Clark looked at Bruce for a few moments, and just shook his head, "That's a no, then." He'd been a reporter long enough to know these sort of things, it especially helped when he used to have a rich friend that did a lot of the same things. Though, Lex just enjoyed giving away some of the more popular tricks used by others with a lot of money to actually get attention from the press. He still smiled, as if it really wasn't that big of a deal to him, he could work without an interview from Bruce Wayne. It wouldn't be too hard with all the others he could interview about it, and the only reason he asked was to see if he could actually get some sort of interview which would please his boss. He knew if he hadn't asked, he would have been yelled at by Perry White, since he did manage to actually talk to the playboy millionaire for a few moments, but that was because of an emergency and had less to do with anything for The Daily Planet.

"Thank you, for you time anyways, Mr.Wayne," Clark added. He was still taught to thank people, even if he didn't actually get what he wanted, his parents were pretty clear about that one. He was still quite used to doing everything like the human he pretended to be, Clark was always such a nice person and allowed himself to fade into the background of anything. He also was just a simple farm boy and made sure that everything his parents had taught him when he was young was always used, since he felt more human than alien. After all, he was raised like a regular child or at least treated like a regular child even with his powers. It wasn't until later that he learned where the powers even came from and what he really was. He just had to deal with being both Clark and Superman, though he could always choose just to be one or the other, since he had plenty of chances to do so. He just couldn't make that big of a decision, since the world needed Superman, but he was still Clark Kent even if he wasn't such a memorable person.

"Maybe we'll talk some other time," Clark ended, and walked off, figuring that Lillian would be safe for now and that she needed the sleep anyways, and he had a few things he needed to get done at the hotel before he went off to do a few other things. He needed to get everything done with what he had so far for the article about this research center, and then he needed to head off to the college and figure out what happened with Lillian. Of course, he figured it would be easier to do that as Superman, rather than Clark. He really didn't want to have a nasty run in with The Batman as Clark, he was sure it wouldn't end well. He just headed for the hotel for the time being so that he could get a few of his own things done before he started thinking about those things though.

Batman watched Mr. Kent leave. He soon dismissed the man from his mind for the moment. He needed to check on Lillian. If the girl was still asleep, even with all this racket going on, it would mean that she was seriously deprived of sleep. This would mean that whatever was happening to her was very serious. Not that he wasn't going to check out the college even if she was awake and moving.

"Lillian?" Batman as Bruce called out looking around backstage for the girl.

Lillian was startled awake with the call of her name, she pulled herself off of the ground that she had fallen asleep on and stared up at Bruce for a moment. She felt quite childish, having done something so odd like falling asleep on the ground in the park, but it wasn't like she could go back and correct the past.

"Oh, I guess I fell asleep during your speech, I'm sorry," Lillian apologized as she brushed herself off and ran a hand through her hair. "I guess I should get home before I've got to pick Sam up from the hospital. I'll be fine on my own so don't worry too much about it."

Batman nodded his head. Stubborn girl. He didn't expect anything less from this girl. After all she had had the drive to put herself through school while taking care of her brother. Anything less would have been something she'd never allow. Like help from Bruce Wayne. He half smiled.

"It’s okay. It wasn’t that interesting of a speech anyways. But at least let Mrs. Smith take you home." Batman looked around for Mrs. Smith and found her talking to one of the workers.

"That really isn't necessary, Mr. Wayne, I can get home on my own," Lillian assured.

"I’m sure you could. Mrs. Smith." Batman hailed her. The woman turned, smiled, turned back to the worker, said something, then came on over.

"Mr. Wayne. How can I help?" Mrs. Smith said smiling at Bruce. She didn't even look at Lillian. Bruce was like some powerful magnet, such was his presence that some people were just drawn to it.

"Remember Lillian Harper?" Batman gestured to Lillian. "She needs a ride home and I was hoping your car was available." Bruce knew better than to offer to drive her himself. The tabloid would be all over that and he didn't want to cause the girl anymore grief.

Mrs. Smith finally pulled her eyes off Bruce and turned to the girl. "Of course. That would be no problem. Where do you live Lillian?"

"Two blocks over in the new apartment buildings," Lillian sighed.

"Great. Then we'll be off." Mrs. Smith smiled at Bruce.

Batman smiled back. "See you at work bright and early tomorrow. You've got your work cut out for you if I did my job well today." Mrs. Smith’s official job, other than being Bruce’s go-to-girl, was to accept money for the charities on Bruce’s behalf. With all the charities WE and Bruce ran, it was a full time job. Bruce heard Mrs. Smith once talking about calls she had received at two in the morning from willing donators. The woman was truly dedicated to her job.

