Setting: I got a bit from the description but I would like more if possible. What is the town like? It could be a small desert town or a city underground that's roof is collapsing causing fire, electricity failure, etc. So the Hero has to travel to the upper level, some place extremely dangerous filled with monster. Is the world they are in a Final Fantasy sort of world, filled with monsters like Dragons, Large snakes, unicorns, etc? Maybe a power source isn't electricity but maybe a magical crystal?
Characters: I won't go too many, likely only 3-4 main ones or there's too much to keep track of and it becomes clustered. What’s their relationship with the town or each other, could they be the current outsider with an odd group of friends each with their own story on how they met that gets revealed during the journey? Here's what else ran through my mind for the Hero and friends:
Alright the main character is a hero of time; they could have limited time abilities which explain why they have to be touching the snow in order to keep it from melting. That’s a challenge; we all know the bad guy is likely not going to make it easy for the hero. Maybe sending a few things like a monster threat that continues to hunt them throughout the story and the hero has to depend on his friends to either fend it off cause if he lets go of the snow or it becomes separated from him, then it starts to melt making this whole trip in vain.
Could it be keep in the moments he found it in thanks to his time ability but does he have to carry it bare handed or he just collect say a small pouch full and as long as it is in the skin and near him, it doesn’t melt? It would give a chance to have the snow be able to be tossed from his hands at some moments and while he’s trying to retrieve it before it starts to melt, there’s things that make it hard and difficult to do that. Not to mention the monster is trying to maim his friends and him in the process.
Villain (I’m assuming the scary guy is the villain so correct if I’m mistaken): Why does the villain begin to burn the town down in the first place? Does he have a grudge? Maybe he’s an outsider that was picked on and humiliated a long time ago so after gaining power later on, he’s decided to take revenge on the town for his pain? (sorry, I’m a sucker for pov villains) Maybe he wants to get something that’s under the town and he figures if he burns it, then there won’t anything in his way?
(I will likely add more to this as I think some more. Not sure if I’ve done this right or was any help at all but I love brain storming stories with others, and answering questions like above always seemed to distract me.)
