Looks very interesting, and I'd give it a go.
This RP will be set in the future, as you mightíve guessed. However, itís not the future of our earth, rather it is the future of the earth established in the World Forged By Powers RP on this very site. For those of you not familiar with the universe, the gist of it is that super powers are real, and largely follow the laws of physics.
These powers have existed since ancient times. They were incredibly rare back then and those that did have them ended up being the inspiration for myths, legends and ancient religion, especially Norse, Greco-Roman and Egyptian. Just to clarify, there will be no magic in this RP, only Science Fiction.
This also led to technology advancing at a much faster rate than it had in our universe, with artificial intelligence, quantum computers, artificial gravity and holograms already existing in the year 2012.
Needless to say; by the time humanity enters the wider galaxy it has become a pretty advanced species. Of course, so are most other species, who might also have the same potential for super powers.
At this point the exact year for the setting is undecided. I'd like players to be able to help build the world they're going to play.
Our main concern is going to be the sheer scope of the the playing field being put together here. Therefore I'm suggesting the idea that, when making a character for this RP, you need to either join an existing group of player characters or get another group together to form your own. This should help ensure that we don't have players drifting around space by themselves with nothing to do.
The bookmark system is a network of devices spread throughout our section of the galaxy. Their function is to assist in the creation of portals between stars. A portal if formed by folding space until two points are close enough together to make a bridge. We see this as a hole in space. The further you have to bend the space the larger the distance you can travel but also the more energy you have to use. For interstellar distances this energy requirement becomes too heavy, making those sorts of distances unfeasible.
The Bookmark Devices help with this by making permanent folds wherever they are located. A single Bookmark consists of a ring of solar collectors orbiting around a star. The star provides them with the massive amount of energy they need in order to function. The rings power a massive space-fold generator. These generators are always operating and holding the same fold in space at any given moment. Though the fold is always active the device does not form a portal. It can only be found and then used if you already possess portal technology. Essentially it takes the fold and then punch a hole process of portals down to simply punching the hole.
Most bookmarks cover a distance of about 10 to 50 lightyears. The Bookmark device connecting two stars together only needs to be around one of the stars. As such, the system was built so that no planets of value had the bookmark around their own star but rather around the neighboring star they were connected to instead. This also greatly reduced the odds of a species visually seeing the bookmark, even with telescopes.
An alien race from long ago that built the bookmark system thousands of years ago and is incredibly advanced but no longer around.
A race more advanced than humans but with biological technology made out of flesh and using brains for computers. Other than the dragons this would probably be the only species in our part of the galaxy more advanced than humans. (That can be changed if need be)
Humans themselves would be incredibly advanced and most of them would be genetically engineered. There would also be many robots or people who transferred their minds into machines. The Collective is a group of robots that acts as a separate entity from the united human race.
Some sort of Scavenger species. These would have been completely sentient when they were discovered but beyond fire they weren't advanced at all. They might not even have the wheel yet. The humans would have tried to to teach them science but they would start stealing ships from the humans and become space pirates or something.

The World Forged by powers is a sandbox style RP that explores what the world would be like if super powers were real. It takes place in the modern day and uses sci-fi rather than magic, cartoon physics or any of the other typical power styles. Players are encouraged to start their own campaigns and can play as practically anything they like including criminals. It is always open to new players no matter how far along it is.

Westport City is a fictional city where super-villains and super-heroes do battle on a daily basis. Home to magic and science alike, the city is a varied place filled with all sorts of character from all sorts of backgrounds. People in tights, armour, robes and street clothes are equally comfortable. There is always a day to seize and a day to save. The citizens have gotten used to this life. Whenever a super-villain attacks they can be confident that a super-hero will come to stop them. There may be damage but the city is always repaired in the end and life goes on.
There is an arena that allows for multiple battles to take place at once while simultaneously allowing for an audience. The Audience can cheer or jeer at the fight or simply talk to each-other and ask for refreshments. The Arena itself is made out of a shapeshifting substance that allows it to imitate any sort of battleground desired from forests to rivers to city-scapes, including NPCs. The creator of this arena has asked me, as his author, to advertise for him in the hopes that you will take seats in his domain.