Mrs. Smith giggled. "Right. See you then." She nodded at Bruce before pointing out to the parking lot. "My car's over there." Then she started off with one last look at Bruce.

Batman would call her later to make sure Lillian got home okay. But he wouldn't ask her here while Lillian would hear it. If she didn't want him involved, he'd pretend that he was unconcerned. It was Batman's job at this point anyways. He'd help her with this far more than Bruce ever could. With that taken care of, Bruce left the area himself.

    ---\\---//---

The Porsche pulled into the garage of Wayne Manor. The large estate was outside of Gotham Proper, but not far enough out that it took too long to get to Downtown Gotham. The estate itself was large. It covered over 4 acres of land. That didn’t include the subterranean cave system either.

The house had been built in the English Renaissance revival style. Making the Manor look more like a castle than anything else. The grounds were neatly taken care of. There were hoards of caretakers out at the Manor. Bruce’s manservant, Alfred Pennyworth, was in charge of the other servants. Hiring, firing, raises, were all taken care of by Alfred.

Perhaps Alfred’s most important job was to take care of little Richard. Or as Alfred called him, Master Richard. The boy was important to Bruce, and Batman too, if he’d admit it. The little boy was so full of hope and optimism. When he had adopted the boy, he hadn’t expected it. Rather he had thought the boy would turn out like him. When Richard didn’t, Bruce was happy.

Of course the there was a down side to all that boundless hope and optimism. The fool boy couldn’t sit still for more than five second before he was running and jumping like the laws of gravity just didn’t apply to him. Ten year old boys were like that. Alfred had assured him as much. Bruce wasn’t sure since when he was ten, he wasn’t very active at all.

Bruce ascended the steps to the door of the garage. A stern voice came through the open door and it made Bruce pause.

Master Richard. Stop that right this instant.” Alfred said in his ‘mother’ voice as Bruce called it. Bruce himself had heard it many times when he was a little boy. He had been raised by Alfred and couldn’t have asked for a better father.

Alf, watch this!” A young boy’s voice echoed into Bruce’s ears. Followed by peals of boyish laughter.

Master Richard I must insist you stop this before you hurt yourself.

Bruce started walking again. He followed the voices into one of the many hallways on the first floor. He paused when he saw Alfred. The man was standing in the middle of the hallway looking at Bruce. His black eyes met Bruce’s blue ones and he gave a small smile. It made the older man look years younger.

Bruce raised an eyebrow and Alfred looked up. Bruce followed his gaze.

Bruce! You’re home!” Richard cried happily from his lofty perch. He was precariously balanced on top of a massive bookshelf. Not that the bookshelf was full of books, but rather trinkets of ancestors past.

Indeed. And you are not supposed to be up there.” Bruce pointed out. The little boy never called Bruce ‘Father’. Not even after a year. It made Bruce slightly sad, but he knew the little boy was still hurting over losing his own father. He knew that pain and he’d never ask the small boy to replace his father with Bruce. Just like Bruce could never replace his own father with Alfred, no matter how much he loved the man, or thought of him as a father figure.

Bruce reached out and the black haired boy jumped into his arms. “I was showing Alf a trick and he wasn’t liking it much.” The little boy looked a little put out by this. Alfred sighed. Bruce smiled. “I’m sure he was just worried about you. It’s not safe to be climbing in the house. We talked about this.

The little blue eyed boy sighed. “The gym is so boring though.” Bruce had a gym specially built on the first floor for the little boy to safely practice his gymnastics and circus tricks. It was his foolish hope that the boy would actually use the gym, and not the Manor. It hadn’t worked.

But safe.” Bruce pointed out putting the squirming boy onto the ground.

Richard replied by sticking out his tongue and dashing off. Bruce chuckled to himself.

It’s because you let him get away with it, that he continues this unruly behavior.” Alfred pointed out.

Bruce shrugged, having no response. “It makes him happy.

And one day he’ll hurt himself.” Alfred said.

He’ll do that even if he isn’t climbing on the furniture.” Bruce replied just as succinctly.

Apparently Alfred was going to drop the topic for the moment. “How was the fund raiser?

Bruce sighed this time. He rubbed the back of his neck. “It went fine. But it was Lillian.” Batman admitted after a moment. Alfred pressed his lips together and looked over Bruce.

