    -1993
    -New Orleans
-Former plantation named The Rising Sun, now turned into a bed and breakfast
-Players start out as human but Hunters, Vampires, Werewolves, Demons and Psychics all exist in New Orleans

    Rules:
-Keep it PG13, and if you want to go into sexual descriptions or extreme gore keep them in PM's.
-Minimum 1 paragraph. Try to progress the story with each post. Respect other players.
-Characters can be killed off if you want them to (grow bored of them), or if you drop out. You can always make new characters, but you can only have 1 active.

There is a house in New Orleans, they call the Rising Sun, and it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know I’m one.

You begin your story as a human, but no matter what choices you make, you’ll be less of one by the time you leave.

For one reason or another, your life has brought you to the Rising Sun this exact moment in time, and your life will never be the same. The moment you stepped across the white washed porch and into the musty interior of the former plantation, you began your journey into the world of darkness. You will see things many humans will never even catch a glimpse of and it will put your sanity to the test. Do you hold onto your human convictions or do you cave in and become one with the supernatural. This is a story about morality, change and perseverance. This is your story.

The House of the Rising Sun hosts a full century and a half of history and, to the current residents and visitors, it is much more than just a place of rest. Life there paints a picture of impossibly humid afternoons on the porch brightened by glasses of homemade lemonade, the musty scent of antique furniture well past its prime, and the buzz of mosquitoes swarming the fog of the bayou at dusk and dawn, lending to a sleepy mood that can leave you vulnerable. There's something iconic and welcoming in the quaint Antebellum facade, but if you open your eyes and ears to the very soul of the place, you might catch a glimpse of something unexpected… and, sometimes, unwelcome. Use caution when roaming the grounds at night, beware of the bayou, and know a person before you trust them.

    Name: Jackson Edwards
    Gender: Male
    Age: 25
    Room Number: 106

Appearance: Jackson is of average build, standing just above six foot and weighing 185 lbs. He has dark brown eyes and wearing thin round glasses. His hair is black, neck length, neat but with flayed ends. He keeps it parts over his right eyes, having his left eyes sometime obscured in doing so. He wears a pair of dark blue jeans, simple pair of black tennis shoes, a faded green shirt, a large gray colored coat, and a black scarf. Picture Appearance

Personality: Jackson has a rather complex personality, having a kind and a rather dark side all at once. He is well spoken and polite to anyone he meets. He tends to keep to himself, being more of a listener than speaker, and usually only speaking when spoken to first. At front, he tends to be as nice, kind, and polite he can to others; whether in a group or one on one with someone. He does enjoy having conversations, which usually is the other participant(s) doing most of the speaking anyways.

A darker side of him is that, no matter how kind and polite he may seem on the outside, he is almost always judging and scrutinizing the people and surroundings around him. He tends to look a person and his surroundings over to take in all the details, and when listening to others talking he is seemingly looking for something he can use against him in case he needed to do so. He usually thinks of himself first and foremost, always out to make sure he can gets the best from a situation. He also takes enjoyment, though rather odd, in experiencing new things with his body, usually meaning narcotics. Out to see what something can do to his mind, and due to such he could be easily seduced by something that could make him experience something completely new.

    Background:

Jackson grew up in a small town in upper Maine. An only child to a doctor, his father, and a school teacher, his mother. He spent most of his childhood keeping to himself, only having at most a couple of friends; although, never considering any of them as 'close'. During his teen years, like every teen does eventually, he begin experimenting with drugs, and in doing so found he liked what was happening to him. Thus, he began using more different types of narcotics, even making his own. He even stole medicine from his father's office, but was never caught.

At 17, he was experimenting something new that he and a friend concocted together. When they tried it, his friend had taken a turn for the worse and ended up in the hospital. With his friend barely surviving what they had done, Jackson sought to swear off the narcotics and stopped messing with them, and had held onto his perseverance of not touching them, up until he was 21.

After high school, Jackson decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a doctor, and attended a college in center Maine. He spent most of his time studying endlessly and not having much of a social life. That however changed when he was 21 and after giving into some pressure, went to a party.

At the party, Jackson decided to loosen up for once and enjoy himself. Most of the night he spent socializing with new people, not wanting to touch alcohol or narcotics. He managed for most of the night to avoid both, until early in the morning the people he was hanging with decided to go get high, and Jackson gave in quickly and joined them.

After that night, he had relapsed to his teens again and began his 'journey' with even newer types of drugs.

When he finished his undergraduates, he wanted to see more of the world and decided to go to a medical college in a different state. After a lengthy process of elimination process, he chose one in Louisiana. He began his studies still doing his old antics in a new environment.

With school being on a break, Jackson was invited to go on vacation with others, which he accepted. And one late night of long driving, he ended up stopping at a large building which he found to be a bed and breakfast where he could sleep for the night, The Rising Sun.

Will this be new WoD, old WoD or a mix of the two?
Are you sure you want to do that?

It's WoD in the general theme and concept, but not strictly new or old, if that makes sense. It would just be too difficult to do pure WoD in a forum setting like this, especially for people who've never played it before, so it's more using WoD as inspiration here and there and simplifying the main idea of it to to fit this format.

If you have a specific question, I can answer that a lot more clearly. haha.

That was fine. I prefer the old WoD slightly more than the new - mainly because I've played it more. So a blend of the two with a little CoC thrown in is cool. How prevalent is the supernatural - meaning are were likely to have had a weird experience in our past or more likely nothing at all?
I'm not sure what else to ask yet beyond that. I'm trying to get a feel for this so I can make a character - if I don't get a feel for a game I can't make one. The room descriptions help with the atmosphere and give me a little bit of the feel. I like room 107 because of room 113 next door but ... IDK - mainly rambling at this point.
Are you sure you want to do that?

Necrotec: Think of WoD as inspiration for the supernatural aspect, but very little will reflect the actual games.

As for the supernatural, there is a limited number of races/types that will be represented and gradually revealed (we narrowed it down to keep things simple). Your character may well have had experience with them before. If you decide you're interested and want to create a character with some familiarity with an aspect of the supernatural, PM me and we can figure it out.
