So, I posted the following in the interest check section, and figured I'd post it here as well. I'll be honest, I'm looking at this game as "Advanced" in writing style and skill, but I want everyone to have fun with it as well:

Hello, all. Just wanted to say I’m really impressed with the community you’ve all got here and am glad me and a few others from another, dying community were able to find you guys and come over here.

I wanted to propose a game that I’ve always had rumbling around in my mind. It would be player created continuity and player driven story in a comic book Universe where every comic book character could cohabitate the same space. Basically, Spider-man, Batman, and Hellboy could team up to take on Darkseid. Basically, I call this my "action figure game". It's the kind of game you'd play with your friends. It doesn't matter what action figures you had. You came up with stories either way.

Since the Universe would be vast and varied, this will be similar to Marvel’s “Ultimate” imprint, and player will be able to shape their characters to fit this kind of Universe. Mixing of brands and characters is welcomed and encouraged, however, I’d rather people not go completely overboard when using NPCs outside of their own stable. Have a good reason to use whoever you’re going to use. Don’t use an NPC from another character just for the hell of it. Due to the nature of the game, I will probably be reading applications fairly closely, so don’t phone it in! ;-)

I’ve written up a quick story treatment for the game to give people a quick idea:

The Singular Universe: An Ultimate Comics RPG
World War II changed everything.

Before the great war, humans knew the way of the world. They went about their daily lives knowing in their hearts there were no creatures from space, demons and angels stayed in their respective realms, and a regular man could not become super over night. They went to sleep knowing the next morning their children wouldn't start displaying amazing powers in the morning. They went to work not worried about what the new superhuman arms race would lead to.

But World War II changed everything.

When the Third Reich's technologically superior and fiercely trained army began running roughshod over Europe, the United States Military began a desperate scientific program as a last ditch effort to turn the tide of the war, signaling the beginning of Project Rebirth and the Superhuman Age.

Rebirth produced one success, the agent known only to the public as Captain America. He was dispatched to Europe, but he was not alone. The government had also discovered that the human race was beginning to change and mutate to a higher level of evolution. Using some of these new found supermen, they formed The Invaders, a special team that was to liberate Europe.

But Hitler and the Nazis attempted to turn the tide themselves, searching for all manner of occult powers across the world, only to be thwarted time and time again by archeologist and American agent Henry "Indiana" Jones. The Germans also summoned a demon into the world, but the creature known as Hellboy was confiscated and raised by an American special forces team before the Nazis could use him for their dastardly intentions.

Eventually, with Captain America and the others at their backs, the Allies turned the tide of the war. As the noose tightened around Hitler's neck, The Invaders discovered the main fortress of Hitler's science team HYDRA, and what was really behind the Third Reich's technology.

The Nazis were being aided by the alien race known as the Chitauri, a shapeshifting race bent on wiping out freewill in the galaxy. On this final and heroic mission, the Invaders and Captain America thwarted their plan to release a nuclear ICBM on the United States and forced the aliens into retreat.

Unfortunately, Captain America was lost during the mission, sobering the end of the European war.

The time after the war was quiet, at least to the regular citizenry. But behind the scenes, the governments of the world began a superhuman arms race. The loss of Captain America set the US science division back years, as many different agencies scrambled to recreate Project Rebirth's success. The absence of America's super soldier also allowed the rise of the Soviet Union and the spread of Communism across the globe.

During the 60s, the Mutant population also skyrocketed, believed to be due to the atom bomb, and began to be noticed. As it did, Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr rose to prominent positions inside the community, eventually fracturing their long friendship due to differing ideologies.

The 70s brought radical change and the rise of terrorism across the globe. With free nations and Communist nations in the stalemate of the Cold War, criminal organizations attempted to use their inability to act to their advantage, chief among them was the super organization known as SPECTRE. In order to combat these threats, the United Nations Security Council convened in secret to put together a team to combat this new form of evil, and that is when S.H.I.E.L.D. was born.

SHIELD was designed from day one to be the organization to fight all the strange threats that had emerged, and had different organizations underneath it that specialized in different threats. The organization's first top agent, designated then and now as 007, was a former Navy SEAL by the name of Nick Fury.

As time past into the 80s, and the Cold War came to a close with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the world settled into a relative peace, although society as a whole began to decline. The world no longer had any heroes to look up to and no one to follow the lead of.

But that was about to change as well.

In Kansas, a small spacecraft crash lands on the Kent Farm. In Gotham City, a boy loses his parents to a lone gunman. A school for gifted youngsters opens in rural New York. And scientists in the United States begin unlocking the secrets of the Super Soldier Serum, using mutant DNA and Gamma radiation which will start a chain reaction across the world.