I’ll have a cup of tea sent to your study.” Alfred wasn’t talking about his study he used for WE work. Rather the study that lived in secrecy underground. Only Alfred and Batman knew about that study.

Batman nodded his head. “Thanks Alfred.

Batman and Alfred went their different ways. The latter to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. The former vanished down into the Earth. When Bruce had been a little kid he had found one of the entrances into the cave system. The darkness had scared him then, and he hadn’t returned. At least not until he had been older and just coming back from his travels around the world.

Now there was more than just caves down there. It was the ‘Bat’ cave; a state of the art command center that helped Batman fight crime and keep his city safe. In the cave directly below Wayne Manor was the main ‘Bat’ cave. It contained his ‘study’. Which had a super computer, files on every villain, political figure, people that had come onto his radar, police, anyone really.

Batman sat in the swivel chair in front of the computer. The screen was the size of a small theater screen. There were three sets of key boards. He booted up the computer and called up the electronic files of Lillian and Samuel Harper. There were sub files on their parents. Mrs. Harper had been killed accidently by falling down the stairs. The official statement was that she tripped over a toy left carelessly on the floor.

Mr. Harper on the other hand was a drinker. He ended up going to jail for a D.U.I. charge. At first the judge had given him probation because he was a sole caretaker of Lillian and Samuel. However within a few months he had violated his parole which landed him in jail.

If Lillian hadn’t had a head on her shoulders both of the children would have been placed in foster care. Foster care wasn’t a good place for a sick child like Samuel. Samuel had been in and out of the hospital so much that he basically lived there half the year, and the other half with his sister.

Batman rubbed his shoulders then stilled. Someone was coming down the stairs into the cave. He didn’t relax until Alfred came into sight.

Here we go Master Bruce.” Alfred took the cup of tea off the patter and placed it in front of Bruce. “What are you looking for?” Alfred asked as he looked at the screen.

Someone’s been bothering Lillian at the college.” Batman picked up the cup and took a sip. Perfect. Alfred was the best. “I’m trying to find out who and why.”

Alfred frowned. “Did you ask Lillian?

Batman mocked frowned. “Ask Lillian? Why that would be too simple.” Then he sighed. “I did. But she wouldn’t talk about it. Said it was nothing. But it wasn’t nothing.” His grip tightened on the china and he forced his hand to relax before he broke it. “Something’s wrong and I’ll stop it.

Alfred patted Batman’s shoulder. “Of course you will Master Bruce. You always do.

Thanks Alf.” Bruce smiled. Then he was all business again.

Batman turned back to the computer screen and started pulling up recent records from the college. Nothing centering around Lillian so far. He heard Alfred leave but didn’t turn and watch. There was nothing from areas around the college either. Whoever was bothering Lillian was very good at not being noticed. That was fine. Batman was better. Tonight he’d find out who was bothering her. He was just going in without knowing who it was. He’d prepare the best he could and go from there.

Batman leaned back in his chair and looked at the clock. Alfred had had it made a few months after he became Batman. It was shaped like a bat. Whenever he saw it, it made him smile, even if it was only an internal smile. It had been a small peace offering. Alfred had disagreed with Bruce over the whole ‘Batman’ thing, but they had come to an understanding. Bruce wouldn’t die and Alfred would wait for him as long as this was what he wanted.

Bruce turned back to the computer. There was still time until the Batman could make an appearance. Batman pulled up a new file and titled it: Clark Kent, Reporter from the Daily Planet, Metropolis.

Batman called up everything he could find on Mr. Kent. He was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Kent when he was little. He flagged the small adoption agency. The only child ever adopted out of it was Mr. Kent and no birth parents were on record. He grew up in Smallville. He noted that Mr. Kent never once went to the hospital.

Mr. Kent was a good student. Played on the football team, and ended up in the newspapers because of it. His love of reporting was obvious. He had been on the school newspaper in High School. People thought of him as an average nerd. Nothing outstanding. His record was clean. Not even a speeding ticket. Odd that he turned down a scholarship, but understandable if Kent liked reporting better than football.

His work at Daily Planet was average. He had his fair share of articles about the ‘Superhero’ who was called Superman. But nothing out of the ordinary on that end. Batman rested his chin on his hand as he looked at what he had found. Maybe he had been too hasty in giving the reporter a bum’s rush. There was something about his past that didn’t add up. Was it the adoption agency or the lack of hospital records?

