sounds interesting =3 Can we potentially create our own monster types as well if we can balance em out properly? =3
So, this rp is gonna be about an MMORPG, with a twist that I've yet to see (although i did suggest it in another int check which I'm linking to to prove I suggested it) where instead of everyone playing a regular, boring old character and class from a list of boring races, we are combining the classes and races into one by having everyone play a monster instead of a regular character.
Each monster race has a set of skills and evolutions (class advancements) that change how each person can play their character. On top of this, there are three major stat types: strength, intellect, agility. Each has two sub categories
Strength
-Offensive power
-Defensive power
Agility
-Movement speed/dodge rating
-Attack speed/crit rating
Intellect
-Spell power/Spell crit rating
-Spell usage/Mana regen rating
Each race gets a high, medium, and low rating for each of the major categories. For a high rating, that class excels in both aspects of that specific stat, medium excels in one aspect of the stat, and low means they don't excel in any of the aspects. When I say excel, I mean those are the aspects they should build on for their specific race. For whatever stat your race is ranked as medium for, you must choose to build on only one aspect and leave the other alone to maximize potential.
Here's a list of the races
Werewolf = A warrior like race, werewolf have a natural affinity for physical combat, having a high strength rating, medium agility rating, and low in intellect rating. The werewolf can either be used to be the spear head of a group, rushing into battle first and taking the brunt of the force, or can be a malicious killing machine. Starting skills are:
-Blood claws = This skill causes bleeding damage to the next target it hits
-Track Scent = Allows the player to track any hidden enemies.
Humanoid Slime = A race of slime that have evolved above bestial level intelligence that have taken human form, thinking of it as a superior form. They have a medium intellect rating, medium strength rating, and medium agility rating. The slimes' abilities rely on speed, strength, and magic to be effective and versatile, but in exchange for being able to call from all three stats, they are like a jack of all trades, master of none. Starting skills are:
-Whip Lash = The slime extends a whip like tendril and slam their target hard for large physical damage
-Snare Gel = The slime immobilizes their target and also does a small amount of magic damage for 3 seconds
Elemental = A race of being comprised of one of the four elements of nature, they are being with high magic rating, differing agility and strength ratings. The water and wind elementals have a higher focus in agility than strength, and the fire and earth elementals have higher strength than agility. Each of the elementals have different starting skills but then their skills are the same with their respective elements as the damage source. Starting skills are:
Earth/Fire:
-Rock/Fire Armor = The elemental creates a layer of armor around them that lash out at enemies trying to hurt them for a hybrid of physical and magic damage.
-Rock/Fire Blast = The elemental sends out a blast of their elemental energy for magic damage
Water/Wind:
-Evaporate/Split = The elemental can separate it's body to avoid attacks for 3 seconds
-Water/Wind Strike = Using their speed, the elemental moves quickly in and out to deal a hybrid of magic and physical damage in a single strike.
Shadling = A race that resides in the darkness during combat, the shadling uses darkness to sneak up on enemies and escape if they are in over their head. They have high agility rating, medium intellect rating, and low strength rating. The starting skills are:
-Fade = The shadling fades into darkness for 5 seconds, unable to be seen or targeted unless marked by special skills (Track scent for example)
-Shadow Slice = The shadling teleports through shadows to strike an enemy from behind for double critical damage.
Soul = A soul that has yet to cross over to the next plane of living, they have the call of life and death energy at their whim to a certain extent. High intellect rating, medium strength, low agility. Starting skills are:
-Heal = The soul can heal 10% of an allies health
-Curse = The soul curses an enemy for 7% of the their health over 5 seconds.
These are the starting classes and as we delve further into the idea I'll work on more. I don't want to create a whole lore for nothing.
What I will reveal plot wise is that there is a special virus in the game that is unknown, said to change a player's mental design to make them believe they are the monster of their choice and cause them to wreak havoc in the real world. I'll explain more as we move on.

Definitely interested.
I was curious if our characters would have a measure of sentience capable of character development? I think I know where you're going with this, making my question a non-issue, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to ask.

This reminds me of SAO, so I'm definitely up for this. I feel as though the races are a bit limiting in some ways, but it isn't a major problem.
@Shoryu, you could send me a setup for a race and I'll decide if its okay or not.
@PaladinPaul, I'm not making "Leveling" a key focus to the rp, just that you need to understand what stats your character uses, and then focus your play style around that. IF you have high strength, be sure to play it like a bruiser, and same goes for the other stats
@Hawlin, They will have sentience as they are going to be player controlled.
@Oblivious, as I said to Shoryu, you could create your own race, and I do plan on adding more, I just wanted to get the int check up with a few of them. I plan on adding a summoner type, and probably a vampire type in the OOC, and maybe a few others.
@Pancake, awesome.

For those wanting to make a race, the setup is you must have either a stat rating of low, medium, and high or all three mediums. Then you must give an accurate description of how the race acts based on the stats rating, and then finally it must have two starting skills. I also want a list of ten more skills to use as players level.
Interested! Might work on a new monster type. I'll just wait to see if it picks up as I hate investing in RPs that don't come around.
Well, arena and nation rpgs are player controlled, although you'd get laughed at and have sand kicked in your face if you try to develop a character in most of those threads. My question wasn't on PC sentience, but rather, the capacity of their sentience to develop.
The fact that you didn't berate me for asking is enough of an answer for me. ^^;
~Still interested.
Is there a character sheet, or are we literally rping as sentient mmo mobs?

There will be character sheets, the monster races work as classes pretty much, and the world will be where human variations are enemies, dungeons would be things like raiding towns and such, pvp would be "clan fights" where races pit their fighters against one another, and there will be a diverging quest line and "Factions" to work with, on top of a real world element (You will have real world interactions within the rp.)

As for sentience, they're fully sentience, but the player can rp them however they'd like. They are just capable of normal human thinking if you want to play it that way.
