallel world; this essentially didn't happen so he remains in Hyrule never to worry about the destiny of Clocktown. In the parallel world the Happy Mask salesman never comes into possession of the cursed mask, so the Imp Kid never has the chance to steal it. In a strange turn of events the world of Termina has somehow become more technologically advanced (only slightly), bladed weapons are still the primary choice for adventurers.

The Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay, and Ikana Canyon temples are discovered to be only a subset of even greater monuments, The southern swamp's territory has grown exponentially covering over 400 extra miles of terrain with a temple three times larger than Woodfall, the Northern mountains now extends even farther north to a dormant volcano still being studied, Great Bay passes over an imaginary line into what is currently being called "Dead West" for its chain of islands which are inhabited by spirits, and finally Ikana Canyon has expanded east to a massive crater.

This is just an idea, if enough people are willing to take part I'll get started on a main plot.

My interest as certainly been peaked. I'd love to be apart of this one.

Actually, the Skull Kid was the friend Link was looking for. After the credits, you get a cutscene showing a tree stump with a carving of Link and the Skull Kid playing together. So, Navi wasn't who Link was looking for, Skull Kid was.

Minor lore error put aside, I'd definitely be interested. Might there be crude firearms, sort of like the prototype pistol you get in Assassin's Creed II?
Duct Tape and Bullets Anthro zombie apocalypse RP. Always open!
Grand Journey: Tales of Adventure A reboot of another RP, done in memory of the GM, who was shot and killed on April 13th, 2013.
Starship Troopers: The Bug War An RP focusing on a Mobile Infantry outfit during the Bug War, set in the version of the Starship Troopers setting presented by Heinlein himself in the novel.
Transformers: The Red Storm's Rage Not mine, but it really needs people.

    I don't think so.

    Count me interested as well.
    Stay perky.

Awesome, I'm happy to see people were interested in this. The more I thought about this, the more I wanted to write it.

I've actually been playing Majora's Mask recently which is what inspired this idea. In the opening cut scene of the game when it talks about Link's personal quest there is a fairy ping right before it jumps to him being attacked. To back this up these websites, here and here state that his quest is to find Navi, but the second actually says "a fairy sound effect implies" he is searching for her. I'm not trying to call you out, I'm just trying to clarify I wasn't off base.

As far as firearms go, I'm going to stand at a firm no since even in the most advance technological age displayed in a Zelda title the best they could muster was a crossbow...and the gust bellows from skyward sword (even though it's the earliest time period of the series). The technology in this RP will more closely resemble "Twilight Princess" era Hyrule instead of "Ocarina of Time" era, so everything before and during that is fine.

Actually, Wind Waker had cannons, remember. And that timeline went on to have steamboats and trains. But it's your decision.

I forgot about that...I have the nasty habit of labeling non console follow ups as spin-offs, but, your right, the Wind Waker continuity has those. I was thinking more along the lines of becoming slightly more industrialized following TP's developments since chronologically TP took place right before WW.

So basically, this'll be between Twilight Princess and Wind Waker? That puts things into perspective, thanks. Looking forward to it!

To make sure I was correct about the technology I checked out the zeldapedia version of MM wikia and here is what I found for Termina technology-wise.

Termina has been shown to be more technologically advanced than Hyrule, possessing modern hallmarks such as rock bands, mayors, clocks, hotels, bars, tourist shops, lotteries, photography, motorboats, indoor plumbing, and even plans for space travel (as seen on a poster in the Bomb Shop). A notable example is of Great Bay Temple, with flashing neon lights and numerous water-powered machines.
Because Tatl mentions that Nejirons "smell of gun powder", this may mean that guns have been developed in Termina, or, because Bombs require gun powder to explode, she could simply be referring to the fact that Nejirons are explosive.

SO, I guess technically it would be closer to WW...I honestly thought it was behind not ahead of the actual canon storyline.