Batman closed the file. He’d print it off later and make copies. He kept a copy of the copies in a different secure location. Just in case. Now, however, was time for Batman to make his move. He changed into his suit and grabbed his gadgets.

Sometime while he had been busy, Alfred had come back down and collected the empty cup. Batman looked back over the cave. Everything was in place. He started the bat-mobile via the remote control. He checked his gear before getting in. Alfred wouldn’t expect him until dawn. Richard was safe with Alfred. Gotham and Lillian needed Batman.

The bat-mobile roared as Batman drove it out of the cave. The lights flicked off after it was gone. The faithful servant climbed the stairs after he turned off the lights. ‘Be safe Master Bruce’. His words echoed in the empty cavern, the only witnesses were the bats.

Clark found himself back at the hotel after a quick run from the park when he was completely out of sight. He expected that nobody would miss him, it wasn't like anyone in Gotham really knew him anyways. He thought about the whole event that had gone on and wondered how much he needed to leave out of his story for now. He'd likely be forced to write up another article later on whatever was threatening Lillian, if it ever became public knowledge and if they found out who was threatening her. Which Superman was going to make sure that they would find out, otherwise he'd have to figure out a way to keep Lillian and Samuel safe from any sort of danger. It was just easier to find the root of the problem and fix it that way though.

Clark started to type up a few notes on how everything went on the speech and put a bit more focus on Lillian and Samuel and why the research center was built rather than just the charity and research center itself. He knew it would make for a better story and it was something he had been taught to do after so many years of being part of journalism. For him, it really wasn't a job he ever found himself actually wanting to have, but for Superman it was the best way to get information fast. The Daily Planet was full of researchers that had no clue they were actually helping out the Superhero that saved the day countless times. Then again, it was probably for the best that they had no idea about that at all. The last thing he wanted was his regular life to be ruined and taken away from the discovery that Superman and Clark Kent were the same person. Not only that, but others would be in danger because they knew Clark, and he just couldn't allow that to happen.

It only took him a few moments to get everything settled with the Daily Planet, and made sure to act as if he was being quite productive. He told Perry White that there was no chance he was going to get a meeting in with Bruce Wayne, it was just too impossible. He got yelled at for a few moments, before he promised that he would get interviews with the one person the whole charity was about. He was quite certain that he could at least manage to do that at some point. That made the situation a bit better for Clark, since it calmed Perry down a bit. Before the phone call was over, he had been switched over to Lois Lane, who was giving him tips on how to handle this story. He really didn't pay much attention to the tips as he was just happy to hear her voice, since he was so worried she'd end up in danger while he was away. She had this certain thing about her that pushed her into danger rather than away, she just investigated things that were too big and should be handled through the police.

He decided to get something to eat before he went off as Superman, he really didn't want to disrupt any classes that might be in session. He had already researched what college Lillian was going to, it seemed like quite a big deal now, probably because of Mr. Wayne. She was going to college, obviously in the area, and there was only one college to go to and that was Gotham University, so it wasn't too hard to find anyways. He made sure he could figure out where it was and how he could get there before he finally ate and got ready for the real mission. The sun was just starting to set when Superman parted his hair over to the correct side, stood up tall and was in his regular costume. He made his way out of the hotel at super speed, just to make sure nobody saw who was actually in the hotel.

Superman was at the college as soon as he could possibly be there, he decided that breaking in this time was the only way to go. It wasn't too hard for someone like him, since he did have all those powers. He used his x-ray vision while flying over the school to find the place that seemed the most suspicious. He made his way to the window and pulled it open, even though it had been locked a few moments ago. He climbed his way through and looked around what looked like a complete lab disaster. There were broken beakers and test tubes everywhere, it seemed like nobody had bothered to come in and clean anything. There were even giant puddles of water and furniture dripping wet, it seemed quite odd. Superman walked slowly through the room, careful not to disturb anything as he looked for anything that could help.

Batman parked in car in the back of an alley close to Gotham U. The campus was still active, even at this time of night. Classes were all over for the night. However that didn't stop most of the students from going about their business. The library was full. So were the dorms. The science building was also active, but less populated.

Batman crouched on top of a nearby building and watched. He checked his gadgets before making a decision. There were people in there, but not too many. Nothing he couldn't handle. He pulled out his grappling hook and took a moment to gauge the wind before firing it toward the science building.