The time is now, and the world's new batch of superheroes has emerged, fighting back the evils that came with them.
Also, here is an example of an application, to give an example of what is possible in this game:

The Singular Universe
Character Application

Character you wish to portray:
Leonardo

Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Hero

Powers and physical attributes: Leonardo is (or will be) an anthropomorphic, mutant turtle. The X-Gene ooze that was spilled on him, his brothers, and his father granted them all with super human strength, agility, speed, dexterity, endurance, and a slight healing factor. On top of that, it made he and his brothers’ shells bullet proof.

The Turtles and Splinter also have an innate knowledge of ninjutsu and the martial arts.

Origin and backstory (as you see it): Our story begins, as most do, a long time ago. In Japan, during the 15th century, the time of the samurai, a new order of warrior began to emerge, known to the world as shinobi, but we commonly know them as ninja. Silent and deadly, these warriors struck from the darkness, performing deeds the more noble samurai deemed “unworthy”.
The centuries went on, and as they did, the ninja became more powerful in the Land of the Rising Sun. And among these ninja clans, one stood above all in power and ferocity.

The Hand.

The Hand’s methods were so secretive, they were believed to be supernatural. Their missions always ended in success, and in their case, success meant a multitude of bodies that needed burying.

But little did their clients know, The Hand’s methods were supernatural. Long ago, the leaders of the clan made a deal with a Tengu, a demon, known only as The Beast, to give them power above all other warriors. Their wish was granted in return for spreading The Beast’s influence across the globe.

Their power grew up until the eighteenth century, when their connection to the evil Beast was discovered by two brothers, Hamato Yoshi and Hamato Oni. Yoshi and Oni were raised by the clan, and were ninjas themselves. But when they discovered the link to the ancient evil, as well as a plan to assassinate Japan’s shogun ruler and stage a coup, they decided to betray The Hand.

On the day of the planned coup d’état, Oni and Yoshi entered the palace with their fellow ninja, and led them directly into the shogun’s waiting troops. The brothers were pardoned and spared, though The Hand’s leadership escaped the massacre, swearing they would have their revenge.

A decade passed, and the brothers lived quiet lives from then on as farmers in the country side. That is until Oroku Saki, leader of The Hand, and his newly trained shinobi found them. Saki murder the men’s wives while they were at market with Oni’s one son. When the three men returned, Yoshi found his four sons bound at Saki’s feet. The ninja master taunted Saki be fore slaying his sons.
When Yoshi attacked, he was mortally wounded. But before dying, he called out to his brother and nephew, begging them to escape. And as Oroku Saki raised his blade for the killing stroke, Yoshi prayed for a chance to exact revenge, telling Saki they would meet again.

Now, in the present day, Doctor Curtis Connors works for Oscorp, attempting to develop a serum to heal infirmities using the abilities of the X-Gene, what gives mutants their powers. Along side of him are two interns from Midtown High’s science program: Gwen Stacy and April O’Neil, both of whom are in charge of Connors’s animal test subjects.

Why have you chosen this character?
: The TMNT are my absolute favorite, and the ability to tie them into the Marvel Universe with some pretty interesting applications is just too much to pass up.

What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
An experienced, dedicated player.

Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, three paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue:

This guy is fast. A lot faster than the news makes him out to be. Which is surprising. I’m a lot slower than he is, as are my brothers, but you don’t see us plastered all over the news and newspapers like he is. You’d figure he’d want to be a little more secretive about his…uh…activities.

But then again, he’s human. Or mostly human. Not a six foot, talking, walking turtle with swords strapped to his back. Maybe he doesn’t mind being seen.

He leaps over yet another building, and as I do the same, his head snaps around like he heard me. Impossible. I know I made absolutely no noise. I’ve been trained better than that.

None the less, I’m lassoed around the waist and swung into the roof of the building he’s on. I roll and put up my hands, “Whoa! Dude! Chill! I’m not here to fight you!”

He looks over his shoulder and then back at me, “In that case, question one: who are you. Question two: HOLY CRAP YOU’RE A GIANT TALKING TURTLE! That’s awesome.”

“I’m Leonardo,” I say, putting out my hand. “And the second one wasn’t a question.”

“I know. Sometimes I get too excited for my own good,” he says, accepting the hand shake. “You can call me Spider-man.”
Here's the thread from the Interest Check section where some questions were already asked: http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...85#post8108985

Initially, players will be able to play 2 characters from the world of comics, and it's up to the player if they want to do their character's origin story off the bat, or have the character already established in game.