It attached with a soft sound. Batman's special infrared lenses watched the heat signatures in the building. No erratic changes. So it was unheard. He jumped off his perch and hurtled downwards. The jump line extended taking up the extra force before it contracted. It was made so you wouldn't rip your arms out of their sockets every time you used the jump line. It was a special weave, the closest most people would ever come to it would be a bungee cord.

Batman alighted on top of the science building. He looked below. Still not untoward activity. He fingered his batarangs making sure they were within easy access. Small pieces of metal made in the shape of bats. He had them specially made a few years ago. They were like small, lethal throwing disks, weapons used by the Japanese Ninjas, but nonlethal. They also made good calling cards when he just wanted to scare someone and not harm them.

Then he moved to the rooftop access, letting himself in after he picked the lock, being courteous enough to lock it after himself.

Once inside Batman listened. There was talking going on in the building, but not much. Most of it was just from college kids. Nothing to be discovered there right now. Lillian's lab was on the first floor. That was where he was headed.

Superman had looked around a few other rooms close to the lab that didn't have students roaming around. There really wasn't much, nobody could have figured out what was going on, it seemed. The lab was practically secluded from the rest of the building, meaning there weren't many people that would know about what had happened in the first place. He wondered how much of a secret Lillian was able to keep with this whole mess, he was sure that there had to be some way people would have figured out about the damage that needed to be repaired at the very least. Unless, Lillian just hasn't said anything and was waiting for the right time to report it to the college, or the college already knew and was being threatened to keep it under wraps as well.

Superman decided to pay the main college office a little visit before he started to make assumptions. He found his way in quite easily, figuring that it would be best to look in the files and see what was going on. He was careful to disarm all the alarms and make sure that nobody would ever figure out that he had ever come through. He grabbed the file on Lillian and a few others that he thought might have something to do with the lab that was now a complete wreck. He wasn't too sure what he might find or if he would find anything, but he was sure that something was bound to come along and make itself known. Superman skimmed through them, finding nothing that would help, other than a few statements on how much it would cost to repair the damage, which meant that they knew what was going on. He wondered why the college wasn't saying anything if it might have something to do with someone already inside Gotham University.

Superman's attention was quickly diverted when he heard two voices, which wouldn't have bothered him until he heard them utter the name Lillian Harper and something about a boss. He had to see what was going on, these two must have been at least part of the source that was causing this girl some trouble. He quickly made his way back to the lab as fast as he could, hoping that these two people weren't going to go after regular civilians or after any other person for that matter. He ended up behind the two that were sneaking into the building as well. "And what would you want with someone like Lillian Harper?" Superman questioned standing tall, behind the two that had frozen in place at the sound of someone that was obviously not expected.

Batman opened the door to the lab. He paused on the threshold. Someone had trashed the room. Badly. All the work was destroyed. His eyes narrowed behind the lenses in his mask. So someone was threatening Lillian. That would explain the mess. He walked carefully into the room. This had been done a while ago.

Batman knelt down and checked some of the fluids. Definitely Lillian's lab. This was what she had been working on. Batman frowned. No one had been by to clean up. Either Lillian was keeping this mess, and the threats, a secret from the school itself. Or the school was also being hushed up. Which was far more likely.

Batman carefully examined the lab. He took sample of anything he thought might help. He took fingerprints and footprints. He took photos of the scene. There wasn't much. But that was typical in these types of situations. Batman could tell it had been more than one person who had trashed the lab. He could also tell that Lillian hadn't been working alone when it had happened. Which meant that someone else knew besides Lillian. This leant it's weight to the fact that whoever was doing this was hushing up the school.

However, not much else could be found. Batman straightened as he heard movement. He flipped back on his infrared. Two, no, three people moving this direction. He turned it off so he could see where he was walking. Batman moved into the shadows and drifted towards the heat signatures were. Once he was next to the door he stopped and turned his infrared back on.

He could hear voices but he couldn't make out what they were saying. Batman reached into his belt and pulled out a slender black box. He flipped a switch and a voice became clear in his ear once he placed the box against the door. The third heat signature had joined the other two.

"And what would you want with someone like Lillian Harper?"

Batman listened as one cried out. "W-who," The man stammered. "Who are y-you?" Obviously the one talking was just a hired goon. Not very smart, but they hung around like cockroaches. They were everywhere. Easy to apprehend too. Useful, since they always ran back home once you scared them.

However, with his words he highlighted the third taller heat signature as not apart of them. Batman decided to wait and hear what was going on before he acted.

Superman glared down at the goons, one seemed quite frightened, while the other seemed more surprised then scared. He was quite sure they were about to after Lillian again, gladly she wasn't around at the moment. That just meant that whoever was after Lillian didn't know her schedule fully or didn't know what she was up to at every moment, at least not yet. He stared at these people for a few moments wondering what was going on that would make anyone want to scare this girl so much. Was she into something dangerous herself? Or was it just because of what she was working on? He couldn't really figure it out on his own, and obviously he wasn't going to get anything out of these two either. They seemed more content with staring at him waiting for what he was going to do about the situation rather than worry about his questions. He expected that to happen, though, he wasn't exactly new to the whole fighting crime thing.

Superman's eyebrow raised when one asked who he was. It had been a while since someone had asked such a question, it wasn't like he wasn't known in Metropolis. It almost felt like a disappointment that he wasn't recognized in this area as well. Was he really going to be this egocentric? Superman shook his head as he sighed, "Superman, was in the area to help out a friend. I think he'll be pleased with you two being already tied up and ready to answer his questions." Superman had no idea if Batman would even show up, that was just an assumption he was willing to make. He just wasn't going to believe that Batman hadn't figured out what was going on already, he was known as the world's greatest detective for a reason. Then again, there really wasn't a reason he should have known about it yet, Superman was just kind of hoping, if not, he was sure that he could always just leave the two at the GCPD headquarters and let the police handle the two.

The one that wasn't as frightened by the sudden change in plans pulled out quite an interesting looking gun, one that must have never been encountered before. Before acting, Superman looked around making sure that there was still nobody else around that could get hurt, before he went in to attack and get rid of the two men. He dodged what he assumed to be a bullet before he heard something quite interesting from behind, he glanced behind and saw the wall was now covered in ice. He would have to make note of that for future situations. If he was even going to be in the city long enough to be in future situations, he was only supposed to be in Gotham for a week or so. Though it wouldn't take too long to fly in if he was still needed. He grabbed one of the henchmen and threw him at the other, just enough to rough both of them up, but not do so much damage to harm them pertinently.

"Superman, was in the area to help out a friend. I think he'll be pleased with you two being already tied up and ready to answer his questions."

Batman nearly flinched in surprise as the third heat signature identified himself. And associated himself with the Batman. Batman did not associate with this Superman. And he did not like that this other 'hero' was doing so. As far as Batman knew Superman had never been seen outside of Metropolis. In fact he didn't know much about Superman until a few hours ago when he had been looking at the reporter, Clark Kent.

He knew Superman was new to the hero scene. Superman was an idealist from what he had read. He made pretty speeches to the crowds after he apprehended criminals. He acted like some overgrown boy scout. Batman hated boy scouts. They were so naive and goody-goody. The real world was something they couldn't comprehend. They stood in the light and never saw into the dark. Not like him.

Superman fit that picture. Of course Batman had to look up more about Superman once he came across the rumor that he was an alien. Batman found reports that Superman could fly, without aid of technology. (Impossible without technological aid) And that Superman could see through walls to find crime (Plausible with technological aid). Have super hearing (Plausible with technological aid). Was able to deflect bullets (Impossible and ridiculous). Most reports were contradictory. In fact one of his reported abilities was to be able to see into the future (Implausible). Another was that he was some sort of 'He-man' (Implausible). One even said that Superman could break the sound barrier just by running (Impossible). As of the moment Batman could neither confirm nor deny any reports.

He frowned deeply. He moved his hand to his utility belt. He hadn't anticipated this in his plans. Preparing blind you can hope you've brought the correct tools. But if he had to fight Superman, he was highly unprepared tonight. Batman flipped open one of the many pouches with a small 'pop' and fingered the gas bombs within.

That was when something interesting happened on the other side of the wall. One of men, not Superman, moved and a void appeared on the infrared. Interesting. The spot clung to the wall next to the door. The man who claimed to be Superman moved quickly. Perhaps the super speed report wasn't as ridiculous as it sounded. For the supposed Superman had the two men in a pile on the floor before he could register the events in order.

Batman looked at the wall that had the void in his sensors. Only one thing caused that if it wasn't a glitch, which Batman didn't think it was. It would have to be something cold. Real cold. The fact that his sensors were telling him that the void was getting smaller made him think of dry ice. But where was the man carrying it.

Batman wanted to open the door and investigate, but the 'Superman' was still out there. And Batman wasn't sure he was friendly and he wasn't going to take the chance. For now he had to do his analysis from behind the door.
Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real.
